I have been journaling. Loosely with journal your Christmas. But I'm also just taking it easy this holiday and feeling all the joy and sorrow in my heart. I want to put together this album because I feel like it's a story that needs to be told and remembered this season. But now I'm left feeling like the products I had initially decided upon just don't fit. Does anyone have a suggestion of Christmas products that just aren't all full of joy? Maybe something vintagey looking? For very different reasons, it's hard for me too, but nothing like what you are going through this Christmas. ((hugs))
I have never had the typical best day ever, magical Christmas type of life, so I have quite a few snarky smart ass type of products. I also LOVE vintage Christmas.
I haven't bought from this shop, but plan to.
Christmas movie stamps
Uncheerful Christmas
Swear Words
Sad Mood
Real Life Thank you for taking the time to put these links together. I see a lot of good things here that I'm considering.

And a happy Monday to all! I hope the nasty cold wave is sparing you if you're in the Northern Hemisphere (sure isn't sparing Europe *blows on fingers*). 🥶 Christmas is less than 2 weeks away, believe it or not. Hang in there, it's about to get chaotic! 🤪 December 12th: SIGN(S) OF THE TIMES // As we look back on Decembers past through our albums and scrapped memories, it becomes undeniable that some things change permanently only to be forgotten if they haven't been recorded. This is the lens of life we're looking through for today's storytelling. Story prompt: Take a moment to slow down and observe what is very typical of the present-day holidays. From the apps you're using to order gifts or plane tickets online for the upcoming family gatherings to voice command systems to help you navigate everyday life, everything right now is very 2022. Ten years down the line, it will likely be different or at the very least look different. Before it all slips away to be replaced by newer, different technology, add it to your treasured December memories. (document how you're tracking parcel deliveries for the final gifts you've bought online - and check to see if you have anything fun and special to screenshot like Amazon's cute gift-laden sleigh emoji to track the delivery truck with your order) (document the apps you're using daily from streaming music to budget tracking and agenda/planning) (document the most used technology in your home and car right now including gaming consoles, mobiles phones, Alexa devices, thermostat, video calls, etc.) Creative prompt: Embrace using (limited) digital scrapbooking for today. Use some of those digital stamp brushes, die-cuts or DD cards you've purchased. Use Google to download the icons of the apps you're documenting and print them out in a different way (enlarged, on vellum, in a monochromatic colour scheme, etc.) for today's story. Don't shy away from the computer for your scrappy fun! Song of the day:

It is going to be a boring week (DD is in midterm week)! Time to document the decorations and some quiet moments around the house. I’m doing the same this week.

Dd is in finals week and took her psychology final yesterday and turned her 10 page paper in Thursday.
Today she is finishing her 10 page paper for English and will turn that in.
Friday is her last final with her art class. The other part of the final was due last week.
Last year I took a photo of her turning in her English paper that was the final. Will do the same this year with her art class. So that will be Friday's spread.
Yesterday is about the tree and Sunday's was about indoor decor.
Today is dd's gingerbread house.
Tomorrow will be outdoor lights.
Thursday dd's infusion.
Friday dd's final and start of winter break for both dd and ds.
This next week we have a lot going on.

That’s awesome! I love seeing your pages of small town life, I totally relate. Oh yeah, it doesn't get much smaller than here, that's for sure. But still, did we need every fire truck in the entire county in the parade? Who is the dude on the riding lawnmower? Every year he rides down the street. This year he didn't even have the lights on the thing. And Jedis! In the Christmas parade. And how do we have 3 hip hop groups?

Happy not-a-Monday, everyone! How's the documenting going? We're nearing the halfway mark of the month when we'll have our first catch-up day in this thread. I know things get super busy and this discussion is left a little quiet at this particular moment of December but I hope you're all having wonderful days with wonderful memories wherever you are in the world (and hopefully just enough time between everything that needs doing to keep taking some photos and jotting down some precious journaling). December 13th: WARMTH // Coldest month of the year up here, summer heat down there. December is truly the month of polar opposite seasons around the globe and two very different experiences of the weather for the holidays. The day has come to turn our attention to the weather shenanigans of this year's Yuletide. Story prompt: "Mr. Snow vs Heat Miser" Pick your camp for today's documenting inspiration: white Christmas or green Christmas! (document the cold snap/heat wave currently hitting your part of the world) (document how you're keeping warm/cool in this season: your family's hats and mittens by the front door, special Mylar/cooling beds for your furry companions, making piping hot cocoa/ice cold water to fill your insulated bottle with before going on a walk/drive) (document the effects of inflation and the war in Ukraine on energy supplies in your part of the world and how you're adjusting your usual seasonal habits to save some money) Creative prompt: Look to your trusted media to add a news perspective to your story today. Take a screenshot of an article relating to your story (or of your weather app) and print it out as an official record to add to your memories. Photograph the newspaper on your breakfast table with the headline touching on today's story you're telling. Think of fun ways to include this piece of ephemera to your story: large pull-out behind a photo, vellum insert, etc. Today's musical interlude:

blemon Love-love-love your pages. A lot of graphic play happening with the words and fonts here! The 'Glorious Nog' page is super fun with the interactive XXL felt number revealing the actual star of the story. I really appreciate that this sneak into your fridge allows that little bonus of recording trendy items and the packaging style of present day. One day you will look back this eggnog story will be a full-on walk down memory lane... Great idea breaking up the straight lines of your title by having the handlettered-style "messy" alpha Thickers following your fridge shelf instead. Super dynamic and fun for the eye! Also, the way you've played between the green in your phrase stickers and arrows with the green bits of nature in your 2x2 photos is so much fun and helps to create a framing effect to "open" the "door" of your PP insert, very smart. wordyphotogbabe Lovely pages filled with loads of pretty details and gorgeous colours. I am glad to read that scrapbooking these stories right now is helping you through your grief. It sounds like this is exactly the kind of therapy you need right now. I hope you can focus on all the good moments as you navigate this immense loss. I'm glad to read your SO is supporting you in all the little ways he can to make this season as cosy and comfy as can be for you. Please take good care of yourself. (Absolutely adore your mosaic page - such a fun and busy aesthetic without ever feeling messy, just very well done!) scrappypeanut pantsonfire Best of luck to both your kiddos! I hope they come out of this week happy with the work they've done and ready to get in the festive mood. #fingersandtoescrossed paget Same, girl, same. I have that dormant IG account for scrappy stuff I should really just start using. New year's resolution?

We don't have any Christmas parades around here but I can imagine. We have a tiny summer parade one town over that anyone can walk and play the kazoo in, but the route is so short that even after doubling back and walking back along it the whole thing still only takes about 5 minutes.

It's funny how I went from keeping up with my JYC each day to suddenly having 2 or 3 days done on day 13. I know I don't have to keep up, and I have been working on finishing up last year's. But I genuinely thought I was still "mostly caught up" with this year's too. lol.

I'm doing ok with the journaling, just need to write some notes for today and that will be up to date. In typical fashion I decided I didn't want to use any of the number sets I have in my stash, I wanted to use an Elle's Studio Dec stamp I picked up in the BF sale and it appears to be lost in international shipping purgatory. I have pages that are partially done, others that are nearly done, and a couple of others that are just one or two things shoved in a page protector. I know once that stamp arrives it will be full steam ahead.
And it's rather appropriate that today's prompt is all about the weather, as we've just had our coldest summer day on record here in Victoria (top of 15C), and I've had the heater going this week, a stark contrast to the 30C weather we had on Sunday. I've taken screenshots of my weather app and will definitely be including this in my album.

One more prompt before we have our first catch-up day in here! Get ready to panic when you realise how many photos you still need to print (ahem, sounds like me) and cut-into-this-paper decisions you need to make to get all caught up! Let's pretend for one more day that everything's fine and we totally got this... December 14th: LUSTRE // They say a diamond's lustre determines its value. For today's prompt, take a moment to find the lustre determining the worth of your holiday season this year. What is making your December glowy and bright? Story prompt: "Lustre cluster" Focus on recording a multitude of shiny reflections of light. (document a story illustrated with a bokeh photo of your lit-up Christmas tree) (document your street at night with all your neighbours' holiday displays glowing bright) (document the small daily rituals you have that are anchored around light sources such as lighting the Advent candles, turning on your Swedish Jul candelabra by the window, reading or meditating with some of your favourite seasonal scented candles burning, etc.) (document the less literal lustre in your life right now: loved ones helping you with childcare, a colleague who brings coffee and pastries for the office, friends sending you funny photos or videos to cheer you up, etc.) Creative prompt: Break out the metallics. ALL of them. Embossing powders, ink pads, pens, glitter paper, foiled elements, paste, sprays, everything goes! It's time to make a very sparkly spread to celebrate the shiniest month in the year... (And don't be afraid to mix your metallics, damn those people who claim you shouldn't!) (Also, metallics look gorgeous with black & white but how about trying something completely different? Silver on tartan/plaid? Bright gold on hot pink? Go for it, have fun!) Song of the day:

Behind on everything over here >.<
I have a few days of specific things -- work party on the 10th (with a whopping 2 photos taken.. I'm so terrible lol), a movie marathon on the 13th w/ new grogu jammies, started baking today.. but other than that I need to shoehorn generic stuff in or something.. not sure yet.
Between work and not feeling 'it' I haven't touched my craft stuff in a week. I was doing so well! lol

Kind of behind, but glad I did foundation pages bc now I am pulling them out to work with. Took some pics today so hoping they get turned into stories about package deliveries and our amaryllis blooming ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) . I also figured out that trying to keep up with gram posting my DD is actually not really fun to me. I’m kind of over it and would rather just do it for me. Lesson learned!

My mom has been in the hospital for two days and I've been with her. I'm exhausted. I have no stories. I have no idea what to do for day 9 or 10.
I am glad I made some foundation pages because I can go with that for some days. Just don't know what stories to put in them.
I made a stadium pocket but I'm not feeling it. At all. I liked it when I made it but now I think it's too flat or something. Not enough color. I don't know.
I know there is no behind but I am. I'm usually pretty on track. I know if I don't finish it in December, it will never get done.
Ugh.

Have you documented your favorite movies to watch? Music to listen to? Those are all stories that are pretty easy to include. What about any Christmas cards you've gotten? That would work too.
