Do you keep a roll of wax paper in the kitchen? If so, what do you use it for?
I have the same roll I've had since I was scrapbooking a lot and used it in crafting. I keep it in the kitchen now with all my other kitchen wrap stuff but I have no use for it.
Yet, I can't bring myself to get rid of it. I grew up using wax paper for everything. My mom would line the cake pans with it. Now I use parchment rounds.
My grandma never bought 'baggies' so she'd wrap my sandwiches in wax paper for my lunch when I spent the night there. She'd use a little piece of string to tie up the sandwich for me. I loved those wax paper sandwiches cause they came from grandma.
IDK why but I think I must be sentimental about wax paper or something, lol.
Curious about what you guys think/do.

My roll lasts me forever. I usually only use it to wrap-up homemade cookie dough when I need it to sit in the fridge. And I make those butter cookies once a year at Christmas. lol

I'm afraid to get rid of mine. I've mainly used it for crafting, too. But I still see recipes that call for it sometimes.

I just threw out an almost full roll of wax paper that was at least 20 years old! I'm renovating and getting rid of so much stuff! I never used wax paper so I have no idea why I had it! I need my Press 'n Seal and non-stick aluminum foil though ...

and it just occurred to me that I said "Baggies" and I hadn't thought of that name for them in YEARS. That little nugget was just stuck in my brain somewhere, lol. Memba these?

The only thing I use it for is to cover things when I reheat them in the microwave. If I ever use up my box, Iāll buy a reusable microwave cover.

I keep it for nostalgia reasons too. If I brought my lunch to work Iād use it with bakers twine.

We use it for crafting and candy making. My mother used it to draw quilting templates on. A roll lasts us years.

When I bake cookies, I will use wax paper under my cookie cooler thing to catch the crumbs... I think that is the only time I use it.. and I have had the same roll for a few years now...

I usually only use wax paper when I am baking. After the cookies cool enough on the rack I put them on the wax paper to cool completely. And I used it when I package up the cookies as a layer. Otherwise, it is not used much at all! I still say baggies!

I use wax paper when I decorate cookies with frosting or between homemade pancakes/waffles to keep them from sticking in the freezer.

I have a roll that I've had for at least 10 years. It was purchased for a foundation paper piecing class at Quilt Festival. Now I just print out the blocks on my printer and haven't used it for much in years. In my quest to use up stuff hanging around, I used it this year, instead of the usual foil, to spread out my Christmas trash for hardening. For baking I now buy precut parchment paper - round for cake pans and half sheets for the cookie sheets. If the parchment doesn't work, then I use aluminum foil. Cling wrap and press 'n seal have never worked well for me. MichyM - I was excited about your link until I saw the hand wash requirement. Someone in this house ignores those rules and throws it all in the dishwasher. My goldtone cookie sheets look like cr@p now.

Well, you had me until it said, hand wash only.Ā I hate hand washing.Ā Ā Nothing sticks to it so washing it takes a whopping 30 seconds. It is a miracle pan and clean up is sincerely a breeze. I love it enough that I send one to my son and his partner. They love it too.

I use it when I'm baking. I'm a haphazard, messy measurer, so I tear off a piece and measure/level off things like brown sugar or confectioner's sugar. I fold the waxed paper and put the overspill back into the package.

I use it for covering things in the microwave, grating cheese, wrapping sandwiches for picnics and on the counter for cooling cookies. I always have wax paper in the kitchen.

I do have a roll. My mom would always lay out newspaper and put wax paper on top for cookies fresh from the oven.

I use wax paper between layers of cookies or bars when I'm packing in tupperware.
I also sometimes use it to pound out chicken when I'm not in the mood to fight with the plastic wrap.

I use it all the time for covering open dishes in the microwave. I used to use paper towels but they would get moist and sag into the food. Before I started using it in the microwave, I probably had the same box for 20 years like everyone else.

I use about one roll a year. Most of it gets used as a liner between layers of cookies. It also comes out when I use a meat tenderizer. A friend in Switzerland just asked me to send her 2 rolls. I thought using one roll a year was a lot! What on earth is she doing that she needs 2??!!

I use it when I need to flatten chicken. Keeps the chicken juice from going everywhere!

I use it all the time! Last night, I used it between leftover waffles. We had breakfast for dinner, and I made all the batter into waffles. I put the leftover ones in a container, separated by wax paper so they don't stick. I use it as a divider like that quite a bit.
I also love to make breakfast burritos to have in the freezer, and I wrap each one in wax paper.
I also have parchment paper, but only use that for active baking. Aluminum foil for covering dishes (on top of the food) while baking or refrigerating, and for covering a pan (under the food) to help with messes when cooking in the oven. I also use baggies of various sizes. I think our drawer has gallon, quart, sandwich, and snack sizes right now.
