Also, we were supposed to be on a plane to Paris May 28. Clearly that’s not happening, so I’m planning as many trips stateside as I can as a tiny consolation prize.

We won’t be taking any major vacations for at least the next several years. All of our vacation money was spent on our lake cabin rebuild in 2018-2019 so all of our vacation time will be spent there. Even without Covid, that’s what was going to happen for us anyway. FWIW, we’re still not done spending money on that project.
We can’t wait until we can host our friends at our cabin now that we have a proper guest room there, but that won’t happen until more people can get vaccinated.

My son graduates high school this year and we have booked a WDW vacation as well as a cruise. Cruise most likely will not happen and if not, we will extend our FL trip and add on Universal.

Yes. We went to the beach in July. We’ll try a beach trip again this summer. We have a trip to Disney for my DD cheer. Anything can happen and it could get postponed or canceled. If it happens, not sure we’ll actually do the parks only because if having to book the day you want to go. Only one day we can actually control and even that day is only a partial day. So we’ll see.

Yes. Viruses will alwAys exist. We will mask but no longer put our lives on hold. Lost 3 people this year. Life’s short. I’m going to live.

Yes a road trip to Colorado with my family. We already have the cabin rented but can cancel until the end of May. Our deal breaker is that all adults must be vaccinated first. So far 4 out of the 8 are.

Yes. We are going to Mexico. 1 daughter has had Covid, 1 just had a negative antibody test, and I am vaccinated. It is a 4 hour non-stop flight. Our resort is following social distancing protocols, has limited availability, and provides Covid testing on site prior to travel back to the US (now required to enter the US) with a free 14 day quarantine if you test positive.

Kind of? I’m going to see my mom and daughter in Seattle in May, but we didn’t go for Christmas this year and I’m moving to Cambodia so I just have to see them. Obviously no choice but to fly! My mom has had the first vaccine and will be vaccinated by then so I feel it’s safe now.
While in the US I’ll go to Mexico and the Bahamas, but with my friend who has a private plane so that’s pretty safe.

We plan to go to France when the borders open up. By then we will be vaccinated. We will likely drive because we want to take Emma (our lab). We plan to stay in an AirBnB in Provance. If it seems safe, we plan to go to Scotland in September. I’m not sure and we’ll see what happens with the UK. Travel between France and the UK is essential travel only right now. If that doesn’t work out, we’ll likely go to the eastern side of Germany. Of course, this all depends on how the numbers are doing and if it seems safe for the vaccinated to travel. In addition to the essential travel only, as of tomorrow you also need a negative PCR test taken within the last 72 hours, quarantine for 10 days at your home or a dedicated government approved hotel and take further test on day 2 and day 8 after your arrival. All this at your own expense. I guess we won’t be having too many travellers for a while. Obviously this might change by September depending on circumstances by then

Oh YES! Am going to see my babies in Europe. Headed out in September. I did get refundable everything just in case, but I am hoping things will be closer to "normal" by then.
FWIW, I do have tickets to Switzerland and Croatia in June that I got one year ago when I couldn't go in 2020. I doubt I will go then, but am not quite ready to cancel.

We were supposed to be in Grand Cayman right now...that's pushed out at least 12 months.
We'll see what it all looks like as we go through the year before we decide 100% though.

Absolutely not. It that’s more because we will have an infant, not because of covid. We maybe MAYBE will do a road trip up to Big Bear, CA where my aunt and uncle have a cabin, but that won’t be until fall at the earliest. And we will be bringing all of our groceries with us and will stay at the cabin.

We have a tentative road trip/kaya-tri/kid free weekend planned. Our fav kaya-tri got cancelled and rolled over to this year. It is in the UP of MI. We did it 2 years ago, and it was so much fun. We were very bummed when it was cancelled this past year, but completely understandable. Hoping things will be better this year, so we can get away and participate, and feel safe doing so.

No. It would be hypocritical for me to complain about being at risk at my job while putting others at risk to take a vacation. 🤷🏼♀️ Although I think taking a road trip and staying in a cabin or beach house would be fine, I have been kicked out of the family covid pod, so no one to go with...

We probably could've gone and been ok and I kinda want to reschedule.

We are going to NY (Syracuse) this summer for me to undergo IVF. Hardly a vacation and the only place we’ll be is our car, the hotel, and the clinic.
Would love to sight see but if rates are in July what they are now, it’s irresponsible to do so.

We currently have a beach house rented with extended family.
We are hoping all the adults will be vaccinated by then but my sisters have young children. If we don't yet have good data on transmission by vaccinated adults they want everyone to isolate for 10 days first. I COMPLETELY understand but my kids are college age and will be working so we won't be able to do that, and therefore won't go.
I honestly don't think we'll all be vaccinated by July so it'll be a moot point anyway. Unfortunately I think we have to make a decision by mid-May in order to cancel the house and get the deposit back.
If we do get to go - we plan to be very cautious and will spend all our time at the house/beach/pool - not going out to eat, etc.
I could REALLY use some beach time this summer.

We will camp, alone, just the two of us in our camper. We haven't decided where yet. I'm trying to talk Jeremy into northern Wisconsin. Maybe going north through the upper peninsula and then over to Wisconsin. We camped in Pennsylvania in October and really had a good time.
I wouldn't fly right now if you paid me. My mom and her boyfriend were both vaccinated and they have a condo rented in Gulf Shores from mid-March to the end of April. They will be driving. And not eating out or anything. They have invited us down for a week. We are debating whether to go. Jeremy hasn't yet been able to pick his vacation weeks so everything is still up in the air. But it's like an 11 hour drive. So I'm not sure if that would involve a hotel and such. I'm just not sure it's the wisest thing to do.

We are going for two reasons 1) to eat at Hell’s Kitchen (the current season of the show is in Vegas and you can actually eat there) 2) to go to the opening of the new Meow Wolf Those are the reasons we planned the trip, but we are also visiting The Mob Museum, The Neon Museum, MARVEL S.T.A.T.I.O.N., the Hoover Dam, and the Grand Canyon (and doing the Skywalk there). All of the pools are heated and a lot of the hotels have indoor pools, too. Another motivating factor for us is the 59 before 18 challenge and we need Nevada and Arizona. But we also don’t consider this like a Big Family Vacation. It’s just something fun to do with friends while we’re bored AF. ahhh. got it. Actually the indoor pools thing is not correct. Some may claim they have indoor pools, but it may be just a hot tub, or spa extension inside the hotel. We found that just going down to the pool was a PITA. so we never went. It was too far, and trekking thru casinos, etc just to get there, in your swimsuit, or towel. We ate at Hells kitchen when we were there. It was very good. you will love it! We don't party or gamble, so when we went to Vegas everyone was like. WHY are you guys going there? we went to see shows and eat at great restaurants. which we did! have fun. We did Vegas in 2016 sans kids. The pools were closed at the mgm grand the year we went so that sucked. We had a chance to go again in 2018 and I wasn’t interested. I was getting over the death of my brother but also, Vegas isn’t all that fun to me. We saw a cirque show which I loved and took a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon which was super expensive. For the price of that helicopter ride, we planned a week at Disney with the kids instead amd had a blast. Our company does a trip every year and Vegas is in the rotation along with Orlando as frequent places they go. Man I get congested thinking about the casinos and all the cigarette smoke. Blech.

We will both be fully vaccinated (2nd dose) in March. We are planning to do driving trips to visit friends, and we expect some of our friends will do the same and visit us.

Yes, we will take a trip to AZ next month, a trip to OR/Wa in August, and a cross country trip this Fall. I would not do any of these trips if we didn’t have an RV. We do grocery pick up wherever we go, sometimes restaurant take out, and just enjoy the outdoors wherever we go.

Yes. Right now the only thing we have officially planned is a cabin rented in Tahoe this summer. If covid numbers are ok and there are no travel restrictions in place my dream list is the following: - 5 night backpacking trip in high Sierra/Yosemite - Girls’ weekend at my sister’s ocean front vacation home in Orange County - road trip to Portland - fall road trip to Santa Fe and area
My middle son who graduated high school last year gets a “big trip” which was obviously delayed. He wants to go to Southeast Asia so there is a chance maybe we’d go this winter—- or later. My youngest also gets a trip to NYC in part to look at colleges - maybe this winter (love NYC at Christmas) or maybe 2022.

We are not actively planning any vacation at the moment but we're getting closer to doing so. My son's BFA program normally has the kids study in London fall semester junior year; they opened registration on Friday and seem to have every intention of moving forward. If he goes, we will travel to London in December to watch his culminating performance at The Globe and hopefully experience London around Christmas time. Other than that, assuming we're all vaccinated by the summer, we will plan an extended road trip to look at colleges my daughter is interested in. We had this trip planned throughout California last summer but I'm not sure if we'll still go to California or if there is another area of the country she would prefer to visit. The other trip I hope to plan is a beach vacation with my parents. We normally do this every other year and this year would be the year; my husband is reluctant to add a third big budget trip. My attitude is that if the last year has shown us anything, it is to not put off time & experiences with the people you love. My parents will be fully vaccinated next week so that's half the battle.
ETA: The London trip assumes that we will be vaccinated and won't need to quarantine for 10 days. His program has the 10 day quarantine period built into their orientation. But I think his university anticipates being able to vaccinate all students by the end of spring semester.

It is planned, but not 100% sure it will happen.
I was invited to a zoom chat back in April with some cake people I had never met, but that one of my good pals knew (she invited me). They were all cakers that do the shows in the US and my friend usually teaches or judges at them. I went, and it became a bi-weekly chat ever since.
One of them owns points for Disney Vacation Club, and the 6 of us that are Disney lovers quietly planned a possible trip using her points in early October. First hurdle is over - Biden was elected. Next hurdle - travel restrictions from Canada being lifted. Next hurdle - getting vaccinated.
If the final two hurdles are passed, I really do want to go. But it is a huge if.

Blech. myshelly, you will love the Hoover Dam, it was my favorite thing about my Vegas trip! We walked up and down the strip (I had no idea it was so big, we were dumb) but the shows were SO freaking expensive, so we took the damn dam LOL tour and I just loved it. I was thinking about the skywalk but 1. it wasn't all that close to Vegas, and 2. I didnt realize you couldn't bring camera on it (this may have changed, but I am not sure) and 3. at the time I was considering it, my kids were little and my son liked to run away from me. This was probably 15 yrs ago, and I thought someone told me there was no fence/guardrail, so I just had this image of my kid Wil E Coyote over the cliff running away from me. We went much later, maybe 5 yrs ago, and it took my breath away - I cannot imagine going on the skywalk! I would love to hear your review!
