Happy Mother's day to all celebrating. (((Hugs))) to all for whom it is a hard day! shinyhappytina - congratulations to Mallory! Enjoy your day and next week's multi-purpose trip! kitbop - congratulations to your grads! I feel you on the lack of photographs - DD21 has already informed me she's not planning on doing the ceremony or getting a cap/gown when she graduates college. I love carrot cake also and it's our traditional first birthday cake but I was surprised when DD21 requested it - usually she asks for chocolate. No exciting plans today - groceries, housework, gardening...maybe scrapping this evening but we'll see.

kitbop I would love to join you for a hangout from 2-4. Here are the projects I made in my stained glass class. I made it out mostly unscathed: a small cut and a small burn from soldering. My friend with Covid is in the hospital. Not life threatening, she’s texting me herself, but more serious than we’d like.

OMG on many fronts justjac - the good - I'm sure you are THRILLED with your stained glass. Those are so very displayable or giftable. I myself am a butterfly fan But your friend - healing vibes heading her way - it is very scary with the 30-60 year ages right now. I will open a link at 2pm EST and put it out on the boards now for anyone who might want to join.

Hello ladies! Happy Mother's day and (((hugs))) to you who are having a hard day. Linda I love carrot cake too. Congrats to your adult middle! @happyshinytina congrats to Mallory! Sounds like you've had a good day. OMG nylene! Congrats to your DGD and you are going to see the baby??!?! That makes me soooo happy! I know we are all telling you to enjoy it, like there is even a chance you won't lol. grammadee so glad you got good news! They keep a radiologist on hand where I get my mammos as well, it helps. justjac I hope your friend will be on the upswing soon. It's so scary hearing she's in the hospital. Your stained glass pieces are awesome! and congrats to your soon to be graduates kitbop! I almost got caught up in the FOMO on that thread for crop and create. I've never taken part in a class where there were supplies provided either and I think that was the cause of the FOMO lol. I've seen my mom for several hours, my kids have been here and gone and I did not take a single photo. Of any of it! What the heck lol. Since mom doesn't drive now I took to all the craft stores she doesn't visit often. That town has the saddest Joann store I've ever seen. The scrapbooking was one small aisle. very little paper, no stamps or inks to speak of. I was so disappointed for Mom and for myself lol. A couple of times she tried to say "scrapbookers" and it came out "scrapburgers" so we are now scrapburgers lol

Happy Mothers' Day, Pokeys! Hope you all had a great day. Glad you got to see your mom, joyfulnana. Too bad the craft store you visited was crappy. Are there any others nearby that you can plan to visit next time? Sounds like you had a full day, kitbop. Glad you got to chat with justjac and others on line for awhile. Another carrot cake lover here, Linda. But I would love chocolate, too! Hope you got lots of baby snuggles--and photos, nylene. Thanks for being mom to all of us Pokeys. Hoping you are feeling a little better every day, gramma. We miss you here on the board. (((((Hugs))))) to you, kellyr21 as you miss your mom on this day. Pretty quiet day here. Talked to most of the kids, and got some cool pic's of MD breakfasts. Did a little scrapping this morning: made a companion page for the one I did yesterday about vaccinations. Still waiting for the photos to go on my May calendar page (for yesterday's Sketchy Saturday sample), but if I don't get photos for it soon, I will put it together and post it without pic's. Gathered together some supplies for my LOAD LO for tomorrow. We had pancakes for supper. Heading into a quiet evening. Hoping to watch a couple of shows I PVR'd last week.

justjac - beautiful stained glass joyfulnana - sometimes making memories is more important than taking photos - glad you had a good day - sorry about the dismal Joanns grammadee - sounds like a nice quiet day! busy-ish here - housework in the morning while DH was at work and the girls slept in. Then grocery shopping with DH. Followed by yard work - moved all my container plants to the other side of the yard as we're expecting the concrete to be poured tomorrow. Transplanted my marigold and bell pepper seedlings into pots. Watered everything. And then DH and I walked around the yard picking up branches - we've had several windstorms recently so there were plenty to pick up. DS called this evening - he's deployed helping with a mass vaccination site. It doesn't sound like he'll be able to come home this summer which is a shame but...that's how the military is sometimes. DD14 cooked dinner tonight - not one of my especial favourites but it did mean I wasn't cooking so that's a win (she made salmon, carrots, and a marinated onion/cucumber salad) and we had leftover birthday cake for dessert. DD21 cleaned her room (YAY) and did some weeding for me.

Thank you Pokies for all the well wishes. It's been a heck of a few days. Two weeks ago today I felt so rotten I left work early. By Thursday afternoon I gave up and asked my daughter to take me to the ER. My goodness, blood tests, x-rays, multiple doses of meds to stop the nausea and attempts to vomit, CT scan, insertion of an NG tube, echocardiogram and I don't know what else!! I remember saying at one point "I am so so sick".
It turned out that the hernia repair I had 8 years ago had failed. I was scheduled for surgery on Monday and told I'd be staying in the hospital until then. 3 days of an NG tube, multiple medications to stop nausea, reduce stomach acid, antibiotics (UTI as a bonus) and heparin. OH and potassium and magnesium. Just so ya'll know, potassium via IV - hurts, a LOT. After surgery I was told that my stomach was almost fully through a hole in my diaphram that the Dr. described as being as big as a large orange. My stomach was adhered to my lungs and chest wall and was pressing on my heart. YIKES!!! I'll find out tomorrow what they did to repair all that because I really don't recall all of what they told me.
You will all be glad to know that I retained my sense of humor and sarcasm through most of all this.
Thank all so much for thinking of me - who says message board friends are not real friends???

Good morning ladies! I hope that everyone's week is off to a good start.
Justjac - I love your stained glass! You did an awesome job on them.
Linda - I'm sorry that your son is going to continue to be deployed, as a parent, that would be really hard. I am always so grateful for those who serve, it is a very different lifestyle. One of my best friends from my childhood is career military, she has lived all over the world and readily moves where ever they send her. I couldn't do it.
Gramma - It sounds like you've had a really rough couple of weeks! It is so good that the docs were able to figure out what was wrong and get you taken care of, but it sounds like quite the ordeal. Prayers for healing and comfort.
I'm glad that it sounds like you all got to see your kids or Moms for Mother's Day. It was definitely a lot better than last year's Mother's Day.
I'm headed into the office today, I've been working from one of our offices 2-3 days a week since January. Although I do hate the days that I get ready and go in, only to spend most of my day sitting on Zoom calls. It's kind of weird to be in the space where things are partially in person and partially virtual. I think it will be a long time before we go back to being fully in person again, even with most of us being vaccinated, but I do appreciate getting to see my co-workers in person, I miss them all.
Hope you all have a nice day!

gramma - wow - that sounds miserable and like kitbop - I'm wondering how you managed to come home so quickly. Prayers for complete healing. shinyhappytina - thankfully DS is deployed stateside this time not overseas but that's just the nature of the military. I was a military brat growing up and DH is a veteran so we knew what to expect when DS enlisted. DD14 was at the local school for testing this morning (and will be tomorrow also) - please pray she does well on the test - it's the end of course exam for Algebra I and she needs to pass it to get credit (and it's a graduationr requirement). If she doesn't pass, then she'll either have to retake the test or possibly re-take the class next year. And of course, I feel like it's also testing whether I'm managing to teach her or not. Spent the morning doing taxes - I'm a cheapskate and the online program we've used before went up to $72 this year so I printed out forms and did them on paper instead. Ugh - what a pain.

Wow, gramma! I hope you are continuing to recover at home and that THIS time, the repair continues to do the job. Congrats to all the kids and grandkids who are graduating this year! I am in the process of getting some formal grad portraits of my dgs who is doing his last year of high school on line this year. kitbop, you wanted to see some farm dogs on my pages. Today the ScrapHappy prompt was to scrap a pet and to use paw prints on the LO, so here is my page: Play Ball! by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

I love the shade of blue and green you used grammadee, the half-and-half design, the "ball" in the background - it's works perfectly for these doggos! So happy to see border collies on a farm. They are such a beautiful intelligent dog and they can be so crazy when kept as city dogs...they are just bred for work/purpose/farmlife!

gramma , how on earth did they release you so soon after all you have experienced. That sounds like a HUGE repair with lots of other organs involved. I am so glad you went to the hospital. Sorry about the NG tube. My husband still shudders when he hears the words. Very unpleasant experience. You have been in my thoughts and prayers and I'm so glad you are doing better. Your humor and sarcasm serve you well and we miss it. Sending healing vibes! kellyr21, hugs to you. I thought about you on Mother's Day. Those days are always hard after losing a loved one. Linda , I'm sorry your DS won't be home this summer. I am glad they are setting up vaccination clinics throughout the US to reach those who are under-served. Do you know where he will be? shinyhappytina , nice to see you checking in. Going to the office to watch Zoom meetings doesn't sound very exciting. I think you are right about it being a while before we are all back in person to our normal lives. grammadee , I love your half and half page and those beautiful dog photos. Lovely page. I'll look closer in the gallery. Our little DGGS, Eddie, had his first field trip out of town to visit us. The whole family came, DD and her family and DGD and family. It was so nice to hold that tiny little baby. Em brought her family over too, so we had a houseful, but it felt like old times. We took photos, but will need to send them to Costco to be developed before scrapping. They stayed about 3 hours and everyone got a chance to love and snuggle him. It was the best day since the Pandemic shutdown began. We facetimed with Anj so she and her family could enjoy seeing the baby too. Everyone was vaccinated except 2 DGS who wore masks. I had a neighbor call on Sat. to ask if I had a box of cards I would sell him to give to his wife for Mother's Day. I put some in a church fundraising auction a few years ago and she really liked them. DH and I had taken the train to SLC for the day, but when we got home I dug though my card stash and found enough to fill a box which I, luckily, already had made. I made such a mess in my scraproom that it will take all day today to put things back together. Have a great week, everyone. Waving to all the Pokeys!!

Happy Wednesday! How are we almost halfway through May already!? It seems like many of you are doing well and I’m happy to hear that! I’m hoping to get some scrapping done this weekend. What are your weekend plans? No weekend plans here. Tomorrow and Friday I hope to do the rounds of the greenhouses in the area to pick up bedding plants for the garden, but they won't go into the soil until early June. They will live on a wagon that will be wheeled out into the sun in the mornings and back into the garage in the evenings to avoid frost.
Hope you get to scrap. I have been keeping up with a LayOut A Day over at Scrap Happy, but except for my 5 year old vacation album, I am running out of photos.
nylene, your visit with family and the sweet little one sounds heavenly!

Neisey, it's so nice to see your smiling face pop up in the thread. Do you have any big plans for the weekend? Nothing exciting going on here this weekend, except the regular laundry, shopping, etc. scrapperjen1 , tell us what you are scrapping. Any excitement going on in your area this weekend? Schools here are out a week from today. I hope that the Covid numbers don't go back up with all the kids running around. grammadee , what a kind gardener you are to give your delicate plants sunshine and still protect them from frost. I hope they grow well for you because you are willing to give them a wagon ride each day! How are the dogs doing? I know that from now through harvest is a busy time for you. gramma , hope you are doing well and healing each day. I finally got a bunch of photos ready to send to Costco. I just finished the order when I got an email from DD with the link to the wedding photos. Sometime this weekend I will go through and pick a few for scrapping. I will also get copies of DGD's High School graduation. Two weddings and 2 graduations and a new baby in the family should keep me in photos for quite a while! Have a great weekend, everyone.

No big weekend plans for me either. I'm going to go to the LSS to look at the new Lawn Fawn stamps and dies. I definitely don't need them, but I kind of want them. nylene I'm jealous of all your photos to scrap. I'm taking pictures for Week in the Life and they are pretty boring: a weather app pic, me at my desk at work, my scrapping desk, a selfie of me and Dean. I don't think I'll start scrapping them until next week. I'm plugging away at Layout a Day, too. Good news about my friend with COVID. She's getting out of the hospital soon. Then she has to isolate until Tuesday. Then she can go out into the world, although I'm not sure she'll feel up to doing much for a bit. gramma how are you doing? Your description of your organs moving around sounded pretty scary!

justjac, I am so happy to hear that your friend is able to leave the hospital. I hope she continues to do well and that the two of you can visit soon. I was wondering if you were going to continue with your stained glass work. Your butterfly and iris are so beautiful. Is it the kind of place where you can drop in and make something if you want? (like some of the ceramic places)

gramma - are you around in the evening? I'm probably going to be busy with chores during the day. We're emptying out my dads apartment, and the garden is a mess. But I'd love for a "reason" to lock myself away and scrap anytime after 5 or 6 pm EST

Not sure yet what tomorrow is going to look like. But would love to chat with you, gramma , even if I may not be scrapping at that time. My scrap room looks like a bomb went off in here, but just now I managed to clear off some counter space "just in case". Pick a time that works for you, and msliz can add it to the schedule. Like the movie says, "If you build it, they will come!"
And, gramma, I am DEE-lighted that you are feeling well enough to play!

Good Morning! gramma that sounds traumatic and I'm so glad they didn't remove your snark and humor I'm in for tonight, but will probably be a little late. It's been too long and I've neglected my scrapping lately. nylene your day with your family sounds wonderful and I'm so thankful you got to gather your family. I know how hard this has been for you. My little family are now all completely vaccinated and I'm thrilled about that! They've lifted the mask mandate here in Kansas City, but I've noticed for the most part people are still wearing them. Of course it was just lifted yesterday lol. I know I'm not quite ready to give mine up yet. Today will be cleaning house and finding a sketch for next Saturday. Eeeck! I almost forgot about that! That's what I'll be working on tonight. Tomorrow the kids will be here for dinner and I'm going to try to remember to get pics! Linda how did DD do on the Algebra test? I hate Algebra with a passion, it is so hard for me! scrapperjen1 if you're scrapping tonight jump in and say Hi and scrap awhile. It's the best of both worlds, cropping with others, but no packing up your stuff! justjac that's such good news about your friend. I hope she continues to feel better. I know the vaccine is in short supply in Canada, I read an article yesterday that they are finding the longer you go between doses, the stronger the antibodies you develop from the first shot. I thought about my Canadian friends here when I saw that. grammadee I love your doggie page! I've got to get to the gallery and the sharing thread. I know it will help lift my slumping mojo! And yes, gramma, real friends are made on messageboards aren't they?

Hi Pokey friends! I'm busy playing in the yard this afternoon. My ds and hubby are helping me with some planting and mulching. I'd love to jump on to scrap for a bit tonight too, so unless something crazy happens, I think I'll be able to join the crop for a bit this evening also. Hope you all have a great Saturday!

So sorry I missed the crop yesterday! I had to work all day (that wears me out) and had dinner with friends last evening. I hope you all had fun!
I finished a layout on Friday evening of our 2008 Disney trip (yes, I’m that far behind!). I can’t figure out how to insert it in my post though…

Happy Sunday! Our apartment has been in disarray all week. We had fumigation on Monday suddenly after find two more gigantic bugs. Then, we had our blinds replaced. So we are still trying to get everything washed, cleaned and put back. So stressful so just trying to take it slow. I hope to be back on my computer this week. My craft area may take a few more days. SMH!
