Okay so I see some discussion here about flat embellishments vs thicker ones like wood, chipboard, etc. Interesting thoughts. As I am wrapping up my first DD, my last few days are more flat as I am running out of room. Does anyone do PL just based on events that happened that you want to document? Sort of like a traditional scrapbook album but in pocket style? And can anyone direct me to people to follow on IG? And YT? I love to take random pictures and everyday life type stuff and that's why PL works so well for me, but I also add in event based spreads in pockets that will typically be 1-4 pages long depending on how many pictures I want to include. (That's another reason why I love monthly documenting and different sized pages.) So if I ever stop taking everyday stuff pictures, I would still probably continue with pocket pages for my main documenting

1. Got plans for next year's PL? Y ep, will be picking up on same format from past 2-3 years. 2. Format? Monthly spreads in 12x12 album. 3. Products (new and old)? STRUGGLING. I'm parting ways with Studio Calico (after YEARS of subscribing). I had decided to switch to FYC and well that's not going to happen. NO idea what I will do. None of the other kits are quite what I want. And yes, I need a kit. 4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? Nope, just that I really need a kit. I didn't like every FYC kit but I was planning on picking some up throughout next year and I am so bummed she closed up shop

Does anyone do PL just based on events that happened that you want to document? Sort of like a traditional scrapbook album but in pocket style? I think many PLers these days are more selective with what they add to their album. Gone are the days of filling up pockets for the sake of filling up pockets. I still enjoy documenting the music I'm listening to on repeat and favourite binge-worthy TV series but most of my PL is made up of anecdotes and events I have selected to keep a record of. And can anyone direct me to people to follow on IG? And YT? What kind of PL are you interested in? General aesthetic/style? Brands you're looking for inspiration for? Here's an overview of a bunch of more or less famous pocket page PLers depending on style/brands/products represented that have process videos on YT: Ali Edwards IG/ YT (big archive of PL videos) Sarah Zayas IG/ YT (go back in time, about a year or so, before she went all in with TNs: plenty of PL videos) Jennie Garcia IG/ YTHeba Alsibai IG/ YTTheresa Moxley IG/ YT
Juli Maniago IG/ YTAmy Gretchen IG/ YT (go back to 2020 and earlier)

sleepingbooty like Sarah Z (thanks for all those links! Only followed 2 of them and will follow the rest). So the ability to document an event or outing for the kids albums. A special day, just a day doing whatever. A big goal met. Some breaking down a traditional 12x13 and doing pockets. Photos, cards, embellishments in the pockets. But the ability, if I want to, to make a traditional 12x12 and have it in the same album.

I think I am going to do a 6x8 format and mostly a monthly recap vs weekly. I’ve done a couple of years of weekly spreads, but I want to simplify it some.

1. Got plans for next year's PL? I plan to do it. 2. Format? 12x12 as usual 3. Products (new and old)? Stash + PP sub 4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? I need to pull kits from my own stash and probably do a proper destash. The stamp struggle is real though and I need to reorganize or sell/donate. Something's got to give because my desk feels stale. Must finish DD first though.

4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach: I'm actually hoping to work on 2 PL albums at the same time. I want to go back and create a album for 2019. I didn't start PL till 2020, but my son was born in 2019. I'd love to have albums for every year of his life. Having PL for your son's whole life would be awesome. A dream of mine is to have that for my daughter but also the year I was pregnant. That means I need to go back to 2016.

Does anyone do PL just based on events that happened that you want to document? Sort of like a traditional scrapbook album but in pocket style? *raises hand* This is how I have always done it. 2022 is my 7th year of documenting and I have always scrapped by event whether that is a birthday, a day out, a weekend away or a 2 week vacation. I keep it all together in yearly albums. I have no real interest in documenting day to day life - I can do that through separate projects such as WITL or Positivity Passport. My plan for this year will be to continue as I have for the last six years - using as many 6x8 Simple Stories albums as the year requires to tell the stories from these events. Basically, my scrapbooks are my highlight reel of all the fun adventures I go on with my husband and our dog.

I still haven't decided 100% what format to use this year. I'm not going to use the same templates that I have used for the last two years. I think I'm going to make it a bit more simple, maybe even use the Becky Higgins 😱 Project Life digital templates I bought years ago but have never used. I have until Saturday to decide, because I want to start work on the first week then.
Today I set up my spreadsheet to record all of the photos I'm going to use for PL. If I can keep that up to date every day it will make it quicker for me when it comes time to scrap.

1. Got plans for next year's PL? Yes! This will be my 10th year of Project Life and I couldn’t imagine not doing it, I love it so much. 2. Format? 12x12 modified weekly, just like I’ve done since 2016. I tried weekly in 2013, monthly in 2014, and “go with the flow” in 2015 and weekly was by far my favorite. However, sometimes a strict weekly format doesn’t work depending on what is going on in my life so I do my own version of “modified” weekly which means that my spreads are generally a week, running Monday - Sunday, and they include a title card that lists the dates (no week number). However, if I feel like I need a shorter period or longer period for a spread (for example because we went on a vacation, I will keep the vacation together as its own spread) I will just modify my dates for that spread and the surrounding spreads until I can get back onto my regular week. I also add in some traditional layouts, 9x12 or smaller, sandwiched in my spreads, typically with story kits. 3. Products (new and old)? I will continue using Ali Edwards products as my primary products (SBTM & story kits) and supplementing from my stash. I canceled paper person in 2021 and am happy about that because the kits just weren’t speaking to me as much as the old KP shop was. Originally I had planned to just work with AE products + stash, but I do really use a lot of products between weekly spreads + my other scrapbooking, so I could use another sub as well. I am considering going back to Studio Calico documenter kits… I cancelled them after 2018 or 2019? I have picked up one or two here and there, but I haven’t gotten them consistently in awhile. But, I do like a lot of the cards and the January kit looks nice… I also like what looks to be their monthly embellishment for 2022. So I’m on the fence… 4. Anything new or particularly different to your 2021 approach? Not really, no. I feel like I’ve really found my groove in project life and there is no real reason to change it. I do like to look back over my albums at the start of the year and remember certain techniques or elements I included that I maybe forgot about. I also plan to use some of the repeating cards from the AE SBTM in 2022 in each month this year. I am going to also try to create more process videos to share on YouTube beyond just my album flip throughs. I have a few process videos up from 2021 but I want to do more in 2022.

I'm keeping on with my regular 12x12 weekly format. I've been doing PL since 2010 like this and skipped 2019 and missed it so much that I came back. Funny story, I was organizing my albums and was turning my place upsidedown looking for 2019, even questioned the kids about where my album was and then I realized I didn't make one 😳! I'm about 3 weeks out of being finished 2021, then I'll start 2022.
I found that this year I only worked on it every 3 months but I had to drag out all my stuff, work till I was out of pictures then put it all away again. I think if I had a dedicated workspace for my PL I would be more consistent. So I'm in the process of repurposing some furniture to do that.
Currently will use up stash and any AE kits/SC kits I will pick up during sales. I've cancelled all my sub's in order to use up some stuff and save some $$.

Not me getting home from seeing family, getting the washing machine going, making a pot of tea and sitting down to start working on PL 2022. I am currently playing around with cards for my first spread despite only having 1 memory to document. Even got the stamps and vellum paper out. I'm ridiculously excited by the prospect of recording a new year. And by the velvet 9x12 albums SB.com are releasing...

My first PL was in 2012, which covers 2 of my kids. I have attempted to go back and do my other PL, but lack the motivation. Every time I sit down to do it, I'm like "eh... it's been so long!" I actually have the pics printed... the struggle, man. I love having PL for all those years and it's definitely lightened up since then. I'd like to say this will be the year, but I know it won't.

I purchased Good Stuff by Simple Stories as a base for PL 2022. If I just stick to that, I will be satisfied. My plan is to add on with current events extras.
I haven’t completed a PL album in several years so I feel likeSS Good Stuff sets me up for success.
I’m using a 12x12 WRMK Leather Album in either turquoise or kiwi green.

I don't have much to document for January 1 & 2 but I figure this week I can get the album set up and maybe catch up on some 2021 spreads. I am more excited about documenting this year than the past 5 years (which are not done or even partially done) since we're actually doing more than just staying sequestered in the house - or at least we were doing more before the current variant started ripping through the world. I like the idea of the velvet albums but the colors are not for me. I'm hoping they'll get a red one or even a yellow one.

I had the weirdest dream last night.... sleepingbooty you accidentally deleted your account and people were going nuts trying to work out who "Deleted" was on the threads. I had a feeling it was you, so I came straight to this PL Megaaa thread and saw it was started by "Deleted" so I was able to confirm to everyone. People were trying to work out why you'd deleted, and I was saying "No, there's no reason, it was an accident!" 🤪 I know people like to analyse their dreams, and try to find some deeper meaning, but this one is easily explained, nothing Freudian about it! 1. I was adding a badge to my profile yesterday and noticed the 'Delete Forum Account' button and thought how easy it would be to accidentally click on it. I was wondering whether you get an "are you sure" warning before it deletes. 2. This thread was the last one I posted on last night before going to bed which is probably why of all the Peas, it was sleepingbooty who'd deleted in my dream.

I would just like to say I actually edited my photos yesterday from the prior week (granted, I'm counting only Saturday and Sunday as my week 1 because having December 2021 days in my 2022 album bothers me LOL) and I have printed them out! I'm very proud of myself because I literally never do this. I decided to not scroll instagram for hours yesterday and edit photos instead, hopefully I can keep up the momentum!

But, for some strange reason, I want to complete my December Daily first. I'll give myself one month to complete December Daily, then I'm going to jump into Project Life 2022!! I print all my photos at the end of the month, so it's all good.

I can't promise that won't happen one night after one too many glasses of wine pea-ing while scrapbooking (with a bad Hallmark rom-com in the background, obviously). I'll try my best not to be lured into the "I wonder if there's a warning before final deletion" siren song should I ever be tipsy enough to risk finding out... 🤞😁 This reminds me I have to go add my badge! AussieMeg Thanks so much for getting us badges. Do you know if I should host it on my own Flickr account to add it to my siggy or are we hotlinking from team leaders?

I just adhered down a strip of the box that contained my flu vaccine (just got vaxxed today as the flu epidemic heads into full swing where I live) onto a PL card. Ready to add the date with my beloved (and hoarded since I can no longer buy them 😭) KP stickers. AAAAH, I'm so giddy about PL 2022.

I have yet to finish an opening page because I don't like what I make and take it apart thinking I'll finish it later and basically finish it never. I've never bothered with an opening page, just straight into Week One. But then again, I've never actually finished a year, so...... My plan was to get a photo of the whole family 8x10 and make that the opening page. But as it is summer, the kids are hardly around, and if they are, they're never here at the same time. So now I'm thinking I'll just do a big decorative 2022. I hope others share their opening pages so I can get some ideas too! Hmmmmm, now that's given me an idea...... One of my challenges on another site is to use at least four "dangles" on the page. I might "hang" each number of 2022 from the top of the page. Kill two birds with one stone - opening page done, Day 3 challenge done!

Does anyone do PL just based on events that happened that you want to document? Sort of like a traditional scrapbook album but in pocket style? I haven't posted in a long time in the 2 peas gallery, but that's basically how I do Project Life. Events, little things...basically whatever I feel like throwing in there. These are examples of pages that are a bit more embellished. My albums definitely do NOT have a cohesive look.
Would anyone mind sharing their opening pages either from this year or past years? I usually just decorate a journal card with the month and year. I think I did this with my 2015 album.... I'll have to look!

Probably a large photo with number '22' balloons cut down to fit into the pockets and the Taylor Swift 22 lyrics ("I don't know about you but I'm feeling 22") in KP alpha stickers. ETA: Ania Turek's opening page is super simple but striking (as usual). She's even giving me 12x12 envy all of a sudden. https://www.instagram.com/p/CYR23tIIc7a

Woohoo, one page down, 104 to go! My opening page is done now too thanks to a 2022 coffee monsters co die cut and some alpha stickers on vellum. Going to branch out and try something crazy this year and do a project life esk album broken down into months with a look back into my past with glimpses of 2022 included… I don’t have enough to do project life weekly or monthly for just my own stuff (have heaps for the kids but they have separate albums to this one) so thought I’d try and scrap some old photos and memories and thoughts instead esp. as covid is rearing its ugly head again. Have some month cards I picked up on sale that will be perfect for this task and am basing my embellishments on the colours of the month card so trying to smash my stash of old story kit embellishments in this way as well! Thought if I do it this way I’ll be able to have months full of recent things if and when I actually leave the house BUT if I don’t I’ll have an album full of awesome memories and favourite photos instead 😁 I think constantly documenting how crap everything is at the moment and the lack of light at the end of the tunnel would have gotten me down a little bit, especially after three or so years of it thanks to natural disasters and then covid…. 🙄🙄🙄

Question: Has anyone done a DITL insert in their PL for their birthday? I'm considering it this year, just not sure if it's worth it, especially during a pandemic. I'm a winter baby so the Covid-19 mess and Omicron madness will definitely not have calmed down by then. It'll probably be a day of staying at home, mostly. Still, I'm tempted for some reason (maybe to keep myself busy on another "lame" birthday?). Thoughts? Experiences?
