Of course it’s not.

I want to vomit. As a woman, as a medical professional, I weep for our girls. I have never been a crazy lady politically, but I won't be silenced about this.
What's next? Segregation? Overturning gay marriage?
The immeasurable damage that trump and his cronies have done to this country is vile. Absolutely fucking vile.

Innocently asking Doesn’t it just revert to each state to decide? Yes, but there are already a lot of states with laws on the books banning abortions and trigger bans in 12 states that will go into effect if gets overturned. Access to reproductive health care should not depend on where you live. And the next step for Republicans is a nationwide ban. They're already talking about it. www.nytimes.com/article/abortion-laws-us.htmlAbortion bans have been introduced in 30 states this year, according to the Guttmacher Institute, a research group that supports abortion rights. Bans have passed at least one legislative chamber in seven states: Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, Florida, Kentucky, Oklahoma and West Virginia. They have been enacted in six of those states: Florida, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Arizona, Idaho and Wyoming.
“What we’re seeing right now is the buildup of decades where state legislatures have been adopting restriction after restriction, and now they’re moving to adopt ban after ban,” said Elizabeth Nash, state policy analyst for the Guttmacher Institute. She said the legislation reflected the efforts of increasingly conservative state legislatures moving to take advantage of rightward shifts in the courts.
Several states already have so-called trigger bans, which will make abortion illegal if Roe is overturned or scaled back.
The Guttmacher Institute, which supports abortion rights, counts at least 531 anti-abortion restrictions introduced in 40 states this year. Last year, states passed more than 100 laws restricting abortion, the most of any year since the court decided Roe in 1973.

I am literally shaking with anger and fear right now. I am fucking TERRIFIED. I'm childfree by choice, scared of surgery so I haven't gone for sterilization yet but that fear will need to be faced ASAP. I'm scared that birth control will be next.
If Roe is overturned, there are going to be SO. MANY. dead women as a result. Back alley abortions, pregnancy complications, self inflicted deaths.... it's going to be horrible. I'm scared for myself and for all women. I'm scared for the little girls who are growing up in a country that hates them. I'm scared for the babies who haven't been born yet because they won't even get to have a taste of bodily autonomy. Call me dramatic if you like but I don't give a shit, so many of us were screaming about this when 45 wormed his way in.
I'm thankful to live in New York but I'm scared that the GOP will end up taking the majority in the midterms and that federal bans will follow. Progressive states won't be safe anymore.
If you're in the US and able to vote, GET OUT AND VOTE.

I flipped the channel to Fox very briefly to see if this is being covered. Of course it’s not. It is on their website, top news story. I scanned through the comments. Many commenters are only concerned about who the leaker is. And then you have those placing all the blame for getting pregnant on the women.

I can only hope this will be the impetus for Congress to codify those protections into law. They've had years to codify it and they haven't done it. It's not going to happen.

Reading that made me want to vomit. If this domino goes down there will be a whole string of others poised to fall too. My DH thought I was being overly dramatic when I told him back in 2016 that I was voting blue straight up and down the ticket purely because of the stakes involved with the Supreme Court, and this kind of shit was my greatest fear. When you consider that Trump got Obama’s pick AND Biden’s pick because of that asshole Mitch McConnell, it makes me even more angry.
The Handmaid’s Tale doesn’t seem so farfetched anymore and that’s exactly what the republicans want. Things have skewed to such extremes that I don’t even recognize this country anymore. Everyone, EVERYONE! Needs to get their butts out and VOTE like their lives (or the lives of people they care about) depend on it, because quite honestly it very well might.

Now conservatives are huddling about a nationwide ban.
So here it is. They are very possibly planning to use a nationwide ban as a rallying cry for November and for 2024. These control freaks are determined to do it.

I will remind everyone that they need to look at the policies that each party puts forth. Ask yourself what programs have the GOP come up with to make your lives better? Their priorities will be cultural ones. Abortion bans, very likely contraceptive bans-or at least limitations; and Hunter Biden. Book bans. And on and on.
Look, if you’re not pissed off that the GOP is kowtowing to the far right, then I don’t know what to tell you. If you have daughters, their lives will not be made better by conservative proposals. Get your asses out and VOTE. No matter what. Or we will be well and truly screwed.

The implications for not only losing the right to medical independence and choice, but also, what will the SC take away next. Any LGBTQ+ peas feeling worried? I am.

Any LGBTQ+ peas feeling worried? I am. I didn't sleep either. Not only Obergefell, but also Griswold will be on the chopping block. The GQP will become more brazen. Who's to say the court will uphold election results when the GQP challenges them with false claims? Where is the line?

It's so absurd. You can't ban abortion. They still happen. You can only ban SAFE abortions.

The more I sit on this, the more I realize how much trouble we are in. Legal experts expected this court to get rid of Roe. I'm not sure anyone expected them to actually kill the right to privacy. And if these 5 justices are willing to go that far, with all of the far reaching implications, be assured that next up is going to be protected classes. When people bring up Loving (interracial marriage) I haven't been too worried because Loving relies squarely on equal protection under the 14th amendment so not on the "penumbra of privacy" like Griswold and Lawrence. But if protected classes go, we will lose the entirety of the Civil Rights Act, Title IX, etc. The implications of this for our society are sickening. And sure, it will all go back to individual states, blah blah blah. Most people can't just get up and move. And I contend that women, people of color and LGBTQ people living in Arkansas for example, should have the same rights and protections as people living in New York or Massachusetts.

They also don't want free birth control (or in some cases, ANY birth control) or any sort of assistance that will help a woman who is forced to go through an unwanted pregnancy (welfare, food stamps, etc)
