. I haven't canceled my SC subscription but I think I am ready to. I don't know why its so hard to cancel. But with all the shipping issues, I am just tired of it all. Same boat here. I’ve subscribed forever. I need to drop it. I have enough stuff and I’m tired of the repetitiveness. 1. Got plans for next year's PL? - still planning to do. Most likely 9x12 again. 2. Format? - Monthly. 3. Products (new and old)?- Elles studio subscription and my stash. 4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? - not yet. But I need to rethink how I take pictures and print them to try and incorporate different sizes.

1. Got plans for next year's PL? I am super excited to get started. As 2021 rolled on, I found I was taking fewer and fewer photos, so I want to really get in the habit of taking more photos.
2. Format? I'm going to continue on with a 12x12 album. I've been doing a monthly spread with whatever page protector works (will be including some 9x12 page protectors), and then filling in with any 12x12 layouts that I want to make with photos from the month.
3. Products (new and old)? For 2021 I bought a bunch of Simple Stories "Hello Today" thinking I would do both layouts and PL with it. I never did make any layouts with it, so I still have a bunch left. There is nothing out right now that I like better, so in the interests of stash reduction I am going to continue to use it for my PL. In 2021 I added some stash to the "kit" and once I finish off this year I will do a refresh of the kit adding in some more PL cards from my stash, and any other papers or paper pads that I think will go well.
4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? I need to print photos more regularly. I am debating between buying a photo printer or diarizing sending my photos to print on the last day of every month. And again, I need to take more photos regularly. ETA: I also want to make a point of using my stamps more. I have so many cute stamps that I think would add to the look of my spreads. I need to pull them together in a basket so that they are at hand when I sit down to create.

STRUGGLING. I'm parting ways with Studio Calico (after YEARS of subscribing). I had decided to switch to FYC and well that's not going to happen. NO idea what I will do. Oh no, FYC closing must be extra hard for you! Do you have your eye on any subscription kits? January could be a good month to buy one kit to test it out. Then trying out another in February. And so on until you feel confident about which subscription to sign up for with a longer commitment. I'm doing another project life album next year. I still have Sept-Dec to finish up for this year. But I'm leading a challenge team for first quarter so I'm really going to put some effort in. I thought I did pretty good keeping up this year until work really went haywire for me. I feel you. Work can be such a scrapbook party pooper! Life and time just slips out of your hands as you try to navigate the storms that just keep coming. Wishing you a lovely time finishing your 2021 PL when you can finally get to it! I’m moving to 9x12. I have done monthly for a few years, but I think I’m going to go for “monthly lite”. 😄 I never do shorter term projects like DITL or WITL or DD because there’s too much overlap. I’m really craving those other projects, so PL will become more cursory, I think. Sounds like a great plan. PL doesn't have to contain every little thing. Will you be adding DITL/WITL to your PL or creating separate albums? So 2022 is the year of me, as I'm telling my family. I've spent the past year staying with my son every weekend, helping him clean out the house he inherited from his father, and working with contractors to do basic tasks like getting a new roof, taking down trees, repairs, repainting, etc. In the process, I've neglected my house. I think by the end of this year, the big stuff will be cleaned out, and I will only come over to work on occasion...so this year, I am focusing on getting my house back where it needs to be. Hence, this is the year of me. Congrats on taking back control of your life and carving out some time to focus on yourself and your home! It'll be nice to document that journey and validate your desire to scrap. Sending you good vibes for sorting out your house. Apartment Therapy does a January Cure challenge for the home that you can sign up for free if you're interested. ( Here are last year's daily prompts if you want to check it out.) Instead of waiting to print pictures out "when I have time" (which translates to never because I fritter away my time if I don't have a schedule) I'm going to print them out weekly, every Monday A woman with a plan! We stan a good PL resolution. 'm planning to use the leftovers of the Becky Higgins kits I've been using the past couple years. I bought several for super cheap at Tuesday morning and split them with a friend. And I still have a bunch left over! Lol Oh my, this gave me flashbacks. Those core kits felt like they would never get used up... (I ended up using so many cards to jot down grocery and to-do lists, hehe.) I've spent the last two years working through my ridiculously large stash of various pocket pages and plan to keep using those up. Going forward I'm only going to buy the formats I find the easiest/most flexible for the way I scrap, but want to clear all the other designs out of my stash first. Congrats! I shudder at the thought of page protectors in landfills so extra kudos for working through your stash instead of getting rid of them. I hope you'll soon get to the bottom of it so you can start enjoying your favourite designs again. I saw those in the coming soon section and clearly promptly forgot. I can't believe we haven't discussed them here (as far as I've seen). I'm definitely a textural person so if I bought any of those they'd probably be bald from being petted so much They totally look like an album worth changing your plans for. Bwahaha, bald albums! Like you, I'm a big fan of texture. I'd probably have mine purring in my lap from all the petting... Can't wait to see and feel how they are IRL. But I'm still scarred from the OG SB.com 9x12 saga. Those albums kept being delayed. And delayed. And delayed. And delayed. I thought we'd never see them! *sends out good vibes for speedy velvet deliveries* I'm actually hoping to work on 2 PL albums at the same time. I want to go back and create a album for 2019. I didn't start PL till 2020, but my son was born in 2019. I'd love to have albums for every year of his life. Aww, that's actually very touching and such a wonderful idea. You can do this! It's going to be a busy PL year but I'll be cheering for you.

1. Got plans for next year's PL? Yes, I have found that I am more productive with Project life so I will be back at again for a second year.
2. Format? 12x12 mostly. I often chuck in different sized pocket pages or cut down 12x12 ones to add in extra photos for the month.
3. Products (new and old)? I will be sticking with what I have on hand for consumables. I have so so many different branded and configured page protectors and more than enough project life cards on top of an over flowing amount of stash so I will just stick with what I have. I am however toying with the idea of buying a home printer, I have the selphy which was game changing for me in regards to project life but I would love to be able to print photos larger than 4x6.
4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? I am going to do weekly layouts rather than monthly. Currently I have been keeping my project life to mostly two facing pages a month however some months I go waaay over and have to add in a page and I feel like there is a lot of little things that are getting the cut. Weekly might also make it easier for me to keep on top of some kind of schedule than what I have currently been doing.

1. Plans for PL: Yes! I’ve almost completed last year and am doing it again for 2022.
2. Format? Using a classic size happy planner again. It’s kind of a hybrid memory planner/ weekly project life.
3. Products (new and old)? Got my new happy planner purchased. I haven’t bought anything else and don’t plan to. I have SO much product from all the years I scrapped (and then held on it for all the years I didn’t scrap). Im good. 😂. I do use a lot of project life cards I have along with some alphabet stamps, other letters things I have, Washington tape, and random elements.
4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? Nope. I liked what I did and actually stuck with it all year so that is the sign to me that I’m on the right track for something that is working for me.

Thank you so much for starting this thread! It's given me the kick in the pants to make decisions. That's half of my battle. Loved reading everyone's intentions. 1. Got plans for next year's PL? Now I do thanks to you all! 2. Format? 9x12. I'm committing myself to use this size. And that velvet album is going to be mine! I have an album to use in case it does stay OOS for years like the initial 9x12 albums. 3. Products (new and old)? Yes to both. I have enough stuff to produce about 5 yearly PL albums. But I can't resist the new stuff so it'll be both. 4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? Um, actually do it. I tried and fizzled out so many times this year. I'd like to set aside a few hours each Sunday to work on it.

1. Got plans for next year's PL? I'm tentatively planning on it again. This year was my first doing it exclusively PL style for a few reasons (trying to contain it all in one book, keeping everyday memories the focus, keeping somewhat up to date). I've done well with it, but I do miss doing pages like before. So I'm not quite committed to PL exclusively.
2. Format? 12 x 12, hopefully 1 book and then a 6x8 for DD.
3. Products (new and old)? I think I'll continue subbing to Elle's Studio and then add in from my stash. I've been good this year using up most of the monthly Elle's Studio so it's worth it to me.
4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? I may switch it up with a 1 PL page for each month and then typical 12 x 12 pages for bigger events throughout the year. I'm still undecided and came here for inspiration!

On the 2022 goals thread I mentioned I need to take a different approach to scrapping. My supplies are organized well. The problem is me going from one project to another and forgetting what I am doing. I'm going to move some papers from Iris Bins to my Expedit. So, I'll have empty cases to put the supplies in for my current project. It will only be one or two pages at a time.
I definitely need to commit to printing photos each month. I use a 12x12 album and will continue to do so because I have a LOT of page protectors. It will continue to be mostly photos, and a space or two for journaling or embellishing. Products will be new and old. I'd like to learn canva to try making the occasional journal card that's a bit more personalized.
I also need to include the smaller things more. I did a bit better this year by saving screenshots of a weather forecast app on my phone.

Thanks for this thread it’s motivating.
1) I’m hoping to do the project and actually complete it. I’m a bit of a PL fail…..only completing one year fully and that was with the PL app. 2) 9x12 monthly 3) I am thinking of re-subbing to AE’s SBTM and also supplementing with my stash. 4) To finish lol. I need a better game plan. I’m planning to fill the cards out throughout the month and write down stories in my day one app. I have off every other Friday so I want to dedicate the second Friday I have off as my PL day. I will work on the previous month spread. I will pick out my pictures on the 1st and order any enlargements so I have everything for that designated day. If this goes well I’m hoping to also complete the same month from 2020 at the same time.

We have a mint plush 9x12 (it looks just like the pink velvet to my eye) coming soon at SB.com. Oh please, let them add black or charcoal grey soon! I'm so excited about this development... ghislaine It's no longer just pink now. ETA: First look at what the plus/velvet fabric looks like IRL! So lush. Let me pet it, let me pet iiiit!

Okay, so...I may be converting from traditional 12x12 layouts to PL. I got a lot of questions:
What sizes are available?
Where do you get your albums and page protectors?
Do you mix and match page protectors in your albums?
Do any of you have pages out of page protectors?
What brands should I stay away from due to quality?
What size do you like and why?
Are there kits to help get me started?
I really enjoyed working on my December Daily and realized it made me happy to create again. I am kind of over 12x12 traditional pages.

Are there kits to help get me started? I really enjoyed working on my December Daily and realized it made me happy to create again. I am kind of over 12x12 traditional pages. I mix and match PL sizes within my book. Sometimes you just need a little more room and don’t want to do an entire new 12*12 page. All my albums are black 12*12. Some are American Crafts but most are black cloth albums from Hobby Lobby. I use HL Brand albums and page protectors because I don’t want to be held to Becky Higgins or Studio Calico. HL quality is fine for what I need - it’s more important for me to always be able to get them vs super heavy plastics. I switched over when BH plastics and SC plastics were cloudy and not sized right.

What sizes are available? The most used sizes for PL are the good ol' 12x12, the current all-around fave 9x12, the trendy "Kelly Purkey" size of yore 6x12 (now almost exclusively available from Studio Calico since WRMK stopped making this format) and 6x8. Where do you get your albums and page protectors? Scrapbook.com's in-house brand which is really good quality for both PPs and albums. Do you mix and match page protectors in your albums? I used to and still do when working in 6x8 but I use almost exclusively one type of PP in 9x12 (just a personal preference). I also use smaller inserts like 6x12 in 9x12. Do any of you have pages out of page protectors? Not when going larger than 6x8. What size do you like and why? I go back and forth between the compact format of 6x8 and 9x12 these days. I had a major love affair with 6x12 a few years ago. 6x8 sits beautifully in your lap and is so easy to handle. 9x12 holds the right amount of space when I try to do just one spread per month (with an insert, usually). I never do 12x12, just too large, too heavy, too bulky. It doesn't even fit on my coffee table. Are there kits to help get me started? Yes, there are but I don't necessarily recommend them. If you have some basic stash including alpha stickers and embellishments, you may only need to buy some cards. Many monthly sub kits sell their leftover cards a few months after the inital release in their shop. It's a great way to pick up some cards for your pockets while being financially savvy (and not adding too much stuff to your existing stash). The great thing about PL is that you can always add in the occasional traditional LO if you feel like making one. Just add it as an insert to your regular pages and boom, done. No need to worry about going "full PL" or making a parallel chronological LO album. You can absolutely add your LOs right in there in your PL timeline. Welcome aboard, by the way! PL is such a fun project to look back on.

Ok, I'm jumping in. I can't answer any of the questions. I have no idea how I want to approach this or what album to use. I'm very comfortable with 6X8 so I think I'll stick with that but the velvet album has my freaking heart. So I'm going to read all of your posts very closely and lurk for a bit. Thanks sleepingbooty for the kick.

I still work in 12x12 and don't plan to change that yet, but 9x12 is definitely gaining in popularity, and there are some die hard 9x12 scrappers here. I've done PL in 6x8 before as well, although that album was stuffed to overflowing.
I second sb.com albums and page protectors. I use those and WRMK when I can buy them on sale interchangeably. I can buy the sb.com ones and pay for international shipping and still get them cheaper than I can buy WRMK here.
I definitely mix up the pocket pages I use. I'm currently working through my stash of all the different designs from when I thought I had to have all the different options, and like mixing these in with traditional 12x12 pages. I do the same in smaller formats such as 6x8, using two different configurations of pockets for a double page spread. I also mix brands, although you should note that sometimes the gutters are much wider on some brands than others. I rarely scrap out of the page protector because that's just not my thing.
There are definitely kit options available depending on your style. I like Elle's Studio for lots of basics and a kit that is reasonably priced and can actually be used up in any given month. I like some of the designs on the SC cards although their embellishments and stamp sets can be very hit or miss. I think there was a thread recently about kit clubs.
I really love pocket pages for telling smaller stories that I don't think deserve a full 12x12 page, and they're great for using up the random icons from die cut packs and sticker sheets.

1. Got plans for next year's PL?I was so inspired by the way Shimelle was doing her album for this year I was tempted to scrap my plan and rework the pages I'd already done to use her format, so that's what I'm going to do for next year, and also for 2010 which I'm going to actually scrap. I have it started in a format that is just no longer inspiring and so is mostly just photos and notes stuck in a box, so I'll be working on both years throughout next year and however long it takes me to finish 2010. 2. Format?I'll be working in 12x12 albums using a mix of full size pages and pocket pages. 3. Products (new and old)?I've spent the last two years working through my ridiculously large stash of various pocket pages and plan to keep using those up. Going forward I'm only going to buy the formats I find the easiest/most flexible for the way I scrap, but want to clear all the other designs out of my stash first. I picked up the SS monthly collection everyone seemed to be using this year, and the papers for the EP version for 2022. I'm going to allocate one collection to each of the years I'm working on and will pull everything else from my stash. I have a healthy collection of paper, pocket cards, and embellishments, and would like to make a dent in all of them. 4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? Not especially, except perhaps that I'm giving myself permission to scrap more pages in 12x12 in any given month if I feel like I want to (also better for stash busting) rather than my 2021 approach which was a pocket page + one 12x12 facing page for each week except Christmas where I plan to include a couple of extra 12x12 pages. I’m very interested in how Shimelle approached her album. I briefly saw something with divided page protectors and a few 12x22 layouts each month. Do you have any other tips on how she is doing it or links to how she does it? I am very interested. I haven’t done a project life since 2012 because I love 12x12 layouts too much. If I could combine 12x12 with the little details of the month, that would be perfect. Thank you!!!

If I could combine 12x12 with the little details of the month, that would be perfect. This is exactly how I would describe her process for this year. As far as I know she only did the two part youtube video at the start of this year (links to part one and part two) showing her process, but for me it was a mindset shift which excited me. I've always approached my albums as either all 12x12 pages, or all pocket pages, or for the last couple of years I've done a 12x12 + a facing pocket page. There have been times I would have liked to include more 12x12 pages, but didn't want end up with even more albums per year. I think Shimelle's approach this year, of doing full page layouts for the photos/stories she wanted, and then including all the other smaller stories from the month in however many pocket pages it takes will give me the best of all the ways I've done it in the past.

I like the 12x12 We R Memory Keepers albums. I like to mix and match page sizes in my book. I don't have any pages outside of the protectors unless I am doing a mini album (like 6x8 or 4x4). Even then I worry about how the pages will hold up. I do however like to embellish on top of the page protectors rather than on the photo sometimes.

Shimelle hasn’t shared her PL beyond her first getting started page at the beginning of the year. She shared her plan and that was it. A lot of people have been asking her to share (during her YT lives) and she seemed surprised by the interest but maybe possibly open to the possibility of sharing more. I kind of doubt that’ll happen though.

Me, having managed to fit 2 years of PL in one Inked 6x8 album #badscrapbooker. I seriously do t understand how the heck you get it all in! Mary Poppins of PL! Spoiler: flat embellishing almost exclusively (definitely no wood veneer, barely any chipboard, just a few lone puffy stuckers) and stamping. One 3x4 recap card per month. And a harsh selection of which images to keep, which to just store in the cloud and forget about. But all the memories I wanted to keep are in there, I promise.

Okay so I see some discussion here about flat embellishments vs thicker ones like wood, chipboard, etc. Interesting thoughts. As I am wrapping up my first DD, my last few days are more flat as I am running out of room.
Does anyone do PL just based on events that happened that you want to document? Sort of like a traditional scrapbook album but in pocket style?
And can anyone direct me to people to follow on IG? And YT?

My plan is to do 12x12 layouts for the bigger stories and pocket pages for the smaller stories/photos. I just put an order in for pocket page protectors, stamps, Shimelle’s January Best if Both Worlds and Simple Stories kit with the monthly cut aparts.

1. Got plans for next year's PL? This will be my third year starting PL! I started 2020 but have 6 months left to finish, but I'm only 3 months behind on 2021, so....progress! I tried weekly for awhile, but then moved to monthly and find it so much easier, for me. At the start of a new month, I'll take several days to look at the previous month's photos, sketch out my layout and pick the pocket page configuration, print, journal and embellish. This system was working great for me until my printer died on me in October....but I got a new one for Christmas so I am ready to go! 2. Format? Staying with 12x12 because I have a whole stash of page protectors to go through before I can justify investing in a new size....maybe next year. 3. Products (new and old)? I am still with AE Stories by the Month because the price is decent and I use about 95% of the kit up, so I feel like it's a good use of money and I still appreciate the style. I've also resubbed to Cocoa Daisy's modern memory-keeping kit now that they changed back so you get all 24 pocket cards. I don't mind mixing AE and Cocoa Daisy kits in the same album, and since I am going to work on previous year's albums I don't mind having two monthly kits for now. 4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? I'm hoping to keep up the momentum I had with PL before my printer issues....and I want to finish my 2020 album, and maybe start in on 2019. I'm definitely sticking with documenting monthly though. Not only is it easier for me to plan, I feel less self-imposed pressure to get it done since I have a whole month.
