Yes. We'll rent a beach house like we always do. We did last summer with no problems. We drive straight there, the only ones who stay there are the three of us, and my ds and his family because they can be trusted with their precautions at home. Back in June we brought all of the food with us except for a few things like milk and ice cream, and I went shopping for those the next morning at 6:00 a.m. so I had the store to myself. We didn't go anywhere except the beach and the house, and we went on some walks and hikes. We'll do all that again. This is our plan too - my DD graduates from HS and is renting a beach house in Duck, NC, so we are in Corolla - to give her some privacy but also be around if they need us, PLUS I have always wanted to go to the OBX!

We will be taking an extended trip as soon as we can to visit family in Canada.
Haven't decided whether to fly or drive and might do both.

Last year I did not leave the state. This year, I expect that we will make a trip to a SC beach. I love to go in May but we will decide when we get closer. DH is scheduled for his first vaccine dose this week. I will be in the last group so we may wait until fall to travel. We always rent a condo and mostly keep to ourselves. The biggest risk is eating out and we do enjoy that on vacation. It is too early to tell for sure but right now, I say yes, we will travel by car out of state at least once.

We will both be fully vaccinated (2nd dose) in March. We are planning to do driving trips to visit friends, and we expect some of our friends will do the same and visit us. dh and I will as well. The kids obviously won't

No. It would be hypocritical for me to complain about being at risk at my job while putting others at risk to take a vacation. 🤷🏼♀️ Although I think taking a road trip and staying in a cabin or beach house would be fine, I have been kicked out of the family covid pod, so no one to go with... I've been pretty careful to walk the walk at work, but we have been f2f since August and we started getting vaccinated last week

We haven't been anywhere since a year ago this week. There is a part of me that doesn't want to do anything, the other part of me is desperate to go somewhere.
That said the family we are podding with has a house in Hawaii. SO the biggest risk to all of us is the flight out there. Because once we are there we will be staying at the house(s) - there are 3 on the property, they stay in one, we stay in one, and her parents in the 3rd. They are the only people we see right now. WE really, really want to go but are worried about the flights with our kids. If we go we are planning to go for 2-3 months.
Other than that we rescheduled out normal Cabo Christmas trip for October, but I don't know if that will happen. It would be my inlaws, both of my sil's and their families, and us - my inlaws are vaccinated and one of the sil couples is vaccinated, but the other 4 adults and the 10 kids aren't yet.

We are flying to Cancun mid March. Everyone in my family (except for me) has had COVID-19 (as of this week), and I have been quarantined for 2.5 weeks with 5 days to go because it has rolled through our family so slowly. After this experience, I said “that’s it, I am DONE,” and we booked this this trip. We will continue to social distance before and after the trip, but, we have been home bound since last June, and have reached our limit.

We did Vegas in 2016 sans kids. The pools were closed at the mgm grand the year we went so that sucked. We had a chance to go again in 2018 and I wasn’t interested. I was getting over the death of my brother but also, Vegas isn’t all that fun to me. We saw a cirque show which I loved and took a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon which was super expensive. For the price of that helicopter ride, we planned a week at Disney with the kids instead amd had a blast. Our company does a trip every year and Vegas is in the rotation along with Orlando as frequent places they go. Man I get congested thinking about the casinos and all the cigarette smoke. Blech. myshelly, you will love the Hoover Dam, it was my favorite thing about my Vegas trip! We walked up and down the strip (I had no idea it was so big, we were dumb) but the shows were SO freaking expensive, so we took the damn dam LOL tour and I just loved it. I was thinking about the skywalk but 1. it wasn't all that close to Vegas, and 2. I didnt realize you couldn't bring camera on it (this may have changed, but I am not sure) and 3. at the time I was considering it, my kids were little and my son liked to run away from me. This was probably 15 yrs ago, and I thought someone told me there was no fence/guardrail, so I just had this image of my kid Wil E Coyote over the cliff running away from me. We went much later, maybe 5 yrs ago, and it took my breath away - I cannot imagine going on the skywalk! I would love to hear your review! We did the skywalk amd they have a photographer who takes your pictures amd you can purchase them so we did that. My husband was laughing at me tiptoeing around it luke that was going to save me if it cracked! It was terrifying!! But yeah, if we ever take the kids out to Grand Canyon it’ll be in a camper so we can spend plenty of time there. Taking the trip from Vegas is not cheap and a lot longer than most people realize. The land driven vehicle tour is a 9 hour thing. We did the helicopter and it was an hour each way and an hour at the canyon.

Kids and I are flying to Vegas next week. Curious to what you guys are going to do in Vegas? My brother and family are going next wk also. I'm like..okkk? what are you going to do? I know things are open, but not many family themed shows I dont think, and it doesn't look warm enough to say, swim or anything? From people that have gone recently I’m hearing it’s not really worth it. We went in May one year snd the pools were still closed for the season and didn’t open until June. It was really annoying as it’s not like it was cool at all. Not sure when you are going but I would ask about the pools if that’s something you are looking forward to. I saw your list snd it looks like you have lots of things to do so you will probably still have fun. Not sure what people that I’ve seen posting that it wasn’t really the same were missing.

Probably the shows. They aren’t open right now. We have called our hotel and the pools are open, but that’s not really something we place a priority on. We’re more worried about having enough time than enough to do. But I mean, we are traveling there specifically for the opening of an art exhibit, so we probably aren’t the typical Vegas tourists. My DH and I have been before and have done the Grand Canyon from Vegas, so I’m familiar with everything.

Yes. We are going to Mexico. 1 daughter has had Covid, 1 just had a negative antibody test, and I am vaccinated. It is a 4 hour non-stop flight. Our resort is following social distancing protocols, has limited availability, and provides Covid testing on site prior to travel back to the US (now refugees) with a free 14 day quarantine if you test positive. Id love for you to report back on how everything goes with Mexico and Covid. We had a trip to Cabo we canceled because I just wasn't sure about the testing available. We probably could've gone and been ok and I kinda want to reschedule. Will do! We are going first week of June.

We are doing what we did last summer. We got a seasonal site at a lake seasonal campground and parked our RV there and spent every weekend and a couple of weeks out there. I'm excited to do the same thing again. We stayed away from the beach because there were too many people, and we've been isolating the past 11 months, but it was wonderful anyway.

Thinking of going to Oregon this summer. Staying with an aunt and uncle. It’s really really up in the air. It would require a couple of hotel nights. It will depend on money, Covid status, what aunt and uncle think.
If that doesn’t work out, maybe an in state vacation.. check out the other side of Colorado... maybe Telluride.
We do have plans going to KC for a family wedding. I’m not really jazzed about going but it’s my best friend’s son (she is also my cousin-in-law, we joke). But we are all close and I don’t want to miss it but I’m really in the mood to do something non-family. (Meaning going to KC is what we always do)

I have some vague thoughts about places I'd like to go, but nothing really planned, and definitely not booked until we see how case numbers go, how vaccination is going, and what we are allowed to do. Right now, we can't even travel for tourism reasons within Germany, let alone to other places.
If we can only travel domestically, we are thinking of going to the Rhine vineyard region, near Mainz and Wiesbaden in the summer. We had planned a couple of days there a few years ago, when I had to go to Frankfurt to renew my passport, but DH was ill, so we came straight home.
If we can travel further afield, I am thinking of Milan and Lake Garda in northern Italy. We could drive there, and I'd probably look for a short term rental rather than a hotel at Garda. If flying looks possible, I'd love to go back to Greece, and have decided that Chania, on Crete is my first choice.
My most wished for vacation is to go back to Australia to visit family, but that is still looking like being ages away. I'd hoped it might be possible at the end of this year, but we won't be able to go until arrival caps and mandatory quarantine are lifted, and that doesn't seem likely for a while yet.

We are going to hawaii over spring break. You have to take covid tests before you go and when you arrive. We are staying in a condo. We are also going to Alaska for our 20 year anniversary in august. Staying where there are only 6 other guests and they fly you to Katmai and around Alaska each day with 2 other guests. Our trip to Africa that we were supposed to do last summer is rescheduled to august but we’ll see.

i am dreaming about travelling. but no concrete plans.
some friends moved to a condo/chalet they bought in a super-charming village about an hour and a half from banff. we have an open invite to go visit - so was thinking maybe late summer or in the winter. lots of hiking/skiing, etc to do with a road trip to banff. they have hot springs local to them nearby and i think the kids and i would have a great time.
but who knows. no sense going if it's not safe and things to do and see aren't wide open. no direct flight so getting there would be an adventure on it's own!
and that costa rica thread had me thinking.....
so i didn't chose any options in the poll - lol!

I have some family that lives in Eau Claire I wouldn't mind seeing. But Jeremy's like that's too far. How is the turning of leaves around last week in September? What would you recommend since you live up there? It we just stayed not too far from the border?

We plan to go to France when the borders open up. By then we will be vaccinated. We will likely drive because we want to take Emma (our lab). We plan to stay in an AirBnB in Provance. If it seems safe, we plan to go to Scotland in September. I’m not sure and we’ll see what happens with the UK. Travel between France and the UK is essential travel only right now. If that doesn’t work out, we’ll likely go to the eastern side of Germany. Of course, this all depends on how the numbers are doing and if it seems safe for the vaccinated to travel. In addition to the essential travel only, as of tomorrow you also need a negative PCR test taken within the last 72 hours, quarantine for 10 days at your home or a dedicated government approved hotel and take further test on day 2 and day 8 after your arrival. All this at your own expense. I guess we won’t be having too many travellers for a while. Obviously this might change by September depending on circumstances by then Yes, we have similar measures here. Honestly, it changes bi-weekly and I haven’t kept track exactly, as I’m not even going to the grocery store right now. We wouldn’t go if there’s a quarantine 1. Because it’s still not a safe time to travel and 2. We won’t waste DH’s leave on quarantining twice. We haven’t come this far to mess it all up with a vacation!

Maybe. I don't know. We want to sell the house and move closer to DH's office now that we'll be done with having kids in school. Going on a trip might not be in the cards this year. We might do a weekend get away when things open up more. 25% capacity at places causes long waits at popular places that won't do reservations.

I’m tentatively ‘planning’ to go to my niece’s less than 35 people outdoor back yard wedding in June.
I’m hoping to be vaccinated by then 🤞🏻
I “want” to go to my great nephews birthday next month but I doubt I will be able to.

The color peak changes from year to year, but in my memory, it usually happens in mid September, and a little earlier farther north in the UP by me (Bessemer, Ironwood) If you end up doing the UP, check out Sylvania Wilderness area (called "Little Boundary Waters") and the ride along the top of Lake Michigan to Lake Huron is also stunning (to me). Marquette, on Lake Superior is a nice college town and very pretty. also pierkiss —your kid free vacay sounds fun!
