I stopped by my TM a few weeks ago and things looked very sad and they had also shrunk down the paper crafting section. This store had been one of the largest ones for scrapbooking stuff in town.
Between that stop and reading these post, I'm glad I had been in shopping/hoarding mode the past 2 years every time I went into TM. I always felt like I better buy it cause you never know when it was gonna stop. And damn if I'm now sorry I ever thought thought that cause here we are! 😞

I saw a bunch of cardstock from a company with a V name. Left with nothing. Violet Studio? I saw some for the first time last week - haven't heard of the brand before.
If anyone gets some, please share your thoughts about it - quality, etc. They had quite a bit, with packs of solids and special finishes - glitter, foil, etc.
other than that, the only new stuff I have seen lately are the art supplies - markers, paints and the art-kits. They did seem to get a good bit of plastic craft storage, which I hadn't seen in ages....maybe 6 rolls of vinyl - AC brand. I was there on the weekend though, so the folks that get there earlier in the week buy up the new items (per the clerk - there are folks that "buy them out" of certain things when they come in)

I stopped in Tuesday Morning a of couple days ago and was shocked - the paper craft aisle has dwindled down to part of one side with lots of empty shelf space and that included fabric and yarn supplies. The other side of the aisle was all home dec items. The manager once told me hers was the store with the second largest craft inventory in the entire country. She recognized me and said she hadn't seen me in awhile (darn pandemic!) and we chatted about the decimation of the craft section. She told me to give it a year before the store approached anything like its former level.

Sadly, no new inventory in papercrafts again this week. IIRC I've only bought packs of 12x12 neutral single-colored Bazzill cardstock this entire calendar year! I went to my TM a few days ago, and they were already closed for the night it was only like 7:30 pm and google said they were open til 10! Lol guess not... It appears Google hasn't updated since the holidays when TM had extended hours. Here TM stores are were open until 7pm daily, except on Sundays when they closed at 6pm. Hours were recently revised to 10am-7pm on Sundays through Thursdays & 10am-8pm on Fridays & Saturdays.

I saw it the other day. It was 40 sheets for $7.99. Seemed a little pricey for Tuesday Morning. You could still get 25 sheets of Bazzill for $3.99 a few weeks ago. I couldn't tell the quality though.

Our has about 10 new sets of Gemini dies. They were the nested shapes. That was all that came in for paper crafts per the manager.

I haven't been to my TM in at least a couple months. They just weren't getting anything in or if they were it was such a small number it was snatched before I ever saw it. But I visited Annapolis, MD and stopped. Pretty much anything anyone has talked about in a haul was there. What a contrast from my store. Unfortunately, I just didn't see a whole lot that I felt I needed. So strange to have the products right in front of you and not be tempted. The only thing I bought was a Simple Stories Magical Birthday Kit. After I got home and went through it, I found that 3 out of the 12 papers were from other lines. Not a huge deal to me, but you may want to take a look if it's important to you.

Nothing new again this week. A clerk told me the entire store was scheduled for a reset next week. It was her understanding everything is getting rearranged & prioritized for new types of inventory, but she didn’t know specifics & had not heard anything about the status of crafts.

I am hoping that the Echo Park sticker packs go from 20% off to 75% off soon. I have seen a few items do that. I believe 75% off is the last sale price and then they get trashed. My store got some of the Violet Studio papers in glitter, but I don't know when it came in. If there was anything else the last few weeks, I don't know what it was. Our shipment came in a day late and the employee said he didn't remember seeing any crafts on the invoice.

The only new papercrafting items this week were a handful of Park Lane patterned paper pads (48 sheets for $5.99; it appears to be a Jo-Ann house brand). All of the 25-sheet packs of the same dated, thin, one-sided, & obscure-themed patterned papers have been moved to the clearance section. The rest of the craft aisle consists of a half dozen half-filled paper racks, a few pegs of embellishments, a handful of marker sets, plastic storage, & sewing supplies. The top & bottom shelves are completely empty. The sparse aisle resembles last year after reopening. Hopefully it’s just an in progress stage of the scheduled reset & they’re making room for new papercraft items. ETA: ...I am hoping that the Echo Park sticker packs go from 20% off to 75% off soon. I have seen a few items do that. I believe 75% off is the last sale price and then they get trashed... None of the (few) existing EP items on clearance at this store have been reduced more than 20%.

New items this week include: - Graphic 45 mini paper pads, embellishment packs, & same pattern bulk paper packs from the Life is a Journey line - Jane Davenport, Mont Marte, & firefly brand markers, pens, paints, & brush sets - WRMK scissors, punch boards, & foam/silicone mats ...I am hoping that the Echo Park sticker packs go from 20% off to 75% off soon. This particular store is in a more affluent area compared to others &, according to employees pre-pandemic, was a national leader in overall sales. Due to turnover, it always has a considerably smaller clearance section than other locations; sales data may suggest these items will sell without further price reduction at this store.

Both of my stores were in the top 10% of craft sales (pre-pandemic). I loved it when they went from one side of the aisle to both sides. My manager mentioned months ago when they first found out about the new two-tiered red sticker items that instead of pulling product due to a date on the merchandise that they would get a list of items to pull and red sticker. It would make sense that an area with high sales wouldn't have the same amount of product to pull as those with more mediocre sales. I do wonder if the lists of discounted items changes from store to store or area to area.

I stopped by TM today to kill time while DH was in his cardiac therapy. I did see some new things. One Graphic 45 line, although not much of it, plus a few other things.
Except for the cardstock and 6x6 pads, nearly everything else that they had there the last couple of months is on clearance.
They had rearranged the aisle. More needlework/stitchery products, and it looks like they are either getting ready for more scrapbook stuff, or are phasing most of it out permanently.

Went in today. Had not been in for 2+ weeks. They (2 different stores) had about 10 different Parklane paper pads, trimmers, WRMK boards, and some Graphic 45 paper pads and ephemera. One of the stores also had some G45 paper packs (of 25) for $4.99. Had to laugh because all of the Karen Foster paper was on clearance for $2.50 and it was originally $3.99. So maybe they are being more realistic with the packs of 25 now. Old G45 papers (25) used to $5.99 three or four years ago.
I ended up buying some G45 with birds on it. I have some great parrot pictures from Florida. I also bought a pack of KF paper (that I have made fun of for months) that has Putt-Putt sayings and graphics on it. I figure for a dime a sheet, I have a few years of little kid pictures I could use some of it on. If anyone needs and miniature golf paper from 20??, let me know. I have plenty!

A friend was running late for lunch today, so I stopped by TM en route to the restaurant to waste time. The craft section has been downsized from an entire side to half of one side of the aisle, since I was in the store on Monday afternoon. Yarn occupies the majority of the designated craft space, while papercrafting consists of the few items with 0521 & 0621 stickers (e.g. Violet Studio cardstock, various brand markers/pens/paints/brush sets) at regular price & all other products (e.g. patterned paper packs/pads, embellishments) on clearance (at 20% off). It appears the craft aisle is being eliminated at this store (although uncertain about any of the other ~10 stores in the metro area, since this is the only one I've visited in the past several weeks/months due to lack of new inventory).

On Friday I went into a TM that I haven't been to in about a year. They used to have a long aisle for scrapbook supplies. Now it's down to about a 8' area. They had about six 6x8 paper pad and embellishment bundles, a few stamps, a couple of wrmk punch boards, packs of 25 papers that looked very dated, and no 12x12 paper pads. I kept circling around thinking the 12x12 paper pads would be on an end cap but there weren't any. So sad. I didn't buy anything.
Have any of you seen scrapbook supplies popping up in any other discount stores?

I hear so many different things, that I am not sure why they would get rid of crafts when it is one of their best sellers. If it is true, maybe they just can't get the crafts discounted like they used to pre pandemic. I guess time will tell.

Went today for the first time in awhile and my TM was down to 2 shelving units of sparsely populated scrap supplies. You know what replaced it? 5 shelving units of decorative boxes. Who the heck is buying those in large quantities. Hope they lose money having to clearance those out 👎🏻

I noticed lots of decorative boxes, too. Not interested.
Most of the scrapbook papers and packs are being clearanced, and the $14 marked down to $12 were actually $5 at the TM I went to on Friday.
It really looks like the scrapbook finds at TM are coming to an end. Sad.

Ah, I get my intel mostly from the manager at Academy. . He is not happy about the lack of crafts. I have seen people on FB that have posted the email address for customer service and suggested everyone write them. Several of them have gotten responses saying crafts is not going away. Maybe they just mean not all crafts are going away. Did you see the Big Shots? They used to be $49.99 and are now $79.99. It looks like the same box. That is quite the jump in price if I am remembering the price from earlier correctly.

TM has been my "secret" discount scrapbooking store since... 2008ish. The scrapbooking aisle is the only reason I shop there

950nancy, you are not remembering wrong. I bought one for $49.99 pre-COVID, and just saw one at TM on Friday for $79.99. I assume that raising their prices was thought to be necessary to work their way out of bankruptcy faster. It looks like the retail price of the Big Shot is about $120, so it’s better than paying full price, but TM’s discounts aren’t as good as they used to be. It’s possible that they will always have a small area devoted to crafts, but paper crafting is not as popular as it once was. I assume they are probably going to put more trendy crafts in whatever small craft space they keep.

Note TM exited from bankruptcy in January: www.bizjournals.com/dallas/news/2021/01/04/tuesday-morning-emerges-from-chapter-11.htmlGiven the pandemic impacted every industry & costs have increased, it’s not surprising if TM can’t buy & sell product at the same low prices. The apparent elimination of papercrafts suggest they aren’t profitable or considered an avenue to increase future profitability &/or the company lost craft customers during the pandemic due to lack of selection &/or prices higher than they were willing to pay. Per an assistant manager, the store will continue to have a crafts section but without scrapbooking/stamping products for the most part. The company has determined the cost in time & square footage to count, price, store, & maintain the numerous small physical & priced items in the craft section could better be used for larger physical & profit items that further its expansion in furniture & home decor.
