"President Biden underwent his first physical as president on Friday, becoming the oldest commander in chief to receive a full medical evaluation while in office. He briefly transferred power to Vice President Kamala Harris while he underwent a colonoscopy. “As was the case when President George W. Bush had the same procedure in 2002 and 2007, and following the process set out in the Constitution, President Biden will transfer power to the vice president for the brief period of time when he is under anesthesia,” Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary said. “The vice president will work from her office in the West Wing during this time.” While the procedure was performed, Ms. Harris became the first woman to hold acting presidential powers, for roughly 85 minutes. Mr. Biden, who is 78, resumed his duties around 11:35 a.m., Ms. Psaki said in a tweet, and was “in good spirits” after the procedure.
Mr. Biden used Section 3 of the 25th Amendment to temporarily transfer power, the administration said. Under that provision, the president was required to notify Senator Patrick J. Leahy, Democrat of Vermont and the president pro tempore of the Senate, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi that he was temporarily unable to carry out his presidential duties. Those letters were transmitted to both at 10:10 a.m."
(oh, and the House passed BBB!)

It was fun while it lasted. I'm also thankful that Biden appears to be healthy, so there's that.

She's polling in historically low numbers (in the 20s) because she's NOT doing her job as vice president well, at all. I have no reason to believe THIS particular woman would do any better as the president.

I have reason to believe THIS particular woman might do better as the president. What are you basing that on? What are you basing yours on? Low poll numbers?
See how you constantly make assertions or state opinions (the latter in this case) w/o back-up, but when people disagree w/you you go right to "what are you basing that on?"
I have several reasons for my opinion, and would have shared them if you'd shared your reasoning - other than "low poll numbers" which has little correlation to her potential abilities as a president.

She's polling in historically low numbers (in the 20s) because she's NOT doing her job as vice president well, at all. I have no reason to believe THIS particular woman would do any better as the president. This particular woman could certainly do better than the previous one. Her poll numbers are low in part because she's a favorite target of Fox and Republicans. Biden's numbers are low at the moment as well. It's to be expected that hers will rise when President Biden's poll numbers hopefully rise. People are frustrated with supply problems, ongoing problems with Covid, the delays in passing the infrastructure and Build Back Better bills. Presumably, when inflation slows down or levels out, when Covid is less of a problem and when people start feeling the impact of the bills, their poll numbers will increase. Furthermore, VP Harris's poll numbers are not a predictor of how well she could do the job as president. The former president's poll numbers were better yet he did a terrible job. If you exclude Trump supporters from a poll, then perhaps you might have a better predictor of job performance for VP Harris. And what exactly is she not doing well as VP? She is supporting the president and promoting his agenda. Admittedly, the situation at the border could be improved. But, immigration and border issues are complicated and responsibility for them does not fall solely on one person or one president. eta - Here's some evidence for you. Just look at these 2 statements today. It's crystal clear to me which one is more qualified and which one would do a better job as president. The other one lacks a basic understanding of the legal system. Kamala Harris www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/11/19/rittenhouse-verdict-live-updates/Vice President Harris weighed in on the Rittenhouse verdict Friday, telling reporters that it illustrates the need for further progress on making the justice system more equitable. “The verdict really speaks for itself,” Harris said in her first public comments on the matter. “As many of you know, I’ve spent a majority of my career working to make the criminal justice system more equitable, and clearly there’s a lot more work to do.”www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/11/19/rittenhouse-verdict-live-updates/Former president Donald Trump congratulated Kyle Rittenhouse on Friday after the 18-year-old was found not guilty of killing two people last summer amid uprisings in response to police violence. “Congratulations to Kyle Rittenhouse for being found innocent of all charges,” Trump said in a statement. “It’s called being found not guilty — and by the way, if that’s not self-defense, nothing is!”

She had to be forced into going to the border and then when she did, she didn't even go to where the crisis was. Sure looks like not doing the job very well if you don't go where the actual crisis is. Avoiding the actual problem at every turn is not doing the job very well. According to CNN her office is a dysfunctional operation. That certainly speaks to not doing the job very well. She and Biden seem to be blaming each other for failures, that doesn't point to doing a good job. Open door policies for the border that she supports and policies that contribute to human trafficking is not REALLY doing a good job. She brags about being the the last one in the room for the colossal failure of pulling out of Afghanistan. We now know that Americans are still there. Still. Right now. Not really pointing to doing a good job.

When have Biden and Harris ever publicly criticized or blamed each other during his presidency? She is not solely responsible for problems at the border. Nor is this administration solely responsible. Every administration, including the Obama one kicked the can down the road and Congress has failed to pass any immigration laws. President Obama, to his credit, did create DACA but it was only intended as a temporary measure until Congress could pass the Dream Act or something similar. Many of the current problems are a direct result of the previous administration, including the cancelation of critical aid to Central American countries and a failure to plan for a surge of migrants in the spring. Going to the border does not solve the problem, it's just a photo op for Republicans. This administration and the VP are not solely responsible for Afghanistan. VP Harris was the last person in the room when the decision was made to withdraw from Afghanistan back in April. The decision was one they were forced into by the previous administration. Some of the Americans in Afghanistan are not ready to come to the US. The US Embassy is continuing to work on getting people out, they have not abandoned anyone.

Playing semantics again and ignoring the question. Show me where President Biden or VP Harris personally, not through their staff or aides, blamed each other for failures. You want me to prove something I didn't say. Fine. Show me where they blamed each other for failures. I can probably save you the trouble. Since you can't show me where they personally blamed each other, I'm going to assume you're referring to the CNN article. Squabbling among their staff might show that they're not perfect office managers, but I don't think translates to them not being qualified or not doing a good job. The chaos and problems in the White House during the former administration were well documented. I don't recall that you ever called him out for it so your criticism now rings false. Blaming Democrats and failing to call out Republicans for the same thing again. Double standards. Here are a few excerpts from this well written article. Guess who probably never read it? There are a lot of words, many with more than 2 syllables and just like he struggled to read the constitution, he would probably struggle with the article, too. When you acknowledge the many failures and horrors of his administration, maybe then we can have a real conversation. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/10/chaos-trump-white-house/616616/150 BOOKS SHOW HOW THE TRUMP ERA HAS WARPED OUR BRAINSCOVID-19 craziness. Toddler tantrums. Unnerved staffers. What the lunacy in the Trump White House reveals about the degradation of America’s democratic values.perhaps the most popular subgenre has been the Chaos Chronicles—those books that document the actions of the president and his aides, and reconstruct the major controversies of the Trump White House.Reading through the Chaos Chronicles, we learn that Trump and a White House staffer sat in the president’s study and compiled a list of enemies serving in his administration. We discover that Trump mused about building a moat with alligators at the southern border to fend off immigrants. (Yes, alligators. And yes, a moat.) We realize that senior aides steal sensitive documents off the president’s desk, hoping he will forget about them (which he does). We are told that multiple senior officials almost quit at the same time (but didn’t). We learn that Trump and the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong Un, exchanged letters so gushing that a reporter deemed them “almost romantic” in their prose. (“I’m the only one he smiles with,” Trump told Bob Woodward of his pen pal, in Rage.) And we watch as the president struggles to read portions of the Constitution out loud, stumbling over the words and complaining that they sound—metaphor alert!—like a foreign language to him.The president’s COVID-19 diagnosis and hospitalization last weekend are a perfect distillation of Trumpian chaos, packed with misinformation and contradiction, national-security risks and constitutional implications, and all with the man himself commanding every last speck of attention.
Yet White House chaos is not the full story, and it should certainly not be the main story. While well-sourced reports and insider memoirs provide a vital historical record, the books that tell us what the chaos means and why it matters are most needed, even if not always the most memorable. When the fire dies out and the fury subsides, what is the true American carnage wrought by and in the Trump White House? If these volumes are any indication, it is the decline of America’s preparedness for truly complex crises—ones that can’t be intimidated on Twitter, wished away as “fake news,” or redrawn with a Sharpie. It is the remaking, to lasting detriment, of the limits and powers of the American presidency, and the degrading of our expectations for—and devotion to—public service. And it is the erosion not of personal decorum or policy process, though there is plenty of that, but of the democratic values to which the country should aspire.
In Fear, the meeting is summed up in classic Woodwardian style, with a written summary by an unnamed official who spoke with people in attendance: “It seems clear that many of the president’s senior advisers, especially those in the national security realm, are extremely concerned with his erratic nature, his relative ignorance, his inability to learn, as well as what they consider his dangerous views.”
A year later, the same official published A Warning, a 259-page book promising to “cut through the noise” of this presidency and contending that Trump “still lacks the guiding principles needed to govern our nation.” The still is quite a tell. Anonymous informs us that Trump is “reckless” and his management style is “erratic.” As if we did not know. The president, we are told, suffers from “inattentiveness” and “intellectual laziness.” As if we did not know. Trump displays misogynistic behavior, embraces conspiracies, bullies his subordinates, abuses his power, disregards briefings, and equates criticism to treason. As if we did not know. Anonymous also concedes that the thesis of the original op-ed—that the alleged adults in the room could curb Trump’s worst instincts—had proved false. “Americans should not expect that his advisors can fix the situation,” Anonymous acknowledges. As if we ever did.
It may be the funniest of the Chaos Chronicles, but The Toddler in Chief also outlines the risks of having a president with childlike traits, such as poor impulse control, defiant ignorance, a short attention span, temper tantrums, and a constant need for more screen time. Opportunistic advisers exploit his emotions to their advantage. He doubles down on mistakes just to avoid admitting them. He makes major decisions—withdrawing forces from Syria, shutting down the government—largely on impulse. Officials briefing him on key issues are hesitant to present findings that contradict Trump’s off-the-cuff positions. The result is a president “operating the executive branch like a bumper car, without any sense of peril,” Drezner writes. “The driver is not getting any better at his job. He is just getting more confident that there is no risk to what he is doing.”

She was tasked with the border issue and wasn't even present during a major border security meeting recently. Seems like not doing the job very well. Specifically what meeting was it?I haven't heard anything else about it other than looking for root causes, so what did she find out? Where has she said what the plans are for what she found out? Not doing a good job. I’m curious, was there a due date to release her finds that she missed? She tried to lie about having been to the border, that's really not doing a very good job. She had to be forced into going to the border and then when she did, she didn't even go to where the crisis was. Sure looks like not doing the job very well if you don't go where the actual crisis is. Avoiding the actual problem at every turn is not doing the job very well. Just exactly how is going to the southern border for a photo op going to solve the complexity of the immigration problem facing this country? You think if she had stood at the banks of the Rio Grande and waved her hand across the water the problem would magically disappear?According to CNN her office is a dysfunctional operation. That certainly speaks to not doing the job very well. Oh well the news media is the so called experts on this stuff so they must be correct. Curious any specific examples or was it gossip from an unnamed source? She and Biden seem to be blaming each other for failures, that doesn't point to doing a good job. Specifics please.Open door policies for the border that she supports and policies that contribute to human trafficking is not REALLY doing a good job. What are you babbling about? What open door policies that she supports snd what policies does she support that contribute to sex trafficking? You do know that it’s Republicans pushing the lie that Democrats support open borders don’t you? She brags about being the the last one in the room for the colossal failure of pulling out of Afghanistan. We now know that Americans are still there. Still. Right now. Not really pointing to doing a good job. You do know the remaining Americans there are working to get their Afghan family members out don’t you? But before that happens these folks need to be interviewed/vetted by the State Department before they can be allowed into the United States. We don’t want to let any budding terrorist in. The Biden Administration inherited a backlog, I think of 17,000 of these interviews mainly because the trump administration had no intention of letting the Afghans into the country when he had planned to leave Afghanistan so they quit doing the interviews. I posted about it with the details on another thread. What you have done is basically is repeated the rights talking points in trying to throw doubt on her capabilities to do the job as President.

Absolutely. The number of uninsured Americans was cut in half. Preventative physicals are free to every patient. Patients with pre-existing conditions are now covered despite repeated attempts by Republicans to remove coverage. Young adults can now stay on their parents plan until the age of 26. Medicaid expansion helped a lot of lower income families. In my opinion, the benefits far outweigh the failures. www.americanprogress.org/article/10-ways-aca-improved-health-care-past-decade/www.politico.com/news/agenda/2020/01/27/obamacares-secret-success-103589If you want to talk about accomplishments, let's talk about former. What exactly did he do? Other than tax cuts for the wealthy? And ignore a global pandemic? The vaccine was developed under his administration, but that's the only accomplishment I can think of. Oh yes. He did play a lot of golf. In just 10 months, President Biden has done more than former did in 4 years. More deflection from the fact that you don't really have anything other than Republican talking points to back up your opinion that VP Harris would not do a good job as president.

I'm going to assume you're referring to the CNN article Don't assume. Read. According to CNN her office is a dysfunctional operation. That certainly speaks to not doing the job very well.

Aside from your opinion and assertion with zero evidence that's she's not doing well and low poll numbers, what evidence did you provide? Sorry, your opinion and a general statement is not evidence. I have no reason to believe THIS particular woman would do any better as the president. I have reason to believe THIS particular woman might do better as the president. I have several reasons for my opinion, and would have shared them if you'd shared your reasoning - other than "low poll numbers" Aside from your opinion and assertion with zero evidence that's she's not doing well and low poll numbers, what evidence did you provide? Sorry, your opinion and a general statement is not evidence. I know you're obsessed with evidence, but the conversation was about our reasoning not "evidence". Meaning—she’s got no evidence…just her opinion!!!
