Possibly they understood that she meant to say "right to life" and just let the stumble go? I have never heard of her until this, but I have a hard time believing that even if she is a white supremacist, why would she bother to say that out loud in a speech if she's just going to back track on it when someone calls it out? And she seems intelligent enough to have put some thought into it while supposedly writing those words in her speech, to know someone would, especially in this political climate. I understand I could be wrong about her, but the thought process attributed to her meaning to say that just doesn't make sense to me. Thanks to some extreme gerrymandering, I now live in the Illinois 15th district that Mary Miller and Rodney Davis are competing to represent. I can assure you that Ms. Miller is far from "intelligent," and you *are* very wrong about this. I have zero doubt that she meant every word she said. She has a known history of inflammatory speech. It sickens me that she has been my representative for these past two years. I'm so sorry. For many years, I was represented by Pete Roskum in the 6th, and he was such a sack of rat turds. Finally, blessedly, we were able to turn the 6th blue. It's really hard when your elected official does not represent your values or policy positions. But this is beyond that now. These candidates are dangerous and detrimental to human rights. It's beyond taxes and funding programs. They want fascism.

I’m gerrymandered into a district now represented by some Trumper character, who as far as I can see does very little but cut ads and rail against socialism. Yay. 🙄 The local yokels seem to like him. This is not a good thing.

I don't live in District 6, but I'm literally a just a few streets away. Most of my neighborhood is in District 6. I'm in one of the 'antennae' of District 8 and have a great Rep right now, but I shudder to think about the Joe Walsh days, and Phil Crane. It really can change just like that.

Her husband is a Republican Illinois Representative who displays a Three Percenter logo on his pickup truck. The couple appeared rather out of nowhere to win their elections during Trump's presidency. But they sure do seem to have a lot of money supporting them! Her behavior, rhetoric, and attitude are fully equivalent to MTG and Lauren Boebert. But now, it appears that many Republicans are even disavowing her. The word on the street around here is that the latest gerrymandering is a purposeful attempt to get rid of Mrs. Miller by pitting her against a long time popular politician in Rodney Davis. I used to have some respect for Rodney Davis as he seemed committed to serving the agricultural communities in his district. But he has changed his tune of late and has also hopped on the "the election was stolen" bandwagon and backing Trumpkins. Having met the man, I *know* he is intelligent. Sadly, he will not be punished for his alliance with the crazy people as he is the least of the two evils competing for a now even more solidly red district. Thank you for the insiders’ perspective.

So it seems to me that she wouldn't have purposefully chose that statement when writing her speech. Going by that logic it made more sense to me that it was a horrible slip of the tongue. LIke I said though, I don't know anything about her, so I will leave it to you all that do and bow out. Especially after being told to go kill myself in a lake of fire.

I just asked a question. How to you expect people to react when you defend and continue to defend a white supremacist? Sure, your perspective is possible, but more than likely, at best, it is was a Freudian slip. She has made white supremacist remarks in the past, quoted Hitler and is courting the far right MAGA voters.
Her comments and the subsequent cheering by the crowd of Trump supporters are offensive, especially in light of how women of color will be disproportionately affected by the reversal.

I missed the ring of fire comment the first time around but just went back to find it.

I'm not going to comment on her comment, my perspective is kind of irrelevant. That's VERY different from when you said you agreed with And when you said "As Dr Martin Luther King said “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” I am not surprised that people have strong reactions to your defense of a white supremacist. I gave another perspective of what might have happened that WASN'T racist. Don't try to say I was defending a racist statement, because you know damn well I was NOT doing that and that I did not deserve to be told to go kill myself.

How do you pretend you're approachable and reasonable? And.. I don't know you, have no history on you and don't have any interest in playing that game.. The hardest part? I agree with 66.66% of the bullshit angry mess I hear here. But, it's really tough to not feel marginalized and treated like shit.
I made the above post. My hope is people read it and are like... ohhhhh that's how we come off.. that's not helpful to ANYONE~!!!! revisit....
Then we have a productive conversation.
Instead.. it's burn in fire you horrible person. All of you that feel like we aren't 1000000000000000% right.
NO, no room for collaboration or talking as humans.

pixiechick - Nope, not going to engage with you anymore or get sucked deeper into your deflection. The only point that I was trying to make is that I am not surprised people have strong reactions to your continued defense of a white supremacist. Miller has a documented history of white supremacist, racist comments. She deliberately, intentionally, purposefully quoted Adolf Hitler. Call it whatever you want, an alternative perspective or explanation. You are trying to explain and defend the indefensible.

These women here can continue to tear our framework and lives and allow the place to be burnt to the ground, or conversations can be had and choices made. I think it's silly that the pontificating PEAS think they are changing hearts and minds. Instead, they could be having actual conversations and real progress could be made. We could be women! Half of the voting block! Instead, they'd rather be superior. Now is not the time. We all have this in common. Few Republican women are the far Evangelical Right. Most of us are pissed off to do "all the right things" and be marginalized.

because if you read pixiechick's posts, she demands precision from others and loves to point out tiny inaccuracies in other people's posts.. I tried to think of what "tiny" inaccuracies I point out and the only thing I can come up with is that I ask that you don't change my actual words into other words in order to continue arguing, and don't move the goal posts because you can't credibly dismiss a fact that you don't like. Both things you do and hardly tiny. Pretty significant in order to have a real discussion. If there's something else I do besides that, please point it out with links, so that I can look at the issue and correct it. Otherwise, don't make vague accusations that you can't back up, because it doesn't do anything to further conversation and it really doesn't make your argument on the topic correct.

Are you saying for that I deserved to be told to kill myself in a lake of fire? Because that's what it looks like, you're saying. Please clarify. No one told you to go "kill yourself in a lake of fire" for goodness sake. That wasn't what the poster said. "please go jump in a lake of fire" is what the poster said and it means = Go to Hell. for most people or F*** off by others. That saying is an interpretation of an old biblical reference to Hell. Hell in the bible was referred to as the ring of fire. You have a habit of twisting everything to fit your narrative of making excuses for white supremacy with a " poor little me" stance and accusing others of saying things when they didn't.

Hey, here’s a brilliant idea…stop engaging. 💡 You know, you're totally right. I shouldn't have bothered, because this went exactly as I pictured and the victim/bully card got pulled per usual (with hyperbole of course), but I was angry and in the moment. Tell me to stop being a stupid bitch next time, LOL! (I know, you tried.)

BTW, lest anyone think I ACTUALLY meant for someone to jump in a lake of fire, that is very clearly hyperbole. I am not telling people to walk into geysers, folks. I have never heard of or seen a lake of fire that would be accessible for anyone to walk into (though I'm told the Cuyahoga river once caught on fire because it was so polluted but that was in 1969 so I think we're safe now). People. Come on.
But, you can absolutely chew on jeans if you defend white supremacists or "both sides" a situation where people are literally in danger because of their identity. I absolutely meant what I said there.
Have the day you deserve!

Wait...please explain how Republican white women are marginalized despite doing "all the right things" and how "these women here" "tear our framework." Who are "these women" and what is the "framework?" If it weren't for people fighting against corrupt systems, you wouldn't be able to vote, own property, or have a credit card in your own name (granted in the early 1970s). Those rights didn't come without serious conflict. They did not come through conversation. Sorry. They just didn't. I need context for these comments, because I really don't understand them.
