What the Republican Party has become

"We’ve watched absolute depravity wash across our politics over the last few decades, promoted by the same politicians who wave a religious banner to get votes. It ranges from a stolen election in 2000, to being lied into two wars, and having four years of a presidency with nothing to show for it except a tax cut for billionaires, the destruction of international relationships, and 500,000 dead Americans.

We had a president who raped women; made fun of mentally disabled people; tried to take away Obamacare, Social Security, Medicare, food stamps and unemployment from American citizens; and intentionally tore America apart racially and religiously just for money and power.

He ripped children from their mother’s arms on the border, and then tortured those kids for years, killing at least seven of them. He called Nazi white supremacists “very fine people,” tried to eliminate healthcare for poor Amerians, and vilivied refugees — all in the name of Christianity.

Prominent among the mob that attacked the US Capitol on January 6 were “Jesus 2020“ flags and Christian iconography. One group carried a large wooden cross, and hundreds of people knelt to pray before attacking the capitol on that terrible day."

This speaks volumes to me about what the current Republicans stand for.  No civility, no bipartisanship, no being polite and working together to make this country better for all.  Compromise is not part of their platform nor is it part of their vocabulary. They have no platform other than stonewalling anything that doesn't benefit big business or their own personal pocketbooks.

I also realize that there are Democrats who behave the same way, but it is far more prevalent in the GOP and they are far more vocal about it.  

And not by the democrats!

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on Monday requested additional information regarding potential conflicts of interests related to John Kerry, President Biden's special envoy for climate, and his previous involvement in finance and energy investing after he left his last government post as secretary of State.

In a letter to current Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Grassley wrote that it is “unclear exactly what matters Mr. Kerry has been barred from working on and whether he has received any waivers for specific matters that he would otherwise be recused from,” according to Axios, which obtained a copy of the letter.

“The operation of good government requires faithful adherence to ethical rules,” Grassley added.

But of course Blinken, Biden should have vetted Kerry 100%. Kerry seems to have given lists of his 'connections' as listed in the article, but I just wanted to point out how Grassley is asking for faithful adherence to ethical rules. Who did he ask about the last 4 years.. Didn't care much then!!
