Seriously hope the dumbass parents are charged. We own guns. All locked up. Our 21 and 22 year old daughters don’t have the code to the gun safe as they have not taken gun safety classes. It should never be this easy for a child to get your gun…..never mind the fact that he has behavior issues.

And how well did that work for her? Did Trump build the wall? No. Solve immigration? No. Did Trump make health care affordable? No. Did he shut down big pharma? No. But she probably voted for him again in 2020 because 1. She’s probably racist and 2. He supports her unrestricted right to bear arms. Maybe if she had voted for a Democrat, her son would not be sitting in jail, looking at a possible lifetime sentence. And 5 of his classmates might not be dead. I hope the father gets charged, too for buying the gun and allowing his son to have access. *4 dead Sorry, fixed it. I knew one additional student died, but I had the wrong number of students who died yesterday. |

The incident happened the week before. A number of kids told their parents they didn’t feel comfortable going to school because something might happen. He made a horrific post on IG the night before saying, “Now I become death, the destroyer of worlds. See you tomorrow, Oxford “ (I don’t know how to insert the image from my phone). I mean WTF. How did his parents not know? How did none of the 117 people following him see that? How did it not get reported to the school before the shootings?  So needless. The parents should absolutely being investigated and charged. |

From my friend (and from what was posted above) There was an incident before thanksgiving involving the shooter and other kids. There was a meeting on Monday with the school to discuss.

Holly, Brandon, Bloomfield Hills, Clarkston, Clawson, Troy, Rochester, Lake Orion, Warren Consolidated school districts all closed tomorrow because of copycat threats. Some threats have been deemed not credible, but schools closing anyways out of an abundance of caution. Holly and Clarkston closed the rest of the week.

I will say that when I first saw the list of charges, my first thought was that the killer was Black. For no reason other than the severity of the charges and that if it was a White killer, they would first take him to Burger King.

Yes, my 15 year old son is safe in Japan where people don’t carry guns. We moved here one year ago from an area 15 mins away from Oxford HS to escape gun violence and trump supporters. We used to go there for track tournaments a few times. My son’s old HS was in lockdown yesterday too. My FB feed is full of thoughts and prayers this morning. Because we all know nothing will change. Nothing will be done. Republicans and their right wing faction will say that this is a “fake video, these kids are actors, and no one got hurt or died.” They’ll scream, froth, and spittle out “NO ONE IS GOING TO TAKE AWAY MY GUNS!!! 2A, IT’S MY GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO GUNS” Just another normal day in the US. Nothing will be done because the republicans in congress are much worse than they ever have been in history. The GOP is too busy trying to ban abortion rights to be bothered with actual children dying. The Democrats seem to be too afraid of their own shadows to do anything about it so here we are. That’s not exactly fair on Democrats…they’re at least trying. Republicans are delaying, denying, obstructing. |

'Not my kid'
Short story .. I reported a kid to the school back way long ago. Behavior issues. Parent in, 'not my kid'.. twice... After HS, 'not my kid' was in prison for sexual assault, rape.
Too bad early behavior was not addressed.

White defendants have long been treated differently than black defendants. The original poster was pointing that out. Glad it DIDN'T happen here, but it has often in the past. Maybe this is a good sign of a change. That is worth discussing. |

This is literally less than 30 minutes from us. My son has spoken to his friends that were in the building, so very tragic.
My kids High School was threatened for today after we received many social media threats. So they closed our district down until Monday.
I am so sad for our kids

And today I get this long email from my child’s high school which in part says this… Recently, a safety concern was brought to our attention that involved threat-related behaviour... it goes on to say they’ve involved the police and so on…..ugh this sounds a lot like the red flags this Michigan high school had. Makes me really nervous to send my child to school now. Sure it’s way more rare in Canada but it has sadly happen here too. 😢 I hate that our kids have this stress and anxiety and fear and risk. I was never once scared to go to school.
