It looks like my mini Studio Calico order with 2 DK card sets will be arriving on Monday, yay! Finally some much-needed new cards to play with. Taking my PL back to 6x8 but allowing myself to have a full wide spine album for the year has been a lot of fun, much to my surprise. I'm trying to use up the 2 4x6 PPs so I think I'll be doing quite a few cut up 6x8 prints as well this year. I'm reminded of the great PL album series Stephanie Bryan had for Studio Calico (she did a different one every month). 7 years old but still inspires me: I loved that video series too, but I couldn't imagine having 12 albums per year for project life... that just isn't sustainable. I do love the style though, I am a huge mini book fan.

Okay so I have inserts that have 4 4x6 pockets. The 6 is height and 4 is width.
Do they make inserts that are 4x6 with 6 being the width and 4 being height? Even if just 3 pockets?

And another question...
Is the Fuse Tool worth it? Can I really make my own pocket pages from say a 9x12 single pocket page?
How easy is it to learn?
I'd love to make a few shaker pockets here and there for fun.

Just cut down a 4x6 pockets only 12x12 to 6x12 and voilà, instant insert. The days of finding all kinds of 6-8x12 inserts are gone. Circa 2015, the page protector game was wild and you'd find pretty much anything including 3 stacked 4x6 pockets.

It is not hard to learn. You need patience (let that tool heat up a LOOOONG time, like at least 20 minutes but more like 30), a good mat (I use and recommend the Fuse Tool Mat with Holster although I don't care at all for the holster part) and a metal ruler you're comfortable with. I think it's an ok investment but would recommend getting it on sale. If it's on your country's Amazon website, don't hesitate to set a price alert through CamelCamelCamel.

I still go back to that video series too.

I have hand stitched some pockets closed and really like the look I have a fuse tool and do like it although I have had some seams pull apart..so I had to go back over and it doesn't look as clean. It bothers me in the moment but not after I flip back through the book later on. Like sleepingbooty said, let it heat up for a long time.

I've been meaning to post on this thread for weeks. I haven't done Project Life since 2016, but I'm just feeling it this year, so here I am!!! LOL!
1. Got plans for next year's PL? Yes! I'm excited to be documenting my year. 2. Format? 9x12 Studio Calico album. My plan is loosely to do weekly spreads. 3. Products (new and old)? a mix 4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? I've never used a 9x12 before. I was a 12x12 scrapper years ago, but I think this size will be a good fit for me.
I work 5 days/week, plus I'm in school part-time. What free time I do have I spend with my boyfriend, so I have a feeling I will be running behind most of the time. It's 21 February and all I've accomplished is the title page, so yeah. Haha!

It's 21 February and all I've accomplished is the title page But you've done that! You started, which is great! I understand the schedule - I work about 60 hours a week, plus take care of a home, a yard, etc. Don't worry about being "caught up" - do what you can, when you can. You've got this

SnoopyFan I am also doing PL this year after not doing since 2014 - I did 31 weeks that year and fell off. 😂 Going strong this year, though.

Y'all are making me feel better, so thank you! I have a test to study for, but I'm hoping to carve out a little bit of time tonight to get a page done.

I finally did take my own advice and ordered my album today. Some page protectors too. And well...I managed to sneak in another distress oxide ink and spray too. I've been sneaking a new one into each order.

I've been sneaking a new one into each order. Yay! I made two orders of two distress oxides yesterday with ACOT with the free shipping. What is the spray for? Just like the ink but spraying cardstock or other elements? Trying to see if I need this, too. Lol

Also that begin chipboard? I sprayed that too. I imagine you could spray any chipboard and I thought it might be fun to spray chipboard pieces I don't like in their current form and then stamp on them. ETA: I really have no idea about how awesome the products really are or what they can do. I'm just playing around.

I had an awful day at work. After work I went to have some pictures printed and the machine wasn't working, so that was annoying. I came home and took a test for one of my college classes and bombed it. (We have a test every week and my overall grade is great, so it's not a big deal, but it's just a crappy ending to a bad day.) I am taking a deep breath and letting it all go. Here's my title page for my PL2022 album. A lot of CTMH mixed with other random stuff. I am happy with how it turned out.

SnoopyFan sorry about your tough day. Glad you could shake it off with some “you” crafty relaxing time. Your title page turned out great! Thanks! I actually made my title page last week. I just hadn't gotten a chance to post it here yet. Someone up thread (I can't remember who) mentioned that they planned to use specific elements on each layout and I loved that idea, so I plan to do the same. On every PL spread I plan to use rubber stamps, word strips, and stickers or chipboard. I have so many supplies! This is a great way to actually put them to good use.

SnoopyFan - sorry your day was rough yesterday! Here's hoping the rest of the week is better! I still have only 1 layout for January done but am still caught up on printing my photos so when I take time to do PL, I have half the battle done.

Here's a question for you. If you have ephemera that is bigger than a 4x6 pocket, do you do a traditional scrapbook page to add to your PL? And if you do, do you still maintain the pocket page "look" or do you venture off and do your own thing? Just curious.

Depending what it is and what I have a ready scrapped I will just slide it in and be done.

Those are really interesting. In my case, though, I really think I want to display the ephemera, not just tuck it in. But I can definitely see how these would be handy and I had no idea something like this existed. Thanks for sharing.

If it's just some ephemera I try to insert a small page protector into my album (6x8 or 5x7...I have some old ones hoarded from BH). I don't bother to try and maintain the pocket page look, but that said, I have regular layouts mixed in my album as well, so anything goes for me.

I was watching a video by Steph Grimes on YouTube and she is calling her PL albums "yearbooks" because she said something about not following Becky Higgins' approach. I like getting away from calling them PL albums because while I appreciate that BH made these types of albums popular and contributed to the "everyday life" documenting, I don't want to keep acknowledging her style when I don't really totally follow it either (and the fact that I'm not a fan of BH either). That being said, PL is so easy to search on social media that it's hard to get away from. Anyway, I just thought it was an interesting take by Steph and also I like her approach to how she's going to document her year.
