Or something else?
For modesty, I must wear something.
For years now, I've worn two piece pajamas.
But recently I've become touch sensitive to having a waistband touching my skin at night.
So I'm thinking of buying nightgowns.
But how do you keep your legs warm if you wear them in winter (ours is cold)?
Do you have any recommendations?

I wear both/either. Mostly two pieces in the winter and nightgowns (which are really more like slips) in the summer. No joke, you could wear a "union suit" type pajama - a one piece with no waist band. ETA: like this

I wear two piece pajamas. I’m sensitive to having / wanting my legs covered and I feel a nightgown rides up. If I’m chilly at all I can’t sleep. I hate a tight waistband. I also hate a waistband that has to be done up because I pee a few times in the night. I like an elastic band that is tight enough to stay up but loose enough to pull down easily.
I buy PJ salvage. I love from nordstroms but usually buy from Nordstrom rack. Sometimes there are other brands that are worth buying but less expensive. I buy what looks like loungewear. I like it to be super soft. Pants plus a pullover top.

Sorry, just Tee shirt and underwear for me. But I wore nightgowns growing up and for warmth I would get flannel. If you can keep it from bunching up, they are amazingly warm. It is probably more about how you sleep, my mother wears them and has no issues. 😄
I don’t like how pajamas and nightgowns twist and move. If I had to wear a pajama bottom type item it would be like a legging.
ETA - I had a one piece that I loved and was so warm. A pain in the neck if you go to the bathroom a lot during the night. It was shocking to have to take the top down in the cold. 🥶😄

Nightgown. I can pull it up of I am hot and down if I am cooler. I hate wearing shorts/pants to bed.

I wear two pieces. Sometimes pants and long sleeve, sometimes I get hot during the night so take the pants off. I’m the summer I wear shorts and a tank or t-shirt.

I wear pajamas to lounge in, but I sleep in t-shirt type nightgowns. My mother convinced me as a child that I needed “to air out down there” (exact quote - lol) when I slept. It’s what I’m used to and most comfortable in.

In the winter, pyjamas. When I'm cold I tuck the top into the bottoms. That helps to keep the elastic waistband off my skin. I also have nightgowns and long t-shirts for when I really don't want to wear bottoms, mainly in the summer. I wore those when I had abdominal surgery and couldn't tolerate anything tight.

I’m a two piece girl. It’s often yoga pants and a tee though. Try the pjs from J Jill. They are so soft and comfy, the waistband may work for you.

I wear slips usually to sleep. Sometimes tank and underwear. I run hot, and would prefer to sleep naked. (Alas, children still climbing in my bed.)
It is pretty silly but if I know I'm really not going to want to work out the next morning, I will sleep in my workout clothes. If I wake up, and I am ready to go, it's one less excuse to not do it.

It never felt comfortable and I started wearing underwear as a teen.

Spring, summer, fall, winter - birthday suit.
I like to be free under the covers/blankets.
I do have clothing items laying by my side of the bed for earthquakes that I need to get out if bed for.

Both. Winter is for flannel pjs, while summer is for nightgowns, though I do have a lightweight pair of summer pjs. Growing up I always wore a flannel 'granny' gown (made my mom or grandma) and have considered getting another one. If you get cold you can tuck your legs up under the gown to warm up your legs! Brands I like are Natori, Josie by Natori, PJ Salvage, Eileen Fisher for gowns. My current summer gown is this one by Skarlett Blue. Very comfortable!

I only wear nightgowns. I don't wear underwear, either. The parts have to be aired out. I actually started doing that because I had yeast infections and that was a suggestion. 35 years later and I cannot sleep with underwear or pants. My legs don't get cold because I am under the covers. I never use flannel sheets, however, because those are too hot for me. I tend to run hot.

Two piece PJs winter and summer. I have about five pairs of a lightweight non-flannel Croft and Barrow set that I love. Of course I can’t find them any more. Long PJ pants, never capri length as I like my shins covered. We keep our bedroom on the cool side year ‘round, so I prefer long sleeves and pants. The elastic in the waist of this particular style is perfect - not too tight, and also has a drawstring which I tie loosely.

i cannot handle a nightgown. the twisty bunchiness gets to me. normally tshirt and undies. i don't get cold, if anything i wrap one foot outside the blanket for air to keep from overheating. that was an issue when my cat was a kitten! glad that stage is over. my room is the coldest room in the house but i would rather add another blanket than sleep with bottoms on.

Same. Sleep nude with a down comforter year round. We have a heated mattress pad for really cold nights.

That is a great idea. It reminds me of my childhood. My dad would get us up ridiculously early to leave for camping trips. We'd sleep in our shorts and tees and sort of stumble to the car with our pillows. I wear 2 piece pajamas to lounge in after dinner, then take off the pants to sleep. I get too hot to wear the pants.

I wear two piece light PJs year round. I am such a hot sleeper. Back in the day I’d wear flannels in the winter but now the thought of them, I’d burst into flames.

I do not like nightgowns or commercially prepared pajamas. It is men's oversized tee shirt and printed lounge pants for me. I have character theme lounge pants such as Harry Potter, Mario, Star Wars, Big Bang Theory and Poppin Fresh Dough Boy. Then I use the Silhouette to do a coordinating HTV transfer or printer to do a printed transfer for the tee shirt. Very mature, I know but they are comfortable and I enjoy seeing them.

If I have to sleep in clothes I wear sleep shorts and a tank or tee. I hate fabric wrapping around my legs and I don’t like to be hot either.

I have a few knee length gowns that I like, but I don’t like longer gowns. I’m a tosser and a turner in bed, and I just end up wrapped up in fabric.

I only wear a tshirt to bed (and undies). I hate having things on my legs when I’m sleeping. And I don’t want the bulk of a nightgown around my legs. I LOVE LOVE LOVE sleeping when it’s colder. If I’m warm, I can’t sleep. If I could keep the bedroom around 65 I would, but DBF disagrees, so we have it at 69. He has extra blankets and sleeps in sweats most nights.

Just a tshirt and my underwear. I wear 2 pieces, pants/shorts before bed to lounge around in, then take the pants off to sleep. If need something on my legs to keep warm then our house is too cold! ha. I have flannel sheets on our bed also, and I'm in my 50s so I run hot.

I hate PJ's ... too hot for me! I sleep in nightgowns that go just below my knee ... long sleeved in the Fall/Winter and short sleeved in the Spring/Summer ... I guess I don't have a problem with them bunching up because I've been wearing them for so long ... when I turn over I take it with me

I buy separates so I can customize something since I am fussy about how things fit me in bed. I don't want anything tight, but I also don't want anything around my legs---pants or a night gown. So I wear pajama shorts and a tank top or short sleeve t-shirt. I tend to buy the shorts one size larger than I would wear in everyday shorts to try have a looser fit. And I try for very light weight t-shirts if I'm wearing one of those. A few times I've purchased t-shirts online, only to find they are way too light/see-through for me to want to wear them out and about, so they become my perfect sleeping tees. If I have an issue with anything being cold, it's my feet, so I've not had to be concerned with my legs, thankfully, because just really can't wear anything that will bunch or twist around them at night. Even as a very little girl, I would take off my pj bottoms or pull my nightgown up around my waist when I went to bed. I would only wear short nightgowns to avoid having a bunch of extra fabric even then.

yoga pants of some sort and a tank top. If it's cold I wear another loose top over that. I must be weirdo after reading everyone's responses. I never wear nightgown- I don't like them bunching up while sleeping BUT truth be told, I stopped wearing them when I was married because my ex-douche thought nightgowns=sex. no thanks. I also stopped wearing pajamas after my house fire. I never want to have to rush out of the house for an emergency in flannel jammies.
