They are a choice here too. Of course. My point was that every Canadian who wants to be vaccinated will be able to do so by mid summer. The good news is that a large portion of our population is interested which is great. [b Haven't finished reading, but do you mean that all Canadians regardless of age will be vaccinated by mid summer? Here in the US kids under 12 still aren't being vaccinated and no firm idea when that will happen.

I think she means every ELIGABLE Canadian who WANTS to be vaxd will be by mid summer. Under 12 cant here and there are still lots of anti-vaxers (my area has one of the highest % in Canada who wont).

That could be said of Americans too though. I can’t imagine anyone who wants to be vaxxed and eligible isn’t already in the US. If that is what she meant I don’t really get what her point was, that is why I asked.

So my cousin who was supposed to come to the US today (which boggles my mind since all we keep hearing is the border to the US and vice versa is closed to nonessential travel) to see her father she has not seen in 2 years now isn't coming because "Too much work to get back"...WTF??? I thought all Canadians had to do was test negative and prove they were vaccinated??? So confused You have to take the pre-entry test 24-72 hours prior to crossing the border (our test results took 48 hours). Even with everything straight forward (negative pre-entry test and completed ArrriveCAN app), it took us 2 hours to get through the border. The bottom line is neither country is encouraging casual visit trips yet.

Those who want to be vaccinated...Yes, so far 77.7% of Cdns over 12 yrs have been vaccinated at least once. We're still have huge ongoing vaccination clinics.

I posted this minutes ago and crossed the border yesterday. ETA I was responding to why christine58's cousin might find the new rules still too much to go through trying to visit her dad even with the quarantine rule lifted.
