Welcome the the 3rd quarter and a new round for the Paper Posse! kitbop scrappinwithoutpeas AussieMeg jjpeapea joyfulnana MDscrapaholic Chinagirl828 christinec68 angel97701 tc tampascrapper boymom5 FurryP vexedangel **GypsyGirl** pantsonfireThis is our chat thread - I'll try and ask questions to keep the converstion flowing and so we can get to know each other a little more. If you have questions about the challenges or points, this is a good place to ask - if I don't know, I'll find out. Don't forget to go set challenges in the Q3 challenge thread - think about what you want to work on this Q or what you want to challenge yourself to do/use, or even what you always use/do on a layout/card/project - and set challenges that'll earn you points for those things. Remember there aren't points for shopping and/or being frozen unless someone sets a challenge for that. Good luck everyone! And for the first question of the Quarter - why did you choose (and or what does it mean?) your user name? Mine's easy - it's my name but that's just my display name here, to tag me you'll have to use @ homeschoolmum which is the user name I signed up with and used on the original 2peas (for those whole 500 posts in over a decade, lol) - that name is because I used to homeschool my kids and well mum because I'm British as well as American and mum is what my kids call me.

Hi Linda!! Thanks for being our team leader! My user name is also my name - the c is the initial of my maiden name and I was born in 68. I'm super clever...LOL I'll have to think up some challenges. I'm the worst at it bc I don't think I've met any of the challenges I set.

christinec68 - sometimes when we set challenges, that happens. Try and pick at least one you feel will be easy for you - is there a technique or colour or product you almost always reach for?

Well when I decided to come back to pretty much just be part of the scrapbook side and also to defend myself and smash rumors, I remembered the photo that is my avatar and thus my new name. 😁 Felt it represented a situation.

Thank you for the tag Linda. I will admit to a moment of panic when I opened the thread, because half of my house is empty and covered in dust from construction. But I did keep a few scrapbooks and supplies, as well as boxes of old photos out of storage, so I will see what I can get done. Not promising a ton of points, but hope to do better this quarter! Are points being given for other creative things this time, or just scrapbook related? Some variation of my user name has been my email for 20+ years. It came from having moved many times in my life, both as a child and adult, and friends joking that we were like gypsies. The first 36 years DH and I were married we moved 18 times! There are a few 10 month moves in there as well. Note: to tag me you will have to use @ gypsygirl because this board won't let you use symbols when setting up an account.

**GypsyGirl** - I can relate to moving a lot - we've settled down a bit now but I lived in 10 houses in 5 countries as a child and 11 more houses/flats in 4 states before I turned 30 - we bought our first house at 29 and lived there for 9 years and in the next one for 12 and we've been in this one for 18m good luck with the construction - and no worries about how many points you earn or don't earn - just have fun! As for other creative things - this is what grammadee posted so yes! "M-3: Other Crafts Challenge. As with any craft, earn TEN points for every hour spent crafting. When you finish a project of ten hours or more, give yourself a BONUS of ONE HUNDRED POINTS! Post your completed projects in the linked thread on NSBR."

I am certain I will at least get some sewing time in as that room was left intact. It's my haven from the chaos that the rest of the house is in!

Hello, team My user name is a shortened version of my real name. My younger sisters when they were born and started talking couldn't say the full version of my real name so it got shortened to TC eventually and I've used it in family and friends situations ever since. So happy to see the "other crafts" option. My September goal for myself is Stitching September where I plan to work on cross stitching and sewing projects each day. I should be able to keep the points rolling. July is "Just Finish July" (thanks to Linda 's suggestion). I haven't figured out my focus or at least my alliteration for August yet. It will need to be something related to using up products. Annhiliate August? Still toying with it.

Hello all. I’m hoping to be more active this quarter, but we will see. Life doesn’t ever seem to slow down much! I do have some projects I want to complete but the memories seem to be pouring in faster than I can document!
My user name isn’t too creative. Just Boymom5 cause I’m a mom to five boys.

Hi Linda and team members! tc, I love alliteration. You can tell by my layout titles My name stems from my signature - when I sign "kirsten" it just squiggles into "Kit". People actually think that's my name. My DH jokingly started calling me "kitbob" or "kitbop", so I ran with it. Looking forward to a fresh burst of mojo that usually accompanies a fresh quarter Based on the conversation about alliteration I'm going to post a recipe challenge for the quarter - watch for it! (we'll have Jump into July, Alliterate August, Stash-bust September, Quarterly Quads, Three time's the charm)

Since I also grew up moving (5 towns/cities) and my parents always rented a house first, then purchased after 6-12 months (which meant 2 moves each town), I always missed not having a permanent home. Because of that, we kept this house for the last part of the moving so that DD would have that permanent home I missed out on. DH grew up on a single home, so he never fully understand my issue.

Hello team. My username is the title of a demo from many years by one of my favourite bands (the final song ended up being called China). The numbers are completely random, when I signed up to limewire a million years ago someone already had my username so it randomly assigned numbers as a suggested name, and I just went with it.
I kind of wish I'd dropped the numbers when we started here, but there was another Chinagirl on the old board, so it seemed easier to just keep the same name when I joined up.
I'm also another person with deep roots, my parents still live in my childhood home, and it's actually the house my Dad grew up in, it first belonged to his grandparents. I've lived in my current house for over 20 years, and only had a couple of crappy student rentals in between moving out of home at 18 and buying my current home.

I agree - while seeing lots of different places growing up was wonderful, the lack of a hometown was somewhat less so. DH moved often as a child also but other than his first move from VA to RI at 18m - he stayed in the same city until he was out of high school so he's FROM there. I lived there as a teen and it's my US place I consider to be home - my grandparents lived there most of their lives and my mum grew up there and lived the last 40 years of her life there also - but I'm not really FROM there. And while I usually claim England (my birthplace) as where I'm from...I only actually lived there for 19months between 3 postings so...is it really?

Chinagirl828 - I'm somewhat envious of people like you with deep roots...on my dad's side we had military for 3 generations going back (his dad's side) and railway workers (his mum's side) so no roots really there and while my grandparents on mum's side were born and mostly lived in the town I went to high school and I had lots of cousins there, I didn't really know most of them until I started researching genealogy.

I think one of the biggest differences between Australians and Americans, is that Americans seem to move around soooo much more. Y'all seem to think nothing of moving to another state all the way across the country! All of my friends and family (except one aunty) lives here in Victoria - in fact we are all here in Melbourne, except my mum who lives 1hr 15min away. I love having everyone so close. My aunty moved to Queensland years ago, and has moved back here a few times over the years but always goes back north to QLD.
Also, unless you live in a small town, most kids go to university locally, and live at home while going to uni. (And they pay for their own tuition haha!)
DSO moved across the country to Perth in WA for three years when he was about 20, and loved it.

Checking in!
I am confused about the points but when I start creating stuff, I will try to follow long and then ask questions if I can't figure it out.
User name: It used to be FurryPea on the Two Peas board, but I changed it to FurryP when we moved here. So the P= Pea, and the Furry part comes from my love for dogs. We had a dog growing up, but it was really my parent's dog. My mom gave the food and water, but the dog loved my dad the most. It was not until I had my own dog that I knew what it was like to have that very special bond with a dog. There will never be such a thing as "just a dog" for me.

So great to see so much action here! Yeah! Looking forward to a new quarter like kitbop said because the inspiration is fresh! My name is one that I've used forever, with a few changes . . . Angel and then my current zipcode. Used to use snowangel, but that was taken at 2 Peas. My first name loosely means "snow", and I've collected angels since I was in College for more than 40 years now. Started counting up the number of homes/apartments/dorm rooms/host families I've lived with and I came up with 25 moves in 62 years. The house I live in now is the longest I've lived in one place and we just celebrated 12 years is this home! Wahoo! Thinking we might do 2 more years until DS graduates, then we might relocate. Yes AussieMeg Americans are not adverse to moving from state to state . . . Well we were actually supposed to be almost to our cabin in MN by this evening . . . that changed when FIL was tested positive for Covid on Wednesday, now MIL as well. Both are on Paxlovid as they are over 80. FIL had back surgery less than 2 months ago and has a variety of ailments that he has recovered from. We call him the cat with nine lives. MIL is on night time O2, type 2 diabetes, and had brain surgery with long term infection just before covid hit. Believe it or not they had their second booster just 2 weeks ago! Now DH has tested positive, so I am super glad we are still here in our home. Much easier to care for ILs and sick DH, really hoping it skips me and DS!
No crafting today so far, as I went paddle boarding in the glorious weather we are finally having here. I think DH really encouraged me to go today while I am still feeling good, or just in case I do get sick. Fortunately I have done a lot of pre-planning for the trip, and even had my scrappy stuff loaded in the motor home before I too DS to wrestling camp at Oregon State for 2 1/2 days. I stayed with my mom, very nice little get away, then home to sick DH!

Always happy to help you figure - it's not that hard once you've counted up a couple of projects but yes, that first one...it can be a bit confusing. Love your name - we're cat people here but I did have a dog as teen. angel97701 - I'm so sorry about Covid - prayers that your ILs and DH have mild cases and recover quickly and completely. Hopefully it'll skip you and your DS. The latest variants don't seem to care as much about vaccines unfortunately. Paddle boarding sounds like a fun break!

why did you choose (and or what does it mean?) your user name?
My username is meant to be sort of a play on words with the phrase "scrapping without cease" (hah, I wish I could scrap all day, LOL); so I tweaked it to use "peas" instead of "cease"...ok, yeah it's kind of a stretch! Oh well.

QOTD - who has scrappy plans for the long weekend (Canadians/Americans) or the weekend (everyone else)?
DH and DD15 just left - they are headed to spend a week with DD22 and DS30 and won't be home until next Sunday. And while I do have a to-do list for house and yard - I should have plenty of scrapping time.

Answering qotd, jealous you are getting the house to yourself. I am going to try to lean in to my Just Finish July goal and get some photos on some 2021 pages. Also going to try to tackle a kit or two and get those out of my stash. No work this long weekend but I will be hosting in town family on Monday so I have cleaning, shopping, food prep work to do.

Well, I have a few hours to scrap this afternoon, then heading over to a friend's house for an early evening visit (not scrap-related). Tomorrow, I probably will not have any scrapping time, as I will be finishing laundry and packing so I can travel to the PNW and meet my granddaughter for the first time. She'll be 1 month old tomorrow, and I can't wait - I've subsisted on pictures of her for too long!

QOTD Well since I packed my scrappy stuff in anticipation of going to the cabin, and have yet to go out and retrieve it . . . I decided I would tackle cleaning up my scrappy desk! That includes all the scraps and embellishments that didn't ever get put away, in fact I don't even remember the project they would be used on, wooden bats anyone? Then I plan to do the paper challenge from last quarter, but since it's a "get caught up quarter" on past themes I'm good for organization points. DH's covid is progressing, I know it is recommended to quarantine in your home from covid patients, but with my DS's issues that is not really the best option. So most likely DS and I will get it. DH, who really has to be hurting before he goes to the Dr. finally agreed to be tested last night so I could do a telemed appointment for him. His test line popped up darker and faster than the comparison line! This is the man who waited 2 hours to show me the gash in his head that needed 7 staples, the man who had a non-dislocated fracture of his tibia for a month before he went and had it checked, the man who suffered with a bad tooth for 9 months before he finally went to the dentist. In all fairness though, the tooth had a root canal and it had gone bad--his symptoms were re-occurring sinus issues. He usually toughs things out, but last night he was COLD then hot. Three extra blankets. FYI, Covid inflicted sleep like toddlers, trashing and moving all night! Glad we are not sick at the same time! The ILs are doing okay, glad they are on Rx to help them prevent further issues! Linda, have a glorious week--yes chores, but free time to scrap and do as you like! **GypsyGirl**--construction in your home is never fun. Good luck and look forward to the finished project. pantsonfire welcome back! tc have fun with the other crafty pursuits too! boymom5 I can't imagine that life slows down for you, you must have to make time in your calendar just for time alone with 5 boys and all that goes with that! kitbop I'm glad we are on the same team this quarter Opposite team leaders and before that we always seemed to be on the other team.
