🤣🤣🤣 Nope! I’d love to know how many people are invited and how many go 😊 That is the big question!

January 6, 2023 is a Friday, unless this refers to Jan 6, 2024? I would say after-holiday work commitments would keep us from attending and send a gift. My mistake, looking at the wrong month. It should be January 7th - thanks!

If I really wanted to go to Vegas I would go to the ceremony only. There are much better options to eat in Vegas than that and if you are paying anyway why not.

Do they have reservations to ‘meet at the buffet’ or are they just winging it and hoping everyone can be somewhat together? I might go since I’ve never been to Vegas. I’m a maybe. In July it was impossible to show up and expect dinner. I hope they have reservations. lol Maybe in January it's less busy.
I wouldn't go unless I wanted an excuse to go there. The buffet is worth the money, I've heard, but you shouldn't have to pay.

I guess if I wanted an excuse to go to Vegas and liked dressing up, I might go. Neither of those are true for me, so in reality I am a no.
As far as it not being the "real" wedding, that part wouldn't bother me. It's the publicly celebrated part of the wedding.
And as far as it being a gift grab, I think all parties are essentially gift grabs. They just usually dress it up a bit more so you feel like you are getting something in exchange.

Since you said you go to Vegas a few times a year if it works to go when the wedding is then I'd go. Spend a little time with family then do your own thing as you normally would. No need for drama.

Meh. Vegas isn’t far from me, and I actually lived there for 10 years as a child and have lots of family still there, so I’d be all for going. January could be 50°, but it could also be 70°, which seems downright balmy compared to what I’m usually experiencing then.
I’d probably skip the buffet, though. 😂

For me it would depend on what other family members would be going. If I could make a fun weekend out of it with my dh's siblings and/or other family members, then yes I would go. Otherwise, I would be in the "send a check and regrets" group.

I would only go if it was a close family member and it suited me (money / time wise).
That’s pretty sucky.

That would be a huge nopity nope nope from me. I hate Vegas on a good day, but add in a quickie wedding where I have to pay for my own dinner AND they expect a gift too? Oh HELL to the no. MAYBE I’d send a card with $20 in it.

I love Vegas, so this would be a no brainer for me. Yup, I'd go. I might not spend as much on the gift since I'm shelling out $160 on a meal though.
If I didn't love Vegas, maybe not.

We've been in Vegas several times the week before Christmas. It is dead. Everyone there says they are gearing up for the Christmas to New Years craziness that lasts for a few weeks, so I'd say there is good chance it is busy. We've had the Ceasar's buffet and it is fantastic, but I have a hard time spending 3 meal's worth of spending on one meal.

how close a family member? maaaaybe depending on the relationship (if I wanted an excuse to go to Vegas for a few days either before or after), but probably not. I take it back, nope- way too close to the holidays. Unless it's one of your siblings or your children. Its a niece that rarely stays in contact. There is your answer - no, I would not attend.

Unless you guys were thinking a quick trip to Vegas would be fun and no big deal to go the weekend of the wedding, I might attend the wedding, but the "I have to pay for it" buffet would be a big no way. I don't like buffets anyway.
