And Christmas season is synonymous with food and twinkle lights! With all the baking and kitchen-y making on the way, today is the perfect time to listen to a professional food photographer discuss in simple terms how to make your December cookies and cakes look all the more appetising and festive with some basic fairy lights and the right settings on your camera. Clearly you are not aware of the disaster Candyland cake for my ds's birthday that deserves a spot on the cake wrecks website. I console myself that the actual baked item tastes good at least. Pretty sure I could be on Nailed It! and win.

How long does it take for your order to be officially lost? My DD stuff from AE has been out for delivery since October 22. Ugh. I check the tracking number every day and it says in transit but hasn’t been updated in 11 days. I just want my stuff! I think it's something ridiculous like 45 days...? Hope it shows up!

Just figured out part of why I didn't take my JYC through to Epiphany... I got a bit distracted that day by the whole storming of the US Capitol thing. Somehow I hadn't connected that Jan 6th event to it being Jan 6th, the day I end Christmas. Pretty sure I don't want that in my Christmas book, so I guess I'll finish with New Year's and Death to 2020.
I'm currently watching Gingerbread Miracle on Hallmark and getting hungry for shrimp tacos.

I too, loved Prep Day this year. I listened to all of it. The format was perfect for me. 95% of my DD ideas come from other peoples albums, especially Amy Gretchen. Gosh, I am such a fangirl of hers. Her work is perfection. I now have a few more people to check out as well. Pam Baldwin is a total darling. She is the sweetest thing ever and did such a great job moderating and moving along. And I've been using Zine's in my albums for years, no idea they were a thing. Laura's stamping demo was such a hot mess, but that is what stamping is all about. I'm going to try her unemboss technique with something. I much prefer this format than the foundation pages of pervious years. I don't use foundation pages. Not sure about the pie chart. My husband is a data analytics guru and has very strong (anti)feelings about pie charts. But maybe. All in all, WELL worth the $5. I'm totally in the mood for DD. I thoroughly enjoyed Laura, and Pam together, and I agree Pam seems like such a sweet person! I haven’t got to Laura’s video yet, but I love stamping, so I’m excited!

The only webpage I can find with a link to purchase Journal Your Christmas appears to be old. Does anyone have a link that is for the current year? I think I want a new approach this year since we are totally empty nesters I could do more reflecting.
Thanks!

I don't think it matters that it's old, she doesn't really update the class sign up - if you sign up any time you will be added to the forum and email list and have access to all years, past present and future. This page should work: www.shimelle.com/paper/2304/online-scrapbooking-classes-sign-up-any-time/It's just Shimelle running things so you might not get the email with details immediately - usually takes a couple of days. And her welcome/signup emails often get sorted into spam so you'll want to keep an eye on that Welcome to the JYC community - hope you enjoy it!

Getting caught up on the thread. It's great to hear prep party was good! I need to purchase and give it a watch. I really like Pam & Amy too. In getting my studio packed up, I found one of the Color Cast Design 6x8 clear albums I was so bummed I missed. It was in a weird place, not with any other albums (apparently I'd put it somewhere "special". I was so excited to find it. I did end up packing myself a small stash of DD supplies and my Epson printer. I have no idea how long it will be until we find a house but I bet at least 4 or 5 months from now and I wanted to have at least some supplies. When I was doing a bit of organizing and trying to figure out what to take with me, I realized I had 4 unopened kits from CD. I love the kits but I just can't use that much product and I don't want to end up purging a bunch stuff again like I did when we moved in 2020. I got rid of a ton of CT produces from past kits I hadn't used and realized I didn't love as much as I thought. I hate that CD sells out and all that jazz but it may just not be the right fit for me, however lovely I find the products. I wish they'd allow an every other month subscription or something. On the other hand, I'm excited to get their December kit so I'm torn. I'm pretty close to having something ready for printing for 2019 and 2020 (to get my Black Friday coupon price!). Still a little uncertain whether I should order one very fat book or two smaller ones. I'm doing 5x8" blurb trade book size. Never done one of those before. Anyone have any experience with the trade books? I've been watching ShannanM's videos to get a sense of them. I'd love to hear how they turn out if you give it a go! I am thinking of going more digital for 2022 PL to see how I like it. Off to check out Shannan M's videos. Thank you!

I think my opinion may be different because it was my first one. I think most of the commenters have taken the previous classes, so in that regard Ali & team would do well to pay attention to it unless they just delete it like anything else not 1000% fangirl.

Anyone have any experience with the trade books? I've been watching ShannanM's videos to get a sense of them. I have one that I made after seeing Shannan M's books. It is a 5x8" trade book for 52 favourites. It was 108 pages and the spine is 1.4cm (9/16 inches) for the hardcover. The number of pages needs to be divisible by 6 so I have a couple blank pages. The text is clear and crisp. The photos are good but it isn't glossy. I love it (but most of that is the fact I have pictures in my hand instead of my computer or phone). When Blurb has a sale the trade books don't always have as big of a discount. Last black Friday, photobooks were 50% off and trade books were 30% off. My plan is to do JYC as a 6x9 trade book using Shannan's journaling and grid templates. I bought them to do WITL but I have just played around so far.

My mind was blown given all of the Pea feedback 😂 This was my first time to do it, so I had nothing to compare it to🤷♀️. I just really enjoyed Pam & Laura, and felt like it was well worth my money. I might be tempted sometime in the future to buy last year’s, and try it also, just out of curiosity. I feel like for $5 I don’t have very high expectations, so it’s easier to be satisfied with the content.

I like their contributions to the DT, but there wasn’t enough structure to the Prep Day. It sounds like this year’s is improved

It sounds like this year’s is improved I just tried to find a post on this in the fb group but could not really find anything - any help with a link or who posted? I have attended the last 3, and only listened to first half of this year, but I’d say this year is better than 2020 overall.

I'm ready for it to be December. I know, I have it easy. I don't have kids, I don't have a big family to plan gifts or cook for, I don't have to rush to get everything done. But I'm ready. Bring it! Anyone else on the let-it-be-December-1st-already train?

Played around on Canva for about 15 minutes and made 8 mock-up title elements for my December mini. It's stupid easy and super quick. And it helps with the frustration of being restricted to the English language as a non-English native when relying on scrap products. I almost bought Liz Tamanaha's new December You're My Fave collection but I wanted a more custom and French language-based approach this year. Highly encourage anyone to give it a go using the free library. Here are a few super simple title elements using Canva:

Anyone else on the let-it-be-December-1st-already train? Heck yes. November is just so awful. Everything is grey, Our bodies (here in the Northern Hemisphere) haven't adjusted to the cold yet, and I have so much work to do that I can't play with paper. Whine.
