Nah, I didn’t mean the media. Okey dokey. I’m really not trying to be curt, so I apologize if (ETA: that!) it came off that way. Just trying to clarify that when I referred to how some people are receiving the news, I didn’t at all mean the reporting; I literally meant the receiving. The reactions. It reminds me of reactions to - not reporting of - Trump’s “Grab ‘em by the pussy.”

I should have said that Gaetz’s actions have finally caught up to him, and any punishment is well-deserved. That’s what I really meant.

I know Matt Gaetz. When he was a Florida state rep, it was well known that he and several other male reps had a "contest" for their conquests. They awarded themselves various points for every lobbyist, staffer, and fellow elected official they slept with, and they got bonus points if the women they slept with were married. Lobbyists earned the fewest points, because I guess they figured the women were more likely to sleep with them if it would help with their clients. 🤢 I know people who saw the score sheet. He was buddy buddy with another male state rep who I, and other young female staffers, were specifically warned to not meet with one-on-one - we were expected to have at least one other staffer in the room if we had to meet with that rep for our jobs. And staying quiet about this scumbag (and those like him) is why he’s now at the national political level.

Matt Gaetz came into the D.C. crowd right around the same time as "former guy" running for the Presidency. Coincidence? More coincidences: Gaetz supposedly liked his girls very young (a tad older than the girls that the 'former guy' lusted after and settled out of court re: sexually abusing them-----some boys too). The whole drug thing + sex trafficking is a page out of 'the last guy's" book!!
Gaetz's appearance began to change a few years ago. He went from chubby frat boy (DUIs to prove it) to something really odd! Hair combed straight up and highlighted with an awful color; oddly color of bronzer or spray tan; no lips but HUGE teeth; oddly thin body with a spare tire--always looked like he borrowed Nestor's suits (more later)....... And he seemed VERY hyped and drugged. That Trumpie-aggression/hyped factor was constant. Coincidence that he got so thin and he's SO very hyped up and aggressive??
Back to Nestor. Nestor is from Cuba. He came to FL at age 12, when his mom passed away from cancer. He has a biological father living in Miami, but he lived with Matt Gaetz (a stranger who was single). Nestor lived with his bio-dad for a short time, but moved back in with Gaetz. Gaetz claimed that Nestor was his "adopted son", sans the legal adoption of this boy! Gaetz announced having a "son" during a congressional hearing. It was odd. I hope that some caring members of congress immediately researched it!
Supposedly Gaetz was engaged to Nestor's older sister, and that's the reason for moving in with Gaetz. They suddenly broke up after Nestor moved in. WHY did the child remain in Gaetz's house vs. moving in with his sister or bio-dad???
The pics and statements about Nestor and Gaetz are just plain weird! It's not the way an adult speaks about a non-adopted "adopted" son. PLUS, there are pics of Nestor floating around that make him look SO very different in each pic. I understand that he was growing and maturing, but he looked completely different in the pics that Gaetz shared. Hmm........

it really bothers me that Matt Gaetz looks kinda like Donny Osmond... only *off* and out of proportion. So when I see pictures of him, my brain has to scramble a minute to realize it's NOT a pic of Donny Osmond. (and this resemblance irrationally irritates me, because I think Donny Osmond is attractive. But Matt Gaetz? not so much. ) My husband thinks he looks like Aughra with Botox. I love your husband.

When you are staff in an environment where it's hire and fire at will, there's only so much a person can do without great cost to their personal and professional life. The organization was also limited in what they can do to elected officials, as the only ones who can address issues are fellow elected officials (and mostly limited to those in leadership positions) by state constitutional requirements or the actual electorate.

I also expect you were young then. I think expecting young 20 somethings to know how to best handle these situations is disingenuous. I had some older male superiors treat me in ways I didn’t appreciate at that age, and I would love to go back as someone in my 40s with my experience and knowledge and call them on it. Don’t blame the young women.

I was actually just thinking I haven’t really been in a position where I have witnessed it as a more mature woman. I have been mostly home with my kids and am now starting to get back out in the working world again. I think woman their own age just calling them on it could go a long way. ( and men of course , but that may be asking for too much)

So sad................ Gaetz communications director resignsBY JULIEGRACE BRUFKE - 04/02/21 11:32 AM EDT 1,423 A senior staffer in embattled GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz’s office resigned on Friday following reports the Florida Republican is under investigation for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a minor and a possible violation of sex trafficking laws, according to a GOP source. Luke Ball formerly served as Gaetz’s communications director. NBC News first reported the resignation ** thehill.com/homenews/house/546170-gaetz-communications-director-resignsValadao gives Gaetz donation to victims of abuse
BY LEXI LONAS - 04/02/21 04:31 PM EDT Rep. David Valadao (R-Calif.) is donating campaign contributions Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) gave him during his run for office to victims of abuse in light of an investigation into Gaetz for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old. Valadao, a freshman Congressman, received $2,000 in campaign contributions from Gaetz in 2018, Axios reported. "The Valadao for Congress Campaign has donated the contributions to the Marjaree Mason Center in Fresno to support victims of domestic abuse," said Andrew Renteria, a spokesman for the campaign, in a statement to Axios. ** thehill.com/homenews/house/546229-valadao-gives-gaetz-donation-to-victims-of-abuse

They were staff directors- literally the only people allowed to censure reps are other reps. That, or hope their constituents wake up and vote the person out of office. It took people voting out the future Florida House Speaker, Chris Dorworth, for something to be done about his affairs, bad business dealings, and other problematic behavior to make sure he never stood behind the gavel. People in Tallahassee didn't like him either, but as an all-powerful future speaker, they were afraid to mount a coup because if they failed, they would have lost all power and prestige for the two years he was speaker - and their bills would gone nowhere, so they would be unable to effectively serve their constituents.

This quote from Matt Gaetz’s book looks so much worse after his sex scandal blew upAlex Henderson, AlterNet April 02, 2021 Reporting on the book in Vanity Fair on September 14, 2020, journalist Abigail Tracy drew attention to some of the things Gaetz had to say about then-President Donald Trump's personal life as well as his own. Gaetz, one of Trump's most bombastic supporters, wrote, "I have an active social life, and it's probably easier in the era of Trump. We've had 'perfect family man' presidents before, after all, and many of those men sold out our country, even if their wives were happy the whole time. If politicians' family lives aren't what really matter to the voters, maybe that's a good thing. I'm a representative, not a monk."This last line now seems more like a confession than a boast, as multiple reports indicate he has been sexually inappropriate at work and may have paid women for sex. Trump, during his presidency, was incredibly popular among far-right White evangelicals like Pat Robertson, Tony Perkins, James Dobson and Jerry Falwell, Jr. — which is ironic in light of the fact that, as Tracy noted in Vanity Fair, Trump was a "thrice-married serial adulterer." And Gaetz, in his book, used the words "fun-loving politician" to describe Trump and indicated that he was cut from the same cloth. ** www.rawstory.com/matt-gaetz-2651337818/

How the investigation started... Matt Gaetz Left A Paper Trail That Led The Feds Right To HimFRI, APR 2ND, 2021 BY JASON EASLEY Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is turning out to be one of the dumbest potential criminals in history as a string to text messages led federal investigators straight to him.The Daily Beast reported: In late January 2020, U.S. Secret Service agents received information that Rep. Matt Gaetz had accompanied a Florida county tax official they were already investigating on an unusual nighttime visit to a government office—where the local official was allegedly making fake IDs, a source close to the investigation told The Daily Beast. Why was Matt Gaetz in a tax collector’s office after hours with someone who is under investigation for making fake IDs? The speculative answer might be that Gaetz and Greenberg were making fake IDs for underage girls as part of their sex trafficking operation. The cover story from Greenberg is that he was showing Rep. Gaetz how the tax collector operation works, but the logical question is why would he be doing this after hours when the office was empty? Members of Congress tour all sorts of places, but they do so during business hours when other people are present. Gaetz appears to be caught. The fake IDs are just another piece of an incriminating puzzle that suggests the possibility of criminal charges for the congressman. ** www.politicususa.com/2021/04/02/matt-gaetz-left-a-paper-trail-that-led-the-feds-right-to-him.html

"Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz, a spoiled 38-year-old adult child of a wealthy Floridian who has never had to earn an honest dollar in his life, is allegedly a part-time predatory teen girl aficionado—something he emphatically denies—and is unquestionably a full-time creep. Quelle surprise: It seems there’s more slime on the representative from Florida’s first district than there is in all of the Everglades. It’s hard to say what exactly made the exposure of Gaetz’s dirtiness so predictable to people outside the Beltway. It could have been the 16 speeding tickets and DUI, his aspirant daddy relationship with former President Donald Trump, that time he staged a photo of himself to mock COVID-19 by wearing a gas mask, his friendship with alt-right figures like accused Holocaust denier Charles Johnson, appearances in media where he appeared addled, or the fact that he was known to haunt a popular college bar in Tallahassee while he was serving as a state lawmaker.... If that’s the case, then why the fuck didn’t any of Gaetz’s congressional colleagues do anything? Why didn’t any “party officials”? After the Times reported on Monday that the FBI was looking into a relationship Gaetz allegedly had with a 17-year-old girl, Gaetz has denied any wrongdoing while insisting that the real victim here was Matt Gaetz and his family, who Gaetz said were being extorted for $25 million. Gaetz’s damage control plan involved a disastrous appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show that Carlson later called “the weirdest interview” he’d ever done. As last week cranked on, more information came to light, each tidbit more skin-crawling than the last. It now seems that Gaetz wasn’t the target of the FBI’s original investigation, but rather was caught up in a child sex trafficking involving a crooked small-time Florida official and friend of Gaetz’s named Joel Greenberg. Greenberg was indicted in 2020 for, among other things, sex-trafficking a 17-year-old girl whom Gaetz may also have had sex with. Investigators are looking into whether the disgusting duo was arranging sexual encounters and commensurate payments online as recently as last year. Gaetz has been a member of congress since 2017. But wait, there’s more. A story The Miami Herald published in 2017 resurfaced in which Gaetz was alleged to have created a “game” with other young Florida legislators, the object of which was to sleep with state house interns, married colleagues, aides, and lobbyists. (In reality he didn’t really “create” that game inasmuch as he copied a frat house game Lifetime has been making movies about since at least the mid-1990s, so let’s not give Gaetz too much creative credit; even his predatory behavior is derivative and unoriginal.) Reports also allege that Gaetz would brag about the women he’d slept with, sometimes showing nude photos of them to colleagues on the House floor." www.thedailybeast.com/matt-gaetz-is-the-model-republican-representative-a-creep-no-one-is-surprised-about?source=twitter&via=desktop

"The investigation into Gaetz’s behavior now is about whether he’s been sleeping with a teenage girl, bringing her across state lines, and paying for sex. Gaetz’s troll persona seemed to be working out so far, but it may have caught up to him. “From what we’ve seen from him, there really are no boundaries,” says Weiner. “ I don’t think that Matt Gaetz was expecting consequences to arrive for him.”On Monday’s episode of What Next, we looked at the how Gaetz found himself under investigation. It turns out this scandal is even weirder than you think. Our conversation has been edited and condensed for clarity." slate.com/news-and-politics/2021/04/matt-gaetz-joel-greenberg-sex-trafficking-investigation-florida.html
