What I just sent to both my senators in Illinois:
Dear Senator,
The most recent Supreme Court rulings illustrate the politicization and right-wing judicial activism that was clearly the goal of Republicans since the refusal to consider Merrick Garland and the subsequent appointment of Justice Kavanaugh in 2018.
While voting is always important and diligence is required, local, state, and national elections will not remove the danger of this hyperpartisan court. I urge you, Senator Duckworth, and your Democratic colleagues to move with purpose on the expansion of the court and the introduction of term limits. We must engage in direct action to counterbalance the loss of freedoms being enacted by this conservative, partisan Supreme Court, especially considering Justice Thomas's expressed desire to continue this work by dismantling decisions like Obergefell v. Hodges.
Thank you for your continued work, and I look forward to both your response to me and your response in direct and purposeful action in the Senate.

We must start at the local level. Your state Legislature is who votes in bills. If you have GQP leaders it won't pass.. Another alternative is to advocate to have Pro-choice on the ballot.
Must make the point for PRO-CHOICE not pro-abortion

So Thomas thinks Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell are all ripe for overturning but not Loving v. Virginia? Fucking delusional. Well no, of course not, because they'd be exempt. In the same way that *their* daughters will have access to a safe abortion if they're raped while out on a date. Although I bet if they could figure out a way to ban inter-racial marriages among just the Democrats they'd do it.  . . . |

Frankly, I blame the Democrats. There has been plenty of time to fight dirty just like the republicans but they didn't and this is where we are now. They actually showed us who they were, out in the open, in 2008 and Dems did nothing.
I'll still vote blue but if the Dems had played at the level of republicans, we would not be where we are.

There was major speculation about some one on Alito's side released the draft... Nothing... Tap tap tap waiting.. Seems Roberts has been staying very quiet now that he has an investigation, requiring all clerks to turn over their phones etc. Nothing about Justices turning over theirs, or anyone who also had access to the trash etc ... |

They believe the states - "the people and their elected representatives" to quote Alito - should decide about abortion. However, the city and state governments, just yesterday, were banned from deciding who can carry a firearm in public. Prolife? I think not.
