I'm on the other side of MI, but man does this hit close to home.  I'm heartbroken for the families who lost their children, so sad for the children who will live with this trauma, and so mad this is yet another in a way too long line of school shootings. |

I saw that on the news. My aunt and uncle live a few miles away from the school. I am glad they have the suspect in custody. I can't imagine those poor parents losing a child.

I don't have any close friends or family in that area. However I do have some acquaintances who live/teach in that area. The ex husband of a friend from a support group is a teacher there. I hope for their children's sake that he is ok.

Yes, my 15 year old son is safe in Japan where people donāt carry guns. We moved here one year ago from an area 15 mins away from Oxford HS to escape gun violence and trump supporters. We used to go there for track tournaments a few times. My sonās old HS was in lockdown yesterday too. My FB feed is full of thoughts and prayers this morning. Because we all know nothing will change.
The US is fucked up.

As morbid as this is, officials need to be bombarded with these videos as I think all too often these news stories and stats remain abstract in their minds. I'm sure they mentally check off the number killed, identify whether shooter was brown or white and tweet out thoughts and prayers. Next! This is a Little Albert experiment in real life raising a generation rooted in fear. |

Iām about 30 min away and grew up close to there. I donāt know them directly but one of my friends is friends with two of the involved families - one of the injured students and one who didnāt make it. It is so sad. š¢

My ds and family live less than 15 minutes away, my dd and family are about 20 minutes and Iām about 40 minutes. Itās simply horrifying. My heart goes out to all of the families involved. I work at an elementary school and we completed ALICE training 4 years ago and havenāt practiced it since. Itās such a scary world we live in.

I feel horrible for the families Involved, as well as the other children in the building who have experienced that trauma and lost friends. It is is so frustrating that this keeps happening with no real response or change. Until more people value lives more than their right to own guns with no restrictions, nothing will change.

We live in a country where people think and act like they are in the Wild, Wild West and where we each have every (rightful) expectation that one day it could be us, or our children. I hate feeling like those ducks that circle around at a target range...bing, bing, bing...because one day, it will be us.
