Stuff has started arriving and I’ve heard all day “who is Carolyn? I don’t work with a Carolyn?? I wonder if my mom does.” Utter confusion! This is the BEST surprise in the entire world and I am soooooo excited because SO many things are arriving tomorrow and Wednesday, including some big ticket items!!! This is great! Can't wait to hear what she says over the next few days! |

I just ordered the "Greater Than / Less Than" tool because, to this day, I still can't tell the difference which is which! I taught fourth grade for 5 years, then quit. Part of the reason was because teaching wasn't a good fit for me- it was so hard to be all things to all kids all the time. I think the biggest reason was burnout, though. I could have worked 24/7/365 and STILL there would have been more work to do- more ways to differentiate- more contacts to make with students or parents- more to read and learn. I was never, ever, ever done. And every day I knew I failed. There was always one lesson that wasn't quite engaging enough, and one kid that I didn't differentiate for, and one bad behavior that I either paid too much or not enough attention to. I couldn't deal with knowing that no matter how hard I worked or how many hours I put in, I was going to fail at something... many things!... that day anyway. OMG it's been 20 years since I left the classroom and just writing this down has brought tears to my eyes. Anyway, I hope this young teacher has a better experience and an awesome year! If it helps, remember that Less than looks like an L turned just a bit < on its side. L, less than. We learned that it looks like an alligator mouth and it is eating the side that has more. 6<8 imagine teeth on the part that is open. So it is eating the 8. We learned that the smaller (lesser) number goes on the smaller side of the symbol. So 2 is less than (smaller than) 10, or 10 is more than 2, so you'd write either 2<10 or 10>2 to indicate that 10 is more, since it is near the larger side of the symbol. Once we got that down, then we switched over to remembering to use the proper words, less than and greater than instead of large & small. |

I just found an email saying that my package will now arrive Friday instead of Wednesday. At first that felt like a bummer to me, but I guess in reality it spreads the surprise out over a longer time.  |

She’s soooooo overwhelmed and still clueless and slightly paranoid because she thinks she did nothing wrong 😂
