This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . If you are doing the Team Challenges, this challenge is worth one point for each page/project when you complete all 4. So that's 4 points for completing the Pokey Pea Challenge.

That was a wild and busy first quarter of scrapping. I am looking forward to slowing down a little in the next quarter. kitbop posted that she has Covid. You are in my prayers for a speedy recovery. It was 80 degrees for 2 days last week and today our high was 48. I do believe spring is coming though, because my forsythia is in bloom. I always love to look out the window and see a beautiful yellow bloom. I hope you are all ready for another month of crafting. Stop in and say hello.

Thank you nylene for hosting us Pokies! I love forsythia - so pretty. The house I lived in during high school had a hedge of forsythia running along one edge of the property. Hopefully I can keep up here better this month. Praying for kitbop

Thanks guys - I feel blessed but guilty about your thoughts and prayers - I'm on the road to a speedy recovery and want you to send your prayers to the Ukraine for me, K? Does anyone else feel like that sometimes? Like you shouldn't be asking for more because you've already got enough? You guys are good friends!!! It has been quite a week. I'm off work until at least Tuesday. I can only go back if I have a negative rapid test Monday and Tuesday. Since I am feeling a little better, I think I'll actually be able to enjoy some time off Got my bestie safely retired yesterday. She has already texted me this morning. We've worked together for 25 years, and shoulder to shoulder for 17+ years. She's my work wife. An arranged marriage if you will...and like many good arranged marriages you end up loving the person!!! We knew we were friends. But this sudden change (she was offered a package, she didn't plan to retire for another 1-2 years) has made it apparent to me that I need her beside me now! Lots of tears. It was a HUGE amount of work this week but I'm pleased with how everything went off. I didn't take pictures of her retirement book or cards. Wasn't well enough I made a "flower arrangement" for her - this looked better once out of the bag and in the vase because I made leaves too - and we added "stems" of hiking protein bars and little bags of nuts for her. Untitled by kirstendrew, on Flickr We decorated a geri-chair and she sat in it throughout her tea and they wheeled her out of the building in it. The "crown" ended up being the perfect height that it looked like she was wearing a crown in photos! Untitled by kirstendrew, on Flickr And this is the event sign I made. Each day it had a different person "presenting" (this was the day that Manish brought samosas for us all) and I changed the title (the first day was "Breakfast with Brenda" and all the letters matched and it looked great but I didn't take a picture) and the blurbs and the jokey bit at the bottom. Untitled by kirstendrew, on Flickr **BLM are her initials. It's been a constant joke in past years... nylene - I'm so jealous of your weather! We've been up to 65 one day, but today we're back to 32... I too love forsythia. I have a lilac that has terrible lichen, and I think I need to take it down (sob, it was my favourite). I should put a forsythia in! Or is the lichen in the soil and going to infect anything I plant? Argh. I'm good with veggies but otherwise useless with gardening!

kitbop - glad that you're on the mend and hope you get some relaxation and crafty time out of this. Prayers aren't limited - I can (and will) pray for you AND Ukraine. Wow - you did an amazing job for her retirement - I'm so sorry that you couldn't be there in person

Happy April, Pokeys! Thanks for getting us started again this month, nylene. How are you feeling? Did I see this week that you were not feeling well earlier? What a wonderful send off for your work wife, kitbop. Working with a fun, caring crew like that must make a huge difference in a tough job like yours. Here is hoping you continue to feel better over the weekend, and have negative tests Monday and Tuesday. No flowers here. Our yard is still covered in a couple of feet of snow, although the fields just over the hill are almost clear, and the creeks are starting to run. Dd & family left yesterday. I think the plan is to go skiing in the mountains today. This is the end of dgs's spring break: back to school Monday. I vegged yesterday, but today I need to do some things around here. What are your plans for this month? Sunday, Dh and I plan to attend the community theatre's brunch performance. Dd & family will be back for the Easter weekend. April 30th is the first day of an IRL crop our LSS puts on, and I am registered to attend with justjac. I need to start thinking about what I will be scrapping this month and at the crop. After my flurry of scrapping this last quarter, I still seem to have some unscrapped pic's from fall and winter. And there will be Easter photos. And calendar pages for March and April. So I don't think I will end up with a whole crop weekend with nothing to do LOL.

Nice work @meribeth! A complaint for justjac - you enabled me to buy a limited edition "box" from Kindred Stamps - the Muppets one came back into stock. With shipping and exchange, ugh. I asked DH to talk me out of it. He took one look and said, "but it's the MUPPETS! You can't ask me to say no to the MUPPETS!" I wish I could've bought the stamps without the additional items, but they obviously know their customer can't say no.

kitbop I have to say I do like the additional items in the box. The embossing powder and sequins are the perfect pink and green for Kermit and Piggy. The papers are also fun. And how can you go wrong with a curtain die? I copied some cards from Kindred’s Facebook page so I have used it all at least once. The group I scrap with Friday nights says I should get a commission because of all my enabling.

sounds like a fun month of plans grammadeeLooking at my calender - DD15 will be busy with Girl Scouts the next three weekends - her monthly meeting is tomorrow (so we'll go shopping in the city during it), then camping next weekend, and orienteering the Saturday after that. And our little orange kitten (who is a nice sturdy orange cat now) turns one the 25th. MARIBETHR - nice courthouse pages! great start to the quarter. I scrapped last night also - a new team often jumpstarts my mojo it seems kitbop - those are cute stamps - enjoy!

kitbop, your centerpiece and your posters and decorated throne are fabulous! I'm sure you will really miss her. You spent a lot of time doing that and I know your co-workers appreciate all you did. MARIBETHR, more great courthouse layouts. I will catch them in the gallery where I can get a good look. Linda, I did a quick look on the share thread and you are starting very strong! I'll get over to really look and enjoy tomorrow. I finished a birthday card for Swayzee. She is turning 3 on Easter! Easter Birthday Card It has been a busy weekend. I'll come back to chat tomorrow.

Happy Tuesday! Waving hi and sending my prayers to all of you gals going through some tough times! Hang in there! It is a nice Spring day here. We had a good weekend. We started back going to church in person a few weeks ago and it feels good to do some of our normal routines again. Near this church is a fantastic shopping center. They have Michael's, Joann and Hobby Lobby. So every Sunday, we have been going to one of the stores. I bought some Jen Mcclure pp and stickers from Joanns. (Is that her name?) LOL! So whenever my scrapping mojo returns, I'll be ready! Last Sunday, I went to the store called "At Home." It is like "Home Goods" but much bigger and lower prices. I love this store and since I started redecorating our bedroom with a beach theme, they had great options for me. I am redoing our room in light blue with beach pictures and art. I can't wait to see how it turns out this week! Back in January, I started painting art after a break. It has been such a comfort and joy for me as I am floating through my grief. Not sure when I will share the pieces but when I do I know you all will love them. They are like art journal pages on canvas! Love it! Our computer still has the "blue" screen and today I found out we will have to delete everything! Oh, no! So I will have to see when I am ready for that. Geez! justjac- I love your journaling you have posted. So neat, especially your pretty nails! nylene- That card for your dggd is just the cutest! Your dggks are just the sweetest little ones. I know they make your heart leap with joy when you seen them. maribeth- Wonderful job on your layouts! grammadee- Glad you had a good time with your family!

Happy weekend,Pokeys! Not that weekends mean what they used to for me… We are assembling tax data for the accountant. Not fun. And dh is tired and grumpy from helping his nephew with calving, so that doesn’t help. Canadian deadline is April 30th, but our accountant wants our papers by the 15th. Spent some office type time on this board, too, getting the challenge printable list finished. Thanks Eagle Eye Linda for picking out the needed corrections, and gramma for not shooting me for all the last minute changes. I did manage to get some pages done. Planning to host the virtual crop Wednesday really helped. I finished only one LO during the crop, but it was quick to put together the other two since then cuz all the decisions had already been made. It is good to hear you are getting such peace from your art, kellyr21. Your art journal sounds amazing. Will you be hanging some of your paintings in your redecorated bedroom? But so sorry to hear about your computer! Is there no way you can have someone save the data? How are you feeling, kitbop? Hope you have more energy every day. And nylene, I hope you too are feeling better. My gastric issues seem to have eased off. Hoping they stay resolved. Have fun with Rudy this weekend, joyfulnana. My dgs does not arrive until next weekend. He will be sporting a cast. Broke his arm falling from the monkey bars at school on Tuesday. He has an appointment with a specialist on Monday. I really hope they don’t have to change his cast or put in pins. AnywY, have a great weekend.

Hi, Pokeys! I haven't felt like getting online much this week. I was just getting my innards settled down and my Dr. offered me the 2nd Covid booster. I haven't had reactions, not even a sore arm, but this one really hit me. We have been walking down 3 houses to feed the neighbor's cats twice a day while they are out of town. I had to stop to rest twice in that walk. I couldn't catch my breath. My feet felt like I had giant balls of mud stuck to my shoes and I could hardly lift them. I slept nearly all day for 2 days. Today I feel like I am just extra tired, but am breathing just fine. I called Em and she reminded me that she had that same reaction after her 2nd shot but it lasted quite a while. The booster didn't bother her at all. At least I feel that I am well protected. We are planning to go back to Church tomorrow, but will will be masked. (probably the only ones, but that's ok) kellyr21 , I can't wait to see what you have painted and I'm so glad they have helped with the grief. I also look forward to seeing what you have done with your bedroom. Spring is a great time to do something new in the home. Is Ron ready for his event? grammadee , I am sorry about your DGS's broken arm. I hope it heals without any further intervention. You have been busy scrapping and using mixed media on your chipboard. I am really impressed. You have some beautiful pages done. Linda , I can't keep up with all you do. I have loved your pages and the journaling you have done lately (and years ago). It's fun to see your kids as youngsters even though they are now mostly grown. I had to laugh at the "vintage" page. I have just decided to admit I'm vintage. I think I have to since I show up on the 1950's census! MARIBETHR , I left love on your courthouse pages on your Flickr acct. I think you can see the comments, right? It must be a private acct. that you have given me access to. Great job on them. I still need to get another photo to you. At my next dental appt I will drive over and get a photo. kitbop and justjac , I love the Muppet stamps you bought. I really like all the character stamps that Kindred makes. I wish I liked stamping more and did a better job with it. It just always seems easier to "cut something out of bright paper" instead of stamping and coloring. Can't wait to see what you do with them. I thought I would drop in on the crop today but it looks like no one is hosting. I left you a note, kitbop , about hosting week after next. I'm getting brave and hope it can go smoothly. I set up a Google Meet with DH's brother (who is on hospice), his wife and visiting daughter, DH's sister and husband, and a nephew. It took 3 tries and 30 min. to get everyone on, but it was nice to see and talk to one another. We had one nephew who never made it on, but he is not tech-savvy and his assistant wasn't there to help him. I would like to be able to take my turn hosting our online chats. Have a nice rest of the weekend, everyone.

Hi everyone! I feel like I've been away for a month and it's only been a few days lol. kitbop the retirement party looks like it was fab! And so much fun. I love that chair! LOL! I'm sure you are going to feel the loss of your bestie for awhile. At my job, I'm the work wife to my boss lol. Poor guy he actually has two. One in Indiana and me lol. I hope you're feeling better! kellyr21 it's so good to hear you are making art again and I can't wait to see what you've painted when/if you decide to share! Your bedroom redo sounds like heaven. So relaxing! I've been getting the urge to throw out all my furniture and decor and start fresh. That's not in anyway logical or affordable LOL! But I'm ready for some changes and freshness. justjac, I'm glad I missed out on you enabling people about stamps! Stamps have been my weakness lately. I have what feels like a ton and I need to use them. Mine are mostly sentiments and hearts, stars, etc. Nothing I would need to color. grammadee my taxes are done, but I need to pay my city taxes. KC has a 1% "earnings tax". If you live or work in KC proper you have to pay that tax. Ugh. That's a lot of supplies I don't get to buy lol. It sounds like you have a busy month with family planned! nylene I hope you feel better soon. You should have a robust immunity now! I think I'm going to hold off on my 2nd booster until closer to fall so I have max coverage for winter. Linda I love your pages in the sharing thread! How are DS and DD doing now that they have both flown the nest? Cody, Rudy and I all have the most horrible cold the past two weeks. It's been miserable. I would take a stomach bug that kept me in bed for two days and was gone over a cold. I have not missed colds! Work is steadily picking up but fortunately we have the coverage so it's not been bad yet. I've been busy taking care of things that I let go during the past two years - my mammo is done - all clear. And I finally got my eyes checked and picked up my new glasses today. OMG what a difference! Now I have to make myself wear them indoors. For some reason it bugs me to wear them all the time, although I can clearly "see" I need too lol. I haven't scrapped yet this quarter. I thought about seeing if there was a crop tonight, it's getting that time of year where it's hit or miss again I think. I had Rudy last night, which was fine, but I was awake at 4:30, and as soon I sat up for a bit I started coughing and there was no getting back to sleep. The two of them went to see Sonic 2 and Rudy wanted me to come but I knew I would either fall asleep or be coughing because the theater was too warm and have to leave so I opted out. I took a very hard 2 hour nap instead. I'm still groggy from it, so I'm sure I'll just end up vegging with Abby on the couch tonight lol.

Hi kellyr21 - your room sounds lovely and peaceful. I'm glad that art is a comfort. ((((Hugs))) - blue screens are no fun at all for computers grammadee - good luck with the taxes - I finally got mine done last week and it was such a weight off my shoulders to hit submit. I always dread them. nylene - ((((Hugs))) hope you're feeling better now. Sorry if I implied you're vintage - there's just something about an old black and white photo like that - it gives as vintage feel. Good job setting up a Google Meet. Hello kitbop joyfulnana - I hope you're feeling better too. Good job catching up on the medical stuff - I'm mostly caught up but not quite. Older DD and DS are doing really well. I had to laugh the other day though - I've had an alarm set on my phone and before that even - for what we call "fives" - basically the kids do their chores and I finish up laundry, dishes, and prep for dinner etc... I was talking with DS and his phone beeped - he had to go, it was time for fives - they had decided they needed to do that also. DD just got her VA learners permit (after nearly 7 years on her FL one) - hopefully DS can do what DH couldn't and get her actually driving. DD15 is camping this weekend so a quiet house. DH went out yard saling this morning and came home with all kinds of goodies including an antique German folding rocking chair - very cool. I've been identifying and labelling photos - getting loads of organising points this month. I did get the hydrangea I picked up at Aldi planted.

LOL, Linda , you did NOT imply that I am vintage. I have just been doing some reviewing of the 1950's census during the week and realized that I have to admit that I fit the vintage image. Not once did I get that implied from your page. I was just giggling that your aunt wouldn't want to be! kitbop, I'm sorry, I meant to ask how the Covid is doing? It sounds like you are not on the mend quite yet. Hang in there and take care of yourself. joyfulnana, did I miss that you haven't felt well? I'm sorry and hope you will feel better quickly. Are you having a Rudy weekend anyway? You are brave!

Happy Saturday! Waving hi to all you peas! It's been HOT out here! Today was cooler but still warm. I got lots of cleaning and redecorating done this week. Tomorrow, I will be going back to that home store to see if I can find a few more beach theme items. So far the room looks so good and fresh for Spring. So resting today and just a few more things to do around here. By the way, my dh is being honored with a special award from this non profit organization he supports. They are hosting a light dinner award ceremony next month and we are so excited! I am trying to figure out what to wear for this evening event. I will keep you posted! linda- Oh, I love hydrangeas! What color are yours. Glad you had a peaceful day. Also. Thanks for the hugs! joyfulnana- Hugs to you! 🥰 I hope you feel better soon. Redecorating has been good medicine for me. I found a beautiful blue quilt and shams from JCP with the discount it was a low price. Then, I got some of our fav pictures and used frames I already had for wall art. I found some other items around here and that is it. I hope you can find some fun things for one of your rooms. nylene- Hugs to you, too! Take your time, friend! Ron's event is coming up soon. So now I am working on a few things to help him out. He is so excited and so am I.

I love the patience you show, MARIBETHR, in carefully laying out those courthouse pages, each with its own colour scheme and special motif, but all so cohesive for your collection. Do you put information about the buildings on the back of the pages? And ITA with Linda: that Discover page is gorgeous. Love the papers and the layering.

I haven't been scrapping but I'm determined to do so tomorrow - anyone doing an online crop? either way - I've already told DH I'm taking a scrappy day. Today was housework and baking bread and the post office. Yesterday was a vet visit with LF (that took over 2 hours - they were behind and then she needed an enema and we had to wait for it to work) and then I had to bathe her and the carrier when we got home. PLus a wake yesterday evening and I set up a compost bin in between.

Oh Linda. No wonder you were exhausted after a day like that! Was the wake for a close friend? And poor LF: bad enough an enema, but then to need a BATH. Hope all is well today. Rats! Dh has appointments in town tomorrow and it would be a good day for me to set up a crop, but unfortunately I need to finish some tax stuff and clean house, so I don't think you want to see--or hear--me doing that. I started out playing with my Spellbinders glimmer foil system last night, then used the results for a card this morning. Decided to put together a couple more cards to finish off my dozen for the month. Not seeing much crafting in the next few days. Cleaning tomorrow. Off to the accountant's on Thursday (with a side trip into the LSS). Dd & family will be here for the weekend and we are hosting dh's sister's family for Easter dinner on Saturday. I was a little panicked after finding out the local Co op did not have one turkey in stock last Friday. But today when I made a grocery run, there were lots and they were on sale, so I was able to get one the size I wanted without completely breaking the bank.
|

Post by Linda on Apr 12, 2022 23:11:42 GMT
Poor LF indeed - it sounds like she might be having fairly regular vet visits between the thyroid and the constipation - we're hoping to get some weight on her - she's down to 4.5 lbs (she was around 7 at her heaviest). So far this year, she's been in monthly. The wake was for a good friend of DH's - I knew him and his family but not as well as DH does. He had been sick as long as I knew him - he had a stroke in 1997 I think and I moved here in 1998. He was only 70 which surprised me a little - I thought he was older than that.
@grammaee Sorry about the tax stuff - hopefully that'll be done soon. Glad you were able to get that turkey - I'm hoping for a lamb roast when I go shopping tonight - that's our traditional Easter meat.

Linda, oh, your poor little kitty. I'm sorry she is going through all that and that means you are going through it too. Hope she does better in the future on her meds. You had a busy day today. I won't be able to be online tomorrow either. We are going to visit a dear friend who was just diagnosed with bone cancer. It doesn't look good for him and he and DH have been friends for many years. grammadee, your cards are wonderful. I left you some love in the gallery. I hope you get all your taxes and house cleaning done tomorrow. My kitchen has been a mess for several days because I didn't have the energy to clean it, but tonight I slicked it up. Just a few more things to do to be ready for company for Easter. We do ham, and I have that ready. Still need to pick up last minute things, but we will be ready. MARIBETHR, your courthouse pages are really moving along. I am amazed at the variations you use and how the embellishments echo much of the architecture. I will leave love in your gallery. We got snow last night and on and off today. It seems weird to see snow on the ground in the middle of April. I'm hoping the cold wind will stop and it will be nicer on the weekend. I started scrapping some pages today but haven't finished them. I have ordered some tiny snowflakes I want to use on them and they won't be here until next week. Then I should be able to finish several pages. It's nice to finally feel better and to have my scrappy mojo returning.
