My mom has been in the hospital for two days and I've been with her. I'm exhausted. I have no stories. I have no idea what to do for day 9 or 10. I am glad I made some foundation pages because I can go with that for some days. Just don't know what stories to put in them. I made a stadium pocket but I'm not feeling it. At all. I liked it when I made it but now I think it's too flat or something. Not enough color. I don't know. I know there is no behind but I am. I'm usually pretty on track. I know if I don't finish it in December, it will never get done. Ugh. I'm sorry to hear your Mom is in the hospital. I hope she has a good recovery.

blemon I hope your Mum is back at home and better soon. It's ok to scrap the hospital story, or to just skip those days completely in your journal if you'd prefer not to have that story as part of your album.

My mom has been in the hospital for two days and I've been with her. We have a close family member in hospital at the moment too… my daughter commented that it just doesn’t feel like Christmas this year. I get the bah humbug vibe. I haven’t started my dd album or documenting yet but I too am taking photos and writing notes when and where I can. After all that planning and all the excitement, life happened and that’s the way it goes. I will have to do the Christmas savoury jelly next year. I think the photo I took of our relative before he went into hospital will be the opening page of the album this year… maybe. We’ll see how it all turns out. So sorry to hear someone else is having a Christmas like ours, all the best blemon to you and your mother from Australia 🥰 P.s. keep up all the photos and story ideas please peas it’s very uplifting and inspiring for when I do get time to start my dd

I am popping in here to see if anyone is part of Krystal’s Patreon group. I wanted to know opinions on if it was worth it to join in for access to her December stuff.
Also, my DD title page sits unfinished. I can’t wait to find the time and mental space to work on my December Daily. I am team finish DD in the first half of the year, haha!

blemon I hope your mom is doing better and is recovering and can be home soon. Hugs and love coming your way. My printer ran out of ink so I have to wait until the 1st of Jan to order a new pack. But I have stories I can tell. Just need to wait to print photos.

blemon I'm sorry life threw a monkey wrench into the holiday season for you, for that I am sending hugs. But if it is something that was significant, I encourage you to include it. I swear to you that my DD is going to be one of the saddest things known to men. Don't get me wrong, I'm finding joy, but one of the things I committed to this winter was allowing myself to feel my feelings. Journaling about all of it. And my DD is going to be sad, sad, sad with moments of joy. But finally since my child died, I feel compelled to share in some way what I've been going through mentally and in a lot of ways, it has been very healing to get the words out there into the universe. I've typed them all every single day. I may never show them to anyone, we shall see about that. But they are there, collected, noted, acknowledged. It gives a real glimpse into where my head is right now. I feel like it is a very important story to tell and I've chosen my words very carefully, I feel they honor my child. I know not everyone has the same mentality as me. I have always scrapbooked all sorts of things, but probably 90% of what I have done has been all positive. But this, well, this project has just taken on a life of its own.

She live crafts Monday - Thursday. I usually try to do a little while she does it. It’s usually about 1 or 2pm est. then she also has a Monday accountability meeting where we discuss what we are working on. I’m not huge into Ali edwards products which she uses a lot of and still think the group is a fabulous deal.

lg, blemon, jeremysgirl, and to everyone else struggling this holiday season, hugs to you all and you are not alone. My December has been completely derailed as well. I have barely taken any photos. No notes. Today is a scrapbooking mental health day for me, to try and get out of this holiday funk. I want to try to enjoy Christmas this year, and I need to adjust my mindset. To do so, I am locking myself away with my crafting supplies and ignoring my responsibilities. 2022 sucks. 🙃

I'm so sorry about your mom blemon, thinking of you and your family ❤️❤️❤️ If you're open to having your thoughts + feelings surrounding what's going on in your journal in the past I've done a simple photo of a sunrise or sunset and cut a slit for a slide in/out hidden journaling card where I could talk about what was going on without it being so out in the open.

Happy Saturday, all! Apologies for being absent a couple days. There was (still is) an emergency dog foster situation at my mother's and I stayed over a few nights to help out. The boy dog needs oxygen and assistance around the clock. Fingers and paws crossed he makes it. We're doing everything we can. PSA in the spoiler because my heart breaks for the 15 very neglected dogs that were taken in by the local rescue my mother fosters for. Please don't do make any haste pet purchases for the holidays. Resist the temptation of picking up a last-minute available puppy from a breeder or shelter. Pets are a huge responsibility. It's better to gift someone a coupon to adopt or reserve a pup from an upcoming litter in the new year than to hurry into a poorly thought out rash decision. Also, if you are going the breeder route, be very attentive with breeder selection. Make sure you get access to all the dogs they have, be inquisitive and skeptical. If the breeder guides you away from any other dogs they have, take it as a red flag. If you hear or notice signs of other dogs but can't see them/acces them, take it as a red flag. It is not unusual at all to have breeders with good reputations end up having animals seized for abuse and neglect. Don't just read up on Google or Facebook and trust the reviews. I'm not saying these reviews are fake but people can be very enthusiastic about their new puppy without realising there's a neglectful breeder opportunist behind the whole thing who just comes acress as charming and trustworthy. That's all. *gets off soapbox* December 15-17: CATCH-UP // It is time to sit down and reflect on what's been done so far, what still needs doing. If you are behind schedule, don't panic. If you feel like you've barely even started, don't panic. If you think you're missing pictures and stories for certain days, don't panic. You got this! We got you! 1. Are you happy with what you've done so far? If not, what's missing to make you feel better about your progress? 2. Are you working on your project daily to keep up with the stories? Or are you doing batch processes? 3. Are you struggling with anything in particular? A hard day/week? Are you in need of alternative ways of looking at a difficult story or stretch of time this month? 4. What's the favourite thing you've done for your DD (or alternative holiday memory project) so far? 5. What's your favourite story that has happened to you this month so far? 6. What is your favourite DD/JYC social media share so far? Spread the love and inspiration with all! 2022 DD inspiration playlist to scrap along to:

Sending hugs to everyone having a rough time this Christmas. blemon my personal approach would be to skip over the hardest days and get back into the project with something less emotional and easier, ideally more recent. You can go back and do something for the days you miss later, or not. A placeholder entry could also work, something decorative and simple, and again you could go back and add more to it later. I've been jumping around a bit, skipping over some bits that are going to take more emotional energy or that need time to play out before I decide what story to tell.

Tonight, at sundown, Hanukkah begins. C hag urim sameach to all the Peas celebrating! Wishing everyone a lovely (and hopefully relaxing) Sunday. December 18: FLAME // On the first day of the Festival of Lights, look around and embrace the flames warming this cold season. From using the fireplace to candles, how do these "little fires" light up your December and what do they represent? Story prompt: "Blazing the holiday trail" Think of all the ways an old-time "technology" like fire is still at the centre of present-day celebrations and the cold season for those of us in the Northern hemisphere. (document a religious tradition in your home linked to lighting candles like the menorah or Advent candles) (document a source of flames like your pets staying warm by the fireplace, burning a pile of autumn leaves in the garden or setting up the BBQ if you're down under and enjoying the warm season) (document a festival, parade or Christmas market you attended where fire was used like torches for a Krampus walk or a vendor roasting chestnuts) Creative prompt: Today, we are seeing red. Embrace the firy hues and bring out all your favourite red scrap supplies (the hoarded red tartan papers, weee!) to give your project a sense of joy, warmth and intensity. Song of the day:

Lobsters snapping at toddlers might be my theme for next year's cards. These quirky Victorian themes need to make a comeback, we agree, right? Goodness me, some of these were just odd, others had me smiling straight away. And how adorable were those insects having Christmas dinner? The puns, too, were really interesting. Would love for a scrap company to dare take these on for a collection. They are the sloths and llamas of those days, anyway.

Hee hee, sleepingbooty, your cat meme this morning reminds me of our old cat when I was growing up. We had wood heat, only, and the last fire to die down was the "airtight" heater in my Dad's room. It was like a tin can on legs, with a space under it. In the morning we would often get a whiff of singed fur, because at night old Tom would curl up UNDER the heater, soaking up the residual warmth held in its ashes, and he didn't always move out quickly enough when my Dad built up the fire next morning! Thankyou for all your DD prompts. You have me itching to photograph every detail, and get those photos onto pages. Looking forward to our first "real" fireplace fire in years. We had the fireplace inspected and the chimney cleaned. Dh has been amassing wood. Will be lighting up that baby when our dgs arrives. I will certainly have flame photos!

Thank you sleepingbooty and paget for the journaling card suggestions a few pages back. They were just what I needed to get some ideas flowing and I ended up going with a mix of your ideas. It’s simple but I love how it turned out and everyone has completed theirs! Yay! I’m thinking of maybe doing something similar for my niblings (nieces and nephews) this year that documents what they asked Santa for (my youngest nephew, a three year old, is asking for a vacuum from Santa which is just too precious NOT to include in my album somehow). Just wanted to say thank you for the input and even though I’m not posting too much in this thread, I’m caught up and reading and the community aspect has done wonders for my project! Just reading what others have to say about their albums and ideas has me excited to work on mine. Am I caught up? Absolutely not. Not even close. But I love what I have done so far and I haven’t lost interest yet so that’s a win in my book.

1. Are you happy with what you've done so far? If not, what's missing to make you feel better about your progress? Yes, I’m happy enough. I wish I had more done but time is short this month with all the memory making and holidays tasks. Plus my PL is my priority and that it up to date. My DD will get done when it gets done! Even though it’s fun, to me it is my extra project, not my main one.
2. Are you working on your project daily to keep up with the stories? Or are you doing batch processes? Both, neither, and other! I do something almost daily- but something might be quite small. And then today I was able to tie up loose ends on three days and work on some items from 2 more days.
3. Are you struggling with anything in particular? A hard day/week? Are you in need of alternative ways of looking at a difficult story or stretch of time this month? Nope. Just lack of time that we all can probably relate to.
4. What's the favourite thing you've done for your DD (or alternative holiday memory project) so far? I haven’t done too many days but I like something about each one! I’m going to choose a treatment I gave the day 2 number. It was kind of a fugly color large wood number but I made it work with the page and embellished it with song lyrics and tied a music charm on it.
5. What's your favourite story that has happened to you this month so far? Starting a new tradition of buying an ornament for my dd who passed away - it came to me that it would be a fun way to include her in the season and my DD. I decided each year in December I will be on the look out when I’m out for an ornament that is “her” or reminds me of her in some way. I got a perfect one for the first year. I told my others dds about it and they loved it and one of them grabbed something for her as well. The other dd immediately came up with the same idea of the ornament I did get. ❤️
6. What is your favourite DD/JYC social media share so far? Spread the love and inspiration with all! I’ve really been enjoying Ali’s daily video of her DD. I am not seeking out other things to watch right now since I’m short in time. I’ve seen some pages of others here and there on INSTA but Ali’s daily video is my main thing.

1. Are you happy with what you've done so far? If not, what's missing to make you feel better about your progress? So far, I've only journaled and taken some pictures. 2. Are you working on your project daily to keep up with the stories? Or are you doing batch processes? I have Friday off and no plans so I am going to sit down and see what I can come up with. The more I journal, the more I think this album needs to come together for me.
3. Are you struggling with anything in particular? A hard day/week? Are you in need of alternative ways of looking at a difficult story or stretch of time this month? This is an interesting question. When I started scrapbooking I had the idea that I was doing it for others. To record our family memories. I'm thinking this DD isn't something I particularly want to share. The only thing I'm struggling with is changing my mindset to it's OK to have a private project.
4. What's the favourite thing you've done for your DD (or alternative holiday memory project) so far? My favorite thing really is feeling like I'm being successful at making this holiday as good as I could.
5. What's your favourite story that has happened to you this month so far? My DD and I went to see the symphony's holiday pops concert. I had been so looking forward to that. It definitely has been the highlight of my Christmas and my DD was like, we really have to make this an annual tradition.
6. What is your favourite DD/JYC social media share so far? Spread the love and inspiration with all! You know this is my first time doing JYC and I really appreciate that Shimelle puts together videos of her putting her layouts together. I like that she is very quick and simple. My style is very simple and quick too. So I think it almost gives me permission, if you will, to just do my thing and not feel like I'm inadequate in some way because my book will not be some very elaborate undertaking. In fact, I feel like I should be able to complete it, for sure, the nice 4 day weekend I get over New Years.

1. Are you happy with what you've done so far? If not, what's missing to make you feel better about your progress? Yes, happy I've made as many pages. I need to dip into my embellishments and use them up. 2. Are you working on your project daily to keep up with the stories? Or are you doing batch processes? Big catch up this past Sunday. 3. Are you struggling with anything in particular? Lack of time and story ideas. Thanks sleepingbooty for the "Tech Today" page, it will be fun to look back at the apps I'm currently using. 4. What's the favourite thing you've done for your DD (or alternative holiday memory project) so far? I took a picture of my wine glass with Christmas lights reflected in the red wine. I'll try to post that. 5. What's your favourite story that has happened to you this month so far? I created a page about eating bagel and lox. 6. What is your favourite DD/JYC social media share so far? Spread the love and inspiration with all! Amanda Zampelli's opening page is stunning. My DD is a true DD. Other than my bucket list, tree up, menorrah lighting, there is very little holiday pages. Which is fine, I'm not a big holiday fan. But typing this out made me remember to do "That's a Wrap" page, and I did take some pics of Christmas lights in town that I wanted to print out. Two more page ideas!!

1. Are you happy with what you've done so far? If not, what's missing to make you feel better about your progress?
Yes, I am. Loving the alterations I made to the inside of my album as well as the interactive pages.
2. Are you working on your project daily to keep up with the stories? Or are you doing batch processes?
I was doing it daily until NY photo printer ran out of ink. Dh bought me a pack and it arrives tomorrow. So then I will continue to work on it and catch up. I have several fou dstion pages done - so glad I made some - to help in the process to catch up.
3. Are you struggling with anything in particular? A hard day/week? Are you in need of alternative ways of looking at a difficult story or stretch of time this month?
I did a small page about Milo who we all still miss. Happy update: he was adopted! He can not live with another dog so they had to be more selective and we cried happy tears when we heard he was adopted.
I have his last photo and hidden Journaling. 4. What's the favourite thing you've done for your DD (or alternative holiday memory project) so far?
Altering the inside of a non DD 6x8 album to make it festive inside.
Also one of my interactive pages. Those are so fun!
5. What's your favourite story that has happened to you this month so far?
Day 9 - dh and I went out to lunch after my dental appointment. Our last date out was Dec 2019, so pre covid. Because of dd we have to be very careful. It was soooo nice being out.
6. What is your favourite DD/JYC social media share so far?
I really haven't been keeping up with SM lately and I am quite happy about that. So no favorite post.

1. Are you happy with what you've done so far? If not, what's missing to make you feel better about your progress?
Yes! I have most of my journaling done. I some photo's taken, I just made a list of the ones I have to take. I spent some time yesterday jotting down some page ideas. I actually have more idea's than days!
2. Are you working on your project daily to keep up with the stories? Or are you doing batch processes?
Yes for journaling and photo taking. No for actually scrapping. But I never do that anyway as long as I have the photos and journaling, I can do it whenever.
3. Are you struggling with anything in particular? A hard day/week? Are you in need of alternative ways of looking at a difficult story or stretch of time this month?
For the last 3 years I have been bah humbug. Between my DD no longer believing and being a preteen/teen and then the pandemic and now my illness, I am just not as into Christmas as I have been in the past and that is OK. These last few years will just be a more real lifeish and not quite so social media happy (LOL).
4. What's the favourite thing you've done for your DD (or alternative holiday memory project) so far?
I am still working on years past. I made the most adorable page. I didn't start doing DD until 2011 but wanted to include a memory in my 2011 book from 2010 (DD's preschool xmas concert). So I made a retro TV cut file to put inbetween the 2010 and 2011 stories of her concert and put "we interrupt this regularly scheduled 2011 December Daily Album to bring you a memory from 2010's Palm Valley Lutheran Preschool Christmas Concert." I love it. Fun way to bring in some memories from previous years. Sent the photos that I need to make the page to the photo printer Saturday, they are still not ready yet, but I am itching to finish that!
5. What's your favourite story that has happened to you this month so far?
Starting a new tradition this year. It is from Iceland. Apparently, everyone gets a book on Christmas Eve, they open it and spend the night reading and drinking hot chocolate. We will add watching our tradition of watching Love Actually, but I cannot wait.
6. What is your favourite DD/JYC social media share so far? Spread the love and inspiration with all!
I have to admit I don't do social media all the much, so I don't follow any one person. I have not even been watching Ali consistently this year. It seems like more and more people are moving to Patreon and I am too cheap to spend the money on that (looming collage costs and me no longer being able to work more than 3 hours a day due to my illness has cut our budget drastically), not to mention food prices are rising. OHHHHHHHH another page idea!!!!! Thank you!

It's been rough.
My mom is still in the hospital but improving. Not sure when she'll be released but we are hopeful.
The support from this community is really overwhelming. I appreciate you all so very much.
