Day 4 - Go Blue! Cute pages! Do you go to U of M? No. It was my dream college. Wanted to go there since 7th grade. Cost was too much, didn't get any good scholarships, and I didn't want loans so I stayed local.

It's been a rough few days with my youngest child. My husband and daughter have been in Disney World and my oldest child has been working a lot of hours. My plan is to at least do the photo challenge and to a collage type of page. Possibly two pages.

DECEMBER 13 Up //Photo prompt: Look up. Get up on a ladder for a bird's eye view of the living room. Set your camera up high with a timer to snap a different photo of your daily December life. For this prompt, it's all about taking a step out of your comfort zone and usual lookout on the world. Embrace the wider horizons, angle your camera towards the sky, pretend you're a giant looking in or a tiny ant looking all the way up. Creative prompt: Oversize your photo and let the upwards motion shine through by having most of your added elements concentrated on the bottom of the page. Song of the day:

I was supposed to have (most of) the day off but no, that did not end up happening. Trying not to let this crappy beginning to the week derail my mood. I have Ingrid Michaelson's Christmas album playing, a cappuccino and a peeled orange. If there are no more unforeseen developments at work, I should be off tomorrow. Finally. Let's catch up on some commenting! Here's to page 117 (eep, we've been chitty chatters)... mom Looks like everyone wanted that watercolour set this year... I hope they all paid the proper extended commercial license to the artist! If so, merry Christmas, OG designer. 💰 carolynhasacat I feel you on the lack of balance of work week vs weekend photos. As things die down a little for me work-wise for the second part of December and I'm coming out of 2 weeks post-booster vaccination, I'm going to try and catch up a little by enjoying more time out during the week. But it's definitely a weird balance so far in my DD... refugeepea Sounds like it's a rough time at home right now. Sending you hugs! I hope your daughter's having a wonderful time at WDW. 🏰✨ @sunnycamom Love the cute T-rex pose! So adorable. ❤️🦖💚

Checking back in after ages of being away. Trying to move across the country has been a bit more challenging than I anticipated, up to realizing that my parents accidentally opened their gifts so they could help wrap some of our presents in time for Christmas. Whoops. I hope that will be a funny DD story down the road.
Neat to see layouts and catch up on some prompts! I'm so behind at this point, I have no idea what my album will eventually end up like but trying to roll with the punches. It's been a strange-a** year. I managed to snap a few photos with friends at lunch yesterday and jot down a couple of notes. Calling that a win. I'm hoping to take a bunch of photos once we get settled in the Pacific NW and I'm done with work for the rest of the year. It will be more like 25 stories instead of "daily" and that will just have to be fine.
Thanks for mentioning some of JYC's videos are previous years. I noticed that the other day but didn't know that was fairly common. I really enjoy her videos. It helps get me in the Christmas mood even if I'm not scrapping right now.
Fun to see the 8x10 layouts. I could see giving that a go in a future year.

Getting used to the climate? Enjoying the local culture/way people interact with each other? Did you spot any new Christmas traditions/habits there yet? I think your parents accidentally (or not? *Detective mode ON*) opening their Christmas gifts early is hilarious. Hey, they're not kids anymore! They don't have the luxury to wait that long, tick tock. Did they like what you Santa got them?

Random, but Michaels and Joanns both have paper pads that have some of Ali's DD papers in them. I think she used designs that I had seen on one of the digital marketplaces (hungryjpeg or one of the others) so I'm not surprised that they're showing up in other places.

I have asked some friends for recommendations of fun things to do for Christmas and I'm hoping to ride the farris wheel. That's new since I lived there 17 years ago and I'm hoping for an evening view with lots of twinkle lights. Hahaha on my parents! But my mom was trying to be helpful (or at least that's her story!). She loved the Star Wars puzzle my hubby picked out for them. Luckily, her big gift, my dad hid before she had a chance to peek.

I’m following quite a few DD team member’s IG accounts and enjoying that. But I’m finding I’m craving some minimalist inspiration! This year seems very maximalist to me..fun to look at but overwhems me. Does anyone have suggestions for simpler DD accounts? I sure wish Liz Tamanaha was on the DD team🥰

Other days I like to have fun and make something interactive or creative.

Ok, so this December is going to be interesting. I was so gung-ho for the season, I was ready to put my tree up with aaaallllll the decorations way back in October (that was 65 million years ago now!!!) I still want to do aaaaalll the things, but I'm so fricken exhausted. I can see my album this year. 1 Dec - pretty tired 2 Dec - still tired . . 10 Dec - feeling exhausted . . 13 Dec - interestingly, feeling like I could sleep for 50 thousand years and still need a nap . . 15 Dec - well these PJs make a good change from the other PJs
seriously - what is with this year?? it's like anything remotely fun has fallen into the 2021 vacuum which is dedicated to sucking anything good and fun right out of the atmosphere.
Oh - and my knowledge of the greek alphabet probably could be included in the album this year too!!!!

I totally hear you scrappydo. The plans in my head (we're out of lockdown, everything has really opened up, I should be out there enjoying all the season has to offer this year of all years) are definitely fighting with the need to just have a quiet season at home.

Shimelle’s album is way more simple than I was expecting, if you follow her JYC class.

I sure wish Liz Tamanaha was on the DD team🥰 Just wait a few days, they'll start to wear out, like a kitten. Ha! I'm just trying to be funny not an ass. But I'm with you. What I need to see is spreads with more than one photo but not in a pocket. I feel like everytime someone has more than one photo they use a million photos and make a book. Or print each one onto a tag and put them into a pocket. Yes, I am doing that but I don't want to keep doing it. I would like to have some inspiration with 2-3 photos on one page, not in a page protector, and not in a layered template. I want to cut them out with scissors and stick them onto paper. None of the pages in my Pinterest or that I have taken screenshots of are like that.

DECEMBER 14Home //Photo prompt: Capture what home means to you during this special time of the year. Is it your actual house? Is it the people you share it with? Is it the town you've grown attached to? The town you travel back to for the holidays? Is there anything making your home feel extra homey these days? Creative prompt: Recreate the concept of home on your page. How can you use and reuse items in your stash or everyday life to add home elements to your page? Think of drawing up a map of your home on which you mark the spots where each person spends most of their time, of using your Advent calendar to reuse the window elements to reveal small photos of home life right now, etc. Song of the day:

I would like to have some inspiration with 2-3 photos on one page, not in a page protector, and not in a layered template. I want to cut them out with scissors and stick them onto paper. You can recreate most of the templates by cutting your own photos and sticking them down. If I had a decent photo printer at home, I'd probably use templates for full pages out of ease too, to be honest. Don't let the templates make you feel left out or like it's not worth getting inspired by! I am not really seeking DD stuff out, but it looks like Amy Gretchen is going really low key simple this year. In the simple but still fun genre, I'm nominating German scrapbooker @liebstesleben for her2021 DD album. I'm really enjoying her pages so far. https://www.instagram.com/p/CXOsFgBI0M1 seriously - what is with this year?? it's like anything remotely fun has fallen into the 2021 vacuum which is dedicated to sucking anything good and fun right out of the atmosphere. It's a weird year, isn't it? Definitely still not back to normal. At all! I'm still waiting to get my day off. Just so tired at this stage. I slept an 11h-night last weekend. Phew! I hope we can all come floating to the surface and feel lighter and festive real soon! Sending you Christmassy love. Oh - and my knowledge of the greek alphabet probably could be included in the album this year too!!!! YESSSS! Should've down the countdown to Christmas Greek alphabet-style this year... I sure wish Liz Tamanaha was on the DD team🥰 She has the loveliest DD albums, I agree. Especially pre-DD products. So simple, so beautiful. We haven't quite left Texas yet. We fly out Saturday. Feels a little nuts! An exciting weekend ahead, scrappyem! I hope you'll keep us in the loop. At least you're moving a full week before Christmas? Wishing you and your little family a lovely time exploring your new surroundings next week! I ran across this meme and had to pop in to share it here Instagram fed me the same a few days ago. The California rain (ty rain Gods but c'mon) has utterly ruined any plans of seeing the Victorian Christmas town. Chris said we can push it to next week instead but it won't be the same so I'm all big baby and meh about it. Honestly this entire month has been gloom central. 2 weeks in and we haven't had a single sun only day.. I think it's getting to me 🙃 Buuuut being stuck inside with multiple days off means we can get through some movie marathon stuff I've enjoyed seeing 8x10 pages on IG and youtube.. couldn't imagine myself doing that size in a zillion years but they're lovely to watch from afar lol

I am done through day 8 but have days 9 & 10 planned/started. I have story ideas for days 11-14, but have yet to make anything. I typically don't have time to craft daily so I tend to work on my album in spurts, usually on the weekend, but I got my booster shot last Friday and I was in bed until Sunday so that really threw things off. Sunday, thankfully, I was feeling better, but it was cookie baking day so not a ton of crafting time. I also felt a little grinchy last week but I made that my day 8 story and I think I'm feeling a bit better now. I just hate the rush to check everything off my list before Christmas! As far as my album is concerned, though, I'm not really worried about it, just chugging along as the inspiration strikes/time allows. I was working on putting together process videos in addition to photographing my spreads, but I think I'm going to skip a couple days of that just to speed up the process. I’m following quite a few DD team member’s IG accounts and enjoying that. But I’m finding I’m craving some minimalist inspiration! This year seems very maximalist to me..fun to look at but overwhems me. Does anyone have suggestions for simpler DD accounts? I sure wish Liz Tamanaha was on the DD team🥰 I'm not sure I count as minimalist, but I've keep it fairly simply so far this year. You can see my instagram @lindalovescreating. What I need to see is spreads with more than one photo but not in a pocket. I feel like everytime someone has more than one photo they use a million photos and make a book. Or print each one onto a tag and put them into a pocket. I've done a few spreads with just a couple photos. I do usually use layered templates in that case because it's just so much easier, but you could definitely use a layered template as a page sketch to physically cut out your photos + adhere them in that layout. For day 3 I did a full page photo with a smaller photo cropped out and mounted on top. I also stitched a couple instax photos to a transparency.

I realized I haven't posted progress in a while. I have up to day 9 done. I've got one photo of day 10 printed and the rest ready to print.
I made a list of all of the ideas I have and there are only 2 days that need stories. One of those is Xmas eve.
So if something comes up, I can combine stories or just not make a page from an idea on the list. At this point I know what plans we have and have pencilled those in.
I got food poisoning on Thursday so I made very little progress this weekend.
I'm so glad I made some pages in advance -- nothing that I have to use but it's nice to have some stuff ready to go.
Here's what's left of that: pocket made of acetate stitched to patterned paper that I will use for the advent calendars as pie charts
a bow onto acetate to overlay onto something. i printed this. Inspired from the Liz Mini Kit but too cheap to buy digitals for one bow. I just made one from some images I already had.
a sheet of acetate cut to size. would like to adhere a number to it maybe. But if it's not cut down and in the album ready to use, I would forget.
a fabric pocket. i'm going to stuff it with tags that have screenshots of memes printed on it.
I stitched that red star. It looks good opposite the slanted grid page. I copied that from the 8X10 paper. It was super easy. I made it pink. I'm going to use that for the pics I took of my daughter wrapping presents. And in the boxes I'll cut to size scraps of our wrapping paper. Easy day there, for sure.
I also made that Holiday Watchlist digital page that's ready to go wherever.
I made a page with 6 tags that lift up to reveal xmas movie images underneath but now I don't think I'm going to use it for that. Oh well. It's just paper. I can use it next year or never. No biggie. It was fun to make.
I also want to use one of the envelopes from the advent calendar in the book but I don't know which one yet.
I need to go through my stuff and pull out all the little bits I really want to use this year and keep them handy.
I have not been taking photos of my finished spreads because that's just too much right now. I enjoy crafting but not always posting everything to Instagram right now. I'll probably do that soon when we have good light and I get excited about it.

Working in a 3x8 album has made me a minimalist this year 😁 would love to post progress pics but I’m not on Facebook or Insta 😞 As my album is story and not date based I have a weird range of days done in my album, went for a trip to see the local lights last night and almost caved and got an icecream to celebrate
