Don't mind me giggling at the January 2021 memes in refugeepea 's PL. "I'm a proud boy" got to me... Really nice to see your political pages, refugeepea! How fitting you've been working on these as the hearings are unfolding. Will you be adding a page about these hearings in your 2022 PL as well? It could make for a very interesting full historical perspective.

It could make for a very interesting full historical perspective. I have some things saved on pinterest. I've been trying to remember a bit of politics each month in my PL album. I know I'm going to include these for June and definitely more. The testimony from the Georgia election official and her mother was heartbreaking today. šŖ

My heart aches for the Americans who are about to affected by the country's Supreme Court decision. No words. For those who plan on documenting this sad day, I thought I'd share a couple of high resolution illustrations I've found online. This first one is by Chloe Cushman for The New Yorker: The second one is by Coco for French newspaper LibƩration (it's a more explicit take on one of the deadly consequences of this decision so I'm putting it behind a spoiler tag): I'm so sorry for you all. My "voluntary interruption of pregnancy" as we refer to abortion in France was one of the very best decisions I've ever made. I understand the gravity of the situation and weep for you tonight.

Extremely sad today. I knew it was coming. I know how children are treated once they are born; especially those with special needs. My daughter wants a hysterectomy. She has no desire to have kids and she's worried about birth control (deservedly so). She has PCOS.

Really sad and very sorry for your daughter and the other people about to make some difficult (possibly illegal in their state) decisions. I wish her the best with her choice re: hysterectomy. The US just took a big leap away from the other developed nations and advanced democracies. Oh, the irony to claim to be the land of the free (not if you're a woman, POC, LGBTQ+ or other minority). This tweet sums up the madness of the situation:

Iām hoping PP brings out a sassy mini kit with the theme of Keep Your F*cking Bans Off My Body. š¤
I am gutted and reeling. Iāve been really quiet in talking about this in my real life (and on SM), because itās just too deep for me. But my 15yo daughter is bringing fire on her Instagram and I have to say, itās made me so so proud of her.

It's all so heartbreaking. I've been crying a lot. As privileged pregnant person, who went through IVF to get here, it's maddening and scary. And I realize, because I am privileged, I have options millions of other women do not. I feel helpless (other than sending money) and beyond angry at the democrats for allowing this to happen. We have 2 embryos still on ice back in Texas and I'm desperate to get them moved. (We will likely never use them, but want the option to donate to another couple). This ruling puts IVF treatment at risk and this decision effects so much more than abortion but it is bat-shit insane that the right to choose isn't enough. I can't even, I don't have the words. I plan to add professor Heather Cox Richardson's Facebook post from yesterday to my PL album to help document it. I'm pretty sure I found her via the Peas during the pandemic. She's a historian who puts current events into context. I adore her work. Here's a link if you want to check her out: www.facebook.com/heathercoxrichardson

But my 15yo daughter is bringing fire on her Instagram and I have to say, itās made me so so proud of her. Her generation will carry the heaviest burden and experience the greatest loss. We're already past our prime fertility years. We will witness the change, the moment everything changed. They will never have known their country as on their side, protecting their right to terminate a pregnancy. You have every reason to be proud of her resounding voice. She's going to need to be loud and feisty with the American society ahead of - and against - her. Wishing you all the best with your embryo transfer. It must be quite overwhelming knowing you could lose control over your own fertilised eggs. Sending you hugs. Everyone's feeling really sad right now, even us foreigners who remain completely unaffected by this. It's a sad era for the US that has begun but know that your pain is shared beyond your borders. For anyone wanting to use a statement sentiment, I thought the final "we dissent" from the dissenting opinion was simple but powerful. It also creates a strong contrast to the "we the people" the Trump fanatics have been using left and right. Would look nice stamped large in an album and say everything you have to say if you're not in the mood to journal (understandably so).

Thanks sleepingbooty sympathy from around the world helps, especially as things get progressively scarier here. & good ideas on adding the "We decent" as part of the documentation. That was very powerful.

Poor Statue... Auguste Bartholdi's corpse must be seasick from all the rolling in his grave he's been doing lately (he was a great admirer of the young USA and its values). The images of her construction in Paris are beautiful but I really don't want her back here. She can't just be a symbol of a glorious past that is gone. All I can do is hope she will eventually guide the country back to enlightenment.

If anyone needs a "we dissent" card for Project Life, you can download a high-resolution version containing the final paragraph of the dissenting opinion right here. Should be good to print up to 6x8. Low-res preview:

I was so happy to have all the pages done for my 2021 book. Then I have been stuck for the last week on the cover/title page. All the examples I see on Pinterest have a family photos. We didn't take any good family photos last year. Ugh! I am ready to slap the year on a black page and call it done.

Individual portrait photo(s) of each family member (you could turn them black and white for a cohesive look) and a card mentioning the year? Boom, done. Don't fret about it. The album title page is just that. The actual memories held inside matter, the rest is scrappy fluff.

For the American PLers, The New Yorker published this captioned cartoon for the Supreme Court decision re: federal climate change measures: āI donāt care what you sayānow is the perfect time to gut the agency protecting us from asteroids.ā

So clean and pretty, burnbright ! I love the minimalist aesthetic paired with the yearly recap (and I admit I got a little chill remembering we got access to vaccines just last year... seems like forever ago in some way). Congratulations on finishing, by the way. The feeling of a completed album is unparalleled and Zeus knows PL is not for the faint of heart. š Hoping for a good sale soon so you can finally hold the fruit of your labour in your hands.

I'm sure this has already been covered but do you put a spread for WITL in your PL? I've not come to this yet and I want to avoid duplicating stories.

She showed how sheās approached WITL in her PL albums without being redundant and it was very very cool. I agree Lindaās video about this is a good one with lots of ideas.
I personally didnāt want a separate album for week in the life so I just made WITL extra pages for thatās weekās spread in my regular PL weekly album and it closed out the 6 months in that album.
If I do make a separate album next year Iād use some of Lindaās ideas.

And I have now (finally) completed project life up to may, have printed photos for my witl album and June (waiting on them to arrive in the post) so I am basically almost caught up š. I think witl is interesting if you do the project with a different focus or different lens each time with other stories included as and when they happen - Iāve focussed on stories about what we ate for each meal, this year was a focus on what packages I received in the mail (all my overboard purchases as I have some extra cash this year from working a little more so I am stash expanding), 2021 was all about the new daily routines and remembering what each family member was grateful for during covid lockdowns and another time I did what we were watching on tv each day as the main focus. I have other weekly and daily stories included but I find this makes taking photos and writing journaling a lot easier and more interesting and I donāt get overwhelmed or forget to document things if I have one theme. And mine will never fit in my project life album but I do manage to condense it to a 3x8 album each timeā¦justā¦

I get to work on a super fun pocket layout this weekend! Been feeling a little blah about working on my kids albums so have been doing some fun multimedia art stuff.
Anyways, dd and I went to a cool coffee shop in another city that is Halloween themed!
The decor is Halloween (Freddy, Jason, Michael, Chucky, Annabelle, horror movies, etc) and all the drinks are fun names.
Oh and they had Krampus!
Took a lot of pics. I think because I get to use Halloween papers and embellishments I am excited to make this page.
Been getting bored of the usual stuff.
Anyways if anyone is ever in the IE or lives here you have to check out Roast the Dead Coffee.

I finally threw in the towel on doing PL in 9x12. I was still in March, struggling to get it to work for me. Pages were taking me forever to do and not enjoyable. I had decided to just get caught up to June, then begin album #2 for the rest of the year in 12x12 ā¦ but the idea of three more months struggling with the 9x12 size was not motivating.
So I said screw it, plopped three months worth of 9x12 pages in a 12x12 and am continuing on my way. Suddenly everything is clicking again and Iām ENJOYING PL for the first time this year! š
How ridiculous. I love doing mini albums, so I just canāt pinpoint why a (slightly!) smaller footprint for PL was such a roadblock for me. Iām just happy I finally waved the white flag.

What I find interesting is I enjoy the 9 3x4 pockets pocket page for my 9x12 album the best. Sometimes the combo 3x4 and 4x6 pocket page gives me some issues with planning.
My second favorite is the single pocket 9x12 page.

I just completed my first 9x12 page last night for my PL for this half of the year. The first half I used 6x12. I did like that size a lot but I found I wanted to tell more stories than I had room for and regularly added flip up and smaller inserts (6x8, 3x8). It felt luxurious to have all the space! Lol
I was quite irked at the page protectors, though. I bought from AE at the 40% off sale and many of the 3x4 pockets donāt fit her cards! What the hell. I had to trim a lot and I didnāt like that at all. Not sure what to do about that. I donāt care for the pp at scrapbook.com - they are too big and the contents of the pockets seem to float around and that bugs me more. I used BH pp in the 6x12 size and had no issues with those.

Yeah, the 4x6 is actually like 4.2x6.2 and the 3x4 is like 3.1x4.1 I always have to back my 4x6 photos. I just bought the sb.com 3x4 and 4x6 pocket die set and will see how that works out. I did make 2 cards that I use as guides as I cut down. I get my inserts just snug enough.

I finally got back to doing some PL pages. I got 3 weeks done in the last 2 days and I'm finally up to May. The pages are less embellished but I'm still pleased with how they turned out over all and so happy to be making pages again. I'm hoping to work on May over the next couple of days. It felt good to work through some of my kits that have been piling up too.
I'm still torn over what to do with my CD subscription and if I want to continue or switch to something new this fall. Anyone have a sub they are loving these days?

I finished October 2021 on Friday. I don't think it will take too long to do November and December.
I was waffling on whether I would do a 2022 album because I haven't been doing all that great at taking pictures, but I did an inventory on the weekend and I think I can make it work. I'm feeling really behind, but am hoping that I come up with a system to streamline things for this year and just keep it simple so that I have an album done. I really like how things have come together for last year, and want to have something for this year. I'm going to really focus on getting this done by December so I can start fresh next year.
I'm also starting to think about product for next year. I am going to be using leftovers of Simple Stories Hello Today for this year, and will be ready for a change next year. I am trying to decide between Simple Stories Life Captured and using stash.
