Anyone buy any ES today? I have the pattern builder stamp in my cart + holiday words puffys in my cart. Not sure I really need them though. I picked up the star alpha, numbers and labels, a couple of sets of puffy stickers & dies. I have last year’s kit, and this one felt very same-y at least with the colors and overall aesthetic.

I'm starting to lose interest in Ali's DD release. How long will it be before she gives info? The "next few weeks" started last week. Usually, the last week of August marks her December Daily schedule release on the blog. First week of September is full DD release videos and then straight into ordering. It looks like they may be off a week this year? Ask and you shall receive. 😉

It's not looking like Ali's stuff will fit in with my new love, PF, so guess I'll just get an album and call it good from them. If anyone else offered a thicker spine, I'd swap! Anyone?! COME ON!

14 weeks to go until December 1st! Let's carry on with our "slow cooker" prep for this year's holiday documenting... Week 3: AUDIT // STORYLINES & PLOTS1. When looking through your DD albums, what are the main recurring stories you find? Do you notice an emphasis on certain events and/or traditions? Note these down to help you prepare in advance for documenting these same stories again this year. This is a wonderful way to start thinking about product needs before placing your order(s). 2. Step into the shoes of a storyteller and ask yourself what the main plot(s) of your holiday season is/are. This may seem a little odd at first but to help you document your December month a little differently or more cohesively, take the time to analyse what your end-of-the-year holidays build up to. Is it the gathering of family spread apart across the country? Is it the religious aspect of your holiday of choice? Are you more of a person who enjoys December because it's the celebration of the end of a year and the promise of a new, fresh beginning? Do you perhaps participate in a special event (nativity play, choir/music concert, charity drive, etc.) that is central to your holiday experience? Consider such moments and feelings you build up to as the main plot(s) of your album and try to think of ways you can document about these as storylines running through your album. Instead of simply documenting the charity drive on the day your shift takes place, think about including a snapshot of earlier email exchanges, perhaps special groceries you did a few days before in anticipation of your participation, make place a little later after the "main event" for the thank-you card you've received afterwards. Weave smaller anecdotes into the main storyline to enrichen your memories. 3. Can you identify missing storylines and their protagonists in your previous albums? Are you perhaps wanting to include certain family members more throughout the month? Can you identify a storyline or theme to bring them into your documenting a little more this year? Fun themes include "the month from my pet's POV" where you spend December photographing more regularly your furry companion's way of observing and tentatively assisting you with the holiday preparations and celebrations, "work & play" where you document how your family members are having fun working on projects throughout the month (cooking, decorating the house, shopping for gifts for each other, helping a sibling finish homework before the Christmas break, etc.), "sulking is my favourite" if you have some teenagers in the house who are not so enthusiastic about all things Christmas and family right now (heehee). Give yourself some time here and try to think of strategies to include those who are camera-shy (asking them to play photographer, send you a little paragraph about an event via email, shooting them from a different POV such as from above, standing on a chair, if they're working at the table, and so on). Wishing you all loads of fun reminiscing and anticipating the memories to come!

COME ON! 2-ring holiday binders (2 this year including a buffalo check) from Simple Stories! Not their usual 6x8 albums, though. Just the holiday binders.

The lush and fun PF collection or tartan and woodgrain like I planned originally? Oh great, here we go for several turns and twists as I try to figure it out. I'll be changing my mind about 3 times a day for the next week or so.

Ok looking more closely at that image shared on their fb page today..
The papers are kind of meh to me. I love that black one, but I love a good sprinkling of black in my Christmas stuff. The red polka dots is both too tomato and too bland for my liking.
Chipboard houses, yes plz! Along with the chipboard stockings we've previously seen. Also seeing some holly & berries chipboard, what is probably berries or something on their own but definitely look like red olives to me, and a flower.. poinsettia I presume.
I normally really hate gold in everything but I like those numbers. But unless you're getting 3 sheets though, you won't have enough 1's for everyday you need them -- seems par for the course when it comes to AE things though. They always drop the ball with having enough numbers.
Love the pleather (?) hearts - especially the MERRY one. That green is lovely.
Not the biggest fan of cork but I don't normally love those super bulky pieces like cork, acrylic, etc in general.
Those flower/star felt pieces look like starfish and I'll never see it any different.
I like the speech bubbles but hate the rehashing of her usual sentiments.. "love the moments" "finding the good" "right now" are all things she's done over and over and over.. and over again.
That perforated looking paper on the bottom left -- I don't like that the wreath isn't centered in the rectangle.
Love that 'twinkle starry magic' piece though. Not sure if it's my eyesight or what but it looks felt maybe? or flocked in some way? Love that.
~~~
I'm normally a fan of the bold reds/teals/greens/pinks because my decor is Disney and bright. But something is really pulling me towards the darker shades this year. Who knows, everything can change in a month lol
I totally forgot about it! The kit is cute. I think it might match the stuff from PF (which I just pre ordered some) but not enough for me to pull the trigger for anything.
Maybe after I purchase everything from KP and there is $$ and stuff left :-).
The star stuff is super cute, thought!
I have never ordered PF, I hope the quality is not as bad as it has been in the past or I will be :-(
It is nice, but just nothing special. I have so much DD stuff that it has to be something NEW that I don't have similar variations of in my stash (like KP's dog themed stuff or the middle fingle with a bow on it).
I finished going through the stash! Now organizing my Silhouette files (got a new MAC and lost all my organization) so over 1000 silhouette cut files have to be reorganized. Down to like 350 ish.
#3 is totally hitting home for me. Everything is from my perspective. DD is now 13 and I am thinking I want her perspectitive every if it will be exactly "sulking through the holidays". The dogs perspective is also lacking which is the perfect excuse to buy everything KP because I have nothing pet AND christmas themed.
Now off to find some examples on pinterest to trigger some journaling prompts! Thanks booty! I love these posts!
Thank you all so much for your replies. The Peas really are the best. I am going to create a Christmas album, of our Christmas stories for many years. Not chronological. I like the freedom of this idea honeypea! Having a special book of Christmas memories and stories would be a great reminder of the best parts of the season. I think this might be an approach I start this year, and even if I only get one or two stories documented each year, it would be a nice time for reflection. I love hearing about everyone’s plans for their holiday documenting This thread is so inspiring JavaJones. I really like the ideas you outlined and I think I am going to end up with some combination of what you suggested until I land on just the right mix, but I am super exicted to be doing some Christmas documenting this year. It's more of a running Yuletide memories album (adding to it annually with dividers separating each year) This is a great idea! I am definitely making note of what you include in your album. I have many similar events so these would be good things to make sure that I capture. I also do PL the entire year, so sometimes I'll get duplicate photos, but PL usually sticks with the day to day stories and DD is "special". I really admire your commitment to DD dawnnikol. I have also been doing PL this year, and I really like it, so I appreciate knowing how you divide photos and content between the two. I'm thinking of keeping the PL activity based and then focusing more on the stories and memories in a separate Christmas album. I am so excited to get started!
a That perforated looking paper on the bottom left -- I don't like that the wreath isn't centered in the rectangle. I think maybe it’s pushed to the right so that once holes are punched (or trimmed for a pp) it’ll be centered then.
I am staying away from puffy stickers from any company now. I'm curious why you are staying away from puffy stickers? You have too many? Consistent poor quality of the ones you bought? I haven't used them much in scrapbooking, mainly because I have to absolutely love them to pay $5-$6 a sheet.
Alas, I'm a child of the 80's and I will always be stuck on stickers. I stopped loving the puffies when I noticed they “ruin” the page protectors indenting them. Also, I have had a few puffy stickers including alphas from various companies if they are not used right away, they start peeling off the edges on the acetate sheet or “peel off” from the paper after use. I use pleather embellishments and love anything fabric but fell out of love with the puffy stickers. I still have several sheets that I would like to use but trying to not buy anymore.
I like some parts of the AE offerings. I cant say I love it all, though. I do think I like it more than any other kit she's had for awhile. I just need to see it all together. I passed on ES for now. I dont really need anything.
Has anyone heard anything from Pinkfresh regarding their holiday release this year? They revealed last year's in mid-July and it's now nearing September, nothing on the horizon. Just floral galore on their IG feed. And just like that, in a moment of serendipity, Pinkfresh Studio's new holiday collection has been revealed... Prepare for some holiday cavities! A quick look: And a pretty red alpha in a very classic style: Call me crazy but if I manage to get rid of most of that bubblegum pink and candy icons, I think I could work with this... I love the sentiments and the different shades of blue along with that red and pine green. Not a fan of the pink and yellow. Definitely one I need to think over. I wish it had a few pets like KP's release... ETA: There's a special pack of EPHEMERA in this release (genius idea). Some excellent DD titles + prompts here! Oh! I actually love this. Minutes after saying to a friend that none of the Christmas scrapbooking lines have grabbed me this year. It’s so bright and happy, and screams summer Christmas (colour wise!)
I ended up picking up the ES kit along with the puffy alpha stickers, the baking cardstock stickers and the paper pack. I'm hoping it will go with the pink fresh line. There wasn't too much blue in the ES kit which works for me.
I was eyeing some of the stamps and alphas but figured I could wait and see if they were that appealing at the september reveal. the star alpha and labels are growing on me but I'm not sure I can justify that much in just stamps.
I didn't need any of the ES stuff. So I didn't buy anything. I love the colors of the Pinkfresh but not the patterns. I put a couple things in my ACOT cart along with a couple things from Crate Paper. There is something I want that says it will be in soon so I have to wait to put it in my cart because it's sold out.
I need to get out my box of DDs from years past to see what albums I have used. I do really like the sneaks of the albums I see from Ali so I'll get one of those (probably the linen) and some embellishments. I have so much stuff already. I don't need anything but I want a few new things or I won't be inspired to make stuff.
I am looking forward to more from KP, that's for sure.
I was going to order stuff from her birthday sale and everything I picked was probably about the size of a 4x6 card and shipping was going to be 15.00. For about 10 flat things. Her shipping is always outrageous, even worse then ACOT for me.
I’ll be the lone dissenter to the Felicity Jane albums. I’ve used them twice and had issues both times. Basically the rings get messed up in shipping (per the owner) and the clasps no longer align. Pages constantly get caught while turning. Her customer service was less than stellar. Basically I had to ship the album back in order to get a new one. During the holiday rush I didn’t want to deal as I was working on it each day. The albums are nice enough, though annoying with no bookplate, but I won’t take a chance on them again.
What do you include your albums? Is it a daily log of activities, or more like Shimelle's JYC? Some sort of hybrid? I am trying to land on an approach early so I can start to plan/think. I also need to decide if I am going to do December pocket pages/layouts, plus an album, or try to put it all in my annual album. I think having some idea on content will help to drive that decision. I do a mix of day to day stuff and deeper stories. For what it's worth, Shimelle always pitched JYC as an album you add to over the years, telling whatever stories are important each year, even if those stories are not about the current Christmas, rather than a document every day album (even though that's what she does). From your later post it seems like you've decided on something that will be a good fit for you, so I'm excited to welcome you to the dark side of an overabundance of Christmas joy and shopping.
