scrappintoee I used to follow DL & Collin on IG because he seemed funny when he would Guest post on her Blog. However, there was a post while they were on vacation somewhere a while back and he said something about having sex with his wife. A follower of his said he crossed a line and he went off. He not only went off on her, he shamed her, gaslighted her, and then proceeded to bash her any chance he could. It was horrible. I was done with both of them after that. This was prior to lying to a cop - as Booty mentioned. They've both always overshared and when I found out he'd gone from making videos for a living (Ali's, for example) to trying to "save the kids" I couldn't roll my eyes hard enough. DL's spiral has been insane, even if you just skim her thread, you'll be shocked. These people who use their kids for clicks disgust me and I hope their Gods have a special place saved for them when their time comes.

The younger generation is fighting back at the lack of consent, the lack of income set aside for the kids who are being exploited, etc. It's absolutely shocking how the income distribution remains completely lopsided even when children become adults. Jim Bob Duggar kept a tight reign on the TLC cash flow and all children, including the grown up and married ones, were dependent on his good will to receive their salary. Just appalling. Jill Duggar, the cast aside daughter now no longer allowed to the family house without explicit consent from the parents, talked openly about receiving just minimum wage for appearing on the Counting On show, supposedly a show meant to focus on the grown up kids. But daddy dearest continued to control all the income. I cannot fathom how this was legal. She had to get a lawyer involved to get her fair share of income. The third season of Welcome to Plathville is about to start and I really hope the kids on that show get a far better financial treatment from TLC. Considering how much of the narrative is directed by the married off son and his wife, I would think so. But still, I have moments watching those episodes where I just start wondering. I can't look away because I want to see the other young adult children break away from the family cult life. Run, be free, and be paid directly by TLC, straw-haired babies.

But at least when a 3rd PARTY is paying, there are laws, (in the US at least) that say that a certain percent of a child actor's money must be set aside for them in escrow (not sure if reality TV is child acting). But for mommy-bloggers who make their large incomes on the "antics" of the kids, I don't think that applies. So the kids have their childhood privacy compromised and can walk away with nothing. It is awful.

It is awful. Alas, no safety net for reality TV kids in the US from a federal POV either. Considering the succession laws in most US states, they aren't protected once the parent passes away if the money was wisely invested and not spent either (which is a huge if). It's so weird to me as a non-American that a parent can basically disinherit a child in the US.

If you want to really see what's up with family/mommy vloggers check out Dad Challenge Podcast on youtube. For the last year he has been on a campaign to get these people to realize that they are exploiting their kids, kids can't give consent, etc. He has a few videos where he paid for analytics for a few channels and you can see it's adult men watching these videos. Very interesting content.

sleepingbooty A couple of years ago, the French law decided that reality TV was acting. People in these TV shows are paid by the hour (or so I read). While I don't know about children specifically, I suppose it's the same for them. But as I mentioned, that's in France.

sleepingbooty A couple of years ago, the French law decided that reality TV was acting. People in these TV shows are paid by the hour (or so I read). While I don't know about children specifically, I suppose it's the same for them. But as I mentioned, that's in France. Yeah, generally speaking, Europe is ahead of the US in terms of offering protection but then again, we don't really have the large family reality TV series phenomon that they're dealing with in the US (Jon & Kate + 8, 19 and Counting, Outdaughtered, Sweet Home Sextuplets, Table for 12, Sextuplets Take New York, Quints by Surprise, Bringing Up Bates, 6 Little McGhees, Doubling Down With the Derricos, Welcome to Plathville just off the top of my head). It's very alarming because the bulk of people performing on camera here are children. Two adults reap the benefits of often 10+ children providing the entertainment. While they often require the cameras to make ends meet and live a more or less "normal" life financially speaking, the kids are left without compensation for the surrendering of their privacy. In France, too, we have a brand new law from last year protecting influencer kids on YouTube, Instagram and elsewhere online but as some specialists have noted, there are loopholes such as family vlogs where yet again, children and minors are left in a grey zone. We need to push for more proactive thinking and reconsider children's lives as entertainment in general. But hey, until then, it's time to pimp, pimp, pimp. Venmo for chicken nuggies, y'all!

sleepingbooty----WOW! Thank you for going down a rabbit hole to find out Collin spoke at Anasazi! Do any of you know about Mormom influencer Jordan "I HAVE EIGHT KIDS !!!!" Page? Sheesh, I wonder if she's aware of Anasazi? I'm glad the Mormons I associate with would roll their eyes and see the scam that she is.
He has a few videos where he paid for analytics for a few channels and you can see it's adult men watching these videos. Very interesting content. Ugh. The things you DON'T think about! It's the exploitation of these kids that I thought about and not the actual viewing audience.

Maybe because I grew up in an area with big families (more than six was considered on the big side), I haven't seen the appeal. My dad had 15 siblings. Every now and then I'll read blog snark on reddit to read about the current influencers. I usually feel better about my life.

And he particularly liked to snark on the mommy bloggers which of course his own wife was. Thank you for reminding me of that. I can't believe that my brain let me forget that !!! I wanted to vomit when I saw the video of him calling women "SLUTS" What would his children, plus allll the ones he was trying to "save" think of that ? P.S..... In the above Anasazi vid, where he calls his children "cry pods" ..ohhh, that is sooooo hilarious and unique ....NOT! And that's how Collin made his living. He was a paid speaker. Just like the influencers he made fun of, I didn't realize he made fun of so many influencers! Again, I ask---what do his CHILDREN think of him calling women SLUTS ! ? ! And, what about Lizzy...she was okay with that? Seriously? What about his devoted followers, listening to his heart-wrenching stories of teens who told him they were suicidal, self-harming, etc. I'm sure many of their parents are very thankful to Collin for helping their kids, but do they know how much of a hypocrite he was? Insulting women, lying about getting ticket over honking, etc. OMG, I'd forgotten that ticket story!!! I'm surprised he didn't ask the officer "do you know WHO I AM? (a la Reese Witherspoon---ugh!**) As if the policeman would know who he was because of his amount of followers on Intsa!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ** For those that don't know, a few years ago, Reese Witherspoon was pulled over for DUI. She allegedly asked the police officer "do you know WHO I AM?" Ever since then, I lost all respect for her! As if being a celeb forgives you for drinking and potentially killing/ injuring many people. hijack over

I wish MANY of her followers had asked her if she'd considered that she could have donated that card to a family who was struggling financially due to Covid.

"The boy is my buddy"?!
What a strange way to put it. I would have expected " I know the kid" Or "he's a nice kid" or something along these lines but "the boy is MY buddy" followed by "I texted him and asked him if he wanted cake" is horrifying to me. Did her daughter agreed to that too ?
I'm not familiar with Dear Lizzy, but I have the feeling it's all about her.

Her followers were Venmo-ing her money with comments like "for nuggies", literally financially backing her social media gift card destruction, and then Liz proudly IG-storied screenshots. It was downright ghastly, especially in the midst of the first phase of the pandemic where so many people in the US were left jobless and hungry.

"The boy is my buddy"
This comes across as....
Mrs Kartchner.....
Trying desperately to be the "cool" Mom.
Wants to be her kids bff instead of the traditional parent role.
Is probably hanging out with her kid, the boyfriend, the other girls and boys/teens who are at their house. Flopping on the couch with them, hanging in the yard with them, right up in the middle of it all. Probably flirting with the teen boys.
She can't even let her daughter have her first kiss moment in private. She had to make it all about her, with her inappropriate post about it. She is very narcissist.

Y'all, Collin Kartchner was once speaking for... the Anasazi Foundation! I kid you not. The camp where Becky sent her "troubled" Claire. It's all just one web of organisations propping each other up on social media, I swear. There should be a South Park episode about this! Oh, wait… dum dum dum dum dummmmm…!

followed by " I texted him and asked him if he wanted cake" is horrifying to me. Did her daughter agreed to that too ? I can only think of two times I texted my child's friend. Both were emergency situations. Even if I had a reason for asking my kid's friend something, I would say to my child, hey text or call your friend about whatever.

Good God, I just saw Dear Lizzy's stories (I don't know why I still follow, I can't help myself) and she has a video of her clearly un seatbelted daughter sticking her head out the car window while going at a fairly good clip. She is in the front seat leaving me to wonder who the hell is filming and who is driving? I'm getting strong Nie Nie flashbacks. I’m getting flashbacks of the movie “Hereditary.” That movie scared the hell out of me.

Please forgive me, I’m late to the thread and just binged it all in one sit down. I just wanted to comment on something from awhile back. It has to do with her not mentioning the cause of death.
While I am totally appalled at her behavior and shocked at how disgraceful it is, and yet I do wholeheartedly believe that it is her right to keep it private—though she keeps basically nothing else private—one other part of it comes to mind. Since she’s still trying to get sympathy and money, I do find it curious that she hasn’t mentioned the cause of death because I can totally envision her trying so hard to be that “let’s raise awareness for X!” kind of slacktivism person.
Slacktivism is a real problem and I never saw it as that until I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 34. It was amazing how much purely pointless bullshit gets posted to try to say to your followers how wonderful you are for doing shit that benefits no one.
Maybe that’s being saved for later when maskless, ambush cookies at Walmart, and the other crap stops working.

I found it quite odd and a bit ironic that someone who was concerned about saving kids, did nothing to protect his own kids by having some type of life insurance policy....

Generally I’d never think that of regular people who’ve lost a loved one, but clearly the Katchners are not regular people. Lizzy has turned his death and her grief into a public performance. She has profited off airing her sads, her anger, and everything in between. It doesn’t track for me that she is keeping the cause of death a secret. This isn’t a woman who values privacy. She has exploited Collin’s death for money and attention from the start. It makes me suspect she’s either a) planning some sort of fundraiser situation in which that info will be revealed very dramatically, or b) that his cause of death was something unsavory that she doesn’t want people to know about.

There was some recent speculation that she was going to start some sort of non-profit? Anyone heard anything?
