When I walk down the stairs in our house, I count each step to myself in my head. Me too. But it isn't just stairs. It's tiles in the ceiling of waiting room at the doctor, or chairs in a theatre. I don't know why or when it started but I do it whenever there is something to count.

I pour drinks in cans into a cup. I hate drinking out of that weird hole and having to tilt my head back to get the bottom fourth of the can.
Creamer first, then coffee. It stirs itself that way...
If I'm wearing a hoodie with strings, I tuck them in. No dangly strings! Yes, I could just remove them completely, but then I couldn't tighten the hood.
I'm sure I have many, many more...

Iām not quirky, Iām a anal retentive! I like things neat and orderly, to the point that if Iām at the store and I notice something on the wrong peg, I will usually put it in the right place. Or I often start to organize those DVD bins when I look through them. I organize our tables and straighten the place settings at restaurants and if youāre a server who automatically clears the dishes or takes the trash, you get a great tip!

I have this weird habit of holding water in my mouth when I drink. I donāt even realize I am doing it. I will just suddenly realize there is water in my mouth. It is like I forget how to swallow or something and I walk around with that last mouthful. OMG, I do this, too! And not just with water, but with almost any drink. It's been hell trying to recondition myself after developing trigeminal neuralgia. Mine seems most aggravated by cool drinks, go figure. Maybe we are secretly related!

I guess my only quirk (that I can think of) is that if I am going to drink milk, it has to be whole milk and in a glass with ice. No plastic cups or not including ice.

I hate soggy cereal. So I put the milk in the bowl and just put small amounts of cereal in at a time. No soggy Oreo cookie cereal.š

Like others have said, I have a lot. s/o of the chip one above, I do it the opposite way. I like to open my chips from the bottom. First I turn the bag upside down and shake all the salt or flavor that has settled to the bottom to distribute it back throughout and up to the top. Then I open the bottom of the bag and eat what now seems like an evenly flavored bag of chips. I open the bags from the bottom now too. I started doing it when I noticed all the good parts ( almonds and crunchy things ) of my cereal where always at the bottom of the bag. Genius - turn the bag upside down and open it from the bottom. I do it with most bags of food now for that reason.

I mostly drink water and will randomly find myself with a mouthful of water that I haven't swallowed. When I'm a passenger in a moving car, I will move my toes in time to the passing of painted lines that divide lanes on the street/highway; as if I'm jumping from line to line on the tips of my toes while the car moves.

When I blow dry my hair I like to stand on one leg and rest the other bent at the knee on the counter top.
When I drive by a herd of cows I yell ārun for your livesā. When I was in college there was a milk glut and dairy cows were being slaughtered. All my college friends and I would yell at the cows. Iām not even sure Iām yelling at dairy cows, but it seems like good advice.

We also have 3 dogs - 2 are beagles. I always check to make sure there are no ācrittersā on the ground when I let the dogs out. I open the door and yell ārun bunny, run!ā Iām not sure it helps any but I am sure the neighbors think Iām nuts.

I don't know why I do this, but any kind of cookie, brownie, pop tart type food I'm eating, I first break into tiny pieces on the plate or napkin. Then I start eating. I was having coffee at a neighbors once and she brought a plate of brownies to the table. I didn't even realize what I was doing until she asked me if something was wrong with my brownie, like did I find a hair in it or something. Omg, I felt so bad and had to explain that I always do this. Lol

I like things organized, but mostly behind doors. Things that are open (clay and scrap rooms mostly) are a mess.
I also have very weird ways of eating things. I rarely eat them, but if Iām having m&mās or skittles, I have to have the same number of each colorā¦so, if I get a handful, and I have five of one color, and three of another, I will eat two of the five, then one of each color to keep the same amount in each one.
When I used to eat Nutty Buddyās, I would eat them by the layer, eating the pb layer off of the cookie before eating the cookie.
When Thin Mints had the scalloped edges, Iād eat the scallops off first.
When I eat a large, hot omelette, I cut the whole thing into bite sized pieces first so that they will be cool enough to eat when I get to them.
There are more, but those are the ones I remember most.

Mindlessly sort as I eat candies like good and plenty, m&Ms etc. I pair them up and eat them to basically have the same amount of each color until gone. Just one of a color, like m&ms, it goes first then try to keep them even in amounts.
Oddly, I didn't even realize I did this until watching my eldest when they were little. They were playing with their little Winnie the Pooh and Friends figurines and had to have the gang arranged "just so" around the tiny little table. I remember thinking, how strange, hope they lighten up a bit or life could get difficult... as I took the odd man out of the extra pink good and plenty in my palm to even it out.

Whenever my husband fixes something to eat at the kitchen counter (like cereal or a sandwich), he ALWAYS has to take a bite of it after he fixes it but before he sits down. ALWAYS.

We have a couple light fixtures in our house that have 2 switches so you can flip it on or off from either end of the room. When the light is ON, I pay no attention to the switches. But if the light is off, the 2 switches must BOTH either be up or down. I will switch them around if one is up and one is down.

My sister said she once took a shower and as she was drying off, she suddenly realized she still had a mouthful of coffee from earlier in the morning WOW! To maximize the enjoyment I first eat the crust edge all around and then enjoy the large middle section, crust free. I might start doing that My quirk is opening the car window to say hello to nearby sheep whenever we drive slowly past them over the hills. That's so cute, I'm sure the sheep appreciate it It's nice to see you and your cute bunny again! I do not like my food to touch while on my plate. If I am at a restaurant I take my fork and separate my food, before I eat it. Chicken fingers here and fries over there, etc...

When I walk down the stairs in our house, I count each step to myself in my head. Oh, I do this too! I'm a prolific counter. I count everything. I mean everything. Winding yarn, I count. Steps from one room to another, counted. Laundry, counted. Drags off a cigarette, counted. I'm ridiculous.

I like to eat small crackers, like CheezIts, in pairs. Not one, not three, just pairs. Same with m&ms, pairs only. Nuts too.
If at a restaurant for breakfast, I want my eggs and pancakes or waffles on separate plates. No syrup on my eggs, please.
Most food I like separated on the plate. But if I have meat with gravyā¦if there are beans as a vegetable, I like gravy on the beans.

But if the light is off, the 2 switches must BOTH either be up or down. I will switch them around if one is up and one is down. Pam YES!!! Iāve found my people, LOL. We have an overhead light in the upstairs hallway that has a switch outside outside each of the three bedrooms and one at the bottom of the stairs that all work for that fixture. The downstairs one can be whatever way it is but the upstairs switches all have to be the same. They can either be all up or all down but not some weird helter skelter mix of up and down. I too will rearrange the mess of dishes in the dishwasher to the *only* right way that works. DH insists that it doesnāt matter, but IāM SORRY, IT DOES. All those stupid little plastic snack bowls and the little cups that DD likes will all flip over and fill with grungy water if they arenāt in there just so. And DH likes to put the plastic stuff on the bottom rack where it says right on the damn dishes they are only safe in the top rack. I have a set of small rainbow colored snack plates from IKEA that we use all the time. They must be in the cupboard in POYGBI order (Pink instead of red and thereās no purple but there is a dark blue/Indigo) or as close to that as possible. I probably have three dozen pairs of the exact same white socks but they were all bought at different times. We have hard water so my whites donāt stay white, they eventually turn kind of a dingy gray even though I never ever walk around in only socks. Anyway, when I wash my socks I have to sort through them and try to match them up as close as possible in pairs with the same level of dingyness. When I get a giant jug of Jelly Bellies from Costco I will pick out all the nasty ones I hate and throw them straight into the trash. Black licorice, espresso, juicy pear and thereās one other yellow one with green specks that are gross. I scoop out a little 2 ounce condiment cup of beans, pick all the icky ones out and then eat the rest with confidence that I wonāt have to unexpectedly bite into a gross one and then have to spit it out. When we stay at our lake cabin in the warmer months, I sort of keep a mental spread sheet of how many toads/frogs are on the deck, ramp and lawn when I take my dogs out at night before bed, and then give the report to whoever will listen. Typically there are between 2-5 of them out there, hanging out underneath the solar lights on the railing, waiting to eat unsuspecting bugs. I guess Iāve always been borderline eccentric, LOL.
