If I remember correctly, last year the canvas words or window cards were sold out first so I think this year something random and “new” would sell out first as items like plastic stars should have been ordered in gazillion quantities to last. I also think that die cut pack will sell out this year vs being clearanced from the last couple of years. The felt numbers do not have a wow “being bigger than life” factor as previous ones. Felt presents might sell out fast as well. I also think that the velvet ribbon might sell out as a newly tested item.

So many nice things in Ali's release this year. I'll probably get the main kit again and some add ons. I love, love, love the nordic style woodland creatures. I sometimes do a woodland themed tree so they'll be hard to resist. Not feeling the Paislee Press kit, I still have many pieces from previous years, as well as a few of her digital kits. I like the Advent calendar, I bought it last year and think this year is of similar quality, however I only used a small amount of the stickers last time and I need to watch the budget. I saved all the numbered envelopes but haven't come up with a good way to re-use them yet. Any ideas? The 3x8 pack is really lovely and if I didn't have a lot left from last year they'd be in my cart. Looks like they are sized for outside the page protectors again which means you can cut them down into 3x4 cards, I did that last year. I wish the red 8x10 album was part of the release. It seems that if you want it but aren't a subscriber you'll have to buy it in the shop and pay postage. I bet that after I do that, Ali will eventually add it to the December Daily shop add I could've saved on postage? I guess it comes down to how badly I want/need it. I'm okay with the pricing and even the international postage doesn't bother me, the exchange rate is the real killer. I have to add 50% to all the totals! That means my current wishlist stands at AUD$300! Back to the drawing board:'(. I'm not going to read any more posts complaining about $12 postage Just kidding - complain away.

Maybe the puffy santas will sell out quickly? They're $10 but they're quite cute

I know compared to the international postage rate $12 is really not a big deal. I've stopped sending presents to my family because US international shipping rates are insane. Makes me kind of sad. My sister was also getting hit with custom fees and as a single mom on a teachers salary I cringed whenever she was charged. Was so random too. For advent calendars, I've taken some branches put them in a pot filled with beads or stones to keep the branches upright and tied/hung the envelopes from the branches with some festive twine. In each I've included a "voucher" that my kids can cash in. Like an extra 30 mins screen time. Or trip to the cinema. Skip chores for a week etc This is also a nice idea www.etsy.com/listing/1091895290/handmade-advent-calendar-for-kids-wooden?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_ps-b-home_and_living-home_decor-ornaments_and_accents-ornaments&utm_custom1=_k_CjwKCAjwx7GYBhB7EiwA0d8oe39r-nJNzGG-xFnwoKVgJ_sqnZkgdO7rI89x3EoDXeICVSiYPwrfwRoCzI0QAvD_BwE_k_&utm_content=go_12566247314_121162391402_507253802140_aud-1408996296215:pla-308499720158_c__1091895290_123357701&utm_custom2=12566247314&gclid=CjwKCAjwx7GYBhB7EiwA0d8oe39r-nJNzGG-xFnwoKVgJ_sqnZkgdO7rI89x3EoDXeICVSiYPwrfwRoCzI0QAvD_BwEwww.countryliving.com/diy-crafts/tips/g2151/advent-calendars/?slide=9www.countryliving.com/diy-crafts/tips/g2151/advent-calendars/?slide=19www.countryliving.com/diy-crafts/tips/g2151/advent-calendars/?slide=24

Has anyone recovered or painted a chipboard album with decent results?
I have a spare HSN DD kit album that I can’t imagine using again (had 2, used one last year). It’s not precious to me at all, so I don’t mind experimenting with it, but I’d love a little direction on what works or doesn’t work.
If it went well I’d love to recover the album I used too. While I love how my DD turned out, the exterior album is not the right vibe at all.

I got this over the door rack from Amazon to organize my supplies and I think it’s a success: http://instagram.com/p/Ch3NXjGOrY- I got all the little bins and stuff from the dollar store. It needs a few tweaks but overall I’m happy with it for now. It will also come apart quickly so I can store it in the basement until next year I’m going to take some more pics this afternoon so you can see what bins fit. Also waiting on an order from ACOT so I can put the cardboard behind my 12x12 paper.

I've never done December Daily, but scrapbooking about Christmas is something I've always enjoyed. I may just give DD a try this year.
I would love the main kit, but I would probably get annoyed cutting down the 10X8 papers into 6X8. Not sure what I would do with the leftovers. Realistically, it's probably too many supplies for me. I will probably end up getting the digitals so I can resize and pick and choose.
I think I will opt for the Liz Tamanaha mini-kit and the floral album since they seem to go together. If I end up changing my mind about the album not being "Christmasy" enough, I can always trade it out later. It's such a pretty album on its own.
The stamps! I'd better just limit myself to one...just not sure which one, they're all so tempting.

I feel like I’m going crazy… I either want it all or none of it. I had plans already for a stash album, but this is the least “offensive” release I’ve seen ever so I’m tempted to be part of the cool crowd and scrap along with a current kit. I want the advent merely because there are bits of this and that which I like and which would mean I wouldn’t be as tempted to buy other things if I got it (trying to be really vague for those who want to be surprised!) I either want almost all of the add ons or none depending on whether I look at the list in the morning or in the afternoon. I either want the main kit as I like about 50% and have to have that house paper (pretty high for me!), or I want the pp kit as I like her simple designs and the floral… but again I only like about 50% of the kit so I keep flitting between the two kits and the parts I don’t like keep making me change my mind, and then I get angry and rage quit and refuse to get either. I love the floral album, I don’t think it’s worth the $28 shipping to get one. Or do I go all in for the one and only time I can and make their heads bleed for charging me a capped shipping rate and buy enough stuff to last me a decade? Or do I wait until it all goes on sale next year and hope for the best? Ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

When I'm stuck and can't decide, I ask myself am I going to be pissed off/regret not buying if it sells out and if the answer is yes, then I purchase it. The main kit and Liz's kit havent always sold out. Some years they do. But I think its worth the risk to wait for those. Usually the 6 by 8 albums sell out, so if you really want one of those, I wouldn't. May the odds be in your favour !!!

Also the advent calendar didn't sell out until much much later.....so I'd take a risk on that. Especially given the contents.

I agree that the Paislee Press 6x8 album will likely sell out, lg. I doubt it'll be in the sale section next year. Looks like the Joy album will also be gone quickly (not surprised - it's a perfect addition to a line-up with the previous graphic word albums Ali has designed for DD). My quick sell-out pick for this release is the very Felicity Jane-esque chipboard number set. I can't see this staying in the store long. It's refreshing, it's modern yet classic, it's got gold foil. If I happen to be wrong about this, it'll be a good thing...

have to have that house paper I love the house paper too and will likely buy the digitals for that, if I can't find the image somewhere else. Since I'm doing 6X8 I want to be able to print it out to be the right size for a 2-page landscape layout. Has anyone seen how large the 'large plastic trees' are? Yes. They were in one of the instagram posts next to a ruler. I'm going to try to find it and let you know. They did a Q&A session and that was one of the first questions. I didn't watch anything after the main stuff that was posted on the blog.
EDIT: found it and took a screenshot but I can't post here without instagram.
It says they are about 6" tall and the widest tree is 3.5" wide.

This is the first time in about 5 years the I truly like the DD kit from AE...usually there is something off for me that makes me look elsewhere for my project. I adore the floral 6x8 album and really like the main kit. I don't know that the floral album matches with the main kit? But I'm not sure that I want to pick up the PP kit just for a couple of floral pieces to pull it together kwim? I totally had sticker shock at the stamp prices! $28.99 for a 6x8 stamp set? Yikes! Is that normal for a stamp set that size?

The tricky part is where it folds and creases on the spine. Just lay it flat and use a bone folder (very gently) to adhere it. Also, the inside where the paper will meet the inside paper can be challenging. You can either lift up the corners gently and glue the paper underneath or you can just cover them with the paper you use. Basically I used the same technique that people who make their own chipboard binders use on you tube.

Every year I get Ali’s kit but this year it didn’t interest me. I liked a couple of the embellishments but that’s it. I just preordered primas candy can lane. Love the colors and the vintage look.

I might be in trouble. I like way more of the the DD release than I expected, $112 worth with no album, digitals, or anything from anywhere else. I have a feeling I may just get overwhelmed, not be able to decide under pressure, and not buy anything tomorrow, which is okay too.

My husband was in the room when I was watching Ali's stencil demo. She wasn't even two Santas in when he stated, "Where's Waldo?" and now I can't unsee it!
The only thing I want enough to pay the price is the Double Alpha stamp set so hopefully there'll be enough left when I'm also willing to pay the shipping for it.

Ugh. I thought I knew what I wanted to get tomorrow....but I woke up this morning and Ali's kit is drawing me in (again). My actual 'want' list is long today! I've about decided to buy what I want and then sell what I don't.
I also thought I loved the tag stamp set but now I am wondering if I do really need it? Ugh. Decisions, decisions.

What worked best there was using a primer (I used gesso) and then thin coats of paint, letting it dry completely in between. The first time I did it I used painters tape to completely cover the inside but then I figured out that the inside graphics had a slick surface and any stay paint would just come right off with a baby wipe. I also used a baby wipe to wipe off any paint from the gold on the spine.

I need to back and watch the videos… I always regret not buying a main kit when I follow along with Ali, but at the end when she does the flip through, I don't. Because the album is overwhelmingly Ali and I don't want my album to look like that....I think its FOMO for me. I also had a few years where I felt totally overwhelmed and couldn't start because of it. So now I wait until I have my photos, I pick a story I want to tell, and based off the photo, I pick my products. So honestly I can have a mish mash of products in an album, but by keeping my fonts consistent, there is cohesiveness. Last year I ended up mostly using PP and some FYC/IACB and hardly anything of Ali's. I'm so much happier now that I've found a process that works for me.

now I wait until I have my photos, I pick a story I want to tell, and based off the photo, I pick my products. This is my process exactly. I do create a couple of "foundation pages" in advance. But they are pretty much just crafty things I do because I like to do it. Like once I stitched a pocket. I knew I would use it for something. Another time I hand cut these windows to use but then never did. I might actually use it this year. There are a couple of stories I know I'm going to tell and sometimes I get something ready ahead of time but using these things always depend on what photos I have. I have also learned over the years to take both horizontal and vertical pics so I'll have both to choose from.

Ok, its hit me that I have seen that floral pattern before. Felicity Jane had that pattern (or a very, very similar pattern) as tiny envelopes before in one of their DD kits.
