I have a hard time taking someone seriously when they didn’t criticize trump for what they are now accusing Biden of. I have been working and couldn’t watch the speech, but in general Biden is not always a great speaker. That being said, even if it was Obama I am sure the OP would be complaining.

I caught just the last half hour of questions. The more I see him, the more I like him. There is a comfortability, thoughtfulness, and relaxed “realness” that I appreciate and like. He chooses his words carefully. What some read as incoherence I read as an attempt to insult no one, be gracious by changing course if needed. I wish more people were more thoughtful. Obama was exceptional in his speaking skills. Biden has a stutter so that does not help. I really like him.

sassyangel, you’re probably right. I don’t listen to any political speeches anymore—they’re all upsetting. Plus, "look, something shiny!" 😂😂😂😂

Watch the speech so you know what I’m referring to. I’m not up in arms. Just sad that he clearly is not able to engage in a 2 hour speech. I will watch the speech or read the transcript. But, I don’t need to see it to know with certainty that Biden never insulted the reporters. Some reporters like Yamiche Alcindor of PBS have talked about what a nightmare it was to cover the White House during Trump’s administration. He constantly insulted reporters and frequently shouted fake News! If Trump did receive less favorable treatment, it’s not surprising. Trump seems to have missed the basic kindergarten lesson to treat others the way you want to be treated. You will have to refer me to where I said he insulted reporters. I never said he insulted reporters.

Cool now you know how I feel every time the orange bafoon opens his mouth. Suck it up buttercup, you got at least 3 more years of this. So you agree that his speech was pathetic then…. it’s nice to be agreed with on this board. LOL However, it’s frightening that we have 3 more years of dementia. We will be truly effed. We survived four years of demented Trump. Barely. You'll live.

I’m sure many are watching right now. Can you honestly tell me that this is a coherent speech…. He has not answered one question without moving on to two or three different subjects within that question in the last half hour that I’ve watched him. I think that it is a disgrace that they are letting him go this long because he is getting very tired. And confused. Please spare us your fake outrage. You said nothing about trumps idiotic “speeches”

I find it fascinating that this board thinks this was a coherent speech. There were several things he said that were completely non factual. Who here said it was coherent? All I’m reading is people challenging YOUR idea on what is coherent, considering you never said a word about trumps dumbass rambling, lying, and bullshit for 4 years. It’s pretty funny (and you’re totally a hypocrite) for whiny about Biden’s speech when you’ve been a-okay with how trump spoke.

I can't get over the fact that someone claims to have invested two hours of their life listening to someone who they think has dementia and is incoherent. And, someone they don't agree with on anything anyway. Wouldn't it be a lot more efficient to listen to 5 minutes of Fox with carefully edited fragments that make Biden sound like an idiot? Oh, wait... Exactly what I was thinking. What I noticed about her faux sympathy for that poor man whose handlers are taking such terrible care of him and allowing him to humiliate himself in public with his obvious dementia (/end sarcasm) is that it’s almost word-for-word what the right-wing morons on my NextDoor spout every time he makes a public appearance. All the “concern” for his disabilities and shock (shock, I tell you!) that his wife allows him to keep speaking. It’s all nonsense and BS, and obviously it comes straight from the talking heads at Fox or worse. He’s not a world-class speaker, but he’s a good man, a kind man, a competent man, a hard-working man who cares about people and respects the rule of law. He is 10 times the leader and 100 times the man that Trump is. And yes, cindosha, Trump is living rent-free in my head, kinda like Adolf Hitler is, and the KKK, and that wackadoo in North Korea. I’d love to not have to worry about any of them.

Don't you love how when the right posits a theory they bring all the video, data, examples, etc. to bolster their position? I don’t need to bolster my position. Everyone watched the speech. You know exactly what I’m talking about. There is no theory. Nothing I said was incorrect. His answers to the questions the last 40 minutes of his speech were extremely jumbled. He tried. He just wasn’t successful. Yet we all (those who don’t have their heads up the GOP’s butt) sane people can understand what it is he’s conveying.

And now you’re worried about deflecting, too? I haven’t seen the speech but I can guarantee President Biden never insulted the reporters. When trump didn’t like a question, he just insulted the reporter and shouted Fake News! Somehow that behavior was OK with you, but now you’re all up in arms when President Biden deflects? Watch the speech so you know what I’m referring to. I’m not up in arms. Just sad that he clearly is not able to engage in a 2 hour speech. He lasted longer than any trump speech ever given. And he didn’t destroy America doing it!

Or insults. I heard that Trump went on Mark Levin’s show to bitch that the press is nicer to Biden than it was to him. 😆😆😆 That’s not untrue. You earn respect. Biden has earned it, trump never did. Trump himself has said that he attacks and degenerates reporters because it causes people to not trust them.

Isn't it amazing that Trump is so unpopular in this country that even an old guy with a speech impediment could beat him handily in the election. No wonder he wants people to think there was some kind of election fraud -- I'd be pushing that pile of crap, too.

I was just thinking about Presidents who are/were good speakers. Since I’m old, I remember a lot of Presidents. I was young -in elementary school-when Kennedy was shot, but I remember him clearly. And I have since listened to some of his speeches. Great speaker.
LBJ- Not a great speaker, but not terrible. I remember the speech in which he said that he would not seek, and would not accept-the ‘68 nomination.
Nixon-also not a good speaker, correct, but the opposite of dynamic
Ford-Just no.
Carter- No. He had a lot of policy know-how, but not a good speaker
Reagan-Oh yes. Whatever his faults, the man could talk
G. Bush 1- no, he was an awkward speaker.
Clinton-yes, good speaker, but sometimes he talked too long
G. Bush 2- Heavens no.
Obama-as good or better than JFK, imo
Trump-blech no, no, and no
Biden-nope, not a good speaker. Never has been.

WTH?? does that even mean?!! LOL. living rent free in your head?! lordy. It is about Trump though. You are comparing him to Trump. So it's also about Trump and what we had to listen too and know that what he was saying was total lies for 4 yrs. But you were ok with that? hmmmmm.... That wasn’t me comparing him to Trump. My OP was about Biden’s incoherency in this speech. You can't have a discussion about President Biden's alleged incoherence without acknowledging the many, well documented examples of Trump's incoherent, rambling word salads.

I’m not Biden’s biggest fan, but if your choice is between Biden and any of the lying conmen and grifters in the MAGA camp, I’m going with Biden. For anyone who supported Trump to complain about Biden’s deficits as a speaker is ludicrous.

Let's review some of Trump's most idiotic, rambling incoherent speeches. This statement from John Oliver is an excellent description of Trump's speeches www.thewrap.com/john-oliver-trump-nuclear-incoherent-video/“Holy s—. That is not a functional use of language,” Oliver reacted. “That is a drunk driver crashing a pickup truck full of Alphabet Soup. Trump’s actual speech patterns sound like when you write a long text by choosing only the predictive text your iPhone suggests for you. An iPhone would be a more coherent president of the United States,” he addedwww.cnn.com/2020/07/15/politics/president-donald-trump-rose-garden-speech/index.html "And then I did Europe when I started seeing what was going on in Italy, and Spain, and France and other countries in Europe, I did, a ban on people coming in from Europe that would have been disastrous for our country also."He did Europe. And he did a ban. Even a second grader would have been more articulate. "They talk about cases, and the cases are created because of the fact that we do tremendous testing."No, the testing wasn't tremendous. And testing did not create cases. "You look at the Intracoastal in Florida, you look at the lakes you see thousands of boats with Trump signs, American signs.". "You look at what's going on, you look at bikers for miles and miles riding up highways proudly with their signs." People driving boats or riding motorcycles is not a scientific poll nor is it evidence of election fraud. There was so much incorrect material that he would have to live tweet very long threads to cover it all. Crazy. Oh, something else unrelated to what you said but mentioned above: every politician in the history of ever has mastered the art of answering the question you wanted instead of the one you got. That’s not mental deficiency. It’s PR 101. Anyone who says otherwise is being disingenuous at best.

I didn’t see Biden’s speech, but for you to complain about incoherence and what you perceive as dementia, yet nary a peep from you about TFG’s incoherence, dementia-like behaviors, also, LYING, during during his term is hypocrisy. You had no standards for four years. Now, all of a sudden, you do. HYPOCRITE.
