Hopefully the high of two wins will help you float through the day!! I’ve enjoyed watching the results and the running commentary from my fellow political Peas!

For fucks sake, I'm going to have a heart attack! I have stayed off the internet and not watched TV all day. But it got the better of me and so I'm on here. I'm trying not to have hope. But really could this happen? I need to go to bad it's 1:35 am.

I’ve been watching off and on all through the night here across the pond 🥺 I’m now at a hospital appointment with my son feeling like I need matchsticks in my eyes 😬
Prayers that the Dems prevail . There has to be the start of the end of this madness and time to heal 🙏

I hope it sticks. I am in shock. Dems are historically very difficult to get to turn out reliably so I figured this would be a sweeping red victory. Goes to show we have our limits. Even in just keeping it close without results confirmed, GA dems have so much to be proud of.
In terms of our national turnout this election cycle, I hope that this is a wakeup call for democrats about the value of their voice and that the anger that drove them to the polls this election cycle drives them to vote reliably every election for the rest of their lives. Don't wait until you're seething, prevent this clusterfuck from happening ever again in the first place.

We should crown Stacey Abrams queen of America! Yes! And yet at every chance she gets she talks about the other organizers, all the people who got out to register voters, everyone else who contributed...etc. But that is the mark of a good leader -- one who can motivate and encourage everyone else to accomplish a goal.

I'm assuming...hoping...that one of you guys will declare the result in clear easy-to-understand-for-non-Americans when it happens?! Please and thank you From what I understand it goes something like this: Republicans hold 50 of the 100 seats in the US Senate, while the Democrats have 48, including two independents, who usually vote with the democrats. If the Democrats win these two seats, the Senate will see a 50-50 tie, where the deciding vote for anything that needs to be passed will be cast by the Vice President, Kamala Harris who is a Democrat. That means that the democrats have " control" of the Senate. In reality this gives them more power to get any legislations through. They need those two seats though otherwise it will still be controlled by the republicans as a 49-51 Senate to the republicans. The democrats it seems, according to some reports, have already gained one of the seats, the second is still in the balance reading some of the latest reports. I don't think all the votes have been counted yet or at least not enough of a margin to make the lead relevant at this stage.

According to NPR, which I think uses data from the AP, 98% of the vote is in. I think the rest is expected by 1 pm today. www.npr.org/

And don't forget the other FANTASTIC result -- Weasel Mitch loses his job as Majority Leader!!! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha SO NOT SORRY! He who said years ago that his only goal was going to be to block everything that President Obama proposed.

Unbelievable news!! So happy and relieved to see these results from Georgia. May love and rationality continue to rule in the US! Excited for what this means the Biden presidency will be able to achieve.

Also, many oldies here know this, but I am a (fairly well disillusioned) Republican and a never-Trumper. I laughed my ass off this morning when I woke up and saw the headlines. F them. They have reaped what they enabled that MF-er to sow.

I have to say I'm really surprised by this outcome. I had not even followed these races that closely since runoffs almost always favor Republicans due to in person turnout. An amazing job by Stacey Abrams and whoever else is leading the get-out-the-vote effort in Georgia.
The biggest win for me is the possibility of McConnell being relieved of his duties as Majority Leader. That's almost as good as getting rid of Trump. Not everything the House sends to the Senate should be approved but it should at least be considered. McConnell has made the personal decision to kill most of the legislation sent to him, abusing his extraordinary power.

I’m really proud of Stacey Abrams and Latosha Brown. A Georgia win wouldn’t have been possible without their hard work and dedication.
Now to see what Joe Biden will do with the next 4 years. Hopefully he remembers who is responsible for the position he finds himself in.
