While listening to the radio this morning, they talked about how the pandemic has changed grocery shopping habits and shopping patterns. They also talked about everything people stocked up on a year ago and they still haven’t used. So...what are those items for you?
I haven’t used the barley I bought, but some soup would be tasty.
I have a ton of yeast (still a good shelf life left) and dried milk.
Otherwise, I’ve always been pretty good at keeping a fully stocked pantry and rotating through.
I’m just curious how the pandemic has affected your food purchases, storage, etc.

I don't usually keep cold medicine on hand, but I picked some up last year that we haven't needed to use. Also Tylenol. Just 1 bottle, and I think 2 different cold medicines, so nothing major. I am happy to have not needed to use them.

I have some shelf stable almond milk that I haven't used, although when the power went out with the winter storm, I almost broke it out. I also have an incredibly large bag of lentils although I cannot recall why I have such a large bag. I made it a point toward the end of summer 2020 to start using things since the supply chain had started to recover.

Not used flour and sugar, but did get brown sugar a few weeks ago to make chocolate chip cookies I haven't made all year.
I have some clorox wipes, but they will get used.

I did have a lot of soup and beans but I have been trying to use that up over the past few months.

The only thing I bought that I haven’t used much of is a box of disposable gloves in case someone was quarantined and getting food taken to the room.

We haven’t used the cough syrup, Tylenol, or ginger ale I bought in case we got Covid. I’m thankful for that. I still have a jar of yeast. I bought a 2 lb brick of it, gave half away, and have used half of what I kept. Most of it is in the deep freezer. Every thing else that I bought was stuff that we use frequently and it’s been used over the past year. I still maintain a big pantry of food though. I don’t want to be in the stores just yet.

Canned soup. Cold-eze, for the zinc Clorox wipes, yup. We bought a five pack from Costco, and I was so happy when I found them, but we still have 3 unopened ones. I guess we didn’t use them as much as we thought we would.

Other than clorox wipes I didn't buy anything different than I usually do. I bought and had on hand 30 rolls of toilet paper before the panic buying started. Toilet paper is one of those things that I'll be using until I drop dead so I always buy when prices are low and am always stocked up. I always have plenty of flour, rice, sugar, lots of canned goods and two freezers full of frozen things. I rotate my supplies so they stay fresh. I live in earthquake county so I've stayed stocked up since I first got married.
I had never purchased the Clorox wipes before but now I will never be without them. I have two extra containers of those in stock now.

Nothing - we didn't really stock up on anything in bulk. When toilet paper was in short supply, we'd grab whatever we could when some was in stock, but we've long since used that up and buy at our regular pace again.
Never stocked up on any kinds of meds or extra food. We had a well-stocked pantry and freezer as it was.

Nothing. The only thing we sort of stocked up in was TP and I bought a massive thing of rice online lol. Everything was used or eaten.

Powdered and canned milk. I was worried that we wouldn't be able to get fresh. I also bought almond milk for the same reason but DH has decided he was lactose intolerant and has been using that up.

Still have two big bottles of ibuprofen and one of acetaminophen. Glad that we didn’t need them over the past 12 months. Still have a couple of big Lysol Wipes, I have used about 4 of the smaller ones in the cars, but that’s the only place I use them. Oh and a couple of big packages of paper plates.
Have a couple of toothpastes, an unopened shampoo/conditioner set and some spare deodorants, all of which I can use eventually. The NSAIDS will expire before I use them up (hopefully!). 2 extra Lysol bathroom cleaners, 2 extra toilet bowl cleaners.
I usually keep a spare of all of the above on hand, but these were all leftover pandemic-related purchases.

We got some off brand (not store brand and not clorox or lysol) cleaning wipes because we used them daily and all cleaning supplies were being wiped out.
Strangely, we never got to them. By the time we ran out of what we usually use, they were back in the stores enough for us to be able to buy them as needed again. I'll have to pull them out to use them soon.

Hand gel and disinfectant wipes. We only really use hand gel when we're out but we haven't been able to go out much with such a long lockdown. Wipes I avoid using because they're so bad environmentally - I guess I bought them in a panic without really thinking what I'd use them for.

Yeast. I bought extra so I could share with a friend who wanted some, as well as some extra flour for her. She flaked and never got it. The flour was donated to the food bank last summer. Need to check the dates on the yeast and toss or donate that too.

Nothing. Everything we bought was used. But I only bought what I knew we would use.
I am ahead by 1 Tylenol bottle but that will get used as dd takes 1 every week 30 min before infusion and usually about 4 hours after for pain.

I have a small, unopened bottle of Tylenol (I’m an Advil girl) a fingertip oxygen reading thing (the official name won’t come to me right now), and 2 unopened Clorox wipes that I finally found in the late spring/early last year (I don’t typically use them either). That’s it. One person, living in the city, I figured worse case scenario would be having delivery or a friend drop stuff off if I got sick and needed It.

I have too much hand sanitizer. I bought it assuming my school would not provide it, but they have Send it in and give it to the teachers! Yes the school is supplying it, but that doesn't mean the staff has some when they need it.

Yes the school is supplying it, but that doesn't mean the staff has some when they need it. I am a teacher, which is why I stocked up. My district has done an amazing job keeping us supplied and we have been in person since August. We have multiple soap dispenser type sanitizer dispensers in every hallway. Almost outside each room, so the kids use those and not always the ones in my room.

Cleaning supplies! I purposely have gotten them for my husband for school.
Schools are notorious for not having what the staff needs when the staff needs it. He has taken some things in and used them.
So, my suggestion if you'd like to help a teacher please send in what you don't think you will use. The standard line that staff hear is "it's on order".
