Happy Thursday! Well, we are officially on vacation today. My dh has a career event he is hosting tomorrow with his personal projects. So I will be assisting him on Zoom. Then when it is over, we can both really relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend. He goes back to work on Tuesday. We are planning to go to an art festival in Laguna Beach. So happy lots of you received your cards! I just love the Jen Hadfield pp. I just ordered a kit with this collection from HSN and love it! So more cards and los to make. I will be popping in this weekend and hope you all have a great day!

I fell in love with the week 16 sketch from the Allison Davis class and pulled papers last night to start that LO. I used this sketch 6 weeks ago because I loved it so much, and I figured I was getting "ahead" of the class that way. I will probably use this one again - it was fairly easy to put together with the 4 simple squares in the background. It was this one: layout alien entrance by kirstendrew, on Flickr

Good Friday morning, Pokeys. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Mine, so far, is a mystery. Ds & ddil had at one time discussed coming up to the farm this weekend, but then thought it wouldn't work b/c of the boys' ice times. (They start competitive hockey YOUNG). But last year about this time they managed to get away and called me once they were on the road, giving me just a few hours to prepare. Haven't heard from them yet this morning. But thinking after that flurry of garden harvesting I need to get this house ready just in case. Sheets and towels are almost finished. Need to vaccuum and wash floors and clean some bathrooms today. If they come, my house won't be too embarrassing. If they don't, I will have a clean house to craft in over the weekend. Win/Win. joyfulnana, if you are playing with that Allison Davies sketch, can you throw it up for Sketchy Saturday? If I have time to play, I would love to give it a whirl. Okay. Must. Get. Moving...

Hello Pokies I'm off to a slow start this morning - didn't sleep well and woke up not feeling great. I've done some housework - still need to do dishes and vacuum and finish up laundry (so much laundry). But I hope to scrap some this afternoon. Haven't had a lot of creativity lately so I've been working backwards through the sketchy saturday sketches. kellyr21 - enjoy your vacation kitbop- I absolutely love that layout! grammadee - I'm hoping for a crafty weekend also.

gramma, Thank you. I wish we had taken more photos. I will send those to you. The die cuts are Doodlebug Cute and Crafty Odds & Ends and I got them at scrapbook.com. I don't usually buy embellishments but I loved these.

joyfulnana, if you are playing with that Allison Davies sketch, can you throw it up for Sketchy Saturday? If I have time to play, I would love to give it a whirl. grammadee it's a paid sketch, so I won't be able to share it but I know I will be coming home with a few new free ones next month that I'll be able to share. Linda I hope you're feeling better today! kellyr21 enjoy that vacation! kitbop I love that LO! The papers I want to use are pretty busy so I'm thinking I'll probably end up with a variation. For anyone interested in these classes, she provides a ton of additional content as far as sketch and photo variations. It was definitely worth $17 for the sketches and extras. I feel like this go around she's added more than the first class she launched. nylene Drew and Samantha LO's are so so pretty! That balloon arch is eye catching! And I'm thinking I might have to have those cute doodlebug embellishments now lol. I'm going a quick clean up around here and I am going to scrap someway somehow today. But I'm really enjoying making up page kits so part of me wants to put some together for Sketchember. Avoiding the first page in months I do believe lol. Hope you are all having a great weekend!

love the bookworm - so adorable! Great layouts nylene. I always forget about the Pokey point joyfulnana - thanks for the feedback on the class - I've never paid to take one but this one does seem like it would be up my alley Loads of joint pain today so taking it easy. DH 'gave me' permission to scrap all weekend so...

Requirement: 7 very special cards, 4 for graduating dancers I've known since they were 4, and 3 for special dance teachers Deadline: 11AM grad party Saturday morning Additional tasks: 1. make sushi for the potluck, required groceries not in the house 2. Drive to get the "special" gift cards (not available online) to put in the cards 3. write very thoughtful things in the cards Start time: 5pm Friday evening. I made a "new" design for the grads...I had the rainbows already die cut/pieced together from making extra when I did a previous project, so I designed the card to work around them. I ink blended/stenciled the background (need to work on that technique, but I was working so fast I thought "good enough"), splattered it, embossed it, die cut the sun/clouds, stamped on the sun and inside the card. For the teacher cards, I copied previous cards I'd made that I really liked. I was making them this morning, and quickly realized that those dang triangles take FOREVER to cut out (I cut die cut hexagons into the triangles), colour and layer!!! Got Katie out of bed and sat her down to colour triangles while I did the rest of the work. Stamped some nice sayings inside the cards. Overall, I was very happy with the cards...altho stressed and 30 minutes late to the grad party, I even got myself into a dress! Not a great photo, as I took it just before running out the door. gramma Congrats on your newest addition! linda , Happy Birthday!! kitbop Your cards are so pretty! I have been working hard on getting my STAR clinical ladder done. I got it done last weekend and able to get it signed this week and turned in. I was looking forward to relaxing this weekend but had a bought with my BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo). I got off work Friday morning and was falling asleep sitting up. I went to go lay down and everything just spun and then nausea/vomiting started. Ugh!! I finally got about 3 hours of sleep and got up and I couldn’t get it to calm down enough to go back to bed. My Dad has these issues on occasion. I was finally able to lay down at 8pm and sleep all night. I woke up mildly dizzy on Saturday. Today, I feel like myself again. Thank goodness!! My computer is still working good. I am just trying to get my backup files from Carbonite reloaded to my computer. It is a slow process. I have had it running for over a week and it is halfway done. I do the Great Cycle Challenge and this will be my 4th year of participating. They raise money for kids with cancer. I qualified this year to be on the Times Square billboard!! I wish I could have been there but they sent me a photo of when it was on the billboard. I need to figure out how to print that off and scrapbook this. I am still fighting with getting my garage door installed. I keep getting mixed messages from the installation center and what my project manager has been told from her manager. I had to call her yesterday and she apologized for all this and told me that at anytime I want my money back, that wouldn’t be a problem. She said she has went as high as she can and doesn’t know what else to do. She is still going to try to help me the best she can. I have used her for all my other big projects with Lowe’s. This is the first project that isn’t went as smooth as the others. I am at the coffee shop but about to leave. I need to run by the grocery store and I need to prep my meals for work this week.

knutschen, nice to see you checking in, but sorry you have been sick. I hope the dizziness is gone for good now. Congrats on being featured on the Great Cycle Challenge. Now if you could just get that garage door going, life would be great! It sounds like the computer is running well and I hope your work is too. Take care of yourself! Linda, Happy Birthday! I'm sorry you have been feeling so sore and aching. I hope that a day of scrapping helped to make you feel better. Are you working too hard or is this something that happens often? Take care of yourself. We need to keep you scrapping! kitbop, your cards are amazing! I will leave comments in the gallery. I love that radiating embossing folder! I have never seen a cicada, but I agree that they look like an alien species. You did a great job catching the whole hatching process in photos. joyfulnana, how many page kits have you put together? I an anxious to see what you do with them. I need to do that more often, especially when I am in a real scrappy mood. My problem is that I get excited and don't want to wait so I put them together right then. Kind of defeats the purpose of having some on hand. LOL grammadee, did you get company after all? If not, you are prepared for the next time family wants to come visit. It seems impossible that summer is over and we are heading into Fall. We are having very hot weather starting tomorrow, but the past few days have been perfect..except for the smoke. We hoped while we were on our mountain we would be above the smoke and we were somewhat, but it goes clear up that high too, not as thick, but still there. How about you guys in Canada? Are you getting US smoke too? gramma, have you been able to spend time with your new little DGGS? We need more photos. kellyr21, MARIBETHR, justjac and msliz, waving hello to each of you. I'll start a new Sept thread on Tues. night.

Good to hear from you knutschen. Have been thinking of you, msliz with all that crazy weather out east. Not too smokey right now, nylene, but we have had lots of gloomy days due to smoke. Ds & family did not end up coming this weekend. The boys had ice times and it was just too much to schedule a 5 1/2 hour (one way) trip around. School starts Wednesday and now that hockey is starting, I don't see them getting away for several months. I thought that if they didn't come that I would get lots of scrapping done, or at least some prepping for SKETCHtember. But I finished one page (My sample for Wednesday, and have one page kit *sort of* put together. I did manage to clean off my scrap counters so there is now space to scrap when I get back to it. Oh, and I signed up for the Crushing on Cardstock class with Jennifer McQuire and friends. Spent some time watching the first class and have printed off the pdf's. Lots of cool tricks that make diecutting and paper piecing easier. One I want to try is to lay out all the pieces on Stretch n Seal, then using that to move the construction around. I giggled when I read your adventures the morning of your dd's party, kitbop, because it sounds so much like something that I would find myself in the middle of. Can I make something for the pot luck? Of course. Make some cards? Definitely. Do them all at once AND get ready to go? This is the situation that SIT-coms are built on...

knutschen - congratulations on completing your STAR clinical ladder! I'm so sorry your weekend was spoilt by not feeling well - I hope you're back to rights again now. Glad that the computer is better - Carbonite is slow but so worth it not to lose files. Good grief- I'm sorry that the garage door is still not resolved. nylene - thank you. My joints are back to their baseline pain/achiness/stiffness which is good. I have osteoarthritis as well as joint pain from scleroderma and it flares periodically. I've just learnt I need to slow down and take it easy when it is. grammadee - sorry that they weren't able to visit but hopefully you'll be able to get scrappy in a nice clean space now. Enjoy your class! I had a lovely, scrappy birthday weekend and spent most of Saturday and Sunday in the craft room. Dh and I got takeaway and ate lunch in the car at a local park (too hot to sit outside at nearly 100 before the heat index) watching the ducks. Dinner was a flop - the bagged salad was rank and the stuffed chicken breasts were a different brand than usual and none of us liked them even enough to finish. So we all had a yoghurt for dinner. DD14 made a chocolate mint cake with mint chocolate chip frosting from scratch - yummy! My gift from DH should be here Wednesday - a gemini jr. Today I have weeding and housework - not sure if there will be scrappy time or not.
