Ali is killing it this year, I think. I love her last few days. It makes me feel like this is doable for me even though we're not out-and-about as much as usual this year because of covid. New ornaments, gingerbread houses, little pockets - I love it all. 100%. I am really enjoying her videos - I feel like she’s being way less polished and just letting us come along as she thinks and creates. I totally love it. You can tell she’s in a good place creatively. AND, I have to admit this years kit has been a lot more fun and versatile than I anticipated! Also loving having the DD design team and seeing so many ideas. I totally agree with both of you. The videos have been so fun. This is the first year in a long time that feels like Ali is totally involved and enthusiastic. The Instagram posts from the DT round it out nicely. I’m really happy I took the plunge and bought the kit this year. I’m having a blast.

I finally found a way to use Ali's super messy, erm, juicy inks. I made ornaments (it's a mix of clay and play-doh) and embossed them with stamps. The few ink pads I tried didn't work, but Ali's red ink was perfect. Yay.

Quick question- I’m using a 6x8 binder - which brands have page protectors with 2x2 sections? Thanks! For the universal 2-hole binders, Echo Park in their My Storybook page protector line and Simple Stories. SB.com offer the 6x8 with a 3x8 and 2 3x4 as well if you're using some of Ali's long 3x8 cards.

DECEMBER 11 First //Photo prompt: Catch a first today. What's manifesting itself for the first time this December? First snow, first holiday drink (and red cup!), first holiday card received. Or what is your first thing of the day through this season? Perhaps this is the first time you spend Christmas elsewhere, or with (or without) someone. Creative prompt: Create a page of number 1s. Use up some of your number stash or stamp sets to document all the firsts you and your loved ones are experiencing this year. Don't forget about this being the first Christmas vaxxed 'and even boosted) for many! Song of the day:

Since this is my first year, I have a question. Does every day need to be numbered? Does anyone here number some days but not all?.. I love numbers and number fonts more than anything. I have 3 of the mini kit boxes full of numbers not counting the ones on the sheets of alpha stickers so I do numbers. But there are no rules. For day 9, Ali realized she forgot the number and was like, oh well, it will be obvious in the flow of things. Just do what works best for you!

@sunnycamom To add to what's been posted, it's truly up to you. I usually number them (and start after Thanksgiving), but this year I'm being more loose with my album and just making sure I put dates on things I want. schroema I'd definitely look at scrapbook.com for those page protectors. sleepingbooty That song has been stuck in my head since I found it yesterday. I hadn't seen the video though! Thanks for the posts, as always.

Thanks all! I found the page protectors I was looking for!
@sunnycamom I am not numbering my pages. For me, I prefer to date pages with the actual day they happened. Not sure where misc things like movies/music collections will go, but I figure I’ll sort it out when I get there.

Last one for now. Need to get some laundry done. Made this pocket page. The measurements and instructions are in the IG post. I like when others share measurements and how to's. http://instagram.com/p/CXWyDYCPgk2

This is my first year following along. I am disappointed with the videos. I just wish they posted at the same time each day. Life is crazy right now so I really look forward to those emails. I agree. I like that Ali's are consistant in that respect.

I have been enjoying Ali's content for DD as well as many others. I usually have their videos on while I am working on my DD.

@sunnycamom - I don't number mine because I'm not really doing December Daily so much as December Documented (and really Advent/Christmas/Epiphany). Early in the six week season - I don't have daily photos, later in the season, I'm telling multiple stories each day. I put them in roughly chronological order byut stuff that isn't really tied to a specific day (favourite songs for instance) moves around a bit to make my mix of single and double-page layouts work out.

For as excited I was about the lead up to the holidays, I haven't been in a very festive mood and it's a bummer.
I'm slowly trucking along without working on anything.. Journaling on my phone when I think about it and going through my memory bank of things I haven't thought to use as "stories" yet.
We went through the fab 40s in East Sacramento tonight and looked at all the lights (and multi-million dollar homes we'll never own lol) but I didn't take any pictures.
What do you guys do for no photo stories?

For anyone that's following Shimelle's Journal your Christmas, how do you feel about the inconsistant new videos? I know that I'm getting access to the class content year after year with just one payment, and she is linking old entries on the days she doesn't have one ready. I'm just slightly disappointed that she's not posting a new video of her entries every day. I didn't realise how much I look forward to my daily dose of her talking through her process as she puts a page together. I'm not particularly upset about it, just wondering if anyone else following the class has a preference for all new content or couldn't care less? This is my first year following along. I am disappointed with the videos. I just wish they posted at the same time each day. Life is crazy right now so I really look forward to those emails. I totally get that, it would be really nice for me if they were consistent. But I also understand why they aren’t. Life comes first and she’s pretty up front about that. Since it is your first year I would advise going to a previous year’s videos if you want a consistent routine for inspiration. You can catch up with the current videos later. If you go back a few years to when WB was younger you’ll find she had a lot more time. The prompt emails are basically the same year to year, just slightly tweaked or moved around a bit. It’s all there in the forum

What do you guys do for no photo stories? I've been the same. I was super excited for Christmas in mid Nov, but come Dec all that shiny sparkly can't wait for it joy just dried up. I blame it on work which is busier and more stressful than usual thisy year. If I don't have photos I'll just scrap the memory and use it as a chance to really play with my embellishments, perhaps include a larger than normal title on the page. I had a story last year about how our plans were so different from what we had expected and used things like snowy PL cards/snow globes (we had planned to be overseas for a white Christmas) and a series of little die cut houses.

DECEMBER 12Busy //Photo prompt: It's the most... well, busiest time of the year! Slow down for a minute and peek through your lens to find evidence of all things busy. A look inside your planner filled with appointments and to-do lists, a view of the inside of your car with all the things as you spend your days in it to run errands and take the kids to rehearsal and sports, stuff piling up by the front door, your desk filled with projects. But also, perhaps, something visually busy: an over-the-top decorated tree or your home crammed with kids back from college (and all their stuff). Story prompt: Document a mini Day in the Life to keep a record of a busy December day this year. If you have several people living under your roof, consider making a column to track each person's schedule that day and make them pick their best and worst moment of their day so you can add some thumbs up/down ratings. Song of the day:

What do you guys do for no photo stories? I have lots of days with no photos. It's just so dark and dreary most days. I have the one day where I took screenshots of those Grinch photos that we did. That's just an instagram filter. Super cool. I have a day where I took screenshots of memes and stuff online. I'm going to print those out and put them in a pocket. So both of those types of things are good if you don't have an idea and you don't have a photo. I have my Christmas movie list -- definitely no photos on that. I'm going to use a date stamp for each one then write in the movie next to it. Our advent calendar page is usually bits of the packaging and no photos. Also, I have that day 1 where I am cutting hexies out of the random holiday packaging: grove box, candy cane lane tea, inside of an envelope with cool plaid, festive nog carton, etc. It's coming together really nicely. No photos there. I'm going to make one of the hexies a pocket so I can put the text I typed up inside. Cute.

Being perfectly honest here, I haven't scrapped one page yet. I got as far as my stuff is assembled and I pulled out my DD stamps. That's it. I haven't even watched any of Ali's videos. This month has been more busy for me and I'm going to give myself some grace and just commit to a picture a day and I'll assemble the album later. I just don't have it in me right now. This is what I am doing as well. I am always so optimistic that I can do it in December, then it never happens. Oh well. Im embracing it. Still taking photos, etc and I will put it together in January.

Since this is my first year, I have a question. Does every day need to be numbered? Does anyone here number some days but not all? I am documenting things that happen and will number those. But like my spread about new ornaments didn't happen on x day because we bought them back in November. And the tree didn't go up on x day. Trying to figure this out... I'm a real December Daily rebel and (a) don't call it that since my album includes November stories, (b) don't scrap every day, and (c) don't date my pages. This year, I'm going even more rogue by not numbering my pages at all. I scrap one story per page which sometimes means there are multiple pages for the same day and sometimes means there are multiple days in a row that get no pages at all. I'm a storyteller who take photos & scrapbooks to make my stories more interesting vs. an artist who takes photos & scrapbooks to create art so I lean towards single photo (or no photo) pages and don't need more than one page per story. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day generally get 3-4 pages each so it would be especially weird, to me, to date them.

I didn't have any meaningful journaling or photos for this page but I "had" to scrap it so I found Kevin on the interwebs and played with him in Photoshop so I could use him as my background.

Random, but Michaels and Joanns both have paper pads that have some of Ali's DD papers in them. What!? I thought I was paying boutique prices for boutique product! As far as photos go, I catch up on the weekend. I have so few of the work week, but take a bunch on the weekend and spread them out. I haven't done anything for DD yet except edit some phone photos and jot down a few notes for journaling. Just the way this year is falling out.

Here’s the Michaels paper - the holly is on the main kit and the water color is too (i think) - I’m on my phone so can’t easily compare but they’re really close of not the same. I bought the Joanns pad (it’s DCWV) and it has some of the papers too. So some maybe exclusive but definitely not all.
