It's fun, I liked the idea of using my stamps more. Plus I liked it that it was scrapbooking and not card making-while I enjoy card making too, what I was looking for was more ways to incorporate stamping into scrapbooking.

Anything that helps me use supplies I already have, sounds good to me. I have tons of stamps but haven’t used them much lately so definitely going to check this out.

This past Sunday, I sat down and watched all four videos associated with this class. I am so, so, so very glad I spent the $5 for this. This summer has been rough and I have not been in the right mindset to scrap. But after watching the first video, I immediately pulled out my stamps and started creating.
In the past 4 days, I stamped three backgrounds, created one full layout, bought 2 more stamp sets and then created one last final background using my new goodies. And again, this was all inspired by just the first lesson.
I am really enjoying it! I highly recommend it if you are looking to use your stamp collection more. You cannot beat the price right now either.
Shimelle also mentioned that the next product focus will be stencils.

Thanks so much for flagging this. I don't often check her website but was glad to be able to catch this before the price goes up. I'll be watching for the next one.

May the crafty vibes keep flowing into your life!

Thanks for the review! I popped right over and signed up. I initially didn't because I figured it was targeting those with the BOBW stamps, but reading her description it sounds more generic than that, and I *do* need help using my stamps!!!

I have a goal of incorporating stamping into my layouts more so this is great. What the hell, it's $5. Great idea for a series.

I saw your layout shared on Shimelle's insta and in the class group sarahsprettypapers, and it's just gorgeous. I have the class pass so I automatically received this class. I was also a bit concerned the focus would be too heavy on the type of stamps I don't typically own as the BOBW stamps she chose to use are all very image heavy while I lean more towards words. I think if I didn't have the class pass I would have been on the fence about buying it, but I'm really happy I have it. I've already watched the first two videos and am part way through the third, and have completed a layout for the first video. It's already got me to dust off an underused stamp set, and I like that the she is including additional techniques as I progress through the vidoes, so the first one is just stamping, the second uses stenciling and stamping, the third uses ink blending and stamping, with ideas for how to replicate the look in different ways. For $5 it is the perfect push to better use my stash.

Can anyone who’s watched all the videos summarize what the four themes are? I can tell the first technique is to create a background. What are the other topics?
I’m still pouting and resentful of some of the shenanigans that went on with the last class series she did. And other things. The only reason I’m considering this is because all the videos are already DONE.

Thank you for sharing and for the reviews! I went ahead and signed up -this'll only be the second class I've taken (AD 4x6 sketch class is the first) but I have a lot (by my standards - perhaps not by everyone's) of stamps and I haven't used many of them Chinagirl828 - gorgeous layout! I love the stamp and the colours you chose.

I’m still pouting and resentful of some of the shenanigans that went on with the last class series she did. I missed this bit, I'm scared to ask what happened. I'm guessing it has to do with a lesson schedule being shared at the start of the rainbow class but then not actually sticking with it, and while I think we can all understand and appreciate that sometimes life happens, I feel the delays spiraled out of control. Typing this response made me realise we had been told a final video and a PDF of all the lessons were coming soon in mid July, which I cannot see on the class materials thread on the forum. Regular posters (or lurkers) here probably know that I am a fangirl of Shimelle and want to support her business. I have learnt a lot from her classes over the years, find her teaching style to be easy to understand and I think her classes offer good value for money. She has always been not so great on the business side, but over the last couple of years it has definitely gotten worse, and I suspect I'm not the only one who is frustrated.

Chinagirl828 , that is a lovely layout, and a great use of your stamps. Like honeypea , I’d like to know what additional stamping techniques she is teaching besides backgrounds. From Chinagirl828’s post, it sounds like “ the first one is just stamping, the second uses stenciling and stamping, the third uses ink blending and stamping, with ideas for how to replicate the look in different ways.”
That sounds like classes 2 and 3 are more about incorporating inking techniques with stamping? I’ve seen a lot of classes that use ink blending with stamping. Does this particular class have a unique or different twist?
For those of you who have already signed up for the stamping class series, can you give a bit more info about what she teaches? $5 may not be much, but this hobby can nickel and dime you to death.
And what does BOBW refer to? I assume that is a company that sells these products she demos?

. And what does BOBW refer to? I assume that is a company that sells these products she demos? [/span][/quote] Best of Both Worlds - her You Tube presence in which she creates a kit via SB.com that you can buy all or none or anything in between, and she uses that kit to create a batch of videos on Live through the month. Her schedule is a Live every Monday and Friday (at set time, which I never remember). Except for two weeks ago when instead of a Monday video she posted a photo of cupcakes baking saying “no live today, but good news! I can bake now” (kitchen redo). She says she’s out of town and the Wi-Fi is too spotty to video, but she’ll record something to post mid-week, and she’ll be Lu e on Friday as usual. No midweek video posted, and she totally ghosts on Friday without any explanation at all. Crickets until Monday, when she’s live, but not at her desk, she’s on an outing with her kid and says she’ll do Monday live the next day, on Tuesday. Which she does actually do. This sort of nonsense happens about every other month. And she often promises to record some extra videos or do a surprise live to make up for her absences, but that never happens. Her ardent fans say this is totally fine because YT is free content. Okay, but people trying to $upport her by buying her kit recommendations to scrap along with her ARE paying money and getting burned. Not to mention that she’s pulled these exact shenanigans with paid classes too. She was very scattered with Journal Your Christmas last year, then just vanished before the 25th never to conclude anything. It was my first year with her JYC. Then she did it again with the recent rainbow class. Three classes in and she started ghosting, rescheduling, promising to catch up, just to disappear and fall further behind, then started doing classes out of order, and as the pea above said - STILL hasn’t finished up the class with content. She has a chronic problem of over-promising and under delivering.

I saw your layout shared on Shimelle's insta and in the class group sarahsprettypapers, and it's just gorgeous. Thank you so much! I absolutely LOVE your layout, the colors, the stamping, everything! It honestly matches my niece's in progress album perfectly, so I will probably just scraplift yours entirely. 😊 I would like to add an update to my initial review: This class may be dangerous for my wallet! 😆 Lawn Fawn just released some adorable bat stamps for Halloween, and my very first thought was, "Oooo, that would make a really cute background..." I am glad it is called "Use What You Buy" as opposed to "Use What You Already Have." The former implies I can keep adding to my collection, ha!

Last year was also my first year with JYC, and I was disappointed it never actually finished as well. I can understand delays to an extent, life happens sometimes. But the lack of communication can be frustrating at times. What is nice about JYC is that when you buy it once, you have access to any future JYC content. So we still do have that to look forward to later this year.

Chinagirl828 and sarahsprettypapers , I LOVE your stamped LO. I am *still* struggling with posting pics, so haven't thrown mine up there yet, but will try and do so this weekend. I got it figured out! scrapnnana , BOBW refers to the Best of Both Worlds kit that you can buy or pull from your stash monthly. It really is a great way to use your supplies and Shimelle does stress all the time that you can make your own kit. Here are some links to kits I have made, I am slow for August, so haven't done my August post yet, (plus my ongoing how to post photo issue, I was using flickr but now I am locked out and it's a hot mess) but hopefully this gives an idea of how it works. I have been doing this since January (it was my new years resolution) and it has really helped me use what I have. 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/131258/shop-stash-shimelle-bobw-june2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/129631/post-shopped-stash-shimelle-aprilThe stamping class is super fun and I love the videos. Again, Shimelle stresses that you do not have to use the stamps she has, but use the ones from your stash. I used my new National Park stamps and made some things I would never have thought to do. For 5 dollars, yes I will jump on that one. I don't want to fangirl (ala the latest with RTS as an example) too much, but I have to say the amount of content Shimelle puts out for free is fantastic. Plus I have learned a ton about composition and had many a giggle with the chat, which can get wild during the lives aka "random rubbish"....which I totally enjoy. Makes me feel a bit like I am back at Archiver's, circa 2006. Lives are supposed to be Monday and Friday 1:30 and 9:30 am respectively, (I think) UK time. For me in Central time zone I can scrapbook at 7:30 am Monday morning, but Friday is too early for me, I tried it once and nearly fell asleep at lunchtime. But then I just watch at my own speed later, when the recorded version pops up. I know everyone has their opinion and that is 100% fine, I just think for what Shimelle does and what she juggles she does a pretty flippin' amazing job. There were some hiccups with the end of Rainbow, (she got Covid and had some other issues) and while I do think a bit more communication would be good, I remind myself she is not a corporation, or even scrapbook.com. She is a one woman show, trying her best to run a business, be a mom, juggle life. I do think she over promises a bit, but man....when she comes through I am so excited to scrapbook-she lights a fire under me to get crafty and that is kind of hard to do in this day and age, when we are all dealing with so much. Edited to add, I also LOVE that she uses youtube instead of stupid facebook. I have declined so many classes, etc because the person only used facebook.

Ack! I signed up and then realized that my PayPal email is different from what I used when I first started taking classes. Hoping that doesn't mess things up when giving me access to the class. That happened with me too. I just sent her an email telling her my forum email and she was able to correct everything. She took care of it right away, so now I'm able to access the class. I love the layouts you have created, kmage and Chinagirl828. Will check out your work sarahsprettypapers. I have a tender place in my heart for Shimelle. I have been following her ever since I saw her video on Why I Scrapbook. I've watched it many times. I went through a very tough time in my life in 2012, and watching the (free) Glitter Girl videos helped me get through it. Shimelle has really influenced the way I scrapbook. Because of this, I am willing to overlook a few things, as if she were one of my own children. I know this is not an acceptable excuse for those who did not receive all of the content they have paid for. It's sometimes difficult for creatives to handle the seemingly mundane details of running a business. I hope you all get the inspiration and support you are looking for in the classes.

kmage those layouts look great! I love the color combinations! I absolutely love Shimelle as well. I only recently found her after my 4 year scrappy hiatus... so 2020 I believe. Then I was able to start watching lives when she switched to YouTube. I agree, she gives away a lot of really amazing content for free. And I honestly think she underprices her classes, but I know it is because she wants to be as accessible as possible to fellow crafters. I love Shimelle's teaching style and how she engages her audience during lives. You will receive not just scrappy lessons, but ones in color theory, photography, and British cuisine as well. You also learn more about the scrapbook manufacturing world, which is always fun to hear about. I find her very relatable and fun! I love being able to support her small business because I do feel she provides a great product. I really do learn something new in each class I take (this will be class number four) and I always feel inspired after watching a lesson. If I could change one thing, it would be the communication surrounding class delays. Regardless of that though, I will still continue to support her business, and I will continue to recommend her classes. I do think they are great!

I haven’t purchased it yet as I have been on vacation, but will be buying it before September. I have a few stamps, but not a lot. I don’t use them much either, so I also bought the Heidi Swapp stamp class to see if I can encourage myself to use them more.
