HAPPY NEW YEAR and welcome to team Joyful grammadee , jcm28 , coloradoscrapper , jjpeapea , natscraps , KikiPea , azcrafty , thwarth , vexedangel , angel97701 , @kendramage , ComplicatedLady, @patter , lynnek , joblackford and slicksister !! This is where we can ask questions, chit chat and get to know one another a little better. SOOOOO relieved to leave 2020 behind. Hopefully things will look up in 2021 in ways outside of the pandemic. I wish that had gone away with the tick of the clock as well! I love seeing so many joining in this month! Please tell us little about yourself! I live in MO, where we have winter weather today which is perfect as far as I'm concerned lol. Great day for scrapping and putting last years layouts into albums. I'll be scrapping today with my mom and niece on google meetings. I hope to finish something and start the year out on a positive, productive scrappy note. I have two grown sons, and a 6yo DGS who is the subject of most of my layouts. Although I recently became cat mom to a senior named Abby. She is keeping me in line with a bed time and early waking lol. I usually scrap 12x12, but I'm thinking of doing a true PL album this year - it will be 12x12 as well, as I'm on a mission to reduce my stash this year. I'm also going to try a 6x8 album for the first time with my 2020 JYC album and OLW for 2021. No New Years Day traditions here - other than the putting away of finished layouts, and taking it easy. I hope you all have a wonderful first day of the new year. I've never looked forward to a new year the way I have this year! If you have any questions about the challenges feel free to ask, and grammadee will help you sort it out . JK!

Well, good morning from a cloudy/rainy South Carolina. So glad to be included in the challenge. My two goals for myself for 2021 was to be joyful and to scrap more. If you noticed, there is a thingey going around Facebook to use a word that starts with your first name. I chose Joy. So it seems serendipitous that I was assigned to the Joyful group!
My siggie tells a little about me. I just turned 67. I worked in a large, metropolitan hospital in Orlando for 31 years in the CVICU. I loved it (most of the time, except for a certain doctor who was the bane of my existence). I now feel guilty that I can no longer help my co-workers in this impossible, awful time. I retired in 2018, we sold our house in Orlando and moved to South Carolina. We actually signed a contract on this house, sight unseen, on I-95! A leap of faith for us. I quilt, sew, cross stitch but have barely scrapped anything since we moved here. I *did* finish my 2016 Alaska album. It only took me 3 years. I scrap 12x12 exclusively. I have a huge, overcrowded scrap room and I pledge to not buy any new product (except maybe adhesive) in 2021. I could make 50 scrapbook with my stash. I opened a Flickr account this morning and am going to participate daily.
2020 was a bust (except for losing some weight) and I am hopeful and JOYFUL to welcome 2021.

Good afternoon from cloudy/rainy North Carolina. I have been scrapping since 1998 but I have been crafting for over 45 years. I crochet, cross stitch, sew, do mixed media art, scrapbook, make cards, ATCs, you name it! I have scrapped ALL sizes even make-up sizes but right now I am loving the TN size. 8 1/2 x 11 is my largest size of choice. I do not like 12x12. I really didn't scrap much last year. I did more of my journaling and art but I feel like I want to get back to scrapping some of my photos because I LOVE looking at the photos I take--remembering times with family, etc. I think I have undiagnosed ADD because I literally have 20 projects going at once and bounce around. Oh dear. So, we will see what I get accomplished in 2021!

Good Afternoon from snowy MN! (full disclaimer, I hate snow/ice/winter)
I mostly scrap 12x12, if you have read my struggles with 7x7 albums you will know I was gifted a few of these and have been trying to make them work. I am working on one for Fall 2020, as we had a lot happen this fall, both in the world at large and personally. So I thought an ablum dedicated to Fall 2020 was a good idea. We will see. I also enjoy making cards.
I started the "Make 50 pages before you buy anything else" thread on the main scrap page, so I am in the middle of that right now. I am holding strong, have 46 pages to go I believe. My favorite Christmas gift was my Phive desk lamp. It is amazing and so much better than the 2 Ott lights I have owned. Best 68 dollars DH ever spent.
I don't do any other crafts, but I do play Magic the Gathering somewhat competitively, (well as best as one can during these times) so that takes up about all the time I can spare from scrapbooking. I try to play at least 2 hrs a day.
I miss scrapbooking in person and going to crops, so this is great to be able to connect with other people! Good luck everyone!

Hello from the rainy Pacific NW. Nothing new there... It rains here most of the time, 10 months of the year. We don't tell people about the other 2 months of perfection because we have enough people here already. I'm from NZ originally, came here by way of Japan, my spouse grew up one town over from where we live now. It's just the two of us. My profile picture is me but I don't have wings IRL and I wear less pink these days.
I take tons of photos, make lots of cards when the pandemic isn't breathing down my neck, and scrap mostly in photo books. I did some paper scrapping this year and it drove me around the bend so I think I will let go of any project bigger than a TN unless it's 80% digital. I have a card business so as a manufacturer this month is inventory, taxes, and realizing I should've been making Valentines for the past 3 months. Sigh.
My interests include minimalism and van life, dreaming of getting rid of everything and running away somewhere, staying home, walking places because I don't drive, talking/typing too much, and trying to read more than last year. Joy is the alternate name I sometimes claim instead of Jo, and was a contender for my word for 2020, but I think *delight* is what's speaking to me, along with slow (down), one, and deep (year 3 of deep).
Ok, I'm going to go read now. Then I'll start making photo book pages and racking up the POINTS!

Hello from sunny northeastern Alberta! Of course, nearing 4:00PM the sun is already sinking in January... a nice day today, a balmy -8C. I know because I spent most of the day looking for our adventurous dogs. We have a “invisible fence” that gives them a shock through their collar if they cross it. Dh thought they would be fine without their collars this morning. They saw their opportunity and vanished! Both back now.
I am a retired Adult Ed instructor, wife of 52+ years (although after the collar incident I was nearly a divorcee or an incarcerated widow), mother of four adult “kids” and gramma to 11. I scrap mostly 12x12 pages, and mostly about my dgk’s. I also make most of our cards. Each year I scrap the pages for next year’s family calendar. Had planned to get December done today, but, you know, dogs...
Happy New Year, everyone! I like the Joyful theme. Peace and Joy are always goals for me, and this is my happy place. Looking forward to playing with you!

Another one from the Pacific Northwest, but from the desert side of the mountains. The Cascades keep most of the rain in the western part of the states . . . I live in Central Oregon on 6 acres with my DH, DS15, 4 German Shepherds, one indoor kitty, and during the summer 2 steer. We just enjoyed some of the beef from the latest butcher 2 nights ago. I grew a huge garden this summer as my covid release, and have a new greenhouse that I have lettuce, peas, carrots, potatoes, and a few herbs trying to grow. No supplemental light, but I do heat it so on the really cold nights I don't lose everything. I also have a compost tumbler and a 35 gallon garbage can filled with water to keep the heat mass index higher.
I've been crafting all my life, my mom taught me well. I mostly do paper crafts, some home decor stuff etc. I've been scrapping since 1997 and making cards etc since 1994. I have a HUGE supply of stamps, dies, paper, mixed media and so on all in my own room. I primarily scrap 12 x 12, with the occasional mini album thrown in here and there. I make cards for special occasions and for the just for fun DT I've been a part of for over 6 years. I did the double page team for Stick It Down DT for about 2 years . . . but the summer really gave my mojo a dive. I've also been on the Imagine DT for two years, then Quick Quotes for one, now a guest designer for Imagine again for 2021.
I am essentially a retired science teacher . . . I've subbed and done long term jobs since I married my husband 16 years ago. But with the total shut down of schools in Oregon, I've not worked since March and I am fine with that. DH is an aerospace engineer, and in high demand for his expertise and consulting services. He has some really cool projects I would love to share, but we have NDAs. One is related to launching infrastructure telecommunication satellites, the other is using high speed drones to deliver emergency medical supplies to the scene of the emergency. With his work load and caring for DS15, I don't know that I will do much subbing when the schools do open!
Perhaps the most personal thing I need to share is that I am an adoptive mother of two boys from Russia who've been home for over 11 years. Both suffer from extreme developmental childhood trauma (think PTSD wired into their hind brain for a fight/fright/freeze mentality). Siblings 1 and 4, sibling 2 died at 6 months, sibling 3 died at age 4 before they spent 3 years in Russian orphanages. Older son intellectually is OK and graduated from HS in 2018 with a 3.6 and 9 varsity letters, so he has some skills. But substance abuse has way-laid him, his is currently on his 9th job in 30 months, living in a homeless shelter, and a drop-out from a substance abuse program. He is hoping to get back into Job Corps. My younger son is borderline Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, highly functioning and looks "normal", but it's like living with an 8 year old (emotionally/intellectually) with a 15 year old attitude. Substances are a huge issue (due to his brother's influence & poor friend choices) and our home is totally locked down. He is on a modified diploma plan for HS, which has been all virtual so far. He is a decent athlete and wrestler. We sent him to Wilderness Therapy at great expense for 80 days, and most of the gains have not stuck. Mostly because of his IQ and his verbal percentile is only at the 5th for his age level. When everything hit the fan in April, our family went into a tail spin, both boys in treatment. DS15 in on the cusp of functionality because of all the enrichment we provide, and my next hurdle is to get him qualified for the county and state programs for Intellectual/Development Disabilities. If you want to read more details there is a more in depth discussion on a GoFundMe page help Peter Cole. I'm not asking you to donate by any means, but just so you know if I disappear it's because things have gone south again.
The CARES act will help us out a great deal as we took retirement funds out due to Covid isolation and that Job Corps sent older DS home to which was a huge negative influence on younger DS. We may not have to pay the taxes on the the retirement funds we withdrew to allow us to send him to Wilderness Therapy. It was imperative that he go, as we actually feared he would commit suicide or accidentally overdose on something.
Hope that everyone had a fantastic beginning to the New Year of 2021, and may things improve from here!

Loving all the introductions. Great to get to know everyone better. Just butting in to let you know joyfulnana that I had put jjpeapea onto this team in error. She was actually listed for BOTH teams. So I have deleted her name from our team list.

yay for serendipity jcm28! I have been thinking a lot lately about the lack of Joy I've been feeling the past couple of years. I'm ready to find ways to be more joyful - besides in being a nana lol. My scrap space is full. Like there is literally not room for one more sheet of paper. @patter I have sooooo many ideas and things I want to create and I know I will not get to them all. There's something about the new year that causes me to have some grand plans though lol. @kendramage I've been lurking on your 50 pages thread lol. I want to do that, but I know better than to publicly commit because then I fall flat on my face lol. It would take me a year to finish that many pages, and while I am definitely slowing down my shopping, I know I will shop before I reach 50 pages. 15 would be a long time of not shopping for me lol. joblackford I thought long and hard about deep for my word this year. I chose simplify and less. And I think those will both work with deep as well. I'm going to be majorly purging things, but not craft supplies. It never fails I regret that and have actually ended up rebuying. But if I can downsize the rest of this place I'm going to be very happy. angel97701 I'm sorry the therapy isn't sticking for DS15. My youngest son is an addict and has done some stints homeless. It sucks and it's so hard to watch. He's pulling himself together in the past 6 months and I'm hoping it lasts. I don't quite trust it yet. Your garden and greenhouse sound wonderful! grammadee you make me laugh! I'm sorry the dogs got loose and took your scrappy time to find them. Thanks or letting me know about jjpeapea - I'll take her off my list so I'm not trying to collect her points the end of the month lol. I knit, crochet and have dabbled in cross stitching. But I have pretty much dropped all of those hobbies in favor of scrapbooking. It's been my main hobby since I started it. Well I have a cat that is feeling neglected so I'm going to watch a bit of Netflix and cuddle with her. It's great to get to know all of you better. I'm looking forward to a fun, crafty month with you!

For sure, I can just imagine! Although my dogs are pretty territorial, German Shepherds don't tend to wander because they have a job to do, protect their home and family. But I will tell you we've rescued all kinds of dogs here on our corner property and called owners. We have a couple of dog kennels that we can keep them in until the owners can show up. Like to keep the Humane Society out of the loop. BUT it's really irritating when owners don't put collars on their dogs! Yes, grammadee I would be livid as well!

Hi, I'm new here. My name is Ann Marie, I have been scrapbooking since 2004. Married, with 2 kids, 7 and 9. I'm a music therapist (working with special needs students on their IEP goals through music-based interventions). I'm also in Missouri! Used to be in KC, moved to STL area last year. Working on a Disney album this year, as well as trying to step up my cardmaking game. I also recently started making regular scrappy videos on YouTube. Looking forward to trying this out! <3

@patter we changed the sharing thread up a little bit and put it on the GS board. The January sharing thread. I would link it, but I can't get something to link right to save my soul lol. And then things like photo challenge and all the other challenges are here on the challenges board. It takes a little getting used to finding things at first. ETA: Looks like there is a sharing thread on this board too. I didn't see it earlier. You can post them in either or both @patter.

Hi - I am Lynne and I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado with my husband and three kids. Although my oldest who is 22 just bought his first home and moved out at the beginning of December. My daughter is 17 and you younger son is 12. We own a business where we rent out semi trailers and storage containers for temporary storage. My husband and I , along with my two brothers own and work in the business. I have been lucky enough to be able to stay home with the kids as they have been at home for school. Last year I really floundered in my scrapping and what I wanted to do. I am going to go back to Project life this year and try doing it in Heidi Swapp’s storyline albums. I will try it for January and see how it goes. 😀 I also have decided that I want to make sure to send out cards to my extended family on a regular basis so I will be making those too. I have two good friends that are my IRL scrapping buddies. When we were scrapping at one point I mentioned that I enjoyed doing these monthly challenges so I’ve of my friends, coloradocropper, joined in this month. Yeah! 😀

Hi everyone! I'm Deb from Colorado Springs. I'm married to a computer geek by day and drummer by night and mountain biker whenever the weather cooperates. We've been married 30 years and in that time we've accumulated some offspring. Our oldest son is 27, #2 son will be 24 in a week or so, #3 son is 21, and our #4 DD is a senior in high school. We will have two graduations in May, one from college and one high school. We're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! I've been lucky that DH encourages my adventures while I figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Pretty much have been a SAHM with the exception of stints working for a school district, a home decor business with 2 friends, and most recently in Billing (that wasn't so fun and did nothing for my creative soul so I said adios to that one pretty quick). Like I said, I have an exceptional DH!
I've dabbled in quilting, cross stitch, and I love to read. This year I've made an intentional effort to read more and thus my scrapbooking fell off. However, I figured that out with Audio Books though so in 2021 I plan to be back in triple digits with my layout count. For years, I've tracked my yearly layout count and it motivates me. Scrapbooking is my life long hobby (26 years!). I can't see myself ever not creating pages and telling our stories. I admire different formats however I stick to 12 x 12 layouts and pocket pages for School of Life for my kids and vacation albums. I like how they look on my Kallax all lined up chronologically in different album colors.
My IRL scrappy pal (LynneK) posted above me. We have a third partner in crime, Jessica, and between the 3 of us we do a fair job of enabling each other. I'm a lucky gal for these friendships!
I've loved reading everyone's introductions. I think this is going to be a fantastic year of fun challenges. I look forward to seeing your creations!

Oh boy, I see the huge need for a spread sheet to track all these challenges! haha! Actually once the challenge thread closes, gramma links up a spreadsheet. We've got you covered! I love getting to know more about everyone! I spent a total of 12 hours scrapping this long weekend. Got one page finished lol. I want to get my OLW album set up today. Started printing the cards last night and I'm out of black ink If you haven't joined in on a virtual crop, I hope you will! msliz is hosting one every weekend. It's so good to have company to craft with. I don't have anyone near here that scraps and local crops aren't happening yet.

Hey Joyfuls! Don't forget to add your OWN challenges today. I will close the thread for additions after this evening, but you have until then to put in yours.
If the categories have you stumped, just list the challenge and I can slot it in to the list.
Try to add something that will motivate you to start crafting--or keep doing what you ARE doing, or to use up supplies you have neglected lately, or try something new you have been putting off...
You get a point for our team for every challenge--up to 8--that you post.

Oh boy, I see the huge need for a spread sheet to track all these challenges! It doesn't seem so overwhelming after a while. Or if it does there's always easy peasy point tallying. I don't really thrive off challenges and don't have much time so I tend not to do much more than skim the challenges for easy points (spend, no spend, etc). Either way is fine, just do what suits you, but it's a good idea to tally points as you go!

I forgot to mention the other thing I will complain about frequently here - I've been selling the collectible old junk from my in-law's very large house for the past year. It's a HUGE job and it takes up a lot of my time. Lots of cleaning, organizing, researching, and messaging with flakey people. I just tallied last year's transactions and I did ~154 sales, many were multiple item sales, almost all sold through Fbk Marketplace. A lot of work, which might explain why I'm exhausted. I should mention that the house is still completely full. I want to cry when I think about how full...
