Welcome to March Divas! We are: gramma, joblackford, angel97701, schroema, jjpeapea, boymom5, Linda, ComplicatedLady, gmcwife1, alsomsknitHi alsomsknit and welcome to the challenge teams! Hope you find the atmosphere encouraging. In this thread, we just keep tabs on each other, share some tidbits, goals, inspiration, or ask questions. I had a great February and completed 15 layouts. I'm not sure why - isn't it funny that we can't control our mojo? Sometimes it flows, sometimes it doesn't. New shelving and a space cleaning/reorganization did wonders. And the weekend online crops are a HUGE help - they keep me seated rather than flitting away from my desk when I hit a "bump" in my creativity. I would really encourage any of you to drop in and try it out if you have time. I'm setting myself a goal of another 15 layouts this month. And keeping my basement clean This should be possible - March remains dreary and indoorsy here and we remain in the "red zone" of covid control (below lockdown, but there isn't much fun to be had, and it's even hard to book into the gym). Sounds like a crafty month to me. First task this month is to add some CHALLENGES to help us along! Consider your strengths and make them challenges! OR consider what you want to do more of and give yourself points for accomplishing it! Second task is to chime in on this thread and say "hi"!

Hi - I've taken the past few months off due to moving. We're still not 100% moved but my crafty space is set up (mostly - I need some more cubes for album storage, I need to finish making my cutting table/storage, and my comfy chair isn't in here yet). I'm also still figuring out lighting - there's no overhead light fixture so I have a traditional desk lamp on the scrap table and an LED desk lamp on the sewing table and a ready-to-assemble but not assembled floor lamp for next to the comfy chair.
My goal for the month is to sew two dresses for DD14 (one to check the fit and then her Confirmation dress) and do some scrapbooking of some sort.

Hello everyone! I will echo kitbop words, come check out the online weekend crops. I really enjoy the adult interaction as that is lacking in my current situation. I've done my challenge contributions. Do go check out the Organization challenge. So when you are not feeling the mojo you can still earn some points by cleaning your craft area, OR your linen closets this month.
I am still not quite fully recovered from my second Covid-19 vaccine. DH actually encouraged me to lay down and take a nap when I mentioned I felt like I wanted to lay down. The extra rest did help! Maybe I'm out of the woods now? My In-laws did fine with their vaccines, they are 2 days behind me and already doing better, go figure!
I did get 18 layouts done in February, and 33 cards made. Thirty-one from sheetload patterns, and the others for DT assignments. I can post one tomorrow when it goes live.
The last two years March has been a good month for me. I hope this is the same this year.
DH and DS leave on Saturday (yipee!) for the flight testing trip. They should be gone all week. I am cooking for them and freezing stuff, so they won't go to hungry. They are taking the motor home, and will have power. They will be in the middle of nowhere San Bernadino County with no internet or cell phone service. DS15 has been looking forward to going to see the testing. It has been delayed by almost 6 weeks. Even his teachers think it is cool he will get to go. He's only in person 2 days a week and has a very light schedule. Much more to the story as he is on the FASD spectrum--high functioning, on a modified diploma plan and has a great deal of help at school. I will zoom met with his Service Coordinator with the Developmental Disabilities office this month to set up his yearly plan. We just recently qualified him for these services and are waiting on the state to qualify for funding for additional services. That could take up to 70 more days.
Looking forward to the online crop later this month

Hi there March is when I start to get my energy back after the winter. It hasn't been bad here this year but Daylight Savings gives me back a lot of time - I'm that rare person who LOVES springing forward. I live for sunlight. March gets me out in the garden too, especially if we get some sunshine. I have lots of pruning and weeding and planning to do. Most likely it will rain every day like usual and I won't get anything done before the garden springs back to life, but I can have hope. I'm not sure if I can bring myself to do it but I think I will keep a very rough sketchbooky journal this month documenting the pandemic year that has been. I stopped my Covid journal around election time last year but I think we're at an interesting point to pick back up with some of that documenting. I'm just not sure if I have the energy to fill that notebook. I'm hoping I didn't jinx myself talking about it. I'm going to pick up a black pen and start and if I hate it I will quit. I've been soaking in too much "inspiration" from everyone doing cardmaking on IG so my head is spinning and I don't know what I want my style to be. This always happens when I let other people into my head, so I might have to mute everyone. If I have time and energy I'm going to try to use up a lot of patterned paper making cards this month. I've been pretty good about not shopping. I have a crochet project to work on, decluttering I want to do, and of course the great selling of all my in-laws' collections project continues... I'm an eBay seller now. Moved a Japanese porcelain lemon juicer and a brass Cape Cod fire starter to new homes this week. I've been trying to sell that fire starter for almost a year! Listed on eBay, sold in a day! The juicer sold in 45 minutes. So I'll be doing a lot of lemon juicer and glassybaby photoshoots this week.

Hi! February was one of my most productive months ever thanks to the challenges here! I’m hoping to keep that momentum going into Match March. I’m hoping to tackle the rest of the challenges I didn’t get to in February.

Hello friends March seems to be my month to get back into some type of routine. We finished the 8 week Iron Paws virtual dog race Thursday. So I actually got back to the gym Sunday. Sadly even though I modified and told myself to not push it, I did and I’m still a bit sore I will talk to my coach tomorrow and knowing her she’ll scale me back to the perfect amount! We moved our youngest dd into her own apartment last month and I’m partway moved back into the small bedroom I like what I have set up so far, but have a really long way to go. Hopefully being in a new pretty room will be inspiring so I can work through my stash! I’m bummed that I went from a huge U shaped desk to now just the one section of that desk. But it was nice giving our dd so much furniture! Thank you all for having me back

@gmcwife2 - for a virtual race, do you do short courses around your own neck of the woods and record/submit the time? Do you have to wear a go-pro? Are there do-overs? Is it honor-based? Yes, the gyms works muscles so differently than functional activity, it's hard to go back to gym exercise and not be sore!
I can't believe it's been a year since our lives all changed so drastically and for the worse. What is your "last of the normal" memory???
Last year, we were in Niagara Falls for a dance competition this weekend. So much enjoyment, company, entertainment. Away from home, eating out, sight seeing. Actually had a rough weekend in some ways - the car broke down and we had to get a ride with another dance family home (with all our baggage!) then get the car towed home! But in my memory, because it was the last hurrah and because we miss those times so much, it's all rosey!!!

But in my memory, because it was the last hurrah and because we miss those times so much, it's all rosey!!! It's funny how things going a little bit wrong turn into good memories later, not always of course, but if we keep our cool and sense of humor they can be fun things to look back on. Last year we were already trying to stay home and be extra careful because we were supposed to be traveling home to NZ on March 17. Each day we were having long conversations with the family trying to figure out if we'd still be able to travel or not. Spoiler alert: not. But my friend always likes to remind me of the conversations we had last February, meeting for coffee and talking about the virus and thinking it wouldn't affect us too much. I was very worried for other parts of the world but had no idea how it would hit us. This is the time of year we often take a trip. I knew last spring we probably wouldn't be able to reschedule our NZ trip this year (we're still not sure if the airline will give us any credit for our tickets or not, we're assuming not) but I didn't really think the borders would still be closed. We usually go home every second year so we're hoping we can visit the fam next spring. So many of my memories of this time last year are tinged with the knowledge/concern that things were going wrong so I can't quite remember the last "normal." But I vividly remember my last couple of bus rides, and when I decided the bus was too dangerous and so I walked 3 miles to and from my last library volunteer work day, March 16, the last day the library was open.

I'm having a tiny bit of 28-4-28 withdrawal. I would wake up in morning and think, "hmm, I wonder what the challenge is today?" How about you schroema? I don't have big goals this month. Continue walking, keep the house tidied, help the daughter find things to do - nothing special. angel97701 I love my people and I'd be lonely without them but some time to myself sounds heavenly right now. Hope you enjoy! I'm happy for those of you who have refreshed their crafty space. I have a spot in the family room and a table upstairs. Sometimes I get my exercise repeatedly going upstairs to fetch things or cut things. I shared the projects I have been working on over in the sharing thread. It is coincidental that you choose this day to ask about a year ago. I was just saying to DH that it has been one year since I went to a job for money. Substitute teaching doesn't pay that well and sometimes the kids were not nice, so there's that but I miss teaching. There's a chance I'll be a LEGO camp leader this summer. That doesn't pay well either, but it is fun.

That doesn't pay well either, but it is fun. You said that right, the pay as a sub is not great, and sometimes the kids are way less than nice . . . I've been subbing since 2005, and have experienced a bit of everything.
On this week last year I was subbing, and asking my inlaws to NOT go out. MIL had several brain surgeries in the 6 months prior and I felt she was very vulnerable. She also had mild diabetes and heart issues. Now they go out with masks on and have had both Covid vaccines.
As for our family we were planning on going to NZ for the America's cup this month. joblackford, our AirBNB was cancelled about 8 months ago with full refund. We had reserved a big house for 3 weeks for the finals. We would be on our way now, if the world were different.
Now I am helping DH and DS pack up the motor home, make contingency plans if DS has an episode, and praying that he does super well with his Dad for this trip. He can be a ticking time bomb with his FASD behaviors and impulsiveness. They may be gone just a week or up to 10 days. I've cooked meals ahead for a few dinners and our standard eggbake and banana bread breakfasts. DH is getting the last details together for his part of the flight testing. DS has his stuff loaded, I just need to get the last of the refrigerator stuff in and I think they are good to go in the morning.
Then it's just me and the doggies and kitty! A much needed time of respite and renewal, and hopefully crafting along with the chores I want to get done while they are gone!

My parents already sent my husband a commemorative tshirt with two boats tacking to spell out N and Z. Yes, we had AirBnB and motel reservations a year ago and they were all refunded in full, no problem. That was a relief since getting through to the airlines was impossible a year ago and what could they even promise? No one knew if this would be a few months or a few years long. Auckland is so nice in March... although the earthquakes yesterday not so much. I hope everything goes well with your plans. I know that anxiety leading up to a big event with someone with special needs. Hopefully it all goes smoothly.

But in my memory, because it was the last hurrah and because we miss those times so much, it's all rosey!!! Yes, we do run mostly local trails, but are free to run wherever. We have teams in the US, Canada and international but I can’t remember where exactly. In prior years we’ve had regional teams and meet ups. We would also meet and run with other regional teams and have social gatherings. This year of course we didn’t have social gatherings or regional runs or teams. My group of friends did run together without our usual after run lunches. We socially distanced and wore our masks during our runs. We would just met up and ran the same trail for the semi company! It is honor based, as like the race marshals say, the only prize is a medal so please think about any complaints or non sportsmanship behavior This year because of covid they did have to change a lot of the activities. We get points for our mileage plus the extra activities. This year instead of socializing we had more dog training things. Pictures or videos of your dog doing tricks or commands. They also had a mail run. Teams of four people had to get a letter from the west coast to the east coast. And a hilarious duck race. Those little plastic ducks took an unsecured ride in a sled. Last duck to stay in won and the commentary was great! And yes on the different muscles worked at the gym! Today was my third day this week and I’m feeling better, but pretty tired and glad it’s Friday! Though we are running dogs tomorrow just for fun! My last pre-covid event was my nephews birthday last year, he’s a leap year baby so we actually got together right before everything started shutting down! That really helped in those early months! But like everyone else, I really miss visiting with my parents and siblings in person! We still have the pile of Christmas gifts for them waiting to be delivered. Hopefully by the end of this month! I haven’t done any creating yet this month, but I’m getting closer! I keep working on my craft room during my breaks and lunches. So hopefully I’ll be able to get something, maybe a few cards made Sunday!

I know that anxiety leading up to a big event with someone with special needs. Hopefully it all goes smoothly. Thanks! He did fairly well today, only slowed down in the end. DH might have had a bout with food poisoning as he had a tricky tummy this afternoon/evening. So maybe it was for the best DS came home with me after we did some things at the shop. I am trusting God will move mountains and keep him stable while they are traveling.
We had heard that Auckland is wonderful in March . . . and it is on DH's (hence mine as well) bucket list to attend an America's cup race. DH tried out for the Olympics in the 80's in a Flying Dutchman, just missed out representing the US. He also raced Bucaneers for many years with his Dad, and place in the top three for about 12 years in a row. My favorite boat to watch (unless my DH is racing) is the J boat, so elegant. We don't get to do much sailing here in Central Oregon though. But this year's cup boats are pretty impressive, and the US team come-back try after that horrible crash was amazing. The Kiwis sure did a nice job helping them out!

Well I’m just getting on here this month. The past two to three has been a mess of doctor appointments for my kids and trying to fit in homeschooling and normal life. Crafting has been very low but I have fit some in here and there and finished up my 2015 album and am pretty much caught up for things years PL album. Now I want to catch up our 2020-21 school album. The time and creativity is currently lacking but I’m hoping to get a nudge with the challenges this month.
As for real life it’s still just filled up with doctor appointments, referrals and so on!

I have a free schedule for the next week to 10 days! DH and DS15 left for the flight testing trip yesterday morning and what a relief! I had a shiatsu massage that had been re-schuled from a the day after my second Covid vaccine, yesterday at 11 am so it was essentially the first thing I did with my freedom. So relaxing and healing. Then not having to worry about hurrying home I went to Joanns to poke around, then went and had sushi by myself. Yum! DH and DS don't really like it anyway. Then to the garden store to shop local and buy a seedling heat mat and a grow light to get a head start on my seedlings for the both the greenhouse and the outdoor garden. I also enjoyed the live crop both yesterday and today. No worries about DH or DS needing something. The In-laws had me over for dinner and we had a very nice chat about how the boys are both doing and what DH and I have learned in the last few months. It was nice to have a full private conversation with them. They've been super helpful having DS over 2-4 times per week just to play games or do a few paying chores for them. Now to work on the list that I've made for myself to get done while DH and DS are traveling. Need to make the best use of my time! In the good news department I received DS15's Developmental Disability qualified Medicaid card in the mail. That is a huge burden lifted. If he needs psychiatric care, now he is covered. We will also qualify for an in-home support attendant, and 14 days of respite per year. We've been doing it on our own for so long, it's hard to believe it is actually going to change for the better as we move forward. Such a journey! boymom5 hope that your referrals and Doctor appointments are helping make progress! gmcwife1 what a great time your dogs must have had! My dogs get a mile at best, but always love that too! schroema we all go through dry spells! jjpeapea It is heavenly, although I do miss them a tiny bit, just not the stress of parenting my FASD son, and the down time that I have to NOT worry about if he's going to exhibit negative behaviors or not. kitbop missed you today in the live crop EVERYONE, you really should try to join us in the live crops, they are a healthy time of quiet crafting mixed in with questions and sharing, and "what would you do with the page" stuff. It's lovely! Very good for your mental health!

How's the week treating everyone? I have been in a scrappy funk this week - pushing photos around on paper and getting nowhere. Last night, I tried a mixed media background for the 2 pager I'm trying to create, and it was painful, but then turned out cool. HOWEVER, when I put the photos back on it covered the mixed media and really didn't work! So I'll set those aside for another page, and start again I have bought a few fun things to play with this week - will pick them up Saturday - and a LSS near me that I've never been to is having a 20% off sale, so I thought I'd take a peek at them! Anyone else buy anything? Create anything?

kitbop - hopefully the mojo comes back soon - sorry the mixed media didn't work for that page. I finished up my Mediaeval Faire photos from Jan 2019 and made some more progress on sewing a dress for DD14. I have four boxes of cube shelfing sitting here waiting to be assembled - once it is, then I can get rid of the rest of the boxes in here.

I've had the house to myself all week while my husband and FIL rebuild a deck for a neighbor lady. It's right on the edge of being too big and technical a job for them - they're handy guys but not professionals - so I'm hearing a lot of thinking aloud planning at night, but during the day I can turn on loud music or videos and make a big mess in my workspace and leave dishes in the sink. I usually manage to get about half a day's worth of crafting done on a good day and this week I spent 2-3 of them working on sentiment panels for my SIL to put inside cards that don't have sentiments. Die cutting panels and scraps, and then a lot of stamping... A couple of hours just for slowly adding scor tape on the backs of them while watching videos, and then I realized it would've been easier to order her a tape runner. (She's not a crafter and I'm not sure what kind of glue she has to attach them.) I have all the piles of *plans and ideas* on my table, and working on getting the energy and time to actually *do* them. Today I made a start and got a set of 12 cards done. I have a couple of boxes I'm filling for donations. The one for the foster kids might be full enough, so I can sort and bundle the cards and get them away next week. kitbop sorry to hear you're in a funk. I did do some shopping this week - MFT caught me with their Blitzday deals and I ordered a bunch of things even though the thing I really wanted sold out while I was shopping. I have some new supplies from Hero Arts to play with too. Linda the Mediaeval Faire photos looked like a lot of fun and I love that you include all the vowels in your spelling of Mediaeval. Reminds me, I got hooked into listening to "bardcore" music on YT the other day. Popular songs done in mediaeval style, my favorites sung by this lady with really beautiful voice. Your family might enjoy this:

Wow, a whole week, and I've managed to keep myself super busy with tons of stuff! Lunch with friends twice, coffee with another, and dinner with a fourth tonight. Made homemade granola, picked up Rx, scheduled irrigation repair and carpet cleaning, cleaned linen closets (ready to donate now), spent 3.75 hours in a Zoom meeting for DS's Developmental Disability planning, watered plants, picked up printer inks and got my new work laptop printing, wrote business invoices, paid bills, did some shopping for health insurance, did the weekly garbage roundup with recycling, and subbed 4 hours today! Carefully picked the teacher I subbed for, small nice classes and even played badminton with 3 gals for 45 minutes (PE sub today). Oh and one mustn't forget that I managed to sneak in 3 or so naps this week too!
Small amount of crafting, but not enough! LOL! But I do feel re-energized and more settled. DH and DS have had their frustrations on their trip, but overall DH things are going well. Already broke the test plane so back for repairs, then out again this weekend. Also had to do some repairs on the motor home like a new battery and fuses for some uncooperative things. At least the frig is still working, that is the most important thing in the motor home, beside the fact that it must also drive!
I am looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow at the virtual crop. I have to see our accountant first but should be home in time. Carpets are being cleaned on Sunday morning of all days?
Have a great evening everyone!

Linda - saw your dress mock up and love the flow of it! Are they new cubes? It's great to get more storage. I need to go look at your faire layouts - that sounds like it would really be fun to scrap. Maybe I need to pick out some "event" photos to get me out of my funk. I'm struggling with a multi-photo 2 page layout about the first month of covid - just a mixture of our lives in that month - so it takes a lot of thought. I have all the piles of *plans and ideas* on my table, and working on getting the energy and time to actually *do* them. Isn't that what the crop next weekend is for? I'm certainly relying on it heavily. I have had DH invite a friend and his son over to occupy my family, and plan to have lots of snacks and food ready for them and me so that I am not distracted. angel97701 - it wouldn't be a memorable trip without some small repairs, right? The little struggles that we successfully navigate give that sensation of "success!" I was saying to DH: last year, our trip to Niagara Falls for a dance competition, the car broke down. We had to tow it home. And yet...it was a "good" trip and we remember it fondly (yes, partly because it was the last normal weekend before the world spiralled). Glad that your two are doing OK!

joblackford - thank you - I enjoyed scrapping the Faire photos and that Echo Park collection was perfect (I bought it specifically for them - I have leftovers though so need to dig into older pics - I may have another year of Faire unscrapped - we go every several years). Thanks for sharing the music - I did enjoy it. You've been busy with card sentiments and cards! angel97701 - wow- you exhaust me with your list of accomplishments! Glad that the week re-energised you! kitbop - thank you. Finishing up hemming the dress today and then will print and tape the pattern in one size up and cut it out in the white fabric. Yes new 4x2 cubes (4 of them) to line the back wall of my new craft space. DH asked me if I was waiting on him to assemble them so hopefully he'll get a chance to work on that soon. I hope you make your way out of the funk soon - will you be cropping next weekend? I'm hoping to get a break from moving/unpacking to do so.

I’ve been in my room every day organizing and putting things away. The best part about working from home is getting to do house stuff during my lunch break! Today I sat down and cut all the pieces for 14 cards. I’m excited to to put them all together tomorrow! It was also good testing how the room set up is working before bringing everything in. I did decide to move a couple things around already

Wooohooo, today was a good day. By 2 pm I had gotten up early, fed the dogs breakfast, went to my 10 workout class, showered, eaten lunch and finished putting together my 12 cards! Of course after that I’ve been done for the day it was a tough workout so I laid on my massage pad for a bit. Now I’m cooking dinner and planning my week. And surfing the net Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

so no scrapping today but I did sew a dozen napkins (half grey and half red) from flannel to replace some that had worn out. DH built 2 of my cube units and I got them filled. Unfortunately he managed to break a 3rd (ouch!). Hopefully he'll get to the last one soon. I'm going to need to replace the broken one at some point though. Otherwise just unpacking and sorting and laundry - we took a load of boxes to recycling and picked up another car load of totes from the old house.
Hoping to sneak in at least one layout tomorrow.
