I have seen so many slimline cards and products coming out these day. I have jumped on the bandwagon some by trying it out.
What do you all think?
So you like it?
What products have you bought for these cards?

I think they're nice, different. I'm a long time scrapbooker, but new card maker, I just got a die cut machine, so I don't have any supplies specific to that size. But I do think they are nice.

I like them a lot - though like small square cards more, and mostly make A2s. Some card makers have been making slimlines for ages without all the new products, so with the exception - so far! - of nested rectangle dies from Gina Marie, I’m aiming to use what’s in my stash. Mostly. You know how that can go. .

I’ll admit, I don’t get it. Is it bigger, or are the proportions better to work with? I make lots of cards, but I’m avoiding this trend, mostly because I don’t need new stuff!

I’m not a huge fan of the craze, but I did purchase 1 slimline die.

I've been making these types of cards for many years, but I do just fine without the special dies. I don't think they're necessary, but they're nice to have if you think you'll use them.

I've been seeing them everywhere and was tempted to get the slimline cardstock sold at scrapbook.com. But then I really love my A2 cards and have so many dies to match. Have you seen Spellbinders small die of the month April release? So pretty, it fits a slimline card. Link: www.spellbinderspaperarts.com/small-die-of-the-month-membership/And of course after I saw this, I had to rejoin the spellbinders die of the month club...

I think one draw is that they fit in a regular business sized envelope. I have seen a couple of images (like a hot air balloon) that also work for a taller card much better than the proportions of an A2. To answer kellyr21's question, I've purchased at least one die and a set of card bases/envelopes from Close to My Heart. I think I bought a second die set from elsewhere but can't recall which at the moment. The die from CTMH is basically a striped cover plate... I'm thinking I can make it look like a candy cane or something for Christmas cards.

I have made a few, and I like them, but I still prefer the A2 cards. I have a few slimline dies. I can’t remember if I bought them from Lawn Fawn or My Favorite Things. I also have some Silhouette slimline card cutting files.

I have one die set that is specific for slim lines and that’s all I’m looking for. I think the trend is fine. I’ve done a couple of slim lines. But I don’t ‘need’ to do a slim line. I think regular card size is also fine.
So it just depends on what mood hits me that day that I’m making a card.
Nice to have options I think

I've purchased one die but haven't actually made a card yet. I do like how they look and I also like that I can adapt these to fit into a business size envelope so I don't have to make an envelope.

I have yet to come to a conclusion myself!
I cannot decide if they are a fad or here to stay. But since I'm happy making my A2 size cards, and since I don't make many, why change, especially since I would be opening myself up to spending money on supplies?

I purchased a stitched die, a stencil set, and a floral stamp. Other than that I will mostly use what I have already. I have made a couple of cards already.

I did buy a slimline die set from Amazon and the cs paper pad from Scrapbook.com. Still trying to decide if I like the trend or not.

I like options. I have a few dies because I like the stitched lines you get with a manual die cutter. But we really don’t need all the dies for A2 cards either. I’ve reverse engineered specialty pop up dies from Lawn Fawn. Doesn’t stop us from buying the dies. There are cycles for all trends. Slim line size is not new, just coming to the forefront as something different that we haven’t seen in a while. Before you know it all the crazy fabric trims will be back.

I like the slimline dies b/c they cut larger images that I like using on cards and on pages. Think sky lines or shoreline 8” long. I also like the dies that cut sets of windows.

i've never heard of this so i had to google. so these are cards that fit in policy size envelopes? They fit in the same envelopes your run-of-the-mill bills and statements come in, business size, number 10 I think (?) Maybe they're popular because people can steal envelopes from their employers to mail them. ( just kidding!)

I used a slimline cut file for my Christmas card 2 years ago and it was really nice, something a little different, and worked well for a tall skinny tree design. But I am still trying to use up the odd sized scraps from that cardmaking session. I will always default to A2 because it's an efficient use of letter sized paper/cs. I guess the slimline paper packs would be an antidote to that problem - if I was planning to make a lot of slimline cards I'd rather buy paper close to those dimensions than be stuck with lots of weird offcuts.
There are some designs that work well for a wide/tall skinny cards. I have some Doodlebug die cuts that were designed for scrapbooking that won't fit on A2 but work on slimline, and I have some stamps that want to be arranged into a photostrip but they're too tall for A2. I bought one stitched die set that includes window cut-outs for slimline cards, one set of border dies for grass/clouds/hills that I can use on smaller cards if I want to (since I didn't already have the A2 versions), and one group of ghosts stamp that was just too cool to pass up and could be cut down to smaller sizes - I'm pretty sure it will fill at A2 card, maybe two, if cut in half.
Trinity Stamps, which is based near Seattle (near where I live) is a nice little business that has lots of slimline products.

I like it for scene cards, where I'm using a hot air balloon or a car sliding, just nice to have more room to work with. But I don't like it that I can only get 1 card base out of a 81/2x11 card stock. Thats why I don't make many 5x7 cards either.
I have a few dies to make this size and the spellbinder club has 2 more coming this month, but other than that I'm not investing a lot of money into it. I think this is a trend and will pass.

I’ve been making cards for 20+ yrs and awhile back decided to stick with just A2 cards. I couldn’t handle with dealing with different envelopes etc. So while I will always admire the work and the creativity, I’m not jumping on this bandwagon. Not trying to be negative, just being practical, which is something I don’t usually associate with craft purchases.

I am really not a fan of slimline cards but damn I’m in love with this die. I haven’t purchased the die but only because I don’t want to go thru the hassle of joining the club. http://instagram.com/p/CNZ-v7HB_p-

There is no limit for how many month you have to sign up for and you can skip months when you don't like the dies. I wish for a happy in this style hopefully they will come out with one soon.

I bought a set of slim line dies, took one look at them and asked myself if I’d lost my mind. I decided I not only did not like them, but thought they were awkward and well, ugly. Back they went. I decided after making a ton of A2 cards, I’m going to switch back to A7 (5x7) just for the generous space and the bigger impact of the card front. But that’s just me.

I have a lot of dies that I use for A2 and A7 cards. However, I do like the slimline and mini slimline cards! You can use your dies that you have and most should fit. You may need to make two passes for embossing or die cutting to fit the 8 inch long card but that is not hard. I like having an option versus A2 and A7. The slimline dies that I did get were the different sized stitched rectangle cards that I can use for front panels. I like them! Something new to make!
