I agree that it was a really poor decision to use GG as hair spray. Surely if the product was already in her home, she would know how strong it is and what it is for. That said, I feel really bad for her and I hope sheās able to get it removed. Iām just glad she didnāt get any in her eyes. I just read that a plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills has offered to help for free using medical grade adhesive remover. I hope it works. If not, I think she might just have to wait until her hair grows enough to get a razor under it and just shave it off.

dani -mani the only people making this about race are those saying that commenting on her decision to put glue in her hair is racist because people don't understand products for black hair or the importance of having her hair look good. That wasn't necessarily you, but some other comments that I have read about the situation. But thanks for being rude.

That wasn't necessarily you, but some other comments that I have read about the situation. But thanks for being rude. But you didnāt quote those comments. You quoted me. And I never said anything about racism, I explained the possibility of her confusing products. Gorilla snot is a product that is used in the black community that even I confused the first time I saw it. I never said people were racist, I gave a possible explanation for her strange choice and said that we shouldnāt automatically jump on the āstupidā bandwagon without more information. I even went on to say despite knowing about the two products, Iām still perplexed by her decision because nobody I know even keeps them together. Others concurred they arenāt even in the same aisle at any store that sells both. So you were actually rude to me and perhaps you should be the bigger person and apologize since you clearly quoted me but meant to imply other comments were racist.

As I said before, I do feel badly for her and hope that she is able to get this resolved without real lasting damage or health problems.Ā I also hope that we get an update if she does get it resolved. TMZ is reporting that a plastic surgeon in Hollywood has offered to remove it for her. He says he can absolutely get it off but it will take 2-3 days. He's offered his services for free. She is supposed to fly out tomorrow. I hope they put her under anesthesia. I canāt imagine how painful itās going to be.

I did read a comment somewhere that water-based glue *could* be used for holding hairstyles in place? And so perhaps if you were out of your preferred product and there was something else, and itās called āgorillaā and you know there is a hair product called āgorillaā.....I can sort of see how your brain might make some weird connections.
I once worked with a woman who put superglue in her eye instead of eye drops, and I have NO IDEA how. Possibly that thing of trying so hard NOT to do something that itās the first thing you do? āDon't mention the war!ā
If she did it on purpose I think sheās learned the hard way. It sounds so painful.

I saw the original video and she never mentioned Gorilla Snot. Her connection to the products was Glue. Got 2b Glue spray ran out so she thought Gorilla Glue spray would work just as well.
IMHO, I thought that she thought that G2b spray was glue hair spray so Gorilla glue spray must be the same.
I just do not see how she can sue Gorilla glue. Maybe G2b because of the use of the word glue, but Gorilla, well the product did what it said it would do.

dani -mani your post came across as "White people don't understand that there is this hair product....and it is unfair to say that this was a stupid thing to do because the products could be confused." That post led me to look up said product (which, according to amazon is a gel that many men use, not a spray). And her own video said that the product she used previously was by Got2Be. I think the connection to the name of that product including the word "glue" was probably more of a connection to the GG than the Gorilla Snot. But who knows. I also said in other posts that I was interested to have more context about how she came to the decision to use the gorilla glue spray. But either way, I am not sure how anyone can say that it wasn't a stupid decision to do so. Does that mean she is a stupid person in general? Not necessarily. You have treated me poorly on previous threads regarding race, so I am not going to try to explain anymore at this time.

I really donāt understand why she started a gofundme? And Iām even more perplexed people are donating?! The GoFundMe doesn't bother me. I think she will need help with medical bills and aftercare. If she loses her hair over this, she may want to purchase wigs or maybe there are treatments that will help her hair regrow. People donate by choice. It's the threat of a lawsuit that i find ridiculous.

I would imagine the people contributing to the go fund me site are feeling compassion for someone who made a mistake, as everyone has done at one time or another.
As far as mounting a legal battle, if she decides to spend money on that, it's her legal right to take a chance on losing it. I'm often surprised at the outcome of these suits, and I'm sure we don't know all the details of this situation. I'll bet McDonalds regretted refusing to pay $20,000 to the woman with the hot coffee after she received a $3 million judgment.

Y'all... she's managed to get the ponytail cut off and you can see more of what it looks like. I can't believe she did that to herself TMZ has pictures and a couple of videos.

I am trying to figure out the connect from "This is why we can't have nice things" with why you can't have something nice? Sorry, don't get it.
It is an attempt at humor---as in: We tried to purchase __ to make our home/appearance nice and someone was so foolish they did not know how to use it properly and ruined it. ===So, we may as well just purchase cheap things if they will be used incorrectly.

Natural consequences right there. Now if she just understood the concept of personal responsibility instead of trying to get everyone else to pay for how dumb she is š¤·š»āāļø

I still think a straight razor is the way to go. I absolutely would think anything strong enough to make a dent in the gorilla glue would burn like hell. I hope the plastic surgeon can help, but otherwise, I'd get the straight razor and then once 90% of it is off, maybe the rest of the adhesion on the scalp could be dealt with.

I think I saw that she normally used Got2b Glued Blasting Freeze Spray but ran out so thought since they both said glue on the can and the warning didn't say NOT to use it in your hair that she gave it a go. I hope her case gets thrown out of court. Apparently her thinking was that since it said not to put it in your eyes, skin or clothing, it would be ok. š Now she feels misled. Does she not know that her hair grows through her skin???

I feel so bad for this lady. She looked so miserable in this video. Poor thing. At this point, she is probably dying to get that off her head no matter what. I just hope her scalp won't be permanently damaged and that her hair will regrow.

I canāt help but feel some real pain for this woman. Most of us ladies would be very upset without our hair.
What she decided to do was really dumb (and catastrophic apparently!) and many of us have done some dumb things with our hair though most of us are fortunate that dumb decisions havenāt been so catastrophic.
Itās been clear from what she has shared that this wasnāt about mistaking this particular product for an ethnic or black hair care product.
She should not get a settlement from the company of the product she used incorrectly but Iām glad to hear a doctor is stepping in to help her. Thatās what being part of a community is all about.

Yikes! When I was young and in a rush to get ready for my grandpa's visitation, I grabbed the hairspray and sprayed the very generous early 90's era quantity before noticing it started to foam up. Luckily applying "scrubbing bubbles" to my head only led to an amusing story of my mom sending various mourners up to me to say "Does anyone smell tile cleaner"? rather than causing any damage to my hair or head.
I hope she can receive a healthy resolution!

For those of you who arenāt black, you may not know thereās an actual product called Gorilla Snot that we often use to get our hair to lay down. The packaging also has a gorilla on it and yes, Iāve confused them before. I donāt keep my gorilla glue and gorilla snot in the same place so I wouldnāt be in this situation. Iām not saying she thought the two were the same, but I really donāt think itās fair to say some of what Iāve seen in this thread. Yes, Iām perplexed by the whole thing and yes, I wonder if itās a scam. But Iām not going to automatically say negative things about her. No doubt sheās in pain of itās real. I was reading about this on twitter and one author made an argument that this is just another form of racism. That the expectation on Black womenās beauty are so high that theyāll do anything to conform, including glue their own hair. Someone did mention the product you mention. Itās my understanding though that this woman didnāt think she was grabbing the other product, she just didnāt think it would be a problem to use it as she did. I admit, this POV surprised me. All of itās a major reach if you ask me. Black women have beauty standards that arenāt realistic, now that is absolutely true but the Gorilla Snot isnāt something even half of Black women use itās a Latin product that maybe has been trending in Black hair for like 12-18 months max. There are a million and one Black owned edge controls too. We make hair trends and none of them would be considered conforming. This is just one womanās poor decision making.

I hope that the majority of the glue is on her actual hair and not her scalp, and that there is minimal pain and damage during the process of removing it.

I feel for her - I'm sure she didn't think that the glue would be so very permanent (which is the whole reason I use Gorilla Glue . I feel kind of bad for calling her stupid before - I suppose it's not all that different from that morning back in the 80's when I grabbed a can of spray-in hair glitter instead of my regular hairspray and had to go to work sparkly, but at least that only lasted for a day. But I still don't get how you go from "I did a really dumb thing" to "it's not my fault and I'm going to sue" . I don't understand blasting it all over social media so that everyone could see the dumb thing she did. And from the look of those photos and videos, she didn't just use a little bit; she completely lacquered it down. Which is probably the style she was going for and the Got2Be product probably worked well for it. But the Gorilla Glue - I can't imagine any way to get that off. It looks like when you try to remove a dip powder manicure - the acetone will soften it up so you can wipe it away, but if you don't wipe fast enough, the glue just dries and sticks again.

To me, the issue is personal responsibility.
Yes, we all do dumb things, so itās possible to have sympathy for the fact that she did a dumb thing.
BUT, she did a dumb thing AND expects everyone else to pay for the fact that she did a dumb thing. That shows her true character and wipes away any shred of sympathy I could have had for her.

I am glad a doctor is offering to help her, I have no issue with that, but I still don't like the Go Fund Me and threats to sue. I think that is wrong. Just because she can doesn't mean she should.
People can be empathetic about the pain she is in and still think she is stupid for spraying gorilla glue on her head.
Several of you mention things you did that were similar but the difference is that yours were accidents or cases of mistaken identity. She purposely put glue on her head. It wasn't like she had it in her bathroom and grabbed it instead of her regular spray. Big difference and that is what makes her decision stupid.

A very handsome doctor created a solution that removed all the glue for Ms. Jones. My guess is she is going to make twice as much money being a hair influencer than her GoFundMe yielded.
I canāt think of her last name but Da Brat is dating a Louisiana native named Judy who has made millions from these āmiracle hair dropsā. I bet she has already been in touchš
