Why is that so hard to believe? They’re varying degrees of being as insane, narcissistic and power hungry as their father. Absolutely. It’s hard to believe because it’s so unrelatable to me. I’m thinking out loud and am disturbed that everyone could have let him have such a public breakdown. That video was unreal. America shouldn’t feel humiliated, but the Republican party should. They should never have nominated him as their presidential candidate back in 2016. You should read Mary Trumps book. Her insight on their toxic and Machiavellian family dynamic is interesting. You’d never want Don Jr, Eric or Ivanka near public office themselves.

All this time the LEO community has told us how scary it is to deal w/possibly armed suspects. But again, only if they're brown.

What do you think are the chances they invoke the 25th? Would Pence even go along with it? I think that Pence, at this point after today, would go along with it. I told DH that Pence knew he was lying down with dogs and might get fleas when he joined Trump. What he didn't expect was that the fleas also carried the plague. I have no liking for Pence but I do believe he has some level of conscience and integrity. I believe he may have re-found that.

I agree, same with McConnel (and it honestly makes me a little nauseous to say it). I'm not jumping on any band wagon to *support* either of them, but I will acknowledge that they did earn a modicum of respect from me. Not that an increase of 1% is much when we were staring at ZERO, but it's something.

Maybe, kind of like the Grinch, their hearts grew at least one size after seeing a sacred institution attacked. Just maybe they realized that only 99% of their time should be grandstanding and propping themselves up and maybe a whole 1% could be put into actually trying to do the right thing by their constituents. I mean, I listened to Lindsay Graham and didn't throw up!

I can’t believe that there was no plan that was in place to prevent the protesters from gaining access to the Capitol building. This will drag out the certification process, because the Congress have to shelter in place and Pence has been removed. Fucking Trump needs to be thrown in prison for instigating this. He is criminally insane. And a traitor. I cannot believe that this is happening in our country. I can. 4 years ago when he became president, I could have told you this is how it would end. And all of those people who thought we were crazy for saying he's a wannabe dictator and won't leave office peacefully - I won't say I told you so, but there are a lot of people today who are 0% shocked and surprised by this outcome.
Same. I felt sick to the marrow of my bones when I learned he'd won the election and I am 0% surprised at what has happened. My disgust and fury are for the hundreds of enablers who were supposed to provide a system of checks and balances and instead enabled, supported, cheered on and looked the other way as our society and country unraveled. I can't imagine how this particular, evil, insurrection loving genie can ever be put back into the proverbial bottle. I've never wanted to be wrong about something more in my life. And yes, I got a lot of rolled eyes and disbelief when I tried to express the depth of my concerns back in 2016. I have never wanted to be wrong about something more in my life...

Part of me is ashamed of this country. But part of me realizes that asshole Trump and his violent supporters are not representative of all Republicans, let alone all citizens. But this country is now the laughingstock of the rest of the world. 25th Amendment has been called by a Republican! And a good morning to you 950nancy !!

Dan Rather on Jimmy Kimmel last night looked shocked. This man has seen it all and was shocked.
He also said that in order to invoke the 25th, that cabinet members and the VP need to be the ones on board. Has anyone heard from Pence lately?

Schumer has called the 25th as well.

Jennifer I do not think his entire cabinet has the stones to do it. Even if Pence does.

I'm guessing discussions today weren't fruitful so those who would have supported his removal are resigning. I think if there was a real movement to invoke the 25th she wouldn't have resigned.

I'm guessing that gives enough time to see which way the wind is blowing.
