The stamp set is much smaller and $10 cheaper than the Honey Bee one but the stamp/die bundle is still $40! How do they justify that?! Yes, the main page shows both items sold out but the item pages still have them in stock. That might actually allow more people to get one. It’s 12:22am east coast time as I’m typing this. I was on the fence (ok maybe leaning more to one side) and when I saw what Nichol Spohr did with the set it was all over. Every year I make one really detailed Christmas card for a select few and I'm so lifting her design. After I read your post, I had to go check out her blog and see her project. OMG, soooooo adorably cute! She is really talented! Glad you managed to snag one of these sets before they sold out.

I'm new to Stamptember; this year was the first I'd even heard of it. LOVE Lawn Fawn, so I checked out that set. It didn't seem overpriced to me, at least for the stamp set alone. The price was right in line with what I'd typically expect to pay for a Lawn Fawn stamp set. I don't have a die cutter, so I don't pay much attention to the prices for die sets. I am wondering, for those of you who are saying that the Stamptember sets are overpriced -- is it mostly the sets with dies that seem overpriced? The Lawn Fawn set is already sold out, which definitely makes the decision on whether to buy or not much easier. I don't think the LF stamp set is particularly overpriced - it seems in line with other similar sets. The bundle with the die set did seem expensive to me because the previous day's set was a 6x8 stamp and die set for the same price. Roughly 9 dies with the LF one and 14 with the Honey Bee one, and HB's stamp set price was $10 more than LF's but the bundle was exactly the same price. Looking at some of the upcoming bundle prices though maybe the HB bundle set was unusually low. Gina K's is going to be $50! Yes, I think the die sets are the overpriced part, IMO. The stamp sets seem to be priced in line with what they normally cost. www.simonsaysstamp.com/category/shop-simon-releases-stamptember-exclusive-collaborationsEveryone has their own sense of what's affordable and what's worth it though

I watch her videos pretty regularly and her colors and coloring fit perfectly with my style.

The stamps aren't cheap but it's the coordinating dies that send prices from expensive to outright unreasonable, at least from my perspective.

Jo & Embri, thanks for the insights. One of my main takeaways from your posts: Dies are a particularly expensive habit! So are stamps, I guess, but I tend to stick to buying stamps that I know I will use on at least a dozen or more projects so I can be sure of getting my money's worth from them.
re this: "Everyone has their own sense of what's affordable and what's worth it though" That is sooo true!
Scrappyesq: I read her blog occasionally but haven't watched any of the videos. I will make an effort to give them a view. Thanks for the recommendation.

The Pink and Main set is very cute but I’m holding out for the Pinkfresh and Riley and co releases. Hoping they’re not Christmas themed, I have way too many Christmas stamp and die sets as it is.

Thing is, dies don't have to be expensive. There are plentiful die sets available that are <5$, so the materials / process are not inherently costly. So one must assume the value comes from the design instead. Except there's no sensible reason for them to be 3x the expense of a stamp set that arguably takes FAR more design work. The outline dies are literally a five minute job of selecting the blank space around the artwork, inverting the selection, new layer, expand selection by -oh, say ten pixels or so- and paint bucket fill. Pass it over for PNG-to-Vector conversion. Four minutes left to arrange them nicely into a sheet. Bam, done. Heck, you could write a macro to automate most of it.
The 'only buying stuff you can see a lot of uses for' is a very good shopping habit to have. So is 'do I already own something that can do what this thing does?' and 'Do I really need it, or do I just like the idea of it?' That's me with stamp/die sets. I love the idea of stamps. I just don't use them. So no matter how cute or appealing they are, it doesn't make any sense for me personally to invest any dollars in them.

I think a few of you were waiting for the Gina K. It's been up for sale for almost 20 minutes.. not sure if someone "released" it early or if it was strategic, but it went for sale about 11:30 pm, not the midnight they have advertised.

I was coming to post similar news!! I didn't know it was up since 11:30. That's super early!! It's called Sparkling Season. Pretty but not my style so I'm passing.

Well, I said I wouldn't do it, but that darned Gina K had to do snowflakes, the one thing I can't seem to resist. At least the bundle this time was in line with Gina Ks pricing so I only feel like I'm overpaying the shipping.

12:12pm it looks like the stamp set is still available. It's really pretty and I'm sure I'll like a lot of the examples but I can live without it.

I was waiting for the Gina K release and couldn't wake up at midnight...so glad I didn't because it's a hard pass for me. I can't bring me to pay $50 + shipping for another set of snowflakes. Her collab from 2020 still remains as my favorite one. The stamp set is still available as of 6am EST

I just had another look and I think I can declare myself safe from Stamptember FOMO. Concord & 9th is the only company that I really love and they don't have a collab this year. I might be slightly tempted by Altenew but I can easily remind myself that I had plenty of florals that I don't use and probably don't need another (unless they do something truly surprising). There aren't too many other brands that I love so I can save my money for something I can consider carefully.

Since I don't do a lot of fall/winter/Christmas cards and I STILL haven't used my stamps from a previous Stamptember, I think I am over my FOMO. (But that won't stop me from checking out the stamp sets every night.)

. (But that won't stop me from checking out the stamp sets every night.)I'm pretty sure I'm done....the only other company I thought about buying was Pinkfresh, but in digging through my stash the other day I found an entire pinkfresh stamp, hot foil plate and die that is still unopened. That leads me to believe that maybe I should lay off the buying for awhile (no this time for real). Especially since I know there are more LF holiday items I want (this yeard fall/winter release needs to be split in to parts for the sake of my bank account) AND there is a holiday suite from Stamoin Up that I plan to buy.
But I'm still staying up late most nights to watch the reveal and associated videos. What can I say?

I wonder if the companies also stay up late to see their collaborations sell out. I also wonder if SSS orders different amounts, for example, Gina K sold out super quick.

From something Gina said in her live last night, I think they do order different amounts. She mentioned that SSS ordered more of her set this year because hers sold out so fast last year. (She also said that she had planned for it to be just the stamp set, but Heidi at SSS thought they should have dies available too). So they may be ordering quantities based on levels of customer insanity in prior years

I keep looking each night! Idk why. The Brutus Monroe gnomies are cute enough but I'm all gnomed out by this point. I checked at half past 9 (west coast time ) and the die bundle is already gone.

Yeah, I'm not a gnome fan (though I think this set is cute), so this was an easy pass for me. I've been watching each night and it seems like the sets are being made available a little early (around 11:45pm Eastern) if you go to the actual product listing.

Gnomes aren’t my thing, which meant no FOMO for me since I slept through the release. Things took an unexpected turn for the busy this week and my watching from afar plans have been a bust.

I expected it to take a bit longer because of the holiday but I have a feeling it’s going to go into next week before it ships.

Gnomes aren't my thing either, so I have ZERO gnomes in my stamp collections. Which made this set appealing because it is cute and a little more "all season" than others.
However their pricing + not staying up until midnight just in case I like a stamp set = no Stamptember for me!
The last 2 days have not enticed me even a bit. Florals are just done.

I am trying to decide on the bundle for the Altenew. My mom's fave flower is a lily and she loves loves dies and coloring. This one looks like it would be pretty easy to color, right? Kind of big without too many little bits..she's older and eyesight isn't the greatest. Could be a Christmas gift.

And she could also stamp it on patterned paper or colored cardstock and just add a little shading. Or leave it white and add it to a colorful background. Looking at the examples on their site it looks like it would be a good choice, very flexible depending on how she likes to color.

I ordered on release night (the SS says stamp night) and received my order just a couple days after. I was floored at how quick it arrived.

I’m not a fan of Stamptember for ALL of the reasons listed. I’m an early riser and somehow manage to find a way to check every morning around 445. I’ve noticed the sets Tim Holtz (yes, I’m a fan) releases are very similar to a holiday release in the works, so I don’t get worked up over his anymore. All that said, I absolutely loved the set Newton’s Nook did last year and was so disappointed it was sold out. Sad/not sad to say, I stalked AE for days until I saw it there and snagged it. I’m not an AE shopper, but in this situation I didn’t feel guilty!

Has anyone bought anything else? So far I’ve been underwhelmed….. even the Waffle Flower set that I was waiting for was a pass for me. The only two other collabs I’m looking for are Pinkfresh and Picket Fence.
