None of the collections released this year really excited me. I've got a set of puffy stickers and die cuts from last years (?) FJ collection, and then a small pile of odd leftover embellishments, and basically no paper. I often use non-Christmas themed papers and embellishments, but without any new stuff to guide me this year I'm not really sure what direction to take my homemade kit.
What are you most looking forward to using in your projects this year, either new or stash, Christmas themed or not?

I’m in the same boat as you. I’m going to do some playing and let the floral album guide me. Right now most of my stash is out so around Thanksgiving I’m going to go through and put away some stuff I know I won’t be using this year. I won the product play class on insta too so I’m hoping for some inspiration. I’m most excited about the simple stories baking line so I’m hoping the retro vibe will pair well with the elegance of the album.

Well, I bought a fair amount this year from Ali and Paper Person, but will work on 2 Christmas projects That being said, I am most looking forward to playing with the stamps and stencils I bought, and I even picked up some mixed media supplies to try out. I am a mixed media newbie, so it will be interesting to see how it goes

I completely forgot that I ordered some pieces of the Artemio Woodsy Christmas collection from France weeks ago. Guess what just showed up at my door, yay!
It is sooo cute! I was never able to find the paper, but I did grab the critter stamps, puffies, wood veneer and some dies. Now it is time to search my stash for some other things to match.
ETA: Crate Paper's Snow and Cocoa collection is a lovely match. Both kits have a polar bear that looks somewhat confused! 😆

What are you most looking forward to using in your projects this year, either new or stash, Christmas themed or not? I picked up the 6x6 Christmas Plaids that's Michael's has in their Recollections brand and the 49th and Market Art Options Holiday Wishes Postage Stamp Washi roll. I'll also get my Cocoa Daisy Modern Memory Keeping kit which isn't specifically Christmas themed but the colors would definitely work. I'm still eyeing the Simple Stories Vintage Christmas Lodge collection though. I think what I'm most looking forward to using is the postage stamp washi. It's such a fun embellishment. I've settled on doing 6x8 with an album I have on hand though dealing with past albums have me seeing the wisdom of the 6 ring albums! I completely forgot that I ordered some pieces of the Artemio Woodsy Christmas collection from France weeks ago. What site did you order from? I speak French with my family so I like to include some in my albums. I haven't been traveling as much lately so ordering might be the way to go!

I found a few pieces on Amazon, surpringly enough. The craft store in France they shipped from is called You Do It. If you search "Artemio Woodsy Christmas" on Amazon, they still pop up. Shipping was $5 to Florida.

I also bought the Madeleine alpha stamp set for DD (and Halloween). I really need to go heavy on stamps for DD this year, to justify the number of Christmas/Holiday stamp sets I now own

That fall stamp and a summer one have already shipped and are on their way to me! Lol I also loved the bold words but I have way to much Christmas this year and couldn’t justify it. Trying to plump up my fall though (and there’s another pie phrase which is obviously needed for the PP pie stamps I got lol). I also recently discovered KBS stamps and love them. I found an out of stock stamp and asked on insta if I might be restocked at some point and Kerri told me to email the shop as ask if there was a random one laying around. There was and they sent it to me! Wonderful customer service.

Also, her new stamps debut at $1 off so shipping is $4 instead of $ 5 (at least that’s how I look at it) Do it!!!!

I really want that Santa album, but in 6x8. So I decided to test cutting down an older album I had laying around. I was able to take 2 inches off the album. I'll do a few things differently for the real album (rulers to distribute the clamps pressure a bit better, you can see slight impressions from the clamps). But happy that this seems doable. I'm thinking of cutting down an 8x10 buildable travel album to a 6x8. @mrsloafbot how were you able to keep enough of the cover and lining paper intact to re-make the edges perfectly? As soon as I started to peel it back it tore. Have you cut down the santa album?

Someone needs to slap my hand and hide my credit card. I am ---thisclose--- to not using the floral DD album and ordering the Joy album. UGH. I love the floral album but Im having a hard time being inspired with it.

I guess I am not helpful.

I love the floral album but Im having a hard time being inspired with it. I'm also probably not much help as I tend to buy and stockpile albums when I find designs I love to cover me through the years when I find the designs less than inspiring. I agree the floral album could be used for non-DD projects so I doubt it will go to waste. If you love the Joy album and it *sparks joy* (sorry, couldn't resist), buy it and use it guilt free.

I love that floral album but I'm afraid it will not match my supplies at all.
I don't use much black or dark colors.
Guess I'll have to buy the KP evergreen digitals.

This is me in that the last 2 years I bought 2 albums. This year I bought the joy and then floral sold out and I was wishing I had also bought it. Fast forward, I am working on a few foundation pages using Ali’s main kit + misc extras, PP Merry and Bright in red and black, and some other misc products and loving the Joy album. The colors and vibe are well matched. that floral is gorgeous, but I completely get why you are wanting the Joy album. I’m super happy with it.

I'm thinking of cutting down an 8x10 buildable travel album to a 6x8. @mrsloafbot how were you able to keep enough of the cover and lining paper intact to re-make the edges perfectly? As soon as I started to peel it back it tore. Have you cut down the santa album? I used an exacto knife to cut the lining paper to it's new edge. And then I use the exacto knife to help peel the paper up; it only needs to be pulled back about a half inch. Make sure some of the cardboard stays stuck to the paper to keep it from tearing. Then I cut the actual cardboard to it's new length, but I make sure to not cut the cover paper. So use multiple shallow cuts to get to the depth you want. Again make sure a small layer of cardboard stays stuck to the cover paper. Then I slowly peel the excess cardboard from the cover paper. At this point, I can trim and fold the cover paper back over the new edge. Not sure that makes sense. I have started altering the Santa album, but I've only done the back side of the album. I am going to work on the front tomorrow. I'll take some pictures to show what I am talking about. That should help show what I am trying to explain.

Texas Scrap those foundation pages are gorgeous, I'm crazy in love with those leafy sprays. Awww, thanks. It’s a Heidi Swapp die and I am not much of a die person, but I saw how she used it and it felt like a multi-use die. It has 4 different spray pieces it cuts at once and I loved how the gold foil and vellum looked with the cardstock all mixed like flowers. And Ali has pieces this year with a similar wreath, spray look so I think it will feel cohesive.

I love the floral album but Im having a hard time being inspired with it. I did this. The floral is going to be saved for something else. I feel like I will use it outside of DD. The joy album arrived and it is way prettier in person. They did not photograph it will for the website.

Thanks @mrsloafbot, that makes perfect sense. I'll have another crack at it later. It's not the end of the world if I mess this one up. I discovered the rings are floppy and don't stay closed very well, so I contacted customer service and they are sending out another whole album - not just a set of rings.

I think it's lovely and would have bought it if I didn't already have an album lying around that needs to used. If it wasn't for the high postage costs I'd still be very tempted.
