dawnnikol I don't think Paper Person is for me. It seems to be missing the details. Die cuts, stickers, that sort of thing. But with that said, how do you shop your stash? Do you tend to more theme products? I am thinking that's part of my problem. With project life I feel like there's so much every day sort of photos that themes just don't seem to work for me anymore. With that said, they absolutely did when my children were younger. I quit my subs because I was still often using my paper+ stamps For PL here’s how I shop my stash: *First I layout my pictures & slip them into the pockets they will go in. *Not all of my pictures fill the whole pocket so I first shop my stash for backgrounds. Either by color or theme if there is one. Sometimes it’s a card and sometimes I’ll cut up a sheet of paper for that specific look I’m going for ( thank you Shimelle for getting me over my issues cutting 12x12 to use just a piece it was quite freeing. ) *after the backgrounds are picked then I go find journaling cards for the things I want to write ( another reason kits weren’t doing it for me is that journal card left little room for journaling, specifically SC ) *Then last I do embellishments but color usually die cuts tend to be my favorite because I can just cut them in whatever color I want. Stamps as well. Then maybe enamel dots, puffy hearts. Dated label stickers. So I store most stuff by color. As for recipe scrapping - someone once gave me a book for that and it was all 4x6 horizontal pockets, but the horizontal layout just didn’t work for me. Yes I know recipes are traditionally layed out on a horizontal card but I’m weird I guess. I’m a list person for recipes so I do it vertically. Once I realized that- Bam - what a game changer. So for recipes I usually do 2 4x6 vertical pockets one with the list of ingredients and the steps at the bottom the 2nd with a square picture of the dish and the rest of the directions or my personal notes at the bottom. I found a lot of uses for Kerri Bradford ‘blocks of time’ & ‘year round’ stamps in both PL & my planner. I am so happy with how much use I’ve gotten from them. I like her stamps as a whole. If she does another time/date series I will probably buy it.

Thank you burnbright. Unfortunately I got rid of my Scan and Cut because I never used the damn thing. It was driving me insane that I was wasting it. So I sold it. I'm just old school, I guess. One can always go really old school ( I mean 80’s old school ) with the Alvin lettering guide ALVIN AL666 Lettering Guide and Rule Template, Multipurpose Tool for Drafting, Design, and Architecture, Great for Students and Professionals - 3.88 L X 2.38 H www.amazon.com/dp/B001DNAHRO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_D65WN8EKNVXJJMTC4YJNI’m pretty sure mine did not cost me $8 way back when though

And is there a brand of TRUE 4x6 and 3x4 pocket pages? Because mine from Scrapbook.com (their brand) are bigger than both. Quite annoying. In my experience, the smallest pockets were from Becky Higgins but I'm not crazy about the plastic quality (or the seams). The disadvantage is that as soon as you add some embellishments, even quite flat, they become too tight. I've literally had to recut cards or photos when I used the BH PL PPs because I added vellum with my Tiny Attacher and then some alpha stickers and a tiny wood veneer heart. Except not all 4 of the 3x4 pockets on BH PL page protectors are actually 3 wide. There is always 1 ( or is it 2 ? ) that are a hair less than 3” and it drives me batty

There is always 1 ( or is it 2 ? ) that are a hair less than 3” and it drives me batty I'm pretty sure it's just one pocket that is smaller than 3" wide. I've been working through my old page protectors which included a bunch of these and I'm sure I only had to cut one card down consistently to get them all to fit.

I'm patiently (not really) waiting for the end of the biathlon events at the Winter Olympics to place my first print order of the year. I'll finally be able to fill in pockets with photos in 10 or so days, woohoo! Until then, I'm diving back into my ever-slimming pile of cards to work on some more for a couple of stories. I think I'm sticking with my story sandwiches in that left-over 6x8 album this year. Can't believe I'm being reasonable but here we are. Something-something about maturity. My current stories waiting to be told: birthday weekend, favourite moments at the Olympics, DIY afternoon at my mother's place, groceries (took a photo of the exterior of the supermarket last time I went!) + what we eat these days, Chandeleur/secular Candlemass which is huge in France for eating crêpes. Off I go trying to find PL cards that will work for these stories... Anyone got stories waiting to be documented? What are you working on right now in your PL album?

What are you working on right now in your PL album? I still have October 2021 to do. And then I can get started on January. I took a trip to Disney in January so I look forward to scrapbooking that. I just placed an order at scrapbook.com for some more supplies, one of which is a theme park stamp. For the Disney trip, I'm going to make my own cards. I also have some ephemera to include. I have a friend I don't see often who is coming this Saturday to my house so we can crop together. I'm looking forward to that. At this point, I only have a few friends left who scrapbook and it seems like there's never any big crops anymore.

Anyone got stories waiting to be documented? What are you working on right now in your PL album? Just got my order of prints to cover Jan 22-28. I placed the order for Jan 29-Feb 4, which will include all the CV+ tests in our house. As I'm the last one to get over symptoms, I'll round out Feb 5-11 with my own CV story + the usual stuff around here. I blame the fact that I was reorganizing stuff after completing DD and found some PP CV stuff that had gotten misplaced and thought "dang it, I didn't use it". Well... way to jinx it. I took a trip to Disney in January so I look forward to scrapbooking that. I just placed an order at scrapbook.com for some more supplies, one of which is a theme park stamp. Oh no, dawnnikol! I'm sorry to hear you're still having some of the nasty 'Vid symptoms. You close to being ok now? Yep, totally jinxed it by unearthing the PP pandemic stuff... Your body was like: "lower the defenses, we have scrapbook supplies to use up!" I hope your little family will be completely back to normal real soon. I know nobody IRL who scraps so the Peas are my people but I can imagine it'd be super fun to just sit down with snacks, supplies and a nice cup of tea with a friend and do nothing but create.

Your body was like: "lower the defenses, we have scrapbook supplies to use up!" I hope your little family will be completely back to normal real soon. I can't complain too much as I got the others through the worst of their symptoms and then it hit me. I've actually gone through the symptoms faster than 3 of them, so should be in the home stretch and be done by the next documenting week. Thanks for the well wishes though. We were very disheartened to learn we were + after having been careful for 2 freaking years. The positive side (hah) was that it helped some of those worries and fears after having mild (compared to a lot of folks) symptoms and it not turning into something nightmareish. Vaccines for the win! And, while the PP stuff is definitely to blame, I still picked up the Together Apart kit by Andrea Bethke since rainbows + PP documenting seemed pretty damn cheerful after the time we'd had. Don't think I didn't add some Disney love into that order, too, just to sweeten it up. My 10 year old was helping me shop, so I possibly ended up with a few more things that I would've purchased solo. >.<

Anyone got stories waiting to be documented? What are you working on right now in your PL album? I'm slowly working on January. I'm struggling though. I'm working with a lot of my stash and things are just not coming together very easily right now. It'll get done eventually!

It's a horrible feeling when you just can't get your creativity in the groove. Hopefully it will be one of those instances where you look back later and are surprised at how awesome your page making skills are.

Here is the title page for my dd's album. Aww, I have such a soft spot for that Heidi Swapp paper. Love how you've created that stacked timeline effect for the years documented! Your kiddos are going to love having a recap album of their pandemic years. Not the best of years but we've all been doing our very best to get through them and those are the memories that matter. My husband and I are taking bets as to when we're going to get it since so many of our family and friends are getting it. Glad you all are recovered/on the road to recovery. We've settled on the classic Road to El Dorado gif. It's coming for us and considering our work/lifestyle patterns, we'll go down at pretty much the same time when it does occur. I'm slowly working on January. I'm struggling though. I'm working with a lot of my stash and things are just not coming together very easily right now. It'll get done eventually! Ouch, elljay ! Wishing you some clarity soon. It sucks when you're stuck creatively but as Chinagirl828 put it, it's always a pleasure to look back on your completed spreads and albums. I always tell myself that I can redo a card or shuffle stuff around if it bothers me later on. Generally, though, as time passes, my mind eases and embraces the work I've done. PL is really marathon you come to enjoy the efforts of months/years later. Hang in there!

Hey everyone, I haven't had much time to work on my PL yet this year but I did manage a couple of hours today to work on my title page. I am using the AE Begin story kit and so far it is coming out pretty nice. I will be using the digital SBTM kits plus stuff from my stash this year and I am excited to use up cards and embellishments that I've been hoarding for years. The first few months of the year are usually a bit of a grey blur for me but I have been making an effort to do things and go places instead of caving in to my desire to just hibernate until May. Luckily the weather here has been amazing and so that helps to lift my spirits. Although I sometimes get a little envious of all the pictures of snow my US friends are sharing, I have to say that the mild temperatures and the glorious sunshine we've have this winter have been great. What kind of things have you included in your PL for January and February? Some of mine: the weather, wordle, visits to local places of interest, shows I'm watching such as: After Life, And Just like That, The Guilded Age, my DD having Covid, Valentine's day (still no plans for this), the facelift we gave our bedroom...

Through the chaos of my day, I got a little time to finish up my DITL for January. I mainly used the Echo Park DITL pack, but I did add in things from my stash too. It's not quite what I started out thinking it was going to look like, but I"m pretty happy. I may add tabs to the flaps or to the insert as a whole. Although I sometimes get a little envious of all the pictures of snow my US friends are sharing, I have to say that the mild temperatures and the glorious sunshine we've have this winter have been great. This US resident is loving the 80 degree weather we've been having the past few days (I'm in San Francisco Bay Area) although the horrific drought (since it's not raining now) we're going to have this summer and fall won't be great.

Friday check-in! I'm happy to report that my pages finally started to come together and I am almost done with January.
I went ahead and printed some February photos this week but not a lot going on there other than that.

I've printed out all my Jan photos and will drop them into page protectors this weekend, so I've finally made some progress on 2022!
I'm still making good progress on 2021, I've got fewer than 20 pages to complete, and almost all the photos are printed and in page protectors along with some cards/embellishments I know I want to use. And I've got roughly 6 months of photos into the album for 2010 and a reasonable number of pages already completed.

I am up to date on my project life- but I don’t have any other projects I’m doing so all my craftiness can be focused on PL 😂 I’ve also included wordle- it’s fun because I got dh and adult dds into it and we share our wordles everyday. I’ve also include dd1&3’s trip to Hawaii together, progress on our building project, Valentine’s Day, date nights and day trips for dh & me, family game tournament, and just everyday stuff like dinner menu and the dogs being cute.

What kind of things have you included in your PL for January and February? Our house getting CV + the quarantine that ensued, including family dropping off meds and a few InstaCart deliveries. The fact that my kids have had one full week of school since getting back after Christmas, between snow days and CV shutting down our district. I'm back to photographing my books that I'm reading (now that I'm back in a groove) and writing up a quickie review. Wordle here, too! My DD (10) got the Wordle in 2 the other day and you'd have thought we won the lottery. TV that the kids are into or DH and I are watching - like "Reacher" and "Peacemaker". The crazy weather around here. We were outside biking and roller skating M-W and then snowed in Thursday & Friday. Then regular school stuff added in the mix, these last few weeks have been very full which is not the "norm" around this time of year. Debating on a DITL in March, but we'll see..

I'm currently about a week "behind" as I do PL weekly. I opted to print photos at home I stead of ordering prints and it definitely goes quicker that way. Too expensive for the entire year but right now I wanted the boost to starting my project. I noticed a big drop off in photo taking some weeks so I'm going to have make more of an effort or perhaps have my kids send me photos that they take.

I finished my 2021 PL last weekend. And I e made it so far this year to print out my Disney trip pics from January. I don't have much else. Apparently hunkering down for winter means less photos. Ha!
But I've got my OLW set to go this weekend and I am pretty excited about that.

I finally started - eh, tried to start? - my PL for ‘22 and I’m having such a hard time getting any sort of momentum. I switched to 9x12 and the difference in page protector layout is throwing me. And the scale suddenly seems so off.
I was not expecting this! I’m sticking with this size, but I’m so puzzled by how challenging this has been. Everything looks “off”.

Apparently hunkering down for winter means less photos. Ha! Usually winter means less photos for me, too, because the lack of light. I'm a natural light photographer, so it doesn't make me want to pull out my camera when the light is so horrible, not to mention my mood. I finally started - eh, tried to start? - my PL for ‘22 and I’m having such a hard time getting any sort of momentum. I switched to 9x12 and the difference in page protector layout is throwing me. I remember doing a 3x8 album for a vacation, but I had to remind myself when I was taking photos during that trip that I was doing a funky size (for me). It was definitely a struggle, so I hope it clicks for you sooner rather than later. It is frustrating for sure.

I finally got a little undistracted time and started my 2022 PL album! So excited for that! I do my weeks Sunday-Saturday, so my first page is a Title page/Jan 1 and then week one is complete. I'm hoping to still get some more done since my house is quiet!

It looks like my mini Studio Calico order with 2 DK card sets will be arriving on Monday, yay! Finally some much-needed new cards to play with.
Taking my PL back to 6x8 but allowing myself to have a full wide spine album for the year has been a lot of fun, much to my surprise. I'm trying to use up the 2 4x6 PPs so I think I'll be doing quite a few cut up 6x8 prints as well this year. I'm reminded of the great PL album series Stephanie Bryan had for Studio Calico (she did a different one every month).
7 years old but still inspires me:
