In another post, someone commented that they got Ghiradhelli (I know that is not spelled correctly) squares in their stocking and they weren’t stocking worthy.
They are a staple in DD’s stockings.
Our stockings are usually small, inexpensive gifts: chocolate, hand lotion, chapstick (EOS), gift certificates (the most expensive things), single wick candles, etc.
How does your family do stockings?

I fill the stockings for everyone. It is completely random. DH and I got new travel toothbrush holders that were a dollar. But, I also put Clinique products in DD's. That is WAY more than a dollar. I do make sure I even things out. The point is - anything is stocking worthy at our house.

Well, my MIL still does us stockings, but they're more of a sack and include all our presents (unless they're too big). Little things include chocolates, bubble blowers, cute items of stationery, small toys. Why would anybody think something isn't stocking-worthy? People are weird, lol.

We always put Ghirardelli squares and Lindor truffles in our stockings. I also always put a tube of m&ms in there too. 😄. I like to put small gifts in there. Like my daughter got a mini set of water colors and a pad of watercolor postcard paper. I put a funko pop John McClain Doll in my husbands. Silly little things that are just fun or yummy go into our stockings.
My mom puts jewelers and gift cards into the stockings she gives us.

Generally stocking stuffers are small things under about $5 here. Now sometimes there are also gift cards that get put in there or like this year, as I was wrapping I realized one kid was heavy on presents and the other was heavy on stocking stuffers so I wrapped a few small things and put them under the tree to help balance. (Ods understands, and like most years his gifts cost more and look like less, but I still like to have things look roughly equal under the tree).

I put a bag of ghirardelli chocolates in my own stocking this year. I love them. Usually small sized stuff goes in stockings. This year the kids got build your own mini robots, their favorite Candy, stickers for their cars and laptops, bracelets from the local knot works company. DH got mop brushes for the grill, bear claws for shredding meat, a travel mug, Kit Kat’s, etc. I got an Apple Watch in mine. Stocking stuffers are totally random in our house.

I usually include small things--regardless of price. I do candy, their ornament, fun gadgets, fancy hot cocoa,, gift cards or whatever I don't feel like wrapping by that point.

Ours are totally random items based on what will FIT in the stocking. Stockings are one of our most treasured traditions and I put great effort into filling each person's with carefully chosen items -- plus some fluff. For example, my four grown sons still always get a toothbrush because "anytime you get candy, you get a toothbrush" (applied to Valentine's gifts and Easter baskets, too... it's a family rule).
In our family, the odd items in stockings are always a hit. And of course everyone is hoping for something with a wow factor. You generally get a mix of it all. This year I've filled 13 stockings which won't be opened until we do our family Christmas next weekend. With four sons, three daughters-in-law and the US Navy involved, I don't always get to pick when we get together - we do it when we can.

Stockings for the boys here always include Slim Jim’s, (Lindt this year, usually Ghirardelli squares), Life Savers Book, Edible Insects. This year they included gourmet Beef Jerky, yodeling pickles, flip books, Door Dash and Subway gift cards, and a desktop Waving Tube Guy. In dh’s stocking I put Lindt Santa and reindeer, yodeling pickle, gourmet beef jerky, and a Patron tequila sampler.

Exactly the same in my house. I put flashlights, gift cards, favorite candy, an ornament, little puzzles, and fun gadgets in there. I hear you on the wrapping -- I was done. done. done. ETA: no chocolate. The stockings hang over the fireplace and we always have a fire going.

Usually candy and toiletries (travel size, samples of new makeup etc), I usually buy several beauty boxes or the like and split them. This year, no one needs any of that and everyone is an adult so I bought candy and everyone bought one item for everyone else's stocking! It was fun and I think we will keep doing it. Things that showed up: monogrammed notebooks, personalized keychains, local handmade soap, fuzzy socks and slippers.

Every present that fits goes in my lads stockings (that`s OH DS and GDS). So that is a mix of prices, everything in together if it fits the stocking. One pressies puzzled my DS until I told him to look at the name tag . It was a box of posh food soups for his cat. He thought they were packets of sauces for him.

Ghiradelli chocolates are always in the adults' stockings. What a strange comment- what makes something stocking worthy? Kids' stockings - Christmas socks, candy boxes (Skittles or Reeses) Pocky, York Peppermint Patties, something special that fits the kids' interests (this year- a Joyce Manor band mask, an Office door sign, and sports tattoos), hand sanitizer, and a gift card related to their interests. Adults' stockings - Christmas socks, Ghiradelli chocolates, York Peppermint Patties, Bath & Body Works hand soap, hand sanitizer. Dad's included his favorite pens, my sister's included hair accessories and Burt's Bee's lipsticks, and my brother-in-law's had a gift card. The stockings are pretty small so they aren't the big deal they are in a lot of houses. The kids had their gift cards spent an hour after present opening.

Like most on here, it's just a mix of random things. Nothing extravagant. I feel that dd's was better than ds's this year. Not intentionally, just happened. This year was heavy on the candy because there weren't any mixed bag of nuts to be found. I did get some Ghiradelli this year in mine. First time but it's dark chocolate raspberry and I know I'll enjoy it.
Funny story about ds's. I was struggling with what to put in it and got a Waffle House gc for $25. As he was opening his stocking, he pulled it out and asked how much was on there. I said it's written in the top upper right. He's like no there isn't. I couldn't figure out why as I know for sure I wrote it down. Turns out, dh dropped another one in there not knowing I had gotten one. Totally random.

I buy presents from the lists my kids give me so my only opportunity to surprise and delight them is in their stockings. I scour the earth for cute, fun, whimsical, personal items that they'll love. There are always basics: hand sanitizer (which I've given them for years and they finally came in handy this year - my kids all had drawers full from years past); invisibobbles, high end chocolate, fuzzy socks, Dunkin Donuts gift cards. And every year I over-buy, so I get them novelty reusable shopping bags and put the overflow in those, so they get the bags and the stuff in them. Here's a picture of my dog, but you can see the shopping bags hanging with their stockings in the background.

Santa has put me in charge of the stockings at my house. II stuff the stockings full and everyone usually ends up w/ an extra treat bag full of stocking stuffers. The most expensive thing anyone got in their stocking this year was a $16 bottle of hair gel. Usually, I put inexpensive, useful things in stockings like toothbrushes and charger cords.
We usually do stockings on Christmas evening when all the presents have been unwrapped and Christmas dinner has been eaten and we are just sitting around chilling. I’ll suddenly announce “Oh look, we didn’t even notice that Santa filled our stockings last night!” No one is expecting to get anything fantastic in their stockings, but everyone has fun looking to see what they got.
If someone said they received something which wasn’t “stocking worthy” they’d find a lump of coal in their stocking the next year.

With this year being the weirdest Christmas ever, we did ours outdoors and distanced. So I did something different and wrapped everything, stocking stuffers included, and put it al in one big bag. It was a surprise...they didn’t know if they were opening a tube of Carmex or a gift card or socks...big gift or little. It was kind of funny. Two boys and a might as well be daughter in law pulling out stuff from the bags and not knowing what it might be.
So my answer? Stockings are fun, expensive or cheap. And not fully complete without candy and toothbrush/toothpaste. lol

Anything goes in our house. There is ALWAYS a pile of stuff that doesn't fit sitting around the stocking. My DH and I fill each other's stockings. This year we had each bought each other 2 boxes of K cups. He got me amaretto that I like. It's not available nearby, so he had to go way out of his way to get it. I got him a couple of flavors you don't see all the time. We always get a new toothbrush and toothpaste. I try to make a lot of the items consumable, so we don't have a bunch of stuff piling up year after year. I also gave him some stroopwafels (honey flavor that he's never tried), a honey herb rub, and some truffle seasoning.

Stocking stuffers are small practical stuff like cord wraps, new ear buds, pens, car air freshener and fun stuff like new hot wheels, mini lego figures, candy, some goofy gag gift.
I have one kid that likes chocolate and the other prefers hard candy like jolly ranchers.
DH always put a bag of caramel ghirardelli chocolate in mine. Of course that's stocking stuffer worthy!

Stockings are our fave! We upgraded to huge stockings a couple years ago as our regular sized ones had been overflowing.
For us it’s a mix of fave candies, treats, toiletries and neat gadgets. I pick things up all year. Most items are less than $5, but for the right item will go higher lol.
Anything is stocking worthy for us! I have young adult DDs and an SO and find it hard to stop picking up little things that I know they will enjoy.

We love stockings! or, I love stockings, as I'm the one who fills them!
I try to do one funny thing that everyone, adults and children get - this year is was a parachute man - I had to buy a pack of 10, so I figured why not give to everyone! It's about 5 inches tall man with a parachute attached - you roll the parachute tightly and throw it up in the air as high as possible, and the parachute opens. It was fun!
Adults get gift certificates to grocery, restaurants, Amazon, etc. Men got gloves, Women got warm fuzzy socks. Kids got books or small toys - Lego, etc. DGD got hair ties and hairbands, There was more but I can't remember now -

We don’t do any candy in stockings.
I just buy all the things that I would normally buy as presents and then at some point before Christmas, I look at everything and see what will fit in the stockings.
This year we had nerf guns, matching baby yoda Lokai bracelets, pajamas, lego, Bluetooth speakers, power banks, sunglasses cases with sunglasses inside, swimsuits, small box games, Lego minifigs, and Harry Potter creature figures.

I demand Ghirardelli peppermint bark squares in my stocking.
Well, demand is a strong word, but I agree I found that comment really strange.
When i was a kid stockings only got candy canes, nuts, oranges, and maybe an ornament. They weren't really for gifts and I never had any such expectations. DH pities me for that and I know he was shocked when I didn't get anything other than candies for his stocking in the early years.
I still kind of hate the expectation that there must be presents in the stockings too. DH has finally toned down the stocking stuffers--i don't need all this. He loves to give gifts though, it's his "love language" as they say here.

Our stockings get anything i don't want to wrap.... this year.....
lego mini bag set bath pouf sparking cider bottle gum swedish fish socks squishy thingies headlamps altoids minis chocolate coins
can't remember what else. They're specific to each person (dd got bubble tape, ds got swedish fish, etc) but just random stuff. I probably spend way more on stockings than I do on any one gift for anyone.
