I decided that instead of knotting it, I would do wrapped chunks. I haven't a clue what you just said. Pearls are knotted with string between each one in a strand. I cut it all apart and used wire to make pieces with 3 crystal/beads that I then linked together to make a chain.

Nice to think of it being handed down like that.

muggins that bag is all kinds of adorable! I need to read back and comment on everyone else's beautiful makes, but I have to start work then have blood tests for the (last! YAY!) chemo tomorrow. I hope I'll have time later.

RedSquirrelUK - YAY for your last chemo! muggins - cute bag, love the lace awning and the hedgehog seaexplore - that zipper pouch looks super useful jeremysgirl - love that your cat likes to "help" too My mom and I finished our baskets yesterday and then spent the rest of the afternoon dying reed. We already have plans for our next two baskets! One from a pattern (see last photo below) and one we are going to make up using the curl technique from this latest basket and reed we just dyed in different shades of blue.

I've seen curls used as an embellishment - but never on the entire basket. It is a neat pattern! I should have taken a photo of my mom's basket - she made her curls bigger/looser so it has a different overall look. It's fun that two people can start from the same pattern and each turn out with a unique finished piece.

@redsquirreluk sending all the love today. Last day of chemo! That's something to celebrate!!!! jennifercw I love the look of the curled (?) reeds along the sides. It gives the basket so much dimension! No school for me today! Tomorrow I get a student teacher from now until Christmas. That should be interesting. He's not a fan of math and I teach ALL math (and one art). LOL. He plays in a death metal band (not sure the instrument) does martial arts and has done some stand up comedy and music mixing and such. He subbed at our school last year and we chatted a bit. One of the classes he subbed for are currently my 8th graders. Apparently they weren't very nice to him. We'll see how that work out. His credential will be in multiple subjects which will allow him to teach everything at the middle school level.

Still learning my new Capri long arm machine. I'm finally able to work with rulers. They were slipping and sliding some on this piece but I got the grippy things for the back and are working better on my latest project. Just a little art quilt play... More details at blog post: Art Quilt Play

Quick sun catchers for a past student who loved my eyeglass chain. The crystals came from Joann’s and they’re scratched and chipped. Can’t sell those! I need to get new crystals. The ones I have are fine for here. Grrrrr…

leftturnonly - It really is fun to be able to do this with my mom. She taught me how to weave years ago but when my kids were little I didn't have a lot of extra time to devote to the hobby. Now that DH and I are empty nesters I've definitely picked it up again and weaving has been fantastic pandemic therapy. I think I have shared this here before so sorry if it is a repeat... my mom also taught HER mom how to weave and when nana passed I inherited her basket tools. So that's cool too! mnmloveli - Thanks! I really enjoy sharing them so I'm glad people here seem to like seeing them! seaexplore - Dimension, extra texture, and some added strength as well - since it is essentially two layers of reed!

lisae umm, so did you sew that leaf on your quilt with your long arm machine? Holy cats, so many fun things to do with that trick.

lisae umm, so did you sew that leaf on your quilt with your long arm machine? Holy cats, so many fun things to do with that trick. Yes I stitched the leaf. I used a curved ruler for the outline and free handed the inside design. They sent various threads along with the machine. That was one of the specialty ones. It's gold polyester but not metallic so there is sheen without all the aggravation.

Here's my monthly shawl club shawl so far. Now that I'm four months away from done, I'm getting a little nervous that it isn't going to be nearly as long as I'd like it. I might give it to my mom for her birthday in January. I'm not sure I want to keep it for myself. Although I do enjoy the colors.

I think they were intended to be some kind of rug or something. But they work perfect for blocking.

jeremysgirl - it's really lovely, all woodsy and earthy. Have you enough yarn to make it bigger?

jeremysgirl - it's really lovely, all woodsy and earthy. Have you enough yarn to make it bigger? I still have four more months of yarn coming. I estimate when done it will be between 63-65 inches across. Which should be fine. But I am a love it big kind of shawl and wrap girl. It's really pretty though and I have absolutely enjoyed doing it. My mom's birthday is mid-January and I never know what to give her. She is literally the lady who has everything she wants. So I thought this might make a nice gift for her.
