brrrr jjpeapea - it's supposed to be 20 this weekend here and everyone is stressing about how cold it'll be (admitedly this is Florida and it'll be in the 70s next week). Sounds like you've been super busy and productive. Great job working ahead on your 28-4-28 samples - I guess I should start thinking about that also.

I journal a little on every page. Scrapbooking is still about capturing memories to me, not just the art. I struggle when the memories get redundant. Eg. We love camping. We love this part, we love that part. Same as last year, new pictures. I find it hard to find new feelings because we're all the same people and truthfully it doesn't change much! It's part of why we love it - it's COMFORTABLE. Same with Christmas. I feel like I've covered all the bits and pieces about Christmas feelings and traditions now, and don't want to write about them again! Hi KikiPea! You did see that you can claim 10 points/crafty hour...which will include your clay work, right? Glad that's going well for you! Hiya! I did not see that. Thanks for the heads up!

Cold here in Central Pennsylvania! The day started out at -4 F. Our morning started at a balmy "feels like" -22 F (it was actually only -11, but windchill) (and that is -30 C in my language btw!) so DH got up at 6AM on his day off to drive our oldest to work. It's only 1.5k (about 1 mile) that he walks, but we didn't want him frostbit! This is our coldest time of year by far. We usually only have 1-2 "cold snaps" like this, and hover a few degrees below freezing the rest of the winter. I plan to walk the dog between 3-4 pm, since that's the warmest window we'll have! Danggit, gonna have to be an inside crafting day jjpeapea, how would a virtual event look outdoors? Fingers crossed for good weather, because it's otherwise a great idea...outdoors is so much safer, they can dance away without masks! Here, when our elementary kids go outside for recess, they still have to leave their masks on. Personally, I think that's overkill. However, kuddos to the kiddos... (OK, hold on, that's an amazing scrapbook layout title. Have to remember that one!) all those wee kids have been wearing masks for a big part of their lives and don't think twice about running around in them! I really need to create my 28-4-28 project samples. Every layout I started this month I veered in a different direction.

Hello my Pea Sisters,
This week has been surreal. On Tuesday the RN from the Comfort Care (the help my mother hired for Dad's hygiene and light housekeeping) came and did an assessment. With her assessment we were able to more quickly get hospice services. Wed, Thurs were super busy days with hospice service coming in etc. My sister and I are able to be here the duration and are administering all his meds. At first OTC, then yesterday the swallow reflex became too weak, fortunately the hospice RN come by yesterday morning and taught us how to give him the palliative end of life meds. We are well supported by our combined spiritual communities, and immediate family. Obviously, my focus is here and not on crafts, or being able to respond on the organization thread. I am very thankful for my supportive husband and family to allow me to be here through this time. It is time with my father and mother I will never regret! Thank you for your prayers.

kitbop you're thoughtful to consider my daughter's event. There are two parts - next weekend is a "drive through". Instead of "walking the red carpet" we drive through a parking lot and people are waving signs, clapping, wishing well. One family at a time can go inside and get a photo, or have a photo taken next to their car. There will be a tent for karaoke and dancing, but our partaking of that depends on the weather. It's Central Pennsylvania in February after all. We'll get a bag with some goodies. and a tiara. Then the weekend after that is the virtual video time of supportive messages, a dj with dance music, a time to place the tiara. The in-person event in 2020 was so fun. We squeezed it in just before everything went crazy. The virtual is not as much fun but the committee is doing the best they can to balance safe and fun, and we appreciate them so much. angel97701 you are in my thoughts. I was with my mom at a similar time of life. Things changed so fast my head was spinning. Everyone was so kind but of course it was still difficult.

Hey Everyone! It's almost February which means it's almost time for the 28-4-28 challenges. I'm one of the hosts and I'm super excited - this is one of my favourite challenges (along with Sketchtember). grammadee has loads of points we can earn also - here's what she says: "you can earn at least FIVE points for meeting each challenge, with a TWO POINT BONUS for also meeting the twist on the same project. (There may be extra points offered up in some of the challenges). This was not stated in the Quarter One challenges list, or in gramma's spreadsheet, but if you can complete ALL of the 28-4-28 challenges by the end of this quarter, you can earn a BONUS of 280 points! "

Is everyone ready for month TWO of our quarterly challenge?
I'm going to tote up my points on my points thread so I can clean it up a bit for the new month and new creating - plus I'm hoping that'll make it easier at the end of the quarter to get my total points.

Welcome msupea and @zima! I need to remember to print off the daily 28-4-28 challenge or I will totally forget about them. Since I'm also a host, and only have 2 prompts completed so far, I think I'll try to double dip - I'll fulfil one prompt while simultaneously creating one for week 3 or 4! Also - just a nudge - don't forget to check out every week's "POTW" (pea of the week) challenges. Just doing 2 of them is 10 points. I try to make the challenges very do-able, and easy to incorporate into any style or project. Yesterday, our covid restrictions lifted a bit (50% gym, 50% restaurant capacity etc) so that means less scrappy time. Lock downs suck...but sure create time for scrapbooking Tonight, I'm back to the dance studio (I take tap once/week. very very beginner) and I almost resent not being able to scrap!

Thanks for the tips kitbopYeah - no scrappy time for me today either. I spent much of the day in the kitchen - we did a tea instead of dinner tonight and I made 3 kinds of tea sandwiches, scones, petit fours, and chocolate cornflake cakes...and of course, hot tea. I still need to exercise also - DH bought a rowing machine for Christmas and it's been set up since the 25th and I'm trying really hard to row every day (with Sundays off as a rest day).

Ryann - I did - first time for both. The petit fours were delicious but there's definitely a learning curve. I started with the recipe from the website below - used a tried and true chocolate cake mix and made my ganache with half and half since I had leftovers on hand (and the shops were sold out of whipping cream). I needed to add quite a bit more chocolate than the recipe called for but that may have been due to the substitution? Cutting the cake sounds easier than it was and my petit fours were certainly not as pretty as the ones in the picture but we enjoyed them. I used a variety of jams as fillings to suit my family's tastes. www.christinascucina.com/chocolate-petit-fours-perfect-for/For the scones - I would suggest self-rising flour - I didn't have any and used the guidelines from King Arthur Flour's website to make it with all-purpose flour and baking powder but my scones were flatter than anticipated. They were however delicious. www.teawithmum.com/easy-featherlight-scones/

I love the idea of doing this for Valentine’s Day. Our local tea room is closed on Mondays so this would be fun to do instead.

Ooh Linda your afternoon tea looks delicious! I'm all inspired to copy Ryann now and do a high tea for Valentine's Day for my DH. kitbop learning to tap sounds like fun. I did ballroom dancing lessons as an adult many years ago and loved it. I keep meaning to pick it back up but, you know, covid. I should put that on my to do list for this year.

I am back from a very surreal 8 days with my family. My father passed into the arms of his loving Savior to Heaven at 1:21 pm on 1/31/22. He was comfortable and peacefully left this earth surrounded by love. My mother is doing well, she has always known he would pass first as she is 13 years younger. She has been his full-time caregiver due to Alzheimer's for the last 3 years, with 18 months of twice a week in-home help. All of the extended family visited, (who were able traveled to see him) and the last granddaughter arrived from Alaska while he was still with us. My sister and I provided his end of life palliative care with the incredible home care and hospice nurses guiding us each step of the way. I am honored and blessed to have been at his bedside in his home to witness his home going to Jesus. There were many family stories shared during the week, laughter and joy for his life well-lived of 95 years. We are well supported by our faith community and find great comfort in knowing he is whole again.

Welcome msupea and @zima! angel97701 I'm so sorry for your loss, but it sounds like he had a peaceful passing and you sound at peace as well. Hugs to you. Linda! Your tea looks scrumptious and fun! Whoa crystalb, that's amazing and I'm in awe. I have 2 layouts so far and a few more pages in my DD finished lol. I want to get a look at the 28-4-28 challenges that have been posted and possibly start those this weekend. I really want the DD done but I keep finding more I want to add. I may set it aside for the weekend. It's a kid free weekend so I should be able to make both crops. Well, I know I'll make Sunday since I'm hosting LOL! I also want to get back to my 12x12 pages so I can earn some points. I've earned some, but I want more lol. Linda I'm going to tally my points every month as well. I do keep forgetting about my spot in the collection thread lol.

I haven't done any of the Feb challenges yet, but I plan to. Didn't scrap much this week, I think I have done one layout so far this week. Busy with work and feeling kinda blah.. also we are working on practicing "separation" from our dog who has separation anxiety. So we go into the garage and spend 30 min going in and out in and out so that the dog gets used to us being "gone." He's up to 5 minutes with out crying... lol.
I have some ideas for the challenges bopping around in my head, like which photos to use etc, I just need to execute. My husband is going skiing tomorrow so I have the whole day home to myself, so hopefully I can get some scrapping done!

joyfulnana - thanks - it was yummy and fun - definitely something I'll do again. Glad dyou get to scrap this weekend. I don't know if I'll get on the crops or not - it's hard when everyone's home and/or we're in and out doing errands. scrappyrabbit - separation anxiety is hard but it's good that you're working with him. Hopefully you'll get to scrap tomorrow - looking forward to your shares. I'm scrapping on and off today - DD15 is home sick (3rd day this week) and DH is working from home (his office asked him to since she's sick). I had to reschedule her oral surgery consultation and cancel her covid booster (they won't let me re-schedule until she hasn't had any symptoms for 14 days so I made a note on the calendar)

there's a poll up on the GS board for the March crop dates - go and vote please - hopefully we'll all be available to get some scrapping done (or at least some chatting) during the crop. And of course there will extra point earning opportunties
