I watched the first two episodes last night. The first episode was cringy for me…everything felt awkward and forced but it started to hit its stride in the second episode. It was killing me that Carrie didn’t call 911 but I was glad she didn’t come home to find him dead. 😞 I didn’t like that Carrie was acting like a victim regarding the Samantha situation but loved that she sent the flowers to Big’s funeral. I don’t remember Miranda being so awkward from the original show. She couldn’t even articulate that Samantha moved and is working in England without tripping on her words. The whole Brady thing is ridiculous…making out at the recital, the sex scene. 🙄 I love that Rose isn’t girly and wore the tuxedo shirt to the recital 😁
I love their friendships. How Miranda just ran to Carrie’s. I didn’t expect any different and it’s the show I loved back in the day. I’m ready for he next episodes.

The one I found awkward to watch was Charlotte...... I could not take my eyes off her mouth. She is so lovely, I wish she didn't have any work done to her face. It was so distracting to me. That's how I feel about Miranda and her brown teeth! WHY can't she get her teeth bleached or something? It grosses me out.

I have really mixed feelings. I had a feeling they would kill Big off, and I thinks it’s a very realistic storyline, but at the same time it really pisses me off that they spent 6 seasons to get them together, a movie to have them separated for 80% of it, another movie where she essentially cheated on him but then reaffirmed their love, just to kill him off. The whole point of the show was for her to find her happily ever after.
And I get that they didn’t have her calling 911 so she could hold him and she was panicking (and in reality there was no saving him), but the nurse in me was pretty pissed off she didn’t call 911 or start CPR or anything.
And then Charlotte plastic-face spent the whole 2nd episode making Big’s death about her. Ugh I would have smacked her.
I totally think they’re setting up Miranda to be an alcoholic. And I wish they didn’t have Steve souls like such a bumbling idiot. He’s always been the sweetest.
I can’t imagine how they’re going to write out Stannie, I don’t think I could handle him being killed off as well but how else would he ever leave her? I think we will know next episode because Willie only filmed 3 before he passed.
Overall I’m glad it’s back but like others said I certainly don’t want to watch 8 episodes of Carrie grieving. I was really looking forward to another lighthearted fun season sprinkled with drama!

OK that's the strangest AD! I wonder if they always planned to do that, or if the paid him mega $$$ to do it after their stock dropped post episode?

I'll be honest, I don't understand what happened btwn them, can anyone recap? I just saw an article that had a recap, so I'll post it here... Even if you aren't "friends" if someone offers you condolences on the death of a family member, either post a polite thank-you, or say nothing at all, I think her comments were unnecessarily rude. Usually one one person speaks out then the others crawl out of the woodwork (Ellen / Lea Michele) but in this instance everyone seems support SJP over Cattrall,

I was so happy to see him in that ad, as I am still recovering from the shock of that episode. I found this article about the ad. I didn't realize it was the same instructor that was on the show. And Ryan Reynolds narrated and produced the ad!

I looked for an article and saw the IG post where she basically told SJP that her condolences weren't wanted but it seemed the feud started before that. It seems that she never really bonded with the other 3 and was annoyed about the money. I hate to hear that. Kind if takes away a bit of the magic of the 4 friends, esp bc Samantha was super supportive of Carrie. I guess they were good actresses!

I’ll keep watching, but I thought it could have been better.
The two characters who made me bonkers were Steve and Brady. Steve appears to have prepared for his part by watching Tim Conway play the old man on Carol Burnett reruns. It’s like he is a completely different character. He has aged naturally since the series ended so I don’t know why he is working so hard to play an older Steve. That old man voice, not being able to hear a thing even with hearing aids and that weird look on his face are driving me crazy.
As others have said, horny Brady is making me nuts as well. He is like a Saturday Night Live parady of a sex charged teenager. Real teens don’t make out at piano concerts or have loud banging sex when their parents are next door.
One of the things I liked was when the mean friend said at the funeral something like “Am I the only one who remembers how awful he treated Carrie?” I don’t know if I can ever forgive Big for leaving her at the altar, even if Carrie can. Big was so selfish and egotistical at times, as was Carrie, I just can’t believe they had the perfect marriage for all those years. I would have expected them to have had a very passionate up and down relationship.I hope maybe they go into that at some point.

I knew Big was going to die because Chris Noth said he didn't want to do the show. You can see the set up for her new love interest at the Podcast.
I hated Miranda's storyline with the professor. Just made me cringe. Not funny. Definitely going to be an alcoholic. Might also throw in a gay storyline.
I agree with Charlotte's face work. She is so beautiful. Her mouth looks like the Joker's. I can't stand how she treats Rose.
I don't care how much of a modern parent you are. The Brady story is way over the top. No way would I allow my 17 year old son have sex with his girlfriend in my house!
I hate that it feels like they just took the women out of 2008 and plopped them into the future. They are clueless about so many things. It is not realistic.
I really want it to be better, but I am not holding out hope at this point.

I agree that a lot of parents wouldn't. I work with someone who married and had her kids young - 2 boys now 18 & 20 and they both have their girlfriends over all the time and are in their rooms with the door closed "watching Netflix & chilling". She knows full well what is going on, and there's half dressed teen girls in her kitchen in the mornings. I asked her if the girls mothers' knew where they were/what they are doing and she said that both girls mother's were letting her boys sleep over first. During covid lockdown her then 17yo went to live at the girlfriends house for 2 weeks when they had to isolate. It was an eye opener for me! Obviously it's exaggerated for the show to try to be funny, but overall I don't think it's that unrealistic anymore.

I don’t even consider myself all that “modern,” just realistic... If your 17yo son is having sex with his girlfriend, it’s probably happening in your house whether you realize it or not. My son’s girlfriend was just like any other friend… no sleepovers on a school night, but weekends were fine.

Did anyone watch Life in Pieces? The actor who plays Brady plays almost the same character on that show. It’s pretty over the top and not representative of the teenage boys I know.

And it annoyed me when he couldn't hear the phone ring that was right beside him, but apparently heard Carrie speaking on it clearly enough to know the call was for Miranda.

Maybe, I'm just a boomer. I know it is shocking, but not everyone has sex in high school. I would also be embarrassed if i was a teen and my parents knew and condoned me having sex in their house.

They overplayed his hearing problem, but I have been wearing hearing aids since I was in my early 40s because I lost most of the hearing in one of my ears so it isn't always an age thing.

I liked the 3rd episode. I assume part of agreeing to come back...Nixon wanted some storylines that reflect her life experiences of coming out as an adult and having a transgender child. I liked the Rose storyline and how Anthony responded. I was wondering if we'd see Natasha, and I thought that we saw old Carrie back again in those scenes, and the acknowledgement that her relationship with Big was far from perfect, but that they did eventually end up being happy. At the end of this episode I wanted to watch more.

What did everyone think of episode 4? I have to say this one didn’t keep my attention as much as the first 3.
Also do you think this is how they are writing Stanford off, having him follow some TikTok teenager in Asia??? I noticed this episode was dedicated to him. 💔

I actually liked this episode more than the others. I understand they couldn't have both men in Carrie's life die and it would have been incredibly emotional for it to be Stanford but I thought they could have done better

I did think they might have Stanford do a runner - based on how they portrayed his marriage to Anthony (always arguing, staying in Carrie's apartment etc.) so I wasn't surprised...and under the circumstances I like it. This way they can keep him alive in the show, they can talk to him on the phone, mention what he's doing etc and he doesn't have to be gone. I hope there was some discussion with Garson and they took into account what he wanted.
