For those of you who aren’t black, you may not know there’s an actual product called Gorilla Snot that we often use to get our hair to lay down. The packaging also has a gorilla on it and yes, I’ve confused them before. I don’t keep my gorilla glue and gorilla snot in the same place so I wouldn’t be in this situation. I’m not saying she thought the two were the same, but I really don’t think it’s fair to say some of what I’ve seen in this thread. Yes, I’m perplexed by the whole thing and yes, I wonder if it’s a scam. But I’m not going to automatically say negative things about her. No doubt she’s in pain of it’s real. Thank you for explaining about the product similarities, I knew about the product to lay the hair down, but did not know the name and have not actually seen a bottle in real life. I googled the photos and did see how in a hurry you could grab the wrong one. If that is what happened though (and I don’t think it was, I do think she thought it would act similarly) that is not Gorilla Glue’s fault and there is no reason to be suing. Back when I had hard contacts the cleaner I used looked similar to my mom’s fabric glue. If I had used that on my contacts instead of the cleaner that would be my fault, not the glue company’s, even though the products looked similar. If I used diesel gasoline in my car because I thought it would act the same as unleaded and ruined my car would that be the gas station’s fault? I have no doubt she is in pain. I can’t even imagine, but that is not Gorilla Glue’s fault.

My gorilla snot is with my garnier fructis. Soooo... But it looks like she thought glue is glue and learned a hard lesson hair glue isn’t the same as gorilla glue..

Not only all this, but it’s highly unlikely that those two products would be anywhere near each other in the store. She had to have looked in a hardware section to find the Gorilla Glue and figured, “Close enough.” Whoops. That’s totally on her, especially if she read the instructions where it said not to use it on your skin or near your eyes.

I saw this when she posted on TikTok and I said to myself "bet you anything she'll sue". She's having a hell of a time trying to get it out.

I really don’t understand why she started a gofundme? And I’m even more perplexed people are donating?! It's for her medical bills, including the ER visit. She has a real problem, because it is actually glued to her scalp. I'm sure a lawsuit won't go anywhere, but I bet Gorilla Glue updates their warnings.

I hope her stupidity isn't going to be rewarded with any type of settlement. Incidents like this are going to become more common as time goes by. We need to stop molly coddling these people. We've become a society where you can't call someone out (nicely) on their stupid decisions.
Don't hurt their feelings! Let them think/do whatever they want for fear of violence.
Then add in that we are a sue happy country.

I looked up the Gorilla Snot and it isn't a spray, it's a gel (at least what I found). But the logo is actually quite similar. I am curious if she accidentally bought the wrong product? Like, she had heard that there was a "gorilla" product and found the spray and ordered on Amazon or something? Because if you went to a store you would surely recognize that you were not in the hair section buying that. Or, if she just had it on hand and decided to try it? I am seriously perplexed and would love more background info. I still think it was her mistake and not the company's responsibility. But perhaps the Gorilla snot product should change their packaging.

gorilla snot? I think they should have named it something else. It’s a selling point. Marketed mainly to young boys, who think the name is hilarious and the packaging and logo are cool. You are literally the exact opposite of their target consumer.

You definitely wouldn’t find any kind of Gorilla GLUE products in or even near the hair care section of any store. This whole story reminds me of the warning labels in Superman costumes that state: “This costume does not enable flight or super strength.”

I’m really not sure what would cause someone to think it was ok to use on the hair.

She ran out of her usual hair spray (Got 2 B Glue Spray which is an actual hair spray) so she used the Gorilla Glue Spray that she already had on hand.

mom that was my original take (and what I still conclude) but I was trying to look at the "white people don't know that there is a product called Gorilla Snot so don't say she was stupid angle". I think that was quite a reach.

So, I am not sure where the idea that she swapped GG for Gorilla Snot came from. I also haven't seen anyone say anything besides that she was stupid for doing this, so not sure what else you would be referring to as unfair statements about her or the situation. As I said before, I do feel badly for her and hope that she is able to get this resolved without real lasting damage or health problems. I also hope that we get an update if she does get it resolved. But, I stand by the comment that it was a really stupid thing to do.

I pointed out there IS a product similar in name and packaging that may have lead her to believe gorilla glue was safe. Since she never said why she used gorilla glue in the first place, I’m not sure why it’s okay to assume she’s dumb but not give any other possible explanations? Since you haven’t used gorilla snot and many of us in the black community have, I don’t know how you can say she must be dumb anymore than you telling me it has nothing to do with gorilla snot. All she said is she ran out of another product. People are choosing to run with her being dumb. I’m choosing to understand other possibilities. What a concept. But I remember how you are with race and I’m not going down that road with you. Enjoy.

This whole story reminds me of the warning labels in Superman costumes that state: “This costume does not enable flight or super strength.” Years ago, a friend of mine was having a baby. Someone gave her a largish diaper bag, and there was a tag inside that said "do not place baby inside of bag." We laughed at the time that some dummy had probably done just that. People can be so dumb.

TMZ is reporting that a plastic surgeon in Hollywood has offered to remove it for her. He says he can absolutely get it off but it will take 2-3 days. He's offered his services for free. She is supposed to fly out tomorrow.

Was she in a kindergarten classroom doing arts and crafts? What on earth? I read about her and wondered what lengths people will go to in order to get "free" money from frivolous lawsuits? I do not want to believe that anyone who's not 5 would be stupid enough to use gorilla glue in their hair.
